Adam Hart investigates the fastest land animal in the world – the cheetah! Built for high-speed chases, these spotted cats are slender, with semi-retractable claws for good grip and a flexible spine plus a long tail for balance and manoeuvrability. Cheetahs rely on speed over brute strength when hunting – and can make tight, quick turns to shift course in fast pursuit of their prey. But with shrinking populations cheetahs are classified as vulnerable – so what's being done in terms of conservation and are these projects having any success?Adam hears how cheetahs differ from lions and leopards and learns about their relationships with other predators. He looks at their unique adaptions and behaviours, as well as the different approaches that conservationists are undertaking to try and reverse the population decline. And we also hear about the re-introduction of cheetahs to India. Said to be able to strip their prey to the bone in mere minutes, there are plenty of gruesome tales about the bubbling bloodbaths that occur when shoals of these hardy fish feed in the freshwaters across South America - from up in Venezuela in the Orinoco River, to the Amazon and down to the Paraná River in Argentina. What role did former United States President Theodore Roosevelt have in creating the piranha's fearsome reputation? And is this reputation misguided? Adam hears what piranhas are really like, both in the wild and in captivity. He learns about how these fish hunt, the impact that humans are having on them and tries to establish if they really are as bloodthirsty as we've been led to believe. Do you struggle to live in the present moment? When you suffer with things like anxiety, depression, or even ADHD, it can be hard to regulate your nervous system and just live in the present moment. But presence is where true growth and fulfillment happens. So how do you do it? In this episode of From Survivor to Thriver, we sat down with Adam Hart who overcame his own ADHD symptoms by learning to regulate his nervous system and become more present by rock climbing. Adam knows how challenging it can be and he is here to help us understand how we can begin to push past the discomfort and find our own path to presence. Adam Hart is both a leading expert in nervous system regulation and how to get unstuck as well as a best-selling author whose mission is to help busy parents transform the symptoms of the daily grind into more loving relationships and daily fulfillment. Diagnosed as having ADHD in his teens, Adam suffered with low self-esteem and feelings of guilt and shame as he navigated the complex world of entering adulthood. In his early 20's, the responsibilities and stress from striving to meet societal expectations, led Adam to living with daily anxiety. His racing mind, stuck in fight or flight thoughts, had him living with coping habits focused on escaping life and detaching from connecting to emotions.  All this changed when Adam discovered Rock Climbing in his late 20's. Rock climbing allowed Adam to discover the true power of his nervous system regulation and how to utilize “The Moments of Life” to alter how his brain functioned and how his body performed.  In today's episode, we cover: The impact ADHD can have on your self-esteem The science behind your own ability to reset your brainWhen Adam reached rock bottom and how he climbed out and learned to embrace the present momentThe power of getting in nature and how it brings you back into the present Why you have to work on the relationship between your brain, nervous system, and heart dailyTools to move your brain out of fight or flight mode How healing your nervous system can lead to deeper connection with othersWe hope you enjoyed our conversation with Adam! From ADD and Sugar Addiction to Rock Climbing, Parenting, and Holistic Wellness, today we welcome Adam Hart who addresses Nervous System Regulation. Nothing in this podcast is intended as medical or other professional advice. Please see a medical professional for your specific situation and symptom management. In this episode you'll hear about anxiety that developed from an emotionally absent father. The question of worthiness crops up (as it does for most people) and Adam offers a simple solution as an exercise to try. Breathing! Adam found that a certain breath routine allowed him to control his nervous responses to rock climbing. And the side benefit of that was not being emotionally hijacked as a parent. Listen in as he talks about the idea of Co-Regulating the Experience (for a child or anyone who is in a super-stressed state). Here's his methodology for regulation through breath, and he says it takes just 33 seconds three times a day: Breathe in through your nose to the count of four; breathe out through your mouth to the count of seven. This formula has been around for ages, and Adam puts his own spin on it. He invites you to join him in his Heart Flow Breath Practice at www.ClearImpact.io Watch how this helps you connect you to presence, true presence. You then become a conscious human being holding space for coregulation of another. Be sure to go to www.ClearImpact.io And reach out to Adam at Adam@ClearImpact.io

Are you tired of constantly feeling overwhelmed and driven by the need to get things done? In today's fast-paced and exhausting world, finding ways to combat burnout and unhealthy patterns and prioritize self-care is critical. In this week's show, I talk with my friend Adam Hart, and we delve into these very topics.  This conversation with Adam highlights the importance of breathwork, tackling burnout, understanding the impact of stress on the brain, breaking negative patterns, manifesting abundance, and even addressing adrenaline or dopamine-based habits. Together, we explored strategies and insights to help you as an athlete break free from unhealthy patterns, reclaim your vitality, and create a healthier and more fulfilling lifestyle. Our brain is a remarkable organ, but we have not been taught how to nourish it in modern society. It's a perpetual learner, constantly seeking energy and stimulation, and depending on how you engage with life, it quickly learns where to get its energy. Adam is a transformational coach and the Founder of Clear Impact. Equipped with a degree in Sociology and accreditation from the Canadian Mental Health Association, Adam has been coaching people for over 15 years. As the Founder of Clear Impact since 2005, he specializes in helping individuals experience their transformation by breaking free from self-sabotaging behaviors, burnout, and unhealthy patterns while cultivating the mindset needed to fulfill their full potential.  What You'll Learn from this Episode: How to break negative and unhealthy patterns and reclaim your vitality in life How to strengthen your vagus nerve to be coherent and make positive changes in your fitness path How to overcome addiction, craft your emotions, and design your health transformation  How to manifest abundance without resistance and negative self-talk And much more! “Once you mastered the relationship between your nervous system and brain, you can look at nutrition, sleep, and fitness in a way that manifest what is right for you and have lifelong resilience around your own daily vitality.” – Adam Hart Topics Covered: 00:32 – What inspired Adam to move from Toronto to BC Canada 04:22 – Adam's burnout experience and how he overcame it 08:05 – How Adam got to a place where he started making positive changes 12:01 – Adam's transformation and manifestation of his new energy 14:33 – Six-step road map on how to break negative cycles and patterns  19:34 – How to train your vagus nerve to be coherent  23:16 – Adam's experience and how he applied heart flow to reset 27:31 – How Adam helps people overcome addiction  30:33 – How you can manifest abundance without resistance  35:36 – Experiencing Life with more peace and calm 38:06– The anxiety and fear messaging from social media  39:47 – How to connect with Adam and learn more about his work Key Takeaways: The brain is a beautiful organ, but we have never been taught how to nourish it. Adrenaline and dopamine are two dominant sources of energy the brain likes to use as its survival energy. We are so good at being triggered and locked in what we don't want that we don't have enough time to focus our energy on what we want to feel. Every thought you think and word you say has a vibration attached to it, and if you let your brain be the one that guides your life, you will know where you are because of your symptoms; your symptoms, whether mental or physical, do not lie.  Connect with Adam Hart: Website LinkedIn Connect with Sherry Shaban: sherryshaban.com Facebook Instagram Twitter YouTube Join me November 25 - December 2, 2023, for the most transformative week of your life at the breathtaking Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica, where you will experience the most liberating Exclusive Transformational Wellness Workshop and Retreat on the planet. Why do wasps exist? While many see them as unfriendly bees who sting out of spite, their aggression could be interpreted as a fierce form of family protection. They are hugely understudied and even more underappreciated, with hundreds of thousands of different species carrying out jobs in our ecosystems. Some live together in nests whereas others hunt solo, paralysing prey with antibiotic-laden venom. In abundance, they can destroy environments - outcompeting most creatures and taking resource for themselves - but could we harness their predatory powers to take on pest control? Adam Hart and guests are a-buzz about this much-maligned insect and explore why we should be giving them more credit. Professor Seirian Sumner, behavioural ecologist at University College London, and Dr Jenny Jandt, ecologist at University of Otago, New Zealand.

As a great African predator and a hot-spot on safari, it is hard to believe that only last century, the African wild dog was considered vermin. It's beautiful coat of painted strokes makes it undeniably distinctive. Yet out in the field, this animal is hard to find. Yes, it camouflages easily against the landscape, but years of persecution, bounties and unintentional trappings means it's now one of the most endangered mammals on the planet. Revelations about its reliance on the pack for protection, predation and parenting means every dog matters in its bid for survival. So how can we further stop numbers dwindling? Adam Hart and guests investigate the tools and tales of the magnificent painted wolf. Dr Dani Rabaiotti, zoologist at the Zoological Society of London, and David Kuvawoga and Jealous Mpofu, conservationists at Painted Dog Conservation in Zimbabwe.

And as climate change threatens its native Indonesia, can this hostile reptile adapt to living in closer quarters? Adam Hart and guests dig into how a lonely life may be putting the Komodo dragon at risk... Deni Purwandana, program co-ordinator for the Komodo Survival Program in Komodo National Park, and Dr Chris Michaels, team leader of Reptiles and Amphibians at London Zoo.

Ant-loving professor, Adam Hart, shares his passion for leaf cutting ants with Jim Al Khalili. Why do they put leaves in piles for other ants to pick up? Talking at the Hay Festival, Adam describes the experiments he designed to test the intelligence of the hive mind. When does a waggle dance become a tremble dance? And how do the honey bees know when this moment should be? We like the phrase ‘as busy as a bee'. In fact, bees spend a lot of time doing nothing at all, a sensible strategy from the point of view of natural selection. And where does Adam stand on insect burgers? Producer: Anna Buckley
