At the highest point of the Castle Eschatonica, the crew of the Little Snail and Team ABC finally find some answers to their most desperate questions. And yet, many mysteries remain, perhaps most of all: How can they escape this castle and return to the paths from which they were pulled away? For that, the answer is simple: Walk on… and beware the True Beckonings. This week on Perpetua: The Castle Eschatonica 08 Perpetua Guide [In Progress v.0599] Some Feedback [Page 59 of 60] Alukard83 So does anyone know what happens if you don't resist the beckonings? TheUnforgivenIII That depends on which one it is, right? Don't you just get the thing? Alukard83 But aren't some of them really big changes? Like sure, if you get the pet landshark, you just get the companion added to your sheet. But if Elena retires to takeover her family's bar, doesn't wouldn't that like, end the story for her? FriendOfNei Woah, I didn't get either of those options when I hit the True Beckonings chapter. What the heck! For me, Elena was offered the chance to build her own megadungeon, and there was nothing shark related for anyone (land or sea or otherwise). Anyone know what's going on here?I promise I'm not freaking out and leaving this time, I just really want to know what I missed! xXZelgadyskXx Maybe it's random? Has anyone tried loading up a save from before the Beckonings to see if it's always the same? TheUnforgivenIII I just tried and it SUCKS, it takes SO LONG. The only save point is before you meet Gnova so you have to wait through THAT WHOLE UNSKIPPABLE CUTSCENE and all that text before you get to even SEE the Beckonings again, and it was all the same for me anyway. Doom_Tree_Anne Since the "True Beckonings" are meant to relate to what someone really desires deep down inside, maybe it's tied to how you've been playing? TheDiamondRanger The official guide says it's just random, so it's probably just random, right? FriendOfNei Maybe… But sometimes those guides get stuff wrong. That's part of what made me want to do write my own FAQs to begin with. When I played the first Alteros game, the official guide said that you could only get the Ill Wings of Deadwind OR the Black Wings of Night, but not only was it totally possible to get both, you needed both to get the best epilogue. Which is really my question (and I'm not sure if I trust that the official guide knows the right answer, sorry Diamond): Do you think the game punishes you for following the beckonings with a worse ending, or do you think you can accept what they say on their face? Doom_Tree_Anne Hmm. Well, this is my own opinion, but I sort of think some of them are their own punishment, ya know? Like, it's the difference between you getting to write the walkthrough you wanted to see in the world vs just buying it ready made. Actually getting to write it is its own reward. CarlsSr Sounds like someone who can't afford the strategy guide lol

GDP Script/ Top Stories for January 13th Publish Date: January 13th From the BG AD Group Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Tuesday, January 13th and Happy Birthday to Julia Louis Dreyfus I’m Peyton Spurlock and here are your top stories presented by KIA Mall of Georgia. Former Buford star Zach Smith conquers final peak to complete Seven Summits Man found shot to death at Snellville area home Children’s Museum of Atlanta to debut 'AIM HIGH: Soaring with the Tuskegee Airmen' All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: Kia Mall of Georgia - Sugar Hill Ice Skating Rink STORY 1: Former Buford star Zach Smith conquers final peak to complete Seven Summits In early December, Zach Smith—former Buford football standout turned mountaineer—wrapped up something most of us can only dream about: climbing the last of the Seven Summits. On Dec. 1, he stood atop Mount Vinson in Antarctica, completing a journey fewer than 500 people have ever achieved. And this wasn’t just any year for Smith. In 2025 alone, he also summited Carstensz Pyramid in February and Mount Everest in July. Three summits. One year. Getting to Antarctica was no small feat. After a whirlwind of flights, freezing temps and carrying double provisions, Smith and his team lucked out with good weather, summiting in a week. Others weren’t so lucky, stuck on the mountain for days. Why three summits in one year? “It was about timing,” Smith said. “I was already in peak shape, and my wife and I decided it made sense to go for it.” But now? He’s ready for a slower pace. STORY 2: Man found shot to death at Snellville area home Gwinnett police are digging into a homicide after a man was found dead early Sunday in unincorporated Snellville. It was around 3:10 a.m. when officers got a call about someone down on Saddle Ridge Drive. When they arrived, they found a man—already gone—apparently from a gunshot wound. Detectives are on it, interviewing witnesses, while the Crime Scene Unit combs through the area for evidence. Police say it looks like an isolated incident, so there’s no threat to the public. The victim’s name hasn’t been released yet. Got info? Call detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. STORY 3: Children’s Museum of Atlanta to debut 'AIM HIGH: Soaring with the Tuskegee Airmen' The Children’s Museum of Atlanta is kicking off 2026 with something special: “AIM HIGH: Soaring with the Tuskegee Airmen.” Opening Jan. 17, this hands-on exhibit dives into the history and legacy of the first Black military aviators, blending their groundbreaking story with the science and wonder of flight. Timed perfectly with Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the exhibit celebrates resilience, courage, and the belief that opportunity shouldn’t be limited by race. From climbing into a life-size cockpit to designing their own wings, kids can explore aviation through play. There’s even a Smithsonian companion exhibit, “Black Wings,” spotlighting African Americans’ contributions to flight—from early pioneers to modern astronauts. Running through May 10, AIM HIGH invites kids to dream big, imagine themselves as pilots, engineers, and innovators—and maybe even take flight someday. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We’ll be right back Break 2: Ingles Markets STORY 4: Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office employee arrested on child molestation charges A former probationary employee of the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office has been arrested after an investigation into crimes against children, police said. It started Jan. 5, when a parent reported finding explicit messages sent to her underage daughter. Detectives with the Special Victims Unit identified 21-year-old Rylee Willis of Stone Mountain as the suspect. At the time, Willis was employed by the Sheriff’s Office but still in his probationary period. Willis now faces two counts each of child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes. He’s being held without bond. STORY 5: Gwinnett County hosting 911 Communications Hiring Event on Jan. 31 Ever wondered what it’s like to be the calm voice on the other end of a 911 call? Gwinnett County’s E911 Communications Division is hosting a hiring event and open house on Jan. 31, giving you a rare, behind-the-scenes look at this critical public safety role. Held at the Police Annex (800 Hi Hope Rd, Lawrenceville), the event includes tours of the 911 Center, live call observations, and the chance to meet seasoned dispatchers. You’ll even complete Phase I of the hiring process—think skills assessments, interviews, and more. Space is tight, so appointments (8 a.m. or noon) are first-come, first-served. Apply online, submit your background booklet, and secure your spot. Perks? A $4,800 hiring bonus, educational incentives, shift differentials, and overtime opportunities. Must be 18+, a U.S. citizen, and have a high school diploma or GED. Details: Gwinnett911Careers.com or contact Investigator Raemie Fransen at 770.513.5565. We’ll be right back. Break 3: EAGLE THEATRE STORY 6: Jason Lane retiring after more than a decade as principal at Mill Creek High School For the last 13 years, Jason Lane has been the principal at Mill Creek High School, a role he never really saw coming. “I didn’t think I’d be a principal,” he said. “But as an assistant principal, I loved helping kids and teachers. Then some mentors saw something in me I didn’t see in myself.” Now, after 28 years in education—24 of them in Gwinnett County—Lane is retiring at the end of the 2025-26 school year. During his tenure, Mill Creek has thrived: academic achievements, 20+ state championships, and a focus on student leadership that Lane is especially proud of. “Our kids are incredible,” he said. “They mentor younger students, run a leadership summit for grades 1-8, and just show up every day ready to lead. I’ll miss them the most.” Lane and his wife, Lisa, have two sons—both Mill Creek grads. Dylan teaches special education in Pennsylvania, and Brady is a freshman football player at Grove City College. As for what’s next? Lane isn’t sure yet. “I don’t know what the next chapter holds,” he said. “But I know how lucky I’ve been—especially here at Mill Creek. This place is special.” STORY 7: Gwinnett senator running for Georgia insurance commissioner The race for Georgia insurance commissioner just got a shakeup—and a Gwinnett County connection. State Sen. Nabilah Islam Parkes announced last week she’s running for the statewide office instead of seeking re-election. First elected in 2022, Parkes is stepping into the race with a clear focus: lowering insurance costs. Parkes has called for an investigation into industry practices, accusing incumbent John King of protecting companies over consumers. “You deserve someone who fights for you,” she said. We’ll have closing comments after this Break 4: GCPL Passport Signoff – Thanks again for hanging out with us on today’s Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. When we talk about the future of technology, it is easy to focus on the tools, trends, and innovations that dominate headlines. But behind every breakthrough is a human story, and behind every system are individuals navigating an industry that has not always welcomed them equally. That is why I sat down with Sue Harnett, founder and CEO of Rewriting the Code, to learn more about the real work being done to support and elevate women in technology. What followed was a wide-ranging conversation that brings clarity to an often-overlooked challenge and offers insight into what real change looks like. Rewriting the Code is more than a community. It is a global network of over 35,000 women who are united by shared goals and driven by the ambition to create a more inclusive tech industry. Sue shared the origin of the organization, born from her own experiences of feeling out of place in elite academic environments, and how that shaped her commitment to building a culture where young women could grow, thrive, and most importantly, feel like they belong. Today, RTC is impacting lives across the globe with programs that span mentorship, career development, technical education, and real-world support. What stood out was the way RTC moves beyond symbolic gestures and instead provides practical pathways. We explored the launch of targeted initiatives like Rewrite AI and Rewrite Cybersecurity, which aim to prepare women for high-demand areas in the industry. We also discussed the Black Wings program, built specifically for Black women in tech, who represent just two percent of the industry workforce. Through focused community-building and peer support, these programs help dismantle systemic barriers that often go unaddressed. In a time where many companies are retreating from public conversations about diversity due to political pressure, Sue's work feels more relevant than ever. She spoke candidly about the fear she's seeing in boardrooms, the erosion of public DEI commitments, and the quiet but continued support from leaders who still believe in building inclusive workplaces. Her message to companies was simple: inclusion must be intentional, visible, and connected to the lived experience of the people it is meant to support. What this episode reveals is not only the importance of creating opportunities, but also the power of belief. The belief that women belong in every corner of the tech world, and that with the right community, mentorship, and visibility, they can redefine what leadership looks like. So how is your organization showing up for underrepresented talent in tech, and what will it take to turn good intentions into lasting impact?
In “Perfekt Geweckt” haben wir heute den Gemeindesong für St. Agatha präsentiert. Wir haben eine weitere Runde "Mega-März-Memory" gespielt. Und wir haben mit euch den Black Wings den letzten Push gegeben.

The TeacherCast Podcast – The TeacherCast Educational Network
In this episode, Jeffrey Bradbury and Diane Manser discuss the importance of increasing female representation in the technology sector with Sue Harnett, founder of Rewriting the Code. They explore the challenges women face in tech education, the significance of community support, and the role of tech companies in fostering diversity. The conversation emphasizes the need for mentorship, the importance of representation, and strategies to encourage young women to pursue careers in technology. This podcast episode emphasizes the need for building networks and community to empower young women in their career paths, ultimately highlighting the positive impact of these initiatives on their confidence and success in the tech industry. If you are a new listener to TeacherCast, we would love to hear from you. Please visit our Contact Page and let us know how we can help you today! To get our weekly Instructional Coaching Tips sent right to your inbox, please subscribe to our weekly newsletter. In This Episode … The critical need for women in tech, and WHY itʻs essential to encourage and foster their interest in STEM and technology early. The numbers show that 40-45 percent of introductory computer science and engineering students are women. But only two courses later, half of the women have disappeared. Furthermore, 50 percent of early career STEM women are abandoning the field by age 35. The importance of women-in-tech organizations, and the support/funding for these. Recently, Women Who Code and Girls in Tech (somewhat similar nonprofits) announced their closures, sparking major concerns about stalled progress on increasing diversity in the tech industry. RTC fosters three vibrant racially-affirming women communities: “Latinas de RTC,” “Tech Natives”, and “Black Wings”, providing support, community and resources for these groups as they navigate their college tech journeys. In 2023, Black women represented only 2.2 percent of people in tech, and Latina women only 1.9 percent. Black, Latina, and Indigenous women receiving computing degrees have decreased by 40 percent over the past decade to 4 percent combined. With partner Goldman Sachs, RTC created a $1.5M collaborative Women in Tech fund that invests in degree completion for undergrad women in computing, providing rapid-response grants to close the graduation gap for low-income students. Conversation Takeaways Women represent only 18% of computer science graduates. Many women drop out of tech courses due to feeling of not belonging. Rewriting the Code supports 30,000 women in tech. Community and mentorship are crucial for retention. Tech companies need to recognize their role in diversity. Every company is a tech company now. Building trust is essential for underrepresented groups. Diverse teams lead to better outcomes. Encouragement should start as early as preschool. Representation matters in tech education. Career paths should not be limited by gender. Fostering curiosity in children is crucial for their development. Role models play a significant role in inspiring...

Christina Henry is a horror and dark fantasy author whose works include Horseman, Near the Bone, The Ghost Tree, Looking Glass, The Girl in Red, The Mermaid, Lost Boy, Alice, Red Queen, and the seven-book urban fantasy Black Wings series. She joined me on Uncorking a Story to talk about her latest novel, Good Girls Don't Die. Key Takeaways Be the exception. Christina didn't have an agent representing her when she landed a three book turned six book deal with a publisher. Sometimes you can be the exception to the rule. Discover as you go. While some writers have a lot of success outlining their stories, Christina chooses to see where her stories take her. This leads to her feeling surprised at her own stories and hopefully translates to readers absorbing the author's sense of excitement and wonder as they turn each page. The Story may present Itself. We like to think that we are in control of our stories and often sit down with a specific intent as we begin to write only to find that a different story emerges. That's okay—follow your curiosity and not your intention. Write for you. IntroductionJessie Gentles is the 3%. The world of IT has thrived as a highly-lucrative, high-growth industry — but the caveat? You're not going to find many Black women crowding in to become the next IT specialist. As a Jamaican-born woman and software engineering student at Miami University, Jessie represents a demographic that's shied away from IT — one that's representing only 3% of the IT space, but she's not alone. Black Wings is a small, but growing community that supports underrepresented women in IT. Change is on the horizon.Episode Summary 02:42 - Simon shares the meaning behind Jessie's last name, Gentles. 03:14 - Jessie shares her educational background and how it was inspired by a desire to explore the world. 04:52 - How did Jessie adapt to the culture shock of moving to the U.S.? 05:53 - Jessie questions how her life would've been different if she'd chosen to stay in Jamaica. 06:46 - What has Jessie's experience been like as a black woman in STEM at Miami University? 08:09 - Jessie compares the accessibility to technology in the U.S. vs. in Jamaica. 09:09 - How have organizations like “Black Wing” and “Rewriting the Code” aided women like Jessie in their academic careers? 10:27 - How did Jessie first get involved with the Black Wings organization, and how has it impacted her? 12:11 - Historically, why might black women have been underrepresented in the STEM field? 12:56 - Jessie speaks on the impact that mentorships and internships can have on the next generation. 14:49 - As part of the “Hackathon Committee,” Jessie shares what this exciting event is all about. 16:18 - With her background in software engineering, does Jessie have any ambitions to start a company of her own?17:27 - There are numerous ways to network with others — Jessie shares some of her favorites.18:37 - Which professors have been influential in Jessie's journey? 19:47 - Jessie shares what it's been like navigating through American slang, holidays, and new traditions. 23:24 - Jessie shares some final words for students considering a study abroad.

Since the advent of powered flight, African Americans have been fighting for a spot in the skies. During World War I Eugene Jacques Bullard made a name for himself as the first African American military pilot. But Bullard flew for the French Foreign Legion – because at the time, the U.S. military refused to train Black pilots. Later, in 1939, the Tuskegee Airmen would go on to win honor and distinction escorting bombers and flying attack missions during WWII, proving the skill and fitness of Black pilots.Yet, despite the advances of the twentieth century, today less than 2% of pilots are Black, with the high cost of learning to fly acting as a barrier to many. Now, as the nation faces pilot shortages, the airline industry is turning to HBCUs to fill the gap. Major airlines like United, Southwest and Delta have partnered with the schools to fill their cockpits with more diverse pilots. This week on Into America, host Trymaine Lee speaks to Captain Barrington Irving about his efforts to inspire the next generation of Black pilots and about his barrier-breaking career in the skies. Captain Irving is the founder of the Flying Classroom, and in 2007 he became the first Black man, and the youngest person at the time, to fly around the world solo. We check in with Captain Irving's mentee, Tremaine Johnson, who's learning to fly at an HBCU in Florida. And we speak with Captain Irving's own mentor, Captain Gary Robinson, who began his career at a time when there were even less Black pilots than there are today. For a transcript, please visit msnbc.com/intoamerica. Hi there, Music Lover. How are you doing today? Hanging in there? In need of some love and support today in your music journey? Never fear - we got you covered with this comforting and powerful conversation with Essence from Bernie and the Believers (essencemusic.com) and (bernieandthebelievers.com). Essence is a sixth-generation San Francisco native and award winning singer-songwriter. You will love her. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A sixth-generation San Francisco native, award winning singer-songwriter Essence has been immersed in art and music since childhood. And yes, her birth name really is ‘essence' – she was raised by quintessential flower children, her parents being two free spirited bohemian artists from the Haight-Ashbury ‘Summer of Love.' After winning the Grand Prize in the National Lilith Fair Talent Search, essence was signed to RCA Records, Way Cool/MCA Records, and Or Music (Los Lonely Boys, Matisyahu). She debuted with the successful indie release Conception, which garnered much Bay Area radio airplay and press and established a devoted fan base. Essence's sophomore release Mariposa garnered critical acclaim and prompted a national touring agenda which found her opening shows for artists Jason Mraz and Shawn Colvin. Her album Feels Like the Future won the Grand Prize for the Great American Song Contest and 2nd Place in the International Songwriting Contest (out of 15,000 entries). Her songs have been prominently featured on Nash Bridges, Lifetime's The Division, Access Hollywood, and NPR's Art of the Song. “Shape of You,” an emotional song about loss and healing, was the theme song in the film Motherland, which won the SXSW Audience Choice Award. Essence has opened for Tom Petty, Shawn Colvin, Chris Isaac, Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Chrissie Hynde, Steve Miller, Pat Benatar, and Linda Perry. She has played at venues ranging from NYC's Bowery Ballroom to San Francisco's Fillmore and The Warfield, LA's Rose Bowl, and Philadelphia's World Cafe Live. In addition to writing folk/americana, pop, and rock songs, essence expanded her repertoire by creating a collection of charming, catchy tunes inspired by her son that turned out to have a life of their own becoming favorites of families nationwide, loved equally by parents and children alike. Her children's album, A Dog Named Moo, was entirely funded by loyal fans on Kickstarter and was picked up and released by My Kazoo/Universal Music. A Dog Named Moo is a multi-media project featuring a collection of 13 songs, a “T REXXXX” book, a smartphone app, and several music videos. essence is developing an educational curriculum based on the project. A Dog Named Moo was voted Top Kids Album of the Year by Daily Candy. Essence's latest long player could likely be her masterwork. It is a 12- track opus entitled Black Wings which chronicles the trials and tribulations of a failed marriage propelled by dishonesty and addiction. The undeniable weight of the pervasive subject matter is artfully handled with razor sharp couplets, gritty performances and smart arrangements underscoring obvious pain, but doing so with humor, wisdom and eloquence. Says essence of the album, “Black Wings is a story told out of sequence, each song is a snapshot of an event that led to the ultimate undoing of my 10-year marriage. These 12 songs capture betrayal, dark secrets, deception, revenge, emotional warfare, and the unbelievable horror of my worst fears being realized. The stories on this record emerge from a deadly silence, they dispel a facade of a happy family portrait, and they air the truth of what had been hidden for too long.” It is easily heard on songs like the epic, “Headed North,” whose video enjoyed dual premieres in late May with Folk Radio UK and The Huffington Post, the brilliant rave up “Camels & Diesel,” with its effortless melding of roots and rock chant complete with gang vocals and the sultry trad blues vibe of “Honeyed Out” are just a handful of numbers worth spotlighting on Black Wings. It is an album of tremendous depth, without question, putting essence on the same page with Lucinda Williams, Neko Case and Jenny Lewis, just to name a few, all of whom are veritable experts at turning anguish into song in the most poetic yet no-nonsense of ways. To that end, essence continues, “The ritual of writing and recording served as a lifeline to my survival during a very dark life passage. These songs led me through disbelief, rage, loss, grief, and ultimately to healing and reclaiming my personal power and the strength to leap into the unknown– knowing the fear of things staying the same was greater than the fear of things changing. Black Wings has been the key to my transcendence, punctuated by the unshakable synchronicity of art imitating life. As this music is born, I am flying free.” http://www.essencemusic.com/site -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------https://www.bernieandthebelievers.com/ If you found this episode to be healing, I hope you will consider donating to Bernie Dalton, a true musician in need of YOUR help: https://www.gofundme.com/sendberniehome Also check out the Tiny Desk Concert featuring Essence: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPQsEoYHekg Hugs to all of you.
