This week on The Narrative, Aaron, David, and Mike get into the details of both the Cleveland Clinic’s settlement over fraudulent billing for gender procedures, which established a $2 million detransitioner fund, and the Major League Baseball players who resisted forced corporate speech during Pride Month by rejecting pride caps or writing scripture on their gear. After the news, Representative Mike Dovilla joins the hosts to discuss Ohio's widespread Medicaid and insurance fraud, calling it a symptom of an unaccountable administrative state. He argues that medical systems exploit loopholes to bypass state laws. Listen to The Narrative today! More About Representative Mike Dovilla Mike Dovilla represents the 17th District in the Ohio House of Representatives. From 2011 to 2016, he served most of the same southwestern Cuyahoga County communities in one of Ohio’s most competitive legislative districts. A principled yet pragmatic legislator, Mike returned to the Legislature in 2025 with the well-earned reputation of a thoughtful policymaker trusted by constituents and colleagues alike. In the 136th General Assembly, Representative Dovilla serves as Vice Chairman of the House Finance Committee and a member of the Energy, Veterans and Military Development, and Workforce and Higher Education Committees. During his previous service in the House, his peers elected him Majority Whip and he chaired two standing committees. As a freshman in 2011, he was appointed Chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee. Representative Dovilla is the author of 15 state laws designed to spur economic development, strengthen education, protect senior citizens, support veterans, and improve government accountability. Mike is deeply committed to our community, state, and nation, volunteering in numerous civic, veterans, and educational organizations. He is a scripture reader at his church and devoted mentor to college students, serving in advisory roles for more than 25 years. A lifelong baseball fan and voracious reader, Mike also enjoys cooking for family and friends, traveling to historical sites around the country, and spending time outdoors with his yellow Labrador retriever, Perry, named in honor of the “Hero of Lake Erie.” Do You Have Your Tickets for the Essential Summit? In this special Ask Us Anything episode of Exploring A Course in Miracles, Robert and Emily respond to real questions submitted by members of our Course Companions community. In this wide-ranging conversation, we explore questions such as: If the world is ultimately an illusion, how should we understand injustice and suffering? What responsibility do we have for our behavior toward others? Can a holy relationship become special? How much responsibility do we carry for healing a difficult relationship? What does the Course say about self-esteem, people-pleasing, and childhood trauma? How can we see the innocence of political leaders who appear to be causing harm? Does the Course have a view on diet and nutrition? Why do many Course students hesitate to tell others they study A Course in Miracles? Where did the "tiny mad idea" come from? Can we communicate with loved ones who have passed on? Why is guidance sometimes so difficult to hear? How should we approach legal disputes, self-defense, war, and military service? Is there a connection between thoughts and illness? And yes—we even answer questions about our own relationship and how we navigate everyday disagreements. Whether you're a longtime student or just beginning your journey with the Course, this episode offers practical wisdom, thoughtful reflection, and honest conversation about applying these teachings to real life. ___________________________ Since 1993, our purpose has been to help with both the theory and practical application of A Course in Miracles. SAP and Enterprise Trends Podcasts from Jon Reed (@jonerp) of diginomica.com
In collaboration with ASUG Talks, we bring you another live edition of "Ask us Anything," recorded on the SAP Sapphire show floor during the ASUG annual conference as well. After the day two keynote, ASUG CEO Geoff Scott, Josh Greenbaum and Jon Reed fielded questions from the live show floor audience. As expected, there were some doozies, and some curveballs. From AI skills imperatives to outcome-based pricing, to the infamous "magic genie to change SAP" question, the seats were hot and the convo was interesting. We took as many questions as we could before running out of time - but we'll take more questions during a summer follow-on in July. Note: this podcast has already been released on ASUG Talks. You may notice a few differences in the recordings, as I tend to go with a raw file, as is the tone of my channel.

Mike Tyson made $400 million and ended up $23 million in debt. A janitor named Ronald Reed made minimum wage his whole career and left $8 million to charity. The difference had nothing to do with income — and everything to do with one rule. That's where this conversation starts. Linda and I were guests at a church for their "Money Talks" series and the questions were so good we wanted to bring this to the podcast. We walk through the John Wesley framework we based our whole book on (make all you can, save all you can, give all you can — and enjoy it), the one number that tells you whether you're moving forward or backward financially, why net worth is actually the wrong thing to track as a Christian, the "Never 100 Rule" that changed everything for us, the one-category budget that works when every other budget fails, and what happened when we started giving in a way that felt irresponsible but resulted in our mortgage being paid off in three years. If you enjoyed this, we'd love to send you a free copy of our book — you just cover shipping. It has over 1,000 5-star reviews on Amazon. Grab it at seedtime.com/free. WHAT WE COVER IN THIS EPISODE Here's a little of what we cover in this episode: Why "net worth" is actually the wrong metric for Christians — and what to track instead The one number that tells you whether you're moving forward or backward financially right now The Never 100 Rule: the single rule that makes all the difference between building wealth and staying stuck Why Mike Tyson went broke (and what it has to do with your budget) The one-category budget — why it gets 80% of the results of full budgeting with 20% of the effort Why willpower-based budgeting always fails — and what to do instead The giving account that made generosity actually fun (instead of a guilt trip) What Bob and Linda would tell their 19-year-old selves about money How to handle money differently when you and your spouse are total opposites BIBLE VERSES MENTIONED 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 2 Corinthians 8-9 Proverbs (referenced as a daily reading practice — one chapter per day) RESOURCES MENTIONED Simple Money, Rich Life (the book) Assets Under Management free resource DISCLAIMER Obligatory legal disclaimer: I'm a financial educator, not your financial advisor, investment advisor, tax pro, or lawyer. Is the recent corporate retreat from "Pride Month" just a shallow cultural wave that will crash back once the tides change? Without biblical grounding, it seems unlikely this slight move away from worshipping lust and debauchery will be sustained. And while Ohio's school choice expansion has public schools crying foul, The Narrative hosts think the worst-performing, hyper-funded schools should face real accountability. We're diving back into our mailbag to answer more of your burning sharky questions! In this episode we address all sorts of fascinating queries such as how bioluminescence evolved in sharks, which species are capable of breathing while they're not swimming, and whether sharks are really older than trees. Plus, we take deep dives into several awesome species – great white sharks, grey reef sharks, pocket sharks and of course, James' favourite, the velvet belly lantern shark. Specific question timestamps: Q1: Are there any shark species that are showing signs of adapting well to climate change? [3.36 – 10.21] Q2: Has there ever been more observations of any of the two species of Mollisquama (pocket sharks)? [10.31 – 13.20] Q3: How did bioluminescence in species like the pocket shark evolve? Was it independent, or did their last common ancestor have bioluminescent fluid? [13.40-15.11] Q4: We rarely hear about white sharks in the vicinity of South America, either ocean, with the exception of seasonal migrations of NA white sharks into the US South Atlantic coast and Caribbean. My question is: why not? [15.22 – 21.49] Q5: Which shark species can stay still and breathe through buccal pumping? [21.59-28.44] Q6: Which species of shark and ray are most closely related? [28.54 – 37.50] Q7: What is the most surprising thing you've learnt in your career (when you first started, vs. most recently)? [37.58 – 44.58] Q8: Shark [bite incidents] often go unreported for various reasons despite the best efforts of educational institutes to accurately record them. What do you think the real number of global [incidents] might be? [45.06-52.14] Do you have any questions you'd like researched and answered on the pod? Get in touch! Vulture critic Roxana Hadadi joins Adam to break down the first theatrical Star Wars feature in eight years, The Mandalorian and Grogu. They discuss whether its wall-to-wall action reveals true character, how the helmet creates a literal performance straitjacket, and if the film works for anyone walking into the theater without three seasons of television homework. Then, they pivot to a very different kind of crew in Boots Riley’s politically uncompromising sophomore feature I Love Boosters. Somebody books a big role and everybody says the same thing. They got lucky. They just got lucky. And yes. Of course luck plays a role in this industry. It can be the luck of being in the right place, right time, right project. You're just the right actor. But if you look closely at actors who work consistently, not flash in the pan, but those who have a consistent career, something else becomes very clear. What looks like luck from the outside is usually preparation meeting opportunity. What Actors Think Luck Looks Like There's this idea that a career unfolds like this. One audition, one big booking, and everything changes overnight. I remember thinking that as a young, and I'm going to add this word in, foolish actor. That makes a great story. But the reality is that most overnight success stories look very different. Usually it involves years of training. Usually it involves hundreds of auditions. One of the things I used to say to myself was this is one audition in a lifetime of auditions. You're going to be auditioning and auditioning and auditioning. It's just one audition. It also involves building relationships over time with casting directors, directors, writers, producers. And so many roles that didn't lead anywhere. I have one particular story where I got into the orbit of one of the biggest television producers out there. They really liked me. I had a recurring role on their show. And then it got canceled after one season. That wasn't bad luck. That was just a role that looked like it was really going to go somewhere, but because I wasn't savvy enough about the business back then, it eventually dried up. Success Doesn't Happen to You The amazing Jen Sincero says success doesn't happen to you. It happens because of you. When you see success as luck you are accidentally handing over your power. Just giving it over. Preparation is something people don't see. Just like an Olympic figure skater. You don't see the hours of preparation. You see one performance. Working actors tend to have one thing in common. They are ready when the opportunity appears. And that readiness includes strong audition skills, strong self-tape skills, professional materials, a clear understanding of their casting type, and comfort being themselves on camera. When the right audition arrives they are able to deliver. And as a casting director that is the biggest thing I am begging actors to do. I want them to deliver the goods. Instead of seeing opportunities as a rare miracle, working actors see them as moments to be prepared for. Preparation creates confidence and confidence creates opportunity. That's an energetic thing. That's a mindset thing. Relationships Look Like Luck Too Casting directors remember actors. Agents and managers submit the actors they trust to deliver. Directors bring people back who are great to work with. From the outside that might look like someone suddenly got a break. But very often that opportunity is the result of years of consistent professionalism. Luck Favors Momentum Luck favors movement. Momentum. Good things, good energy comes out of momentum. The idea of just waiting to be noticed doesn't work. Opportunity usually appears when you are already working. Work begets work. And it doesn't even have to be something big. It can be something small. Work begets work. Working actors train, they create projects, they audition. They meet collaborators at film festivals, meet and greets, industry events. The universe can only respond to the energy you are putting into motion. Actors who stay active tend to encounter more opportunities. It just makes logistical sense. But from the outside, yeah, that can sometimes look like luck. The Bottom Line Yes, there is an element of unpredictability in this business. But luck alone will not sustain a career. What sustains a career is preparation, relationships, consistency, and confidence. Being good at your job, but knowing you are good at your job. Luck may open the door. But preparation is always what will allow you to walk through it. Want to Keep the Conversation Going? Mandy and I do a free Ask Us Anything session pretty much every month. Hello Brave Friends! This is an Ask Us Anything episode in which YOU, the listener, get to write or call in and, you guessed it, ask us anything. In this Ask Us Anything episode, #257, we're responding to the question:“HI LADIES. I know the new book is coming out soon. I am very excited! What's a question you were afraid to ask early on as a mom — and what's the answer you wish someone had given you?”In this heartfelt conversation, Jessica Patay, Susanna Peace Lovell, and Dr. Zoe reflect on the fears, grief, uncertainty, and unspoken questions they each carried early in their caregiving journeys. The hosts share personal stories about the questions they were afraid to voice out loud—questions about identity, marriage, loneliness, resentment, joy, the future, and whether they would ever truly feel okay again. Together, they explore how silence and shame can keep caregivers isolated, and why honest conversations and community support are so important.Jessica, Susanna, and Dr. Zoe also discuss the answers they wish someone had given them earlier: that grief and joy can coexist, that perfection is not required, that asking for help is healthy, and that caregivers deserve support and compassion too.Throughout the episode, the hosts emphasize that there is no “perfect” way to navigate caregiving and that vulnerability can become a powerful pathway toward healing and connection. This episode is a tender reminder that many of the questions caregivers are afraid to ask are actually deeply human—and that no one should have to carry those fears alone.Keep the questions coming—we're here to support you. This week on The Narrative, Aaron and David address the Supreme Court’s 7–2 ruling that blocked a 5th Circuit decision that had temporarily restricted mail-order abortion pills nationwide. Justice Thomas’s fierce dissent invoked the Comstock Act against mailing drugs, and the FDA Director Marty Makary’s abrupt resignation brought renewed hope to many pro-life advocates. On a related note, in Ohio, David recently testified in favor of House Bill 324, the Patient Protection Act, which mandates in-person doctor visits and bans mail delivery for high-risk drugs. The legislation effectively defeats pro-abortion objections at the Statehouse by neutrally targeting all high-risk medications rather than uniquely targeting abortion. After the news, Parker Thayer, a researcher with Capital Research Center and contributor to the Daily Wire, shares his insights on the massive Medicaid home-care fraud scheme in Ohio that proved the state’s optional GPS and signature verification systems failed to track actual patient care. Following the report's publication, Ohio implemented a total freeze on new home-care companies and restored mandatory GPS tracking. Listen now or queue up the podcast for your commute!

They walk through benefits like complimentary breakfast, property credits, room upgrades, and flexible booking options while also sharing real examples of how they've personally used these luxury hotel programs. By the end of this episode, you'll have a clearer framework for maximizing luxury hotel programs through your credit cards, choosing the right option for your goals, and making the most of elite-style benefits without traditional hotel loyalty status.
