A diverse workforce drives innovation, expands markets, and fuels growth. Let's focus on building a future where all talent thrives." He concluded his post on X with the hashtag, "InclusiveEconomy." While businesses began to announce their departures from DEI policies last year, Raikes urged companies to expand such practices at work, insisting that scaling down DEI in businesses would harm the economy.Robbie Starbuck: “I fully endorse cancelling memberships at this point.”McDonald's rolls back DEI programs, ending push for greater diversityFour years after launching a push for more diversity in its ranks,McDonald's said it will retire specific goals for achieving diversity at senior leadership levels. BlackRock Cuts Back on Board Diversity Push in Proxy-Vote GuidelinesThe policy updates remove both (a) numerical diversity targets (i.e., boards should aspire to 30% diversity of membership and have at least 2 women directors and 1 director from an underrepresented group) and (b) the related disclosure-based voting policy (i.e., BlackRock previously would consider taking voting action if a company did not adequately explain its approach to board diversity) – but provides that BlackRock may consider taking voting action if an S&P 500 board is not sufficiently diverse (BlackRock includes a footnote in the policy update suggesting that 30% diversity may still be the expectation).BlackRock's investment stewardship team tweaked the language used to describe how it approaches votes for other companies' boards. It didn't explicitly recommend that boards should aspire to at least 30% diversity of their members, after having done so in previous years. The report noted, however, that all but 2% of the boards of companies in the S&P 500 have diverse representation of at least 30%—and that if companies were out of step with those norms, BlackRock may cast opposing votes on a case-by-case basis. Here's where the ‘winter vomiting disease' is spreading and whyMATT1CostcoNational Center for Public Policy Research filed the proxy with CostcoTheir arguments include…US Supreme court decision at HarvardA $25m judgment in PA for white regional manager at Starbucks who was fired after two black patrons were arrested for being blackThis gem: “With 310,000 employees, Costco likely has at least 200,000 employees who are potentially victims of this type of illegal discrimination because they are white, Asian, male or straight.”This, perhaps, is the greatest ironic argument for “meritocracy” ever made in historyThey point out that the MAJORITY OF THE STAFF is white, Asian, male, or straight… but they don't even use Costco's data, they source census data and just guessThe real numbers:Non management is 44.2% white, management is 58% white - a 14% increase in meritocracyExecutives are 80.6% white - a whopping 36.4% more meritHispanics are 33.1% of non management, 23.3% of management - 9.8% less merit!Executives are 5.8% Hispanic, 26.3% less meritAsians are 8.5% and 7.1%, so 1.4% less merit7.9% executive - so even merit?US Exec management is 72.3% maleSo 80.6% of executives are white, and 72.3% are male - and the argument NCPPR is making is that BECAUSE there are a lot of white males, there is a lot of RISK that THE WHITE MALES WILL SUE YOU if they think they're discriminated againstThink of what they're saying - because you have so many non diverse people, you can't have diversity programs for risk of lawsuitThe response dropped the pretense that the proxy was anything except racismThe proponent professes concern about legal and financial risks to the Company and its shareholders associated with the diversity initiatives. The proponent's broader agenda is not reducing risk for the Company but abolition of diversity initiatives. A 2023 federal district court decision, in a case brought by the proponent, noted that the proponent had "published a document called 'Balancing the Boardroom 2022,' which describes its shareholder activism as 'fighting back' against 'the evils of woke politicized capital and companies.' [The proponent went] on to describe 'CEOs and other corporate executives who are most woke and most hard-left political in their management of their corporations' as 'inimical to the Republic and its blessings of liberty' and 'committed to critical race theory and the socialist foundations of woke' or 'shameless monsters who are willing to sacrifice our future for their comforts.'" National Center for Public Policy Research v. Schultz, E.D. WA. (Sept. 11, 2023). And the proponent's efforts to demonstrate retrenchment on the part of companies are misleading, at best. For example, the assertion that "Microsoft laid off an entirea[sic] DEI team" is simply wrong. It was later reported that Microsoft stated that the two positions eliminated were redundant roles on its events team and that Microsoft's diversity and inclusion commitments remain unchanged, according to Jeff Jones, a Microsoft spokesperson: “Our focus on diversity and inclusion is unwavering and we are holding firm on our expectations, prioritizing accountability, and continuing to focus on this work.” Colvin, Caroline. Amid DEI cuts, Microsoft works to distinguish itself from those responding to ‘woke' backlash. The US Supreme court will release opinions Wednesday through Friday this week. The end of the term appears in sight with things usually wrapping up by the end of June. There are 14 decisions in argued cases still to hand down following the release of nine opinions last week. Those included an 8-1 decision upholding a federal law that bans people subject to domestic violence restraining orders from possessing a gun. Cases and Controversies will cover separate writings that came from seven of the nine justices in the Rahimi gun rights case and how the justices show deep disagreement over the court's use of history and tradition to decide constitutional questions. The episode also digs into other decisions, including a 6-3 ruling that involved marital rights in immigration, and will cover new cases coming up next term. Whether you are an oil & gas executive, a nonprofit, or a crowdfunding donor, this unanimous decision, authored by Justice Sotomayor, stands in the gap between you and ideological zealots armed with the power of the state. The court found that a low-level NY state government appointee likely engaged in “viewpoint discrimination” when arguably threatening insurance companies into dropping the NRA as a client. Jacki explains how this case has implications for de-banking and other persecution efforts nationwide.

CLR Show 1913. Air Date March 1, 2024. The callous, utterly partisan decision by the US Supreme court to slow walk the Trump presidential immunity claim is final proof of the Court's inability to function as a fair arbiter of Constitutional matters, or as a functional component of a democracy. The question is whether our democracy has already passed the tipping point, or if it can be pulled back from the brink in the November election. We must assume the latter and work like we've never worked before to keep Donald out of the White House––and American political life––permanently. With Friday Co-Host David Bach.

Welcome back to This Person I Met! As this podcast approaches its 40th episode (this being the 38th), I only get more and more amazed by all the incredible people I'm able to talk to. On June 26th, 2015, the US Supreme court struck down all state bans on same-sex marriage, which legalized it in all fifty states. This was a massive win for Jason – the University of Michigan Professor that I had the privilege of talking to today – and his partner, as well as all other same-sex couples. In this interview, Jason shares with us his journey with surrogacy, which was able to provide him and his partner two healthy twin boys, completing their family.

The US Supreme court has made abortion access much harder by overturning Roe v Wade. Today, we turn to Canada, where persistent threats to reproductive justice include: sexual violence, gun violence, homophobia and transphobia, criminalization of sex work, reproductive oppression of Indigenous women and girls, privatization of fertility health services, and the racism and colonialism of policing and the prison system. This is Part 1 of a Series on the Castro V Trump Case with main plaintiff, John Anthony Castro, US 2024 Republican Presidential Candidate, hosted by Rev. Renaldo C. McKenzie of The Neoliberal Round. The Castro V Trump case started on January 25th, 2023 when Mr. Castro filed a lawsuit in the US District Court Southern District of Florida against Former President Donald J. Trump. Castro's lawyers delivered the suit to Mr. Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. This suit by Mr. Castro follows another suit that he had filed against the FEC on January 25th, 2022 that the FEC should not accept Mr. Trump's candidacy on the basis that he violated Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the US constitution. According to the amendment, no person seeking elected office who had formerly held such an office may be eligible to run for said office unless congress removes this disqualification. Mr. Castro's lawsuit claims that because Trump provided comfort to the January 6th insurrectionists, he should not be able to run. The case was dismissed by the courts concluding that the FEC cannot disqualify a candidate but can only regulate campaign financing. We explore that briefly before we introduce Mr. Castro. Mr. Castro provided an update on the case regarding the timeline and expectations. According to Mr. Castro, who provided court documents to the effect, Mr. Trump filed a motion on February 16th to dismiss the suit on the following basis: 1. The plaintiff lack standing, 2. If he does not lack standing, he lacks "ripeness", 3. The Court lacks jurisdiction, 4. The plaintiff has not distinguished himself from the public, 5. The plaintiff is not a Bonafide candidate, as he has not registered in all US states as a candidate. Mr. Castro responded to the suit citing precedence and evidence of his candidacy. Mr. Castro has also asked for an emergency stay on the decision to dismiss brought forth by Trump in order that the Writ of Mandamus to remove Judge Cannon is heard before the 11th circuit. Mr. Castro explored the way the case may end up at the US Supreme court and provided a timeline, suggesting that the justices may take up the case in October of 2023 and that the next ruling on the case may come in as early as two weeks concerning the recusal of Judge Cannon who was appointed by Trump and seems to demonstrate partiality. Mr. Castro elaborates on this in Part 1 of the series and explain the poor coverage which he states is not a concern at this time. He revealed next steps for his campaign and the launch of his fundraiser this Friday March 17th 2023. Visit John Castro at https://johncastro.com. The next episode will be in two weeks, and we will provide an update on the ruling and progress of the case on the CASE V Trump Series by The Neoliberal Round Ft John A Castro and host Renaldo McKenzie. US 2024 Presidential Candidate John Anthony Castro rejoins The Neoliberal Round Podcast with Host, Renaldo McKenzie to provide some breaking news update on Castro V Trump, Mikki Haley's candidacy and why it seems as if the Media is snubbing him. John Castro provided some insightful comments on the following: 1. Why is the Media Snubbing you, are you running for President and are you Republican? 2. Why do you want Judge Eilleen Cannon to recuse herself from the CastroVTrump case? 3. Do you think Nikki Haley has any chance of securing the Republican nomination and becoming President? 4. Why was the suit against the FEC dismissed and how has that prepared you for this new case against Trump? 5. How do you plan to respond to Trump's lawsuit attempting to dismiss your case? 6. How soon do you think that the US Supreme court will hear the case" Castro V Trump? 7. Do you think that there is some conspiracy or connection between the media announcing Haley as the first to challenge Trump and Trump's attorney attempt to accuse you of not being a Bonafide candidate? Castro provided an erudite, legal and passionate response to these questions which you cannot afford to miss. He ended on a high note: What's the difference between the BLM protests & the January 6th Insurrection? He stated that both involve rioting or violence, however, when violence is directed at upending a legal democratic process, then that's where the two differ and depart. The BLM were marching against systemic injustice such as Police Brutality. The January 6th riots were attacking the capital to overturn an election, He elaborate and makes this pivotal point as we ended the interview. On Monday Mr. Castro will formally respond to Mr. Trump's lawsuit to dismiss his Case against him. He fleshes out much of his rebuttal to the challenge citing precedence which some legal and political scholars may not have at first considered. He explains this precedence of the Bevin Vs the six unnamed and hos this provides precedence delving into Amendment 14 and article 6 section 3. His argument was convincing stating how Trump's challenge of his suit puts Trump in double jeopardy. Watch the entire show, it promises to be insightful and breaking as we are out front on this news Castro V Trump. John A. Castro is also the President of Castro and Co., and Ai Tax, an international Tax law firm and accounting and tax software company now valued at over 180, 000, 000.00. The justices that sit on the US Supreme Court may be nine of the most powerful unelected officials in the world. Join us for the first of a multi-part deep dive into the story of the US Supreme. We'll cover that origins of the court as well as critical people and cases that fundamentally shaped the contemporary legal, political, economic, and social landscape of America. This week we discuss the origin of the court and the tenures of John Jay, the first Chief Justice, and John Marshall, arguably the most importandt Chief Justice in the history of the court.
Oil price inflation is back... OPEC has decided to go against the US and the US is losing. Maybe The White House should not have used the strategic petroleum reserves for political gain in November. Oil price inflation will be back with a vengeance this winter. Stock up now. At least we are not living in Germany. The Russians may be losing in Ukraine, but they played this hand well. The only one to upstage Russia/OPEC is the Onion who filed an Amacus brief with the US Supreme court... Well played sirs... Well played. The Bank of England is having big problems as well, and very little has to do with the new PM, Liz truss. I only mention England because the Bank of England had to intervene in the markets this week. But they are not alone with problems. The mortgage and housing markets are a mess once again. And we also discuss the yield curve. On October 2, 2022, the US Supreme court heard a case that could impact the quality of water across the United States. Sackett v EPA dates back to 2004, but the forces impacting the case date back to the 1960s and, arguably, centuries earlier. On June 24, the US Supreme court overruled a landmark decision: Roe v Wade. For nearly 50 years, abortion was a constitutional right in the Unites States. No more. “The constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision.” Read the decision. But quite apart from the legal argument, everyone knew this was at heart deeply political decision. Three of the judges in the majority opinion were appointed by the previous president, Donald Trump, who had explicitly promised his voters he would appoint pro-life judges when given the chance. So how should we understand this political decision? Why is the right, always brandishing liberty as its central value, so happy to restrict the freedoms of millions of women? Why does the party who wants a small state, and is averse to government regulation, so happy for the state to intervene in the private lives of citizens, and regulate one of the most personal choices one can make: whether to have a child or not? Is the Republican party simply riddled with internal contradictions when it comes to freedom? Or do they simply understand freedom in an altogether different way? The US Supreme court has overturned Roe v. Wade and dozens of abortion facilities have closed and states are moving swiftly to protect the unborn. Today, I speak to the architect of the Heartbeat Bill, Janet Porter, who began the process over a decade ago of passing anti-abortion laws aimed at the heart of Roe. Janet will tell her story of how God gave her the vision to create this innovative legislation that ultimately led to the overturning of Roe. She will provide us with a roadmap for post-Roe legislation to bring an end to the killing. Janet will bring us up to speed on the next wave of legislation designed to bring FULL protection to preborn children. Please watch/listen, share and leave a five-star review of the podcast. In June 2022, the US Supreme court overturned “Roe v Wade”, a landmark case which legalised abortion in 1973. It came after a young woman challenged the criminal abortion laws in Texas. Her case was heard on appeal in the US Supreme Court. The court ruled that a woman's right to terminate her pregnancy was protected by the US constitution. But now nearly 50 years later, America's most senior legal body has overturned that right, which means laws in individual states will now determine whether women have access to abortion. There has been a huge reaction to the decision in the US and around the world, including on the continent. But should US court decision matter to people in Africa? What impact could it have on the debate on abortion on the continent? Host: Alan Kasujja Guests: Rhoda Odhiambo, BBC correspondent Ann Kioko, anti-abortion campaigner at Citizengo Nelly Munyasia, Reproductive Health Network in Kenya Mallah Tabot, International Planned Parenthood Federation Africa

Mariam shares the history of Kentucky's Separate Coach Law, and Lexington's second African American attorney, J. Alexander Chiles, who took the fight to the US Supreme court multiple times in the 1890s and early 1900s. Kentucky's Separate Coach Law was one of many of Kentucky's explicitly racist Jim Crow segregation laws, and those who fought against it faced persecution, harassment and assault. J. Alexander Chiles was at the forefront of this fight for de-segregated equality.

In the latest challenge to Roe v. Wade and abortion rights across America, the state of Mississippi has brought a case defending a new law which bans abortion once a pregnancy has reached the post-15 week period. In the words of Mississippi legislators, they're bringing this case since there are “three new justices” on the court. Analyzing this phrase, Justice Sotomayor puts it best when she asks the question: “will this institution survive the stench” created by overruling 50 years of legal precedent due to partisan pressures? (Spoiler alert: what these seven Catholics have to say about abortion will SHOCK you). Tune in for: Updates for the ruling on Jan 8th's “large employer” Biden vaccine mandate case Discussion of relevant legal precedent affecting abortion rights The politics of the Supreme Court during other critical abortion cases in American history Legal arguments from Commander Waterford of Handmaid's Tale, arguing on behalf of the state of Mississippi A complete “tour-de-force” from Justices Sotomayor and Breyer in attempt to save our constitution and the legitimacy of the US Supreme court. And most importantly for this immediate ruling, predictions on how the three new justices will rule based on their courtroom questioning. And last but not least, tune in as well for the “Three Balls, One Court” legal analysis section featuring insight from Ohio State nursing student Lisa Ball.

Human institutions operate under the assumption that they are justified. I was going to say human communities, but let's be honest, we no longer have communities. We have institutions. Thanks to Plato (and the US Supreme court), there is even such a thing as “corporate personhood.” So, according to American law, institutions are people too. Listening to the biblical writers ridicule cities filled with artificial and lifeless statues—an old version of modern cynicism about cheap plastic products—it's hard not to shudder at the idea of assigning a personality to the gods that men fashion with their own hands:They have mouths, but they do not speak; They have eyes, but they do not see; They have ears, but they do not hear,Nor is there any breath at all in their mouths. Those who make them will become like them,Yes, everyone who trusts in them.(Psalm 135:16-18)Thankfully, in Matthew, Jesus has left the building.
