It's a monster mash on this fresh from the grave episode of DEATH BY DVD all about FRANKY AND HIS PALS, directed by Gerald Cormier. What is Franky And His Pals, you ask? Well, let us copy and paste the write up from the official Severinfilms.com website where this movie is available to purchase, because we are to lazy to write something up ourselves and theirs is way better : From the deepest, darkest depths of the shot-on-video vaults… Hidden from view for 30 years… All your favorite movie monsters are back… And they're ready to party like it's 1990! Franky, Drak, Wolfy, Mummy and Humper – the horny hunchback – descend on the tiny mining town of French Gulch in search of lost gold, but it's Halloween Night, and the monsters soon find themselves caught up in the debaucherous festivities of the local townsfolk. Will Franky and His Pals find the gold? Will they learn the ways of love? Will Drak quench his thirst for human blood? Just how explosive is Franky's flatulence? What's that Mad Scientist tinkering on out in his barn? What the hell is a pee-pee? And does any of it really matter? Directed by veteran grindhouse and adult film producer Gerald Cormier (TERROR CIRCUS a.k.a. BARN OF THE NAKED DEAD, 101 ACTS OF LOVE) and seldom-seen beyond the shelves of small-town video shops, this bizarro monster-comedy is finally being resurrected on DVD and is positively exploding with spooky Special Features! And since I copy and pasted all that from Severin, the least I can do is also add the link so you can buy the movie : TAP HERE FOR THE MOVIEDive into the monster mash with your host Harry-Scott Sullivan and kick back and relax with this hoot and an additional hollar of an episode. This episode originally broadcast on October 31, 2024. The original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2024/10/binary-system-podcast-431-the-exorcist-iii/ Happy Halloween! We're officially in the middle of spooky movie season, so this week we're talking about a classic horror film. It's the Exorcist...Three! Not a perfect film by any means; you can see the heavy hand of the producers who insisted on changing the name from William Blatty's Legion in order to capitalize on the Exorcist name, and then had to shoehorn in an exorcism at the end that makes no logical sense. However, the movie is surprisingly...good? With an interestingly creepy plot, some surprising comedic moments, a couple of good jump scares, and excellent performances by George C. Scott, Ed Flanders, and Brad Dourif (Dourif in particular is not to be missed), this is a fun little experience that's definitely going to be added to our list of Horror Movies We Actually Like. We also ran across some news about the third season of Good Omens, and then Kathryn wanted to talk about having finally seen the original Japanese Ringu, which led to a discussion of all the ways we still love The Ring. Spoilers aplenty for two movies that are more than a couple of decades old. This week's outro is a clip from Pixel Pumpkin by TeknoAXE. Looking for a present for that hard-to-shop-for person? Want to buy them (or yourself) a square foot of a castle in Scotland? Look no further! Therefore they are jumping right to The Exorcist III, the brilliant sequel to one of the greatest films ever made. A masterpiece in its own right. Written and directed by William Peter Blatty and starring George C Scott, Ed Flanders and Brad Dourif. Based on the novel Legion by William Peter Blatty

Is it a Marx Brothers comedy, a dark look into mental illness of Viet Nam vets, or is it a jumble of disconnected scenes. We'll let you decide. Lots of familiar faces in the cast led by Stacy Keach, Ed Flanders and Walking Dead actor Scott Wilson. If you have seen this film let us know your thoughts. If you have not seen it, let me know if you want to after our discussion. PS: Stay out of Biker Bars like the one in this film.

Carp, anyone? Bradford and Eric don't necessarily agree on the brilliance of William Peter Blatty's 1990 adaptation of his novel Legion, a film that Morgan Creek Productions conveniently titled The Exorcist III. And while there may be no end to the bickering, there is full agreement that George C. Scott, Ed Flanders, and Bradford's dearly departed pal Jason Miller act the HELL out of this film. The Exorcist 3 (1990) On this episode I am joined by the one the and only Mr Darren Hall, you can find Darren on Twitter @altmoviesinsta and on Instagram @altmovies and we are discussing The Exorcist 3 (1990) The Exorcist III is a 1990 American psychological horror film written and directed by William Peter Blatty. It is the third installment in the Exorcist series and an adaptation of Blatty's Exorcist novel Legion (1983). It stars George C. Scott, Ed Flanders, Jason Miller, Scott Wilson and Brad Dourif. The Exorcist III is set 15 years after the original film, ignoring the events of Exorcist II: The Heretic. The year that Karras died is listed as 1975 on his headstone, placing the events of the original movie in 1975. It follows a character from the first film, Lieutenant William F. Kinderman, who investigates a series of demonic murders in Georgetown that have the hallmarks of the Gemini, a deceased serial killer. Cast George C. Scott as Lt. William F. Kinderman Ed Flanders as Father Joseph Dyer Jason Miller as Patient X/Damien Karras Scott Wilson as Dr. Temple Brad Dourif as James Venamun/The "Gemini Killer" Also on What The Wookie Watched I solo review Touch of Death (1988) and Fear (1990) Don't forget to subscribe on SoundCloud and ITunes and leave us some 5 star reviews. Sometimes movie sequels are lackluster or go off the rails, but rarely do they attempt a franchise reinvention. With original Exorcist writer in full control, William Peter Blatty created a new crop tension-building scares with the unconventional, THE EXORCIST III. An often overlooked film, this unsettling story cranks out the creeps and ties in the original blockbuster without being a knockoff, but it wasn’t an easy task to accomplish. ▶️Synopsis: A string of killings lead a police lieutenant to a psychiatric ward where he finds his faith tested, along with uncanny similarities between a dead serial killer & a familiar priest who supposedly died during an infamous exorcism. ⏩⏩Discussions include: How Blatty began his writing career, leading up to The Exorcist, then to the novel which inspired EXORCIST III; backstory, development & methodical emotional escalation of the story, plus drastic reshoots/rewriting of the film’s ending; intentionally extreme tonal shifts & usage of humor; uniquely abstract & ambient synth-heavy score; cast performances & bit parts; reception over the years, resurrected original ending, on-set stories & our favorite scenes. **Starring George C. Scott, Ed Flanders, Brad Dourif, Jason Miller. Directed by William Peter Blatty.** ▶️**PICKS OF THE WEEK** —Lindsay’s Pick, CHILD’S PLAY II (1990): The serial killer living inside a doll named Chucky is reanimated, out for revenge & determined to possess the body of his previous victim. **Starring Alex Vincent, Brad Dourif, Christine Elise. Directed by John Lafia.** —Justin’s Pick, THE FIRST POWER (1990): A detective must track a serial killer put to death, then resurrected by Satan & given supernatural powers. **Starring Lou Diamond Phillips, Tracy Griffith, Jeff Kober. Directed by Robert Resnikoff.** ▶️MURRAYMOMENT: On Sister Nancy Murray, Billy’s older sibling, becoming a nun, the reaction of her family, her acting career and shared family traits. ▶️FINAL THOUGHTS: Reshooting EXORCIST III’s climax, plus THE X-FILES and SEVEN connections to the film. ⏩Next Up: GINGER SNAPS (2000)!

St. Elsewhere is an American medical drama television series created by Joshua Brand and John Falsey, that originally ran on NBC from October 26, 1982, to May 25, 1988. The series stars Ed Flanders, Norman Lloyd and William Daniels as teaching doctors at an aging, rundown Boston hospital who give interns a promising future in making critical medical and life decisions. The series was produced by MTM Enterprises, which had success with a similar NBC series, the police drama Hill Street Blues, during that same time. The series were often compared to each other for their use of ensemble casts and overlapping serialized storylines (an original ad for St. Elsewhere quoted a critic that called the series "'Hill Street Blues' in a hospital"). Recognized for its gritty, realistic drama, St. Elsewhere gained a small yet loyal following (the series never ranked higher than 47th place in the yearly Nielsen ratings) over its six-season, 137-episode run; however, the series also found a strong audience in Nielsen's 18–49 age demographic, a young demo later known for a young, affluent audience that TV advertisers were eager to reach.[1] The series also earned critical acclaim during its run, earning 13 Emmy Awards for its writing, acting, and directing. St. Elsewhere was ranked No. 20 on TV Guide's 2002 list of "The 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time",[2] with the magazine also selecting it as the best drama series of the 1980s in a 1993 issue.[3] In 2013, TV Guide ranked the series No. 51 on its list of the "60 Best Series of All Time".

Welcome to the first Horror 101 Threequel podcast for this year. In 1973 writer William Peter Blatty and Director William Friedkin collaborated to give us one of the most memorable and important genre films ever to be made. The Exorcist. Several years later the talented John Boorman followed up with one of the worst sequels in horror history, Exorcist II: The Heretic from 1977. Fast forward 13 years and Exorcist III: Legion is made, this time both penned and directed by Mr. Blatty. Exorcist III was released with little fanfare but over the last couple of decades it has slowly gathered strength as one of the most fierce and terrifying films to come out of the 90s. With extraordinary performances by George C. Scott, Brad Dourif, Jason Miller and Ed Flanders, outstanding sound design and a smart, patient script Exorcist III has the power to scare even the most veteran fans all while brilliantly ending the legacy of Father Damian Karras. With the recent passing of Mr. Blatty earlier this year we felt our first Part III focus should certainly be his masterpiece. Join us for another great show with a small tribute to John Hurt who also passed away recently at 77. Show highlights: 01:00 Prelude to Terror... 03:00 The John Hurt tribute... 10:20 The genesis of The Exorcist... 15:00 Exorcist 3 in 1990... 17:00 The friendship of Kinderman and Dyer... 20:55 An evil gets closer... 24:30 The Gemini Killings... 26:10 The possession of Karras... 27:30 Brad Dourif... 30:05 The Hallway Scare of the Century... 32:20 A clear invitation to the dance... 35:20 The end of Karras' Story... 37:15 Scoring the film... 41:15 Conclusion!
