How well-equipped is the accounting profession to handle rapid technological advancements and a changing workforce? Are firms ready to embrace the future or stuck in outdated models?Rob Brown hosts an expert panel featuring Todd Robinson, Angie Grissom, Itamar Jobani, and James Hickey to discuss the future of the accounting profession. The conversation explores critical challenges facing accountants today, such as adapting to technological changes, AI integration, talent retention, and shifting towards a more advisory-based role. The panel shares their unique insights on how firms must navigate cultural shifts, embrace leadership, and rethink their traditional business models to stay competitive. The discussion also highlights the necessity of upskilling accountants and the role of technology in shaping the future. The panel dives deep into the transformative impact of AI, the benefits of a corporate rather than partnership model, and how firms can move from good to great by telling better stories and offering more personalized advisory services. They also emphasize the importance of attracting and retaining talent in a profession undergoing rapid change.Key Takeaways:✓ The accounting profession faces a critical people problem with talent shortages, driven by long work hours and declining interest from younger generations.✓ Contrary to fears, AI will not replace accountants but will enhance their roles by automating mundane tasks and enabling them to focus on strategic advisory services.✓ Strong leadership and innovative culture are key to moving accounting firms from good to great. Firms must empower young talent and create a strategic approach to problem-solving.✓ Accountants need to stop fearing technology and start viewing it as an enabler that helps streamline operations and enhance client service.✓ The outdated partnership model should evolve toward a corporate structure, enabling firms to be more agile and strategic.Quotes:"Your top clients are your competitors' top prospects. Are you showing up as their trusted advisor?" – Angie Grissom"AI won't kill the accounting profession; it will free accountants to do the work that really matters." – Itamar Jobani"Firms need to stop doing what they've always done and rethink what it means to add value in today's market." – James Hickey"The biggest threat? Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Diane Ladd, Legendary Actress, Starring in “Isle of Hope” About Harvey's guest: Today's special guest, Diane Ladd, is a legendary actress whose monumental body of work includes some of the most critically acclaimed and beloved movies and TV shows ever made. She's been nominated for 3 Academy Awards for her performances in “Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore”, “Wild at Heart” and “Rambling Rose”, in which she and her daughter, Laura Dern, made show business history as the first mother/daughter duo to earn Oscar nominations for the same film. She's won dozens of international awards including The British Academy Award, the Golden Globe Award, the Independent Spirit Film Award, the Susan B. Anthony Award, and the Palme d'or Award at the Cannes Film Festival. She's been nominated for 3 Emmy Awards for her performances in “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman”, “Grace Under Fire” and “Touched by an Angel”. In addition to her Oscar-nominated roles, some of her most iconic movie performances can be seen in “Chinatown”, “A Kiss Before Dying”, “Christmas Vacation”, “The Cemetery Club”, “Mrs. Munck, which she also wrote and directed, “Ghosts of Mississippi”, “Primary Colors”, “Joy”, and one of my all-time favourites, “The Last Full Measure”, directed by Todd Robinson who appeared on our show last year. And, in addition to the 3 TV shows I already mentioned, for which she earned Emmy nominations, she's delivered some of her most memorable television performances in dozens of shows including “Chesapeake Shores”, “Kingdom Hospital”, and “Enlightened”, once again co-starring the wonderful Laura Dern. She's written 2 bestselling books entitled, “Spiraling Through the School of Life: A Mental, Physical and Spiritual Discovery”, and “A Bad Afternoon for a Piece of Cake”, which won the 2014 Tennessee Williams Literary Award. And I'm very excited that she's here to talk about her newest film, entitled, “Isle of Hope”, an unforgettably poignant and moving film about a mother-daughter relationship that takes a dramatic twist when the mother has a life threatening stroke and wakes up thinking she's living 15 years in the past. Our guest's performance as Carmen Crawford, the mother in this film, is generating enormous Oscar buzz throughout the industry. And that's no surprise to anyone. After all, the renowned film critic Richard Corless of Time Magazine said it best, when he wrote that this woman is one of the top ten actresses not only in America, but the whole world. Todd and his team offer his clients a one-stop shop for all things legal including transactional services, securities law, and capital-raising documents.
My interview with Todd Robinson concludes. We discuss two more poems from his collection MASS FOR SHUT-INS (this book, btw, is out in the world, so buy it!). One thing about Todd is he's very real, and I think all these interviews show that, but here he goes into his experience being there for a friend who had tried to commit suicide. It's harrowing stuff, but it's also beautiful. Some additional highlights: Todd breaks down how he generates writing prompts, I rant about Ted Kooser, and we both ruminate on the impossibility of always being the “best” version of yourself. Later in the episode I go on a solo riff about war criminality and read an essay by Christopher Hitchens… a gifted polemicist who also happens to be a rather dubious dude. Music in this episode is from a golf video game, a song called “A shiver through the”, a snippet from Kanye West, some Post Malone, and a clip from an Amy Goodman-moderated debate between Hitchens and George Galloway.
Eric chats with spirits expert and Copalli Rum Global Brand Ambassador Elayne Duff about a new Belizian cane spirit she's helping to bring to the US spirits and cocktail scene. Some of the topics we discuss include: The story of Copalli Rum as a philanthropic project by marine conservationist Todd Robinson - and how he teamed up with Chef Anya Fernald to create Copal Tree Lodge. How Elayne and her fellow Global Brand Ambassador Julie Reiner are educating bartenders and home consumers about the magic of Copalli rum here in the US. Which cane varietals, fermentation decisions, and sustainable distilling practices influence the flavor of Copalli rum. Some thoughts on the perfect Daiquiri - and how you can modulate the booze and sugar in the drink to achieve the ideal wash line and flavor profile for you. A cautionary tale about the utter folly of comparing spirits aged in different climates Why Eric thinks we need to coin the term “monkey’s share.” And much, much more

Todd Robinson, a badass poet and a true beacon of mirth, joins me for a conversation. We talk about doing whippits, loving Pink Floyd, writing poems, and being motherfuckn addicts!!! Todd gets very real about a terrifying drug-related health struggle he had, but also paints a beautiful picture of what it's like to leave that shit in the dust. One of my fav moments: "When I was sober maybe six months or so, I noticed that the colors of the world were a lot brighter. Greens were greener, blues were bluer, purples were purpler. I'm not kidding dude, like, the world was more vivid. And that wasn't some bullshit illusion, I've heard other people say that, too, that your senses kind of power back up." We also talk about a couple of our favorite poets who don't get a ton of hype... Mag Gabbert and Lauren Ireland. Later in the pod I do a deep dive into an awesome Ireland poem from her book FEELINGS, which is available from Trembling Pillow Press. I highly recommend checking it out. Todd was the first person I talked to for PETROLEUM BOOGIE and basically the conversation was ridiculously long and I had to split it up into a few episodes. So, look forward to the rest of the TODDFATHER TRILOGY in coming days. Music in this episode is Jai Paul, Pink Floyd, Molly Drake, and Kids See Ghosts. There's also some red carpet audio vérité from 1) the wonderful A$AP Rocky and 2) Shitheel hasbeen Topher Grace. Enjoi!

Since the dawn of time, life has been trying to kill other life. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that the first thing that probably happened in the primordial ooze was lifeform #1 killing lifeform #2. Since then, little has changed. We've got war. Lots of war. Vietnam was particularly bad. Even when we're not at war, there's still killing going on, as evidenced by the fact that bodyguards like Evy are so ubiquitous wherever a famous person goes. It's a topic too complex to cover in the description for an episode of a podcast, so watch his movie and read her book instead. An extremely seasoned director of photography, Byron Werner began shooting anything and everything that came his way once he graduated film school. Byron faced several challenges on his upcoming film, The Last Full Measure. Shot on location in Thailand, the film has many practical effects shots and very little VFX. The camera crew shot from helicopters and with multiple cameras- sometimes as many as 5 or 6. The Last Full Measure starring Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson, Christopher Plummer, and Bradley Whitford opens wide Friday, January 24.
Director Todd Robinson returns for Part II with host Kurt Caceres to discuss in detail, the life and process of his film, The Last Full Measure. It's not a war film, nor a religious or political film, it is a love story between men. It took 20 years to make, overcoming the greatest of obstacles along the way. It is a true story of William H. Pitsenbarger, who saved hundreds of Americans during a brutal and bloody ambush in Vietnam, and his heroic efforts started a ripple effect that still touches the lives of people today. He finally received the Medal of Honor, 34 years after his death. An all-star cast with Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson, William Hurt, Ed Harris and Peter Fonda. https://www.provenanceroom.com/post/todd-robinson-1
Director Todd Robinson joins host Kurt Caceres in a two-part series discussing everything from starting out as a director in Hollywood, to the 20 year undertaking to finally complete his film, The Last Full Measure. He won an Emmy for the documentary titled, The legend of Billy the Kid. How he started writing episodic television and the long process of rejections until Ridley Scott decided to green light and direct Todd's script, White Squall. He gives his opinion on winning awards in Hollywood and receiving validation. The screenplay is the blueprint, but the editing room is where you really make the film. Real actors are always walking the razor of fear and vulnerability without worrying about falling off the fence post. They trust the director.
Writer-Director Todd Robinson has enjoyed an eclectic career in Film, Television and Documentaries. Todd has earned a Prime Time Emmy and National Board of Review awards among others. Some of his films include: The Four Diamonds, White Squall, Lonely Hearts, and Phantom. The post Todd Robinson appeared first on Storybeat with Steve Cuden.
Joining the show is producer, writer, and director, Todd Robinson. His latest movie The Last Full Measure is scheduled for release on October 25, 2019 and features a star cast including Sebastian Stan, Christopher Plummer, Samuel L. Jackson, William Hurt, Ed Harris, Peter Fonda, John Savage and Jeremy Irvine. Unlike any film from the war genre, it focuses on the herioc true story of Air Force special operations during the Vietnam War. There is very little about this topic in writing or on film, so you won't want to miss this incredible story, which recounts the true story of William Pitsenbarger, a U.S. Air Force Pararescueman, who continually faced danger throughout more than 250 combat missions in Vietnam. During a rescue mission on April 11, 1966, he was offered the chance to escape on the last helicopter out of a combat zone, heavily under fire, but he stayed behind to save and defend the lives of his fellow soldiers of the U.S. Army's 1st Infantry Division, and he was killed. In addition to describing the details and structure of the film, Todd and SOFREP Radio host, Brandon Webb, discuss their shared passion for flying airplanes plus much more. As mentioned on the show, you can check out Save A Warrior for information on how they're helping veterans, active duty service members, and first responders that are affected by PTSD. In this episode of the Mandatory Fun podcast, the crew discusses what military movies veterans need to see in 2018. Since all veterans have their own idea of what makes a good military movie, Blake, Tim, and even the new WATM contributor, Sean chime in what they think makes a solid war film. Is having a war film base on a true story more important than having epic explosions? Or a movie where the real heroes of the day play themselves make for a better cinematic experience? 1. 12 Strong Directed by Nicolai Fuglsig, the film chronicles one of the first Special Forces teams to deploy to Afghanistan after the attacks on 9/11. The SF team joins forces with the Afghan resistance and rides into battle against the Taliban on horseback. 12 Strong brilliantly captures how difficult it is for ground troops to work and fight alongside Afghan freedom fighters against the insurgents due to the language and cultural barrier. The film stars WATM friend Rob Riggle, Chris Hemsworth, Michael Pena, and Michael Shannon. 2. The 15:17 to Paris Directed by Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood, the film focuses on the American soldiers who discover a terrorist plot on a train headed to Paris. Interesting enough, the three Americans who thwarted a terrorist attack play themselves in the film alongside actress Jenna Fischer — and we like Jenna Fischer. 3. Tough As They Come Starring and directed by Hollywood legend, Sylvester Stallone, the film tracks Travis Mills (played by Marine veteran Adam Driver), a quadriplegic soldier returning from Afghanistan after his horrific injury. Back in the U.S, Mills has to reconcile with his stepfather while coping with his new life using prosthetic legs and arms. You may recall that Mills' book was a New York Times bestseller. 4. The Last Full Measure Directed by Todd Robinson, the film showcases a Pentagon investigator who teams up with a few veterans of "Operation Abilene" to persuade Congress to award deceased Air Force medic, William Pitsenbarger the Medal of Honor 35 years later. Pitsenbarger is accredited with saving over 60 ambushed service members in one of the bloodiest campaigns of the Vietnam War. The film stars Sebastian Stan, William Hurt, and Samual L. Jackson. 5. Ruin Directed by Justin Kurzel, the film chronicles a nameless ex-Nazi captain who navigates the ruins of post-WWII Germany to atone for the crimes he committed during the war by hunting the surviving members of his former SS Death Squad. Gal Gadot is rumored to have a role, but additional information hasn't been released. 6. The 34th Battalion Directed and produced by Luke Sparke, the film follows four friends from Maitland, New South Wales who join the 34th Battalion to serve on the Western Front. The film depicts the experiences of the unit, which was recruited in 1916.

Mission encre noire Tome 16 Chapitre 208.

What can you say about Todd Robinson? If you don't know his writing, do yourself a favor and get a copy of his debut novel, THE HARD BOUNCE. Booklist says it's packed "with a host of imaginatively drawn thugs, villains, victims, and rascals" and Pop Culture Nerd called it "simple perfection." I say it's fantastic. And Todd's next novel, ROUGH TRADE, will be released by Polis Books in 2016. Todd has also written plenty of short stories. You can find them in anthologies like TROUBLE IN THE HEARTLAND, BLOOD & TACOS, and DANGER CITY. Or, better yet, in his very own collection of short stories called DIRTY WORDS. On top of all that, Todd Robinson edits one of the best magazines around: THUGLIT. I was fortunate enough to have a story published in issue #16 of THUGLIT, so if you're not familiar with THUGLIT, start with #16.

Todd Robinson is a surgeon in Memphis, TN, who was inspired to document his mother’s "miracle" with his first forays into filmmaking, the feature-length Hidden Treasure and the short Sounds of A Miracle, both based on his mother’s story. His mother, Earnestine Rodgers Robinson, received no formal music training, and with her faith and family, she rose from humble southern roots to become composer of sacred classical music that took her all the way to Carnegie Hall and to a world premiere in Prague.
