Let's talk about self-worth, shall we? When it comes to confidence, I feel like self-worth is something that is often overlooked, but it's vital to our confidence. When we're born we have so much self-worth. But as we start to grow up, that's when our self-worth begins to get holes poked in it. There are people and experiences that we all encounter that cause our self-worth to be compromised so by the time we're full-blown adults, our self-worth is almost non-existent. I could not think of a more perfect person to dive into this topic with than my guest, Tiffany Houser. Tiffany is passionate about people and transformation. As an executive & leadership coach, entrepreneur, and woman of color, Tiffany knows firsthand about the roller coaster ride of self-worth. As the founder of EVOLVE, Tiffany coaches senior leaders who are ready to experience powerful breakthroughs around their self-worth, authentic leadership style, vision, and purpose. Collaborating closely with key company stakeholders, Tiffany also designs and delivers transformative team experiences and captivating speaking engagements. Her vision is to create leaders at all levels in companies and she believes this happens team-by-team, starting with the leader of the team. Leaders who are compassionate, responsible, inclusive, and empowered. With her 1:1 coaching clients, Tiffany uncovers the hidden struggles compromising their self-worth, often lurking in their blind spots. Tiffany's coaching creates massive clarity and confidence by reassuring them they're not the only senior leader in a top role experiencing this and equips them with tools to unpack and transform their self-worth. Tiffany is a Michigan alum, a former SoulCycle Instructor and DJ, and serves on the Board of Becky's Fund. Tiffany fills her cup with her partner Jay, their dog Coconut, and their adventurous life together. This conversation is so FREAKIN' GOOD. Tiffany really breaks down what self-worth is what it has to do with confidence and why it's so important, especially when it comes to leadership. I could literally talk to Tiffany all day about this and I can't wait for you to listen. In this episode of the Contagious Confidence Podcast, we talk about:What self-worth isWhat the difference is between self-worth and confidence How to improve your self-worthWhy the language we use is importantWhy self-worth is important in leadership rolesWhere to Find Tiffany:Website: evolveeq.comLinkedIn: @tiffanyhouser and @evolveeqInstagram: @tiffanyhouserStay Connected: Katie's IG: @katieehawkes Podcast's IG: @contagiousconfidencepodcast Email: contagiousconfidencepodcast@gmail.com
Do you find it hard to set boundaries? Girl, me too. I think most people struggle with identifying when a boundary needs to be set AND actually setting that boundary. I've learned the hard way why setting boundaries is so important and I am sure many of you have to. We don't see many great examples of healthy boundary setting and why we all get into those situations where a boundary would have been helpful. Boundaries are a tough subject to talk about and that's why I am so ecstatic to have my guest, Marina J, on the podcast to talk all about setting boundaries, especially with the people that we love. Marina guides women to transform the relationship they have with themselves and painful dynamics with others so they reclaim their freedom, their power, their light, and their lives! She helps women rise with 1:1 coaching, free masterclasses, courses, and her #1 best-selling book and podcast, both called, Turn Yourself On. She has coached in Shadow Alchemy for 20 years and has also taught Japanese yoga and meditation for 25 years. Marina's perspective on boundaries is so unique and needed in this world. She has such a calming, endearing presence and helped me shift my perspective when it comes to setting boundaries. I hope you'll walk away from this episode ready to step into your power and set some boundaries so you can continue on your journey to becoming your most confident self. When I think of someone confident, the word happy also comes to my mind. It seems that those who are the most confident in themselves are the most secure and seem the most happy by definition. I think that throughout our confidence journeys, we're trying to find the things that will make us happy, the things that make us feel most alive and secure in ourselves. We're conditioned to think that it's material things or situations, but we all quickly realize that those things will not make us happy. Whether or not being a mom is something that's in your future, trying to juggle a life and a career is something that a lot of women worry about. There's a lot of shame and guilt that women feel when it comes to navigating motherhood and having a successful career. That's why I am so excited to bring you this interview with Samantha Tradelius. A born go-getter from early on, Samantha always knew she was destined to do big things. Armed with her brokerage license and natural gift for being a connector, Samantha began her entrepreneurial journey co-founding Commercial Coverage Insurance Agency (CCIA) alongside her husband. Following her success with CCIA, Samantha knew it was time to lean into a passion that had inspired her from a very young age. Having never stopped thinking about the stories her grandmother and hero, GG, would tell her about raising three children as a single mom in the 1950s. Samantha always noticed that in all her stories, her grandmother never mentioned anyone helping her...or asking for help. She knew that her grandmother had done everything she could to rub her nickels together to make everything possible for her children.Inspired by this story, Samantha wanted to utilize her skills as a self-starter and born networker to create a non-profit that provided the much-valued support that many single mothers need. Not one to waste any time, Samantha got straight to establishing The Sparkle Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to helping single women throughout the Bay Area, the Inland Empire, and the Cities of Los Angeles and Sacramento. In just a few short years, The Sparkle Foundation has seen an unprecedented amount of success, thanks to Samantha's sheer determination and passion for giving back to her local community. Sparkle supports single mothers and children with an array of initiatives including enrichment scholarships for children, a Christmas holiday gift drive and back to school backpack drive. In addition to The Sparkle Foundation, Samantha established SparkleBiz, which provides micro-loans for female-owned small businesses, and access to a large, connected network. Since its founding in 2016, The Sparkle Foundation has raised more than $1 million—with every dollar reinvested in the community. Not one to stop there, Samantha wrote and self-published a book and is also the host of growing weekly podcast; InspiHER'd. The word negotiation feels big and scary, doesn't it? I'm always like– I'd rather not. The thing is, negotiations can make us feel uncomfortable or make us feel like we should already be on the defense. I think a lot of us go ahead and tell ourselves we're going to lose anyway so we don't even try. Negotiating is most common regarding jobs, salaries, and job titles but it can also be something that we have to talk about in relationships too. A lot of times, we may feel undervalued or underappreciated or know for a shadow of a doubt that we're worth more than we're getting, it's tough. But these are all stories that we tell ourselves. The key to negotiating with confidence is going into a negotiation knowing what you want and looking at it from the perspective that both parties will win. If you want to know the juicy secrets about how to negotiate with confidence, I am so glad you tuned into this episode. I learned so much from my guest, Beth Fisher-Yoshida and I know you will too! Here's a little more about Beth before we dive into the interview. Beth is a global expert and educator in intercultural negotiation and communication. When we're young, we're taught that it's not okay to have an ego. That ego is a negative thing. Right? But the truth is, we all have an ego. No matter how much we don't want to admit it, we're born with an ego and it never goes away. I love how Oprah describes the ego on her Super Soul Sunday podcast she says that ego is …a person's sense of self-esteem or self-importance. It's often referred to as the “false self”. The ego is your self-image, personality, accomplishments, perceived weaknesses, etc. It separates us from everyone else. It makes judgments, longs to feel special, loves conflict, creates enemies, and operates out of fear. Oprah also says that “the ego has the power to influence or derail every aspect of our lives.” You might be thinking, well the title of this podcast is Becoming Authentically You, why are we talking about ego? And what does this have to do with confidence?Have you ever heard of the term, Ego Death? I hadn't until I met my guest in this episode, Nora Shepard. Nora is so interested in Ego Death that she's even starting a podcast with the name. You'll find out in this episode what ego death is and why it's vital to becoming the most authentic and confident self. But before we dive in, I want to tell you a little bit more about my guest, Nora. Nora Shepard sits at the intersection of process and people. She is a founding member of the award-winning personal branding firm SimplyBe. Agency and since its inception, Nora has built the frameworks and processes that today serve as the bedrock of the organization. Today she serves as their Head of Business Development, spearheading the expansion into new markets and oversees all new partnerships, growing the company to multi-seven figures alongside its other founders. She is especially passionate about helping others embrace their ego deaths in pursuit of a freer life.I could literally talk to Nora for hours, as you can tell by the length of this episode, but I promise, it's worth listening to the full episode! In this episode of the Contagious Confidence Podcast, we talk about:What ego death isHow ego can be a good thingHow to listen to yourself Listening to your intuition Grieving a version of yourself How to break free of the mindset that life is happening to you instead of for youHow to become your most authentic selfWhere to Find Nora:LinkedIn: @thenorashepard TikTok: @thenorashepardInstagram: @thenorashepard Stay Connected: Katie's IG: @katieehawkes Podcast's IG: @contagiousconfidencepodcast Email: contagiousconfidencepodcast@gmail.com

When was the last time you had a negative thought about your body? How often does your inner mean girl make you feel like the worst person in the world? Was it a couple of seconds ago? Me too. I hope you're ready. We're doing it. We're going where many refuse to go. We're talking about our bodies. This topic is something that so many of us avoid because it's just too painful. It's something that we deal with every moment of every day and feel like we're trapped. Like there's no use in talking about it because it's not going to make a difference because we're so far away from where we want to be, why change things now? I couldn't think of a more perfect guest to talk about this with. My guest is Lizzy Cangro. Lizzy is an expert nutritionist, wellness coach, and multi-award-winning author with a deep passion for helping other women finally get the body they've always wanted without dieting. Inspired by her own journey to love her body, she founded Nutrition by Lizzy in 2017, to help clients stop calorie counting, enjoy eating without guilt, and confidently step into the body they love - and sustain it. Lizzy is a licensed member of the Association for Nutrition, certified teacher, and fitness instructor. Lizzy pairs a scientific approach with empathetic understanding to help her clients silence their inner critics, prioritize their health and wellness, practice self-compassion, and let go of the anxiety of comparing themselves to other women. As a teenager, naivety combined with bad advice from non-experts resulted in an eating disorder that lasted ten years. After much inner work, she reclaimed her body confidence, and now uses her journey to inspire and motivate others to rebel, unleash their inner power, and reclaim their own self-love.I promise that you're not going to want to skip this episode. Have you heard of Human Design? If not, I'm sure you'll want to know more about it after listening to this episode. Human Design is essentially a holistic self-knowledge system. The Human Design practice combines astrology and a few ancient texts and philosophies that center around the division of personalities into five energy types that indicate how someone is supposed to exchange energy with the world. I knew a little bit about Human Design, enough to be intrigued. I had heard about listening to other podcasts and have a few friends that are into it, but beyond that, I didn't really know that much. Basically, you can search “Human Design” on google and find a website where you have to enter the day, the month the exact time, and the location of your birth and you'll get your results. It's pretty easy! While I was preparing for this episode I wanted to make sure I got everything exactly right, so I pulled out my birth certificate! If you're still like “huh”? Don't worry, my guest, Allie Tymo explains it a lot better than I can. Allie Tymo is a Brand Strategist and Energetic Embodiment Coach who helps purpose-led entrepreneurs and creators grow and scale their businesses using strategies anchored in authenticity and alignment. Allie believes that a business is a vehicle to express a soul's purpose and the breeding ground for healing, transformation, and expansion in all areas of life. She uses the embodiment of her client's unique energetics and Human Design while integrating aligned strategy, brand creation, launching, selling, and content creation to create impactful online brands. Allie is an expert at bringing big visions into reality while helping business owners embody a new standard of leadership.Allie left me speechless quite a few times throughout this interview because even though I had just met her over the computer screen she was able to tell me so much about myself based on my chart. I have learned throughout the past couple of years and especially through doing this podcast that truly knowing yourself and embracing yourself for who you are can help you become your most confident self. Something like Human Design can really help you unlock how you exchange energy in this world and free you from feeling the guilt and shame around not fitting into the standards that have been set for us in this world. We communicate with people every single day, whether it's in person, over the phone, zoom call, text, or email. When it comes to our confidence journey it's important for us to feel confident in our speech. I used to be very quiet, but as I've grown up, I have found my voice a little bit more, but still, I really struggle with not feeling confident in my voice and whether people hear me. But it doesn't stop there. Oftentimes, my brain is going a million miles an hour and I am trying not to forget what I want to say, but then I also want to make sure that the person I am talking to actually hears what I am saying. Sometimes I wish I could just break through all of these thoughts I am having and come across as the smart, confident person I know that I am. I know that I am not alone in feeling this way, and I think that many of you probably struggle with feeling confident in your communication on some level. That's why I am so excited to bring you my conversation with the delightful Ryan O'Shea. Ryan O'Shea is a Los Angeles-based voice, accent, and communication coach. Is there something about you that you feel you need to hide from everyone else? Have you ever looked in the mirror and not liked what you saw? As soon as I met Barbara Lally, I knew I would never be the same. I was so impressed by her openness and profound insight about her struggles. At the age of 10, Barbara Lally began pulling out her hair without being able to stop. What some viewed as a “bad habit” she may grow out of, the pulling continued and Barbara was later diagnosed with trichotillomania, the hair-pulling disorder. 18 years after her diagnosis, Barbara made the decision to accept her disorder and wrote a memoir called The Trichster Diaries. I love setting goals going into each new year. I usually start thinking about goals I want to have going into a new year pretty early and take some time over the holidays to put those goals to pen and paper. I like having my goals where I can see them so I am constantly reminded of them throughout the year. If you're interested in learning more about how I set my goals, here is the Goal Setting Episode that I mentioned.I recently finished reading Atomic Habits by James Clear and I am so glad that I read it while I was thinking about what I want my goals to be for 2022. As I was reading this book, it got me thinking about who I want to be and how I can build good habits in becoming that person. I also listened to an episode of The Goal Digger Podcast Episode with Jenna Kutcher the other day which inspired me really start thinking about where I put my time and energy. In this episode I share a few goals that I am setting for myself in 2022 and why I am such a big believer that if you put something out into the universe it has a way of manifesting itself. I take setting goals VERY SERIOUSLY.I really am on a mission to be the best version of myself and I know that not everyone feels this way. But I really believe that being honest and vulnerable with you, my listeners, will not only help you think about some things differently, but it will also help me hold myself accountable. I hope you enjoy this episode! You can listen to Brittany's episode that I mentioned by clicking here.Follow us on Instagram: Podcast: @contagiousconfidencepodcastKatie: @katieehawkes
