Earlier this year, we conducted a state of the product industry survey. We had 925 people respond. We found that 15% of respondents are not utilizing email marketing to reach their audiences. My jaw fell to the floor! I've talked about why email marketing is so important in previous episodes. The number surprised me because email marketing has the highest ROI of all marketing channels. In today's episode, I want to discuss the importance of quality over quantity in email marketing and how to maintain a healthy subscriber list. This topic arose because I've noticed a significant increase in spam subscribers on my clients' lists recently, and I've heard similar stories from others in the marketing community. This issue, known as "list bombing," is described in Klaviyo's support documentation as "a malicious attack where the attacker exploits a signup form or checkout page by making a large number of fake submissions, filling the associated list with emails and phone numbers that have not consented or are invalid." Although a rise in email subscribers might appear beneficial for your brand at first glance, it only holds true if all the new contacts are genuine. Her original goal was to feature as many types of pasta as she could (with recipes). So far Jacqueline has about 400 recipes for 80 types of pasta! Many more to go! Jacqueline got accepted to MediaVine in 2019 (with 25k sessions) now at 190-200k sessions a month. She can say it's a pretty successful niche blog. But then everybody loves pasta, right?
