Sebastian goes on to speak about how he uses humor in a similar way — turning insights into memorable calls to take action in the real world.[13:16] - Super Fluffy, Ethereal, Woo-Woo, SoftErin on being yourselfErin shares how she's felt pressure to be a certain way in her presentation — soft, ultra-cheerful, and wellness focused. “That is just not who I am.” Instead, she prefers actionable direction. “What do I need to do today when I go home? Just tell me what the hell I'm supposed to do to get out of burnout?” She wants the tools, and that's what she brings to her keynotes. There is room for both styles in the keynote world, but it's all about determining who you will be.[18:42] - The Trojan HorseHiding the profound in the simpleJosh and Tucker speak about how marketing your message matters. If you present your message as being all about work-life balance and personal growth, planners may put you in a “breakout session on the third day of the conference.” But if you can pitch a big-stage concept, then imbue it with powerful and profound messages, you can deliver on the promise of your keynote while also bringing powerful, positive surprises to your audience.[22:21] - The Individual and the OrganizationHow to speak to both in your messageErin shares how she's found her message of burnout connecting on both an individual level and an organizational level. Finding a message that does both is essential as a keynote speaker. You can't only speak to people on a personal level, but you also can't be focused only on the bottom line. Speakers must find a way to deliver their message in a way that its impact is clear — both for individual human beings who want to improve their wellbeing, and for massive enterprises who want to supercharge their organizational success.[25:39] - What Gets You On the Stage? Our guests speak on what motivates themAsk speakers why they do what they do, and you'll get different answers — but a similar core theme. For Seb, it's about impact. He speaks about letters he's received that detail both personal and organizational transformations that genuinely improve people's lives. For Tucker, it's about turning his own mistakes, missteps, and hangups into opportunities to help others grow. When he reflects on opportunities he's missed in life by sticking to what was comfortable, he sees the opportunity he has to help others break out of their own comfort zones and seize those opportunities. Finally, Erin shares how passionate she is about helping people find real success, the kind of success that doesn't show up in net worth or job title. She's seen amazing leaders who have reached the pinnacles of their careers who are miserable, burnt out, and lost. She believes in showing those people there is hope, that you can be successful and balanced and mentally healthy.Overall, all three of our guests believe in the power of how words spoken onstage can lead to so much more — not just improving financial outcomes, but improving lives.RESOURCES:[2:20] 100 Things, by Sebastian Terry[39:23] The Type A Trap, by Erin StaffordFollow Sebastian Terry:WebsiteInstagramFacebookYouTubeLinkedInTwitterFollow Erin Stafford:WebsiteTwitterInstagramLinkedInFollow Tucker Bryant:WebsiteTwitterLinkedInFollow Josh Linkner:FacebookLinkedInInstagramTwitterYouTubeABOUT MIC DROP:Hear from the world's top thought leaders and experts, sharing tipping point moments, strategies, and approaches that led to their speaking career success. It's about sharing those goals and allowing collaboration, help, support with others. We're all in this together, and 100 Things Now is this beautiful organism where everyone is connecting and helping each other become better.”—Seb TerryGUEST BIO:Affected by the death of a close friend, Sebastian Terry had a moment of deep reflection and realized he wasn't leading a life true to himself. In a moment of darkness and uncertainty, he decided to pick up a pen and paper and began to make a list of all the things that he'd always wanted to do, but never had a chance to do. His mission: to find happiness. Dropping everything in his life to pursue each of his “100 Things,” Sebastian's journey has been turned into a bestselling book, a reality TV show, and a platform that inspires people to not only start their own list, but support others along the way.Show Links:WebsiteInstagramFacebookYouTubeLinkedInTwitter CORE TOPICS + DETAILS:[4:07] - From What You're Told to What You SeekSeb walks us through the mindset change that changed his lifeSeb's entire mindset came about from a realization which came after a close childhood friend died tragically. He realized at that moment he could either spend his entire life doing what was expected, or he could fill every day of his life with the things that were most meaningful to him. So he made a list of the 100 things he wanted to do, and from there spawned a movement that's transformed countless lives.[8:04] - Happiness is a Choice…MostlyModerating the ‘mind over circumstance' discussionSeb is reluctant to claim that anyone, anywhere can think their way to happiness. There are real societal and circumstantial barriers many people face to fulfillment and security. But he does believe that pursuing happiness is a choice, one we can decide to make every day— or not.[27:57] - Are You Interesting or InterestedA key question with life-changing impactAll our lives, we're told to be interesting. Demand attention, seek fame, and be the most fascinating person in any room. But Paul shares how the most fulfilled people are actually the most interested people— the ones who manage to get excited about anything and anyone, focusing on what excites them rather than trying to constantly excite others.[39:53] - The “Work-Life Balance” MythSeb's unique perspectiveSeb fights against the concept of ‘work-life balance' in his speaking and writing. Why? “Work and life, it's the same thing. They need to be integrated.” He believes that the principles that guide our lives should also guide our work, and it shouldn't be about separating out our ‘life selves' from our ‘work selves.' When we're unified in our pursuit of happiness, [48:04] - Seb's Parting AdviceTake 10 minutes to be selfish“For anyone listening who is interested in just doing a quick little check-in to make sure they're living in a way which is true to them, I would suggest giving yourself permission to be by yourself at some point over the next few days. Call it 10 minutes to make it easy. Put it into your calendar, make a contract to yourself that you'll do it, with the pure intention of thinking about yourself selfishly. And as you do that, think about things that are important to you.”Interestingly, many of us will find that when we think ‘selfishly' in this way about what matters most to us, many of the things on that list will actually be selfless— spending time with people we love, service, etc. It's about identifying what's central to you and your passions, then integrating those passions into your daily life. If your doctor gave you 4 months to live, how would that change the way you lived the remainder of your life? When a friend passed away, Sebastian Terry created a list of 100 goals he wanted to accomplish in his life. It wasn't until he began ticking off goals one at a time that he realized how impactful the process was to the people it touched.
Sebastian Terry is a best-selling author and founder of the “100 Things Movement.” Sebastian joined us at the ALHI Executive Exchange for an inspirational keynote on using goals as a vehicle for change and how to capitalize on the perspective that adversity can bring us. In today's conversation, we discuss strategies for meaningful goal setting, how to process fear through action and how to ultimately craft a happier life by tapping into purpose and community.
Committing fully to living intentionally and with our purpose in mind should not be as hard as we make it. Sebastian Terry is a testament to this notion, and his story serves as a profound example of how to take charge of your time and energy and work towards a worthwhile goal, like being happy! Sebastian joins us on the show today to talk about his list of 100 things, and how he began his journey into discovering what he really wanted to do in life. He stresses that this was never a bucket list, as he wanted to keep the focus away from death, but more about prioritizing things that he wanted to do, that he believed would bring him happiness. We also talk about how this list transcended selfish interests and his thoughts on how to be a vehicle for change. Along the way, Sebastian shares simple yet strong pieces of philosophy about the secret to doing things, how the world can support you, and the immovable power of kindness. Tune in to hear all about Sebastian's story, the amazing feats he has achieved, and what has kept him motivated on his path!

Wowzers, what a cool human. I love it when I meet people and they just have zero filter, they're unapologetically themselves. Well that's Sebastian Terry's whole vibe. After losing a mate when he was 24 years old, Seb re-evaluated his life and values, he realised he was wildly unhappy and wrote down a list of things he wanted to do, 100 things. And he set out to achieve this list; he's got 24 more things to go; he's achieved 76 and some of them are insanely good; like kissing a celebrity (spoiler alert; he got to pash-off with Sharon Osbourne), being shot, jumping out of a plane nude, getting married to a stranger in Vegas. Over the years his values and goals have shifted more into helping other people achieve their own lists. In fact number 26 on his list was to "help a stranger." You'll hear a pretty amazing story about him helping a human named Mark with lymes disease complete a half marathon. Seb is vulnerable, honest, and dare I say it, very funny. Confucious said, "we have two lives & the second begins when you realise you only have one". That realisation forced Seb to consider his own mortality & it revealed that he was unhappy & unfulfilled. He was inspired to write a list of things that he thought would help him find true happiness. Along the way, his own journey of self discovery led him to helping others find real meaning in their own lives. Episode 56: How to Blast the Mediocrity Mindset with Sebastian Terry (founder, 100 Things) “Being realistic is the most common path to mediocrity.” ― Will Smith In his mid-20s, Seb was travelling overseas when he received a call that changed his life forever. One of his best friends had passed away at the age of 24. That tragic moment made Seb ask himself a simple question, “Am I happy?” The answer was a resounding “No.” Immediately after, Seb wrote out a list of 100 things he wanted to do, which he hoped would transform his life – and it's done exactly that. 'In case of an emergency oxygen masks will fall from the ceiling. Please put yours on first before helping others' Inspired by the death of a close friend, Sebastian Terry experienced a moment in his life where he asked himself a simple question; ‘Am I happy?'. The answer was NO and so he created a list of 100 Things that he hoped would help him find happiness. Ten years later, after dropping everything in his life to achieve the ultimate bucket list (#23 Deliver a Baby, #67 Live on a Deserted Island for 1 Week, #26 Help a Stranger, etc), Sebastian's story has grown from an adventurous tale into a global philanthropic movement that engages a growing tribe of hundreds of thousands to set meaningful goals, achieve our biggest dreams and help others in need. “I thought initially that it would take me 100 Things to reach a state of fulfillment but it's taken me 72 things to realize that ‘ticks' are just the beginning. The key to growth and happiness is finding out who you are on a primal level and then being that person, each and every day. The icing on the cake is then helping others and being of service” This evolution into the kindness space has spawned the birth of Kindsum, a peer-to-peer platform, activating acts of kindness in the general public and within organizations. 12 years ago, Sebastian Terry lost a great friend, had started a business, had begun navigating a university degree and decided to throw it all in and focus on his pursuit of living a happy life. What began as a list of 100things that Seb travelled the world experiencing including Delivering a Strangers baby, Living on a Deserted island for a week, Marrying a stranger has evolved 12 years on to a life of purpose, fuelled by passion to support millions of people across the globe to live happy, adventurous, fun filled lives that are the most meaningful to each person individually. Seb believes that the why are we here or what is your purpose is a question that is overly asked... and feels that the first question that we need to ask ourselves is Who are we? as the starting place to truly live a life of authenticity and truth. Seb spends his day activating the things that he loves and what make him the best version of himself with some of this weeks activities including daily French classes, learning classical piano, surfing and learning new breathe work all part of living true to bringing his 100things to life. Seb is full of character, soul, spirituality and humour and has a big call for action from our community - here's to writing a list!

Hello beautiful people On today's podcast we have the warm-hearted and hilarious Sebastian Terry. Seb is a keynote speaker, international author of his book 100 things, TV Host & Founder of 100 Things Philanthropic Movement in which he has raised almost half a million dollars for charities. In his mid-twenties, Seb lost a close friend which influenced him to ask the more deeper and deliberate questions like, “Who am I and why am I here?” But the question that changed the trajectory of his life was, “Am I happy?” In that moment, he realised the answer to this was no and this fuelled his motivation to create a list of 100 things that he wanted to achieve in this lifetime; an explorative journey focused on the pursuit of happiness. From cycling through Cuba, completing a triathlon, to delivering a baby, Seb has successfully ticked off 76 experiences on his list and inspired many during this time, to create and tick off their own lists. He even created an organisation called KindSum which he has integrated into 100 things that focuses on peer-to-peer, people-to-people, helping each other with acts of kindness. What I personally loved about this podcast is Seb's humour and humility. He shares with us his development from being one who was searching for experiences far outside of his comfort zone, through ticking #26 on his list, ‘Help a Stranger', he found his true purpose in helping other people tick off their own items. He emphasises the importance of, what he terms ‘healthy selfishness', so you can in turn show up as your best self to be in service to others. He encourages us to know who we are and to be that, and also shares what he truly believes is the secret to a happy life.Seb's mother has early onset dementia, and in knowing this before the podcast I asked permission to speak with him about this. He shares vulnerably what it is like for a loved one to forget who you are, and really admirably shares his insight into how to continue living your life in an empowering way and upholding a close relationship with someone that is experiencing such impairment.Connect with Jennah-LouiseMindset Coaching | https://www.jennahlouise.com.auInstagram Personal | https://www.instagram.com/jennah_louiseConnect with Seb Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/seb100thingsFacebook | https://www.facebook.com/100ThingsWebsite | https://100things.com/

11 years ago, when Sebastian Terry was 24 years old, he lost a friend. The sudden death shook Sebastian to his core, to the point where he re-evaluated his own life and asked himself, “Am I happy?” His answer was, “No.” Sebastian started looking for more happiness in his life. He wrote down a list of 100 things that he thought might make him happy — 100 things that he wanted to accomplish and that he thought might bring him a sense of joy — and as he started crossing things off his list, other people were inspired by his example. They started their own lists, which turned into Sebastian writing a book, speaking at events, and starting a movement. We’re all so wrapped up in everything going on in the world that not many of us have stopped to ask ourselves these questions lately: Am I happy? Am I living a purposeful life? What’s on my list? How can I help others? The closer we can get to answering those questions, the brighter the future is going to be for all of us. 100 Things founder Sebastian Terry is on a mission to tick 100 things off a list he wrote the day after his best friend died. Little did he know that that list would change everything, not the least of which was creating a global movement. It's a ridiculously inspiring episode 505 of The (award-winning) Small Business Big Marketing podcast. A little bit more about 100 Things Sebastian Terry 100 Things founder Sebastian Terry was inspired by the death of his close mate, to ask himself one simple question … “Am I happy?” The answer was “No!”, so he created a list of 100 things that he hoped would help him find happiness. Ten years on, Sebastian could never have imagined the impact that list has had on himself and hundreds of thousands of others. But amazingly, it wasn't until he'd ticked off 72 things that life really changed. This starter of a global movement is now the star of his own TV show, a published author, a sought-after keynote speaker, and although he'd deny it … an absolute saver of lives. I know you're going to love this chat as we explore how 100 Things became a global movement, how he's commercialised it, and the role marketing has played in building the brand. Known worldwide for pursuing an incredible list of 100 Things that he wants to achieve before he dies, Sebastian's story is surprisingly not about a bucket list. It’s about something more far reaching: permission, choice, growth and connection. Affected by a curious mind and the death of a close friend, Sebastian experienced a life-changing moment when he asked himself a simple question: “Am I happy?” The answer was “NO“ and so he decided to pen a list of 100 things that he’d always wanted to achieve.
Join hosts Sebastian Terry & Todd Duncan on this episode as they re-visit one of the most outrageous items from Seb's list #2 Marry a Stranger in Vegas. Speaking live to Seb's Vegas wife, Chiaveli, for the first time since their marriage over 10 years ago, the boys also track down his bestman, Lester, for a quick chat as they reminisce on how close the wedding was to not happening at all! The boys first discuss the tragic loss of one of Seb's close friends that acted as the catalyst for his Vegas mission, and in fact the creation of his whole 100things list. They then peel back the events that led up to the wedding, from his first proposal and being stood up at the alter by a mud-wrestling exotic-dancer, to being saved of embarrassment by the worlds most eligible receptionist and losing $1000 of black at a roulette table at the wedding reception. Chiaveli joins the boys to share her account of what happened and reacts to hearing the news from Todd that she was in fact a replacement wife. Awkward! Throw in a cameo from Seb's bestman who seemingly can't remember Seb's name and you have all the ingredients for the one of the most unexpected stories you've ever heard. All of us want to discover our purpose in life, but we don’t always know how to do that. For Sebastian Terry, that path began with making a list of 100 things he wanted to do before he died. But what began as a personal list sparked a bestselling book, documentaries, a reality TV show and a movement to spread kindness to others. Sebastian joins us this week to explain how he inadvertently launched a global movement, how each of us can be part of that movement and how we can create a culture of kindness wherever we work, live and play. In this episode, you’ll learn: How this list changed the lives of others. How to begin making your own list. How to cultivate a culture of kindness.

It’s time to get honest with yourself. How happy are you with where you are and where you’re going in life? It may just be time to stop, actually get to know yourself and what you want, and do the things you love. That’s exactly what Sebastian Terry did. He prioritised happiness and made a list of 100 Things he would do to not live a life of regret. He’s married a stranger, kissed a celebrity, broke a Guinness World Record and more! It’s time to give yourself permission to live a truly happy life and that journey starts here on this week’s episode of Unstoppable. Let’s get in the driver’s seat of how we’re living, who we’re investing in, and how we’re spending our time as we head into the third episode of For the Love of Health & Wellness. Today we’re looking at the direct connection between living a life of kindness and improving our mental and physical health. Did you know studies show that helping others can reduce early mortality rates by 22%, diminish depression, and increase our sense of life satisfaction and well-being? Author, TV Host, and curator of the 100 Things List Terry Sebastian found this out firsthand. After tragically losing a childhood friend, 24-year-old Sebastian made a list of 100 Things he wanted to pursue, hoping it would bring him joy and a life of no regrets, and set out to bring his list to life. While the adventure involved amazing things like jumping out of a plane (naked!) and delivering a baby, he realized his true mission when he met a quadriplegic man named Mark, who dreamed of completing a half marathon. Sebastian helped Mark reach his dream by pushing Mark the entire 13.1 miles. Sebastian’s new mission to spread kindness led him to create an organization called Kindsum, which connects “helpers” to those who are vulnerable and brave enough to ask for help. Sebastian shows us what’s possible by living intentionally and how showing kindness can change ourselves and the world for good.

Today Sebastian Terry, the founder of “100 Things” and “Kindsum,” joins me to discuss how to create your happiness and defining how you want to live your life. After the death of a close friend, Sebastian created a bucket list of 100 things that lit him up no matter how scary or confronting. From swimming with sharks, skydiving naked, saving a life to marrying a stranger, he jumped in to accomplish as much as possible and through the process it revealed what truly made him happy and was the catalyst to his purpose to help others set meaningful goals and achieve them. For Sebastian this was more than a bucket list. It’s about something more far reaching; permission, choice, growth and connection. Listen in to be inspired to think big and be the best you can be on every level. For full show notes and episode resources head to http://stephaniekwong.com/EP44
Known worldwide for pursuing an incredible list of 100 Things that he wants to achieve before he dies, Sebastian Terry’s story is surprisingly not about a bucket list. It’s about something more far-reaching: permission, choice, growth and connection. Affected by a curious mind and the death of a close friend, Sebastian experienced a moment in his life where he asked himself a simple question: ‘Am I happy?’. The answer was NO, so he decided to pen down a list of 100 Things that he’d always wanted to achieve. Following his heart and armed with nothing but a list, Sebastian's incredible story has grown from an entertaining tale of adventure into a global philanthropic movement that engages a growing tribe of hundreds of thousands to not just set meaningful goals, but pull the trigger and achieve them - all whilst helping others do the same. “I thought initially that it would take me 100 Things to reach a state of fulfillment but it’s taken me 72 things to realize that ‘ticks’ are just the beginning. The key to growth and happiness is finding out who you are on a primal level and then being that person, each and every day.” Today 100 Things acts as a conduit, introducing those in need of help to those who are able to help. This latest evolution is called Kindsum. In this way, the journey has become less about Sebastian's list and more about the art of helping. Sebastian spends his time traveling the world connecting strangers to help each other. Turned into a best selling book (‘100 Things’), an ESPN documentary (‘100 things to do before you die’) and most recently a US-based reality TV show (‘100 Things') where Sebastian travels the world helping complete strangers achieve their specific dreams, 100 Things inspires people and organizations to gain perspective, think big and be the best they can be on every level so that others can follow suit. From marrying a stranger in Las Vegas, delivering a baby in Canada and even representing the Mauritian national rugby team at the African Championships (they won!), Sebastian’s most profound moment was when he was first contacted by a suicidal stranger who needed help. 100 Things is no longer about one person, it’s about everybody. Guaranteed to make you laugh, cry and inspire motivation, the 100 Things keynote is like no other and will re-engage, connect and inspire your organization to move forward as one. Sebastian Terry, famed author and motivational speaker, started out on a crazy journey to accomplish small seemingly unimportant things that made him happy, which led him on great adventures to the ends of the earth. What started as one man's journey to find purpose in life has grown into a global movement of people chasing their dreams and helping others do the same. In this podcast listen to him speak about how he took these small things and used them to make a huge impact and how you can too! This podcast is presented by Convene.
Sebastian Terry is tv host, TEDx speaker, and an advocate for kindness. But while he has always longed for connection, he didn't always have the scope of impact on others as he does now. When he was younger, Sebastian tried playing into the status quo. He played sports, he got a degree from college, and he started his own business. Yet, he still ended up feeling lost and without purpose. It wasn't until the death of a close friend that he stopped to evaluate and realized that sticking to the status quo wasn't helping him find his purpose. So he created a list of 100 things to accomplish before he dies. As he progressed on that list, he had the realized that what truly brought fulfillment for him was to help others work on their own list of things to accomplish. This realization helped sparked the 100 Things show on Go90 and the new app to marry kindness and connection called KINDSUM which is bound to make real worldwide impact. Being kind and connecting with others often comes down to just being willing to speak up and give a little time, energy, and care. At the ripe-old age of 27, Sebastian Terry realized that like most people, he had not achieved anything on his long-forgotten bucket list. After the unexpected death of a close friend, Sebastian decided to put pen to paper and create his list. He called it 100 Things and decided to set out on a journey to check items off the list. 100 Things eventually turned into an internationally published book, a Discovery Networks documentary, and, most importantly, an interactive website for people to share their goals and inspire others to chase their dreams. Sebastian's latest project is called Kindsum. Kindsum is a meeting place for human kindness. The organization offers peer-to-peer helping opportunities for non-financial acts of kindness. If you want a good smile, go to the home page of 100things.com.au and look for ”Seb's List.” You'll get the idea. But it's more than a bucket list, it's now a platform for kindness. As Sebastian Terry marked things off The List, he found particular meaning in #26, ”Help a Stranger,” a goal that he now repeats over and over and facilitates in rich ways that have included his own TV show. You'll hear that story, as well as the funny story of how Seb came to represent an African nation in rugby (#44), plus the sad but profound basis for The List and everything that followed. Seb also shares his secret to a happy life, and it's hard to argue with.

After a tragic loss of a friend, Sebastian Terry did some reflecting and asked himself, 'Am I happy?'. His answer was no. Next, he wrote down a list of 100 things that he always wanted to achieve. Over the past 10 years, checking items off his list has become his full-time job. A few of the things on his list included marrying a stranger in Las Vegas and delivering a baby. What Sebastian realized throughout this process is that he gained the most happiness from helping other people check items off their own list. He’s written a book about his adventure and he’s even been in an TV show. His next goal is to develop a way to scale this concept and create a marketplace for people helping one another.
What is your list of 100 things? Author, motivational speaker and TV host/Author Sebastian Terry created his '100 Things' website and book as a way to tick off his wish list. Examples include; he married a stranger in Vegas, ran with the bulls and completed a triathlon.
