Former Navy SEAL Diego Ugalde returns to The Jess Larsen Show for one of our most thought-provoking conversations yet. In this throwback episode, Diego opens up about the journey behind his book Leading From the Deep and the lessons he learned from BUD/S training, combat deployments, leadership, trauma, and healing. Jess and Diego explore the realities of mental toughness, what elite performance actually feels like under pressure, and why so many high achievers unknowingly run on fear, shame, and self-judgment. Diego shares powerful stories from his SEAL career, including combat medicine experiences in Iraq, the mindset required to survive BUD/S, and the evolution of his leadership philosophy through psychedelics and consciousness work. The conversation shifts into something deeper: identity, ego, purpose, and the idea that “love can be the gasoline” behind performance instead of fear. What follows is an honest, philosophical, and deeply human discussion about success, suffering, healing, and what it really means to lead yourself and others. This is more than a conversation about Navy SEALs or psychedelics. It's a conversation about becoming whole. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
A decision is expected later this year by the Spanish government on whether to award a three-year reprieve to Almaraz nuclear power plant's units 1 and 2. They are currently scheduled to be shut down in 2027 as part of the country's 2019 nuclear phase-out policy. In this episode we hear from Marta Ugalde, President of Spanish Nuclear Industry Forum, Foro Nuclear, about the current situation with nuclear energy in Spain, and what the future might hold for an industry which has a rich history stretching back more than 60 years in the country.Ugalde says that the three-year operating extension would allow time for consideration of whether there should be a more fundamental change to the phase-out plan, noting that similar reactors in the US are now licensed to operate for 80 years. She also talks about what impact last year's blackout has had on the case for nuclear energy.Spain's seven operating nuclear power reactors - Almaraz I and II, Ascó I and II, Cofrentes, Trillo and Vandellós II - generate about 20% of its electricity. Under the country's nuclear phase-out plans, agreed in 2019, four reactors are scheduled to close by the end of 2030 - including the two Almaraz ones - while the remaining three reactors will shut by 2035.The Almaraz plant currently supplies more than 7% of the electricity consumed in Spain, equivalent to 4 million homes, and employs about 4,000 people. Almaraz units I and II are pressurised water reactors with a net capacity of 1011 MWe and 1006 MWe, respectively. Unit I entered commercial operation in 1983 with unit II following the next year. The plant is owned by Iberdrola (53%), Endesa (36%), and Naturgy (11%).Key links to find out more:World Nuclear NewsForoNuclearRegulator requested to report on Almaraz licence extensionNuclear Power in SpainForoNuclear highlights role of nuclear in Spanish energy mix Email newsletter:Sign up to the World Nuclear News daily or weekly news round-upsContact info:alex.hunt@world-nuclear.orgEpisode credit: Presenter Alex Hunt.

The best podcast for military veterans, police officers, firefighters, and first responders preparing for veteran transition and life after service. Helping you plan and implement strategies to prepare for your transition into civilian life. In episode 194 of the Transition Drill Podcast, retired Navy SEAL Diego Ugalde shares his powerful story of failure, redemption, and inner healing. Raised in a turbulent home, Diego joined the Navy after high school with dreams of becoming a SEAL. His first attempt at BUD/S ended in failure due to severe injuries and lack of preparation—an experience that haunted him for eight years. After leaving the Navy, he became a paramedic, but recurring dreams of that failure led him back. At 29, Diego re-enlisted, completed BUD/S with Class 246, and went on to serve at SEAL Team Two. He retired after 20 years, having risen to the rank of E-8. But even after success, he felt unfulfilled. Seeking healing, Diego turned to psychedelic therapy, where Ibogaine helped him confront deep-rooted trauma. That experience reshaped his purpose. Now, he's a psychedelic integration coach, speaker, Diego also leads The Trident Approach, a leadership and cultural development consultancy, and is the co-founder of Warrior Side, a nonprofit supporting military veterans and first responders in healing from service-related trauma. Diego's story is a testament that military transition is more than finding a new job—it's about rediscovering who you are beneath the uniform.CONNECT WITH THE PODCAST:IG: WEBSITE: LinkedIn: SIGN-UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER:QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS:SPONSORS:Brothers & Arms USAGet 20% off your purchaseLink: https://brothersandarms.comPromo Code: Transition20Trident CoffeeGet 15% off your purchaseLink: https://tridentcoffee.comPromo Code: TDP15GRND CollectiveGet 15% off your purchaseLink: https://thegrndcollective.com/Promo Code: TRANSITION15Human Performance TRTGet 30% off your purchaseWeb: https://hptrt.com/Promo Code: TDP

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
