A Drummers Life Originally aired on 10/25/21 on our sister channel - Pop Culture Addicts. In this replay, we revisit our chat with Stephen Perkins, the drummer of Janes Addiction, Porno for Pyros, The Halloween Jack, and a few other bands. We talked with Stephen about growing up and learning about drums. We talked about the growth of Janes Addiction, how that spread out into other projects over the years, how these expansions in projects impacted his music, and his drum playing. We talked about his musical influences like David Bowie, The New York Dolls, and punk rock in general. In fact, one of the new releases for The Halloween Jack is a unique rocked-up cover of the New York Dolls song called "Trash." Stephen and the rest of the band wanted to put this song out as a tribute/ token of love to the glam/punk band Sylvain Sylvain, who died after losing his battle with cancer. Stephen also told us about his most recent project at that time, "Perkins Palace", a new record label for up-and-coming talent that needs an opportunity much like Jane's Addiction did when they got signed. So much to cover, and so much to enjoy!
A tale of Jack, and how he became the name of the lantern.

The Man Who Sold the World, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, alors qu'il n'a que 25 ans, puis Aladdin Sane, Pin Ups, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, Low, Heroes, Lodger, Scary Monsters.. Artiste : David Bowie. Genre : glam rock, art rock, space rock, pop rock, dance-rock, pop, jazz, musique expérimentale. Artiste : The Konrads, The King Bees, The Manish Boys, The Lower Third, The Riot Squad, Hype, Arnold Corns, Tin Machine, the Thin White Duke, Tao Jones, Halloween Jack, John Merrick, David Robert Jones, j'ai nommé, David Bowie. Have we grown past the pursuit of the almighty link above every other SEO tactic? Certainly, since Google released the Penguin update in 2012, addressing link farms and other issues associated with people gaming the system, the idea of getting as many links as you can is not the path toward ranking. But still, links are still a factor. So where do links legitimately fit into a solid SEO strategy? Wix's Head of SEO Branding, Mordy Oberstein, and Head of SEO Communications, Crystal Carter, carve up the links and their role in SEO like the Halloween Jack-o-lantern. There's a shift of mindset that has to occur in SEO. Both Mordy and Crystal agree that there is an over-emphasis on links for SEO. To them, links are fundamentally about traffic and helping users. Creating quality content that makes sense to link to is fundamental and earns market credibility, not “link juice.” Still, establishing quality links is integral to a well-built SEO campaign. The right links from the right sites pointing to the right pages can impact how well you rank. Which is why Debbie Chew, SEO Manager at Dialpad, shares her three best key link-building tactics, from personalized outreach to stats posts to research reports. Halloween Jack, The Thin White Duke, Aladdin Sane... ► À écouter aussi, l'épisode de Réservoir rock : «Wild Is The Wind», David Bowie (1976)

A Drummers Life If you grew up in the late 80's and the 90's then you no doubt heard the music of Jane's Addiction! We talk with Stephen Perkins, the drummer of Janes Addiction, Porno for Pyros, The Halloween Jack and a few other bands. We talk with Stephen about growing up and learning about drums. We talk about the growth of Janes Addiction and how that spread out into other projects over the years and how these expansions in projects impacted his music, and his drum playing. We talk about his musical influences like David Bowie, The New York Dolls, and punk rock in general. In fact. one of the new releases for The Halloween Jack is a unique rocked up cover of the New York Dolls song called "Trash". Stephen and the rest of the band wanted to put this song out as a tribute/ token of love to the glam/punk band's Sylvain Sylvain who died after losing his battle with cancer. Stephen also tells us about his newest project "Perkins Palace" which is a new record label for up and coming talent that needs an opportunity much like Jane's Addiction did when they got signed. So much to cover, and so much to enjoy! . . Major Tom...Halloween Jack... The Thin White Duke... Blackstar... David Bowie inhabited many personas throughout the years... but none as beloved as Ziggy Stardust. As someone that had experience his fair share of success and failure, Bowie was 5 years into his solo music career and was carefully and covertly crafting his magnum opus, going so far as to only play the songs in his side band Arnold Corns until they were ready. However when it was ready... it wowed the world and became a cultural sensation. They toured for eighteen months straight, with Bowie inhabiting the role of Ziggy on stage and increasingly off stage. Eventually Bowie started to worry about his identity, even creating a new persona called "Aladdin Sane" to cope with it, and in one of the most legendary moments in rock history, surprised both the audience and most of the band by stating it would be "the last show that we'll ever do". And that was the fall of Ziggy Stardust... For nearly everyone, Halloween is at most two days of ghosts, goblins, and pumpkins. But for mean spirited Jack, every day is Halloween; and he's not happy about it.
Some may wish every day to be Halloween. Here's the tale of one man who wishes every day was not Halloween!

He was known by many names over the six decades he made music...and for the last 40-plus years, he was the most discussed, photographed, imitated, worshiped and admired rock star in history... No single rock and roll performer had a more profound an effect on our music as David Bowie...all of today’s best alt-rock bands all have a bit of Bowie in them …and that net can be cast much, much wider…Madonna, Lady Gaga, Prince…the list is endless... He was a singer, a songwriter, record producer, movie actor, stage performer, internet entrepreneur, artist, art critic, fashion maven, wall street investment and gay icon... He has been a trend-setter, a shapeshifter, a cultural mover-and-shaker…he’s Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Halloween Jack, Plastic Soul Man, the Thin white Duke...and now he’s gone…he’s David Bowie—and now that he’s gone, it’s important to recognize all the contributions he’s made to our music… This is Remembering David Bowie, Part 2…
All aboard the Pain Train! Vehicle designer Max Acree is back in the studio and dishing out devious plans for new rides in The Wasteland. The Lightning Dogs are coming to Earth with a pretty serious advantage when it comes to tech, so Halloween Jack and his cronies are going to have to get innovative if they want to stand a chance. We look at a variety of designs for the Skeleton Krew's preferred mode of transport for rolling up and terrorizing the peoploid populace: The Ghoul Bus, as well as The Underdog a tool designed specifically for sabotaging The Brutus. However, it's not just Jack that's kicking up dust in these freaky lands... somewhere out there chugs The Pain Train. What it is and who runs this engine of doom... well, we've got a lot of working theories. For links and more info, head to the main episode page: https://nerdyshow.com/2017/11/lightning-dogs-27-the-pain-train/ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
The race is on to create final character designs for all our lead cast, so we decide to kick things off with Dingo - the leader of the pack. While Tony draws and Doug and Cap make suggestions, the gang hashes out Dingo's loner styles both clean cut from Domus, and hardened by the Wasteland. We take considerable influence from Bruce Willy, debate dog communication devices, and even spend some time with our old "pal" Halloween Jack - dissecting his relationship with Glampire. For links and more info, head to the main episode page: https://nerdyshow.com/2017/10/lightning-dogs-the-official-pawdcast-episode-26-the-leader-of-the-pack See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
