Last year on a different podcast Angela and myself watched Fantastic Four from 2005. Although we've since shifted gears to being indie comics focused we decided to do an episode on Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer earlier in the year, so now to finish up our Fantastic Four rewatch we're taking on 2015's Fantastic Four (or Fan4stic, whatever you'd prefer to call it).I won't give too much away, but at this point this is the longest podcast episode we've done. In the Civil War airport fight, there's a super awkward cut to Natasha as Scott and Steve are throwing the "Water Truck" at Rhodey. Ant-man has delightful cut when Darren Cross is introducing "this company's founder and my mentor...Hank Pym". Most of the the scene is shot with the camera slightly below Cross but for a second the camera angle is from above him. This results in him looking tiny for a moment, like a forced-perspective kind of thing. This always makes my family laugh based on the movie being about shrinking things. But, I feel that most trailers aren't trying to deliberately lie to me. Is a line being crossed here? I know Jean Luc Godard said that "Cinema is truth at 24 frames per second." and Brian DePalma retorted "Cinema is lies at 24 frames per second." and I'm much more in the DePalma camp, but I feel that I never like to be deliberately lied to. Yeah, I expect it won't ruin my enjoyment of the film any, but we have to hold the creators we like to the same  standards we hold those we don't like.  Did showing the Hulk in Wakanda ad one cent to the box office? Granted we all knew  months before the Disney/Fox deal  that FF was cancelled because of the film rights situation because Jonathan Hickman basically confirmed  that the comics were canceled over the  film rights still being at Fox(they canceled the comic the same year Fan4stic was released), and not because of the Marvel PR story about the comic having “low sales” but it just irks me that Marvel can be so petty  but  how do you feel about it? Do you think Marvel was in the right to cancel the comic because they don't own the film rights and they don't want to support a potentially bad movie like Fan4stic(which actually did turn out bad by the way) by not giving  it any promotion whatsoever?  Why didn't they cancel  the X-Men comic over the same thing since back then those rights were also at Fox?36:37 Paul ShearmanHey Sean and patrons, hope everyone has had a great week so far. Having now seen the international trailer for Spider-Man Far From Home, we know that Peter has his original Homecoming costume with him when he's is Europe. And we have also now seen the red and black costume being worn in Europe- which from the early set photos last year made it look like he was just wearing it in New York (to me at least).So I'm curious who he gets this suit from, as I expect Nick Fury will provide the stealth suit he gets - but the red and black costume looks absolutely like a Tony Stark design. For example can't there be like a Captain America or Iron Man movie directed by say a Ryan Coogler? And just like for many years women led films have also been helmed by male directors. How about a woman directing a male led film? I loved the idea that was thrown around a while ago for Patty Jenkins to direct a Superman movie.Those are just some superficial examples. What are some of your “must-haves” in the new era of X-Men films which you want to see once they are introduced into the MCU? A few for me are: a more drawn out fight between Wolverine and Sabretooth where they actually get to slash each other up (which they had the perfect opportunity to do in LOGAN, but missed out by not bringing back Leiv Schreiber); Rogue somehow getting her flight and super-strength powers; and for them to plant the seeds of the larger mythology with Cyclops and Jean, where their offspring (Cable) would become the one who can truly defeat Apocalypse in the future. This involves a lot of players including Mr. Sinister, Stryfe, Apocalypse, and should be a long-game plan. Personally, I would hope to see them build up to an adaptation of the X-Cutioner's Song Saga, and play up the mystery that Stryfe is a clone of Cable. Although most important I supposed would to see the X-Men working together as a TEAM. Personally I didn't like either film, and the only thing that I was excited for before ASM 2 came out was Shailene Woodley's casting as Mary Jane. So I was bummed when she was cut out, but I doubt her appearance would have made much of a difference for that film anyways. In any case, that is one where if there was a way to de-age Shailene Woodley to match Tom Holland's age, I would prefer to see her cast as Mary Jane in current era of Spider-man, but I doubt that will happen either. I don't care what anyone says. Fantastic 4, or as it's more commonly known amongst my friends, Fan4stic, is one of the worst superhero movies I have ever seen. And to help prove that point I bring in a certified Doctor who has never seen it before to give me his hot take on the situation. To be clear, all of the Fantastic 4 movies made so far have been pretty rough, but we are talking about the Josh Trank-made dumpster fire from 2015.

Ugh, We're talking about Suicide Squad.   In this episode:   A brief attempt to explain Secret Wars. Scott hates Uber for the dumbest reason. A desperate attempt to avoid talking about Suicide Squad.
