Episode Summary: Brandt and Will kick things off with more AI-generated podcast music experiments, comparing Suno and Eleven Labs for creating that perfect intro sound. The conversation shifts to Meta's latest copyright controversies involving torrented content, then lands squarely in Apple territory as Will unboxes his brand new iPhone Pro Max live on the podcast. Between discussions of Colorware customization options for black AirPods, and iOS 26 installation regrets, we explore the tension between AI creativity and copyright protection, all while celebrating (and occasionally lamenting) our gadget obsessions.Discussions Include:The challenges of getting AI music generators to understand style without naming specific artistsMeta's latest copyright troubles and what they might mean for AI training on musicWill's live unboxing of the new AirPods Pro 3 in orange, complete with first impressionsColorware customization pricing and the eternal quest for black AirPodsWhy you shouldn't install iOS 26 on production devices (Will learned this the hard way)Quotable Quotes (Should you choose to share): "I love music and all of this kind of stuff. And I get it, right? We don't want to be able to just type in, make a Fatboy Slim song... But I'm just trying to say, I like the style of Fatboy Slim. I'm not trying to pass anything off as being a Fatboy Slim song." - Brandt Krueger"It is crazy how smart the AI is getting now though, if you ask it to describe the music, it pulls out specific instruments and notes and stuff like that." - Will Curran"Do not install it on your production machines. I made a really dumb decision." - Will Curran (regarding MacOX Tahoe)"I've never liked the [AirPod] design with that stick sticking out. Like as dorky as my Bose look... I mean, on the plus side, you can see it sticking out of a tech's ear from 20 feet away." - Brandt Krueger

WHY APPLE IS NOT SUSTAINABLE

# Why Apple Is Not Sustainable: https://erickimphotography.com/blog/2024/10/02/why-apple-is-not-sustainable-2/ So thinking about the market in the future etc., especially 30 years from now ; First, issue here is the laws of physics. Even if Apple has $1 trillion, there is only so much you could do to the laws of physics to make the iPad thinner, lighter, more compact, also even the iPhone; it looks like it has already hit peak physics; can't really make it that much bigger, the iPhone Pro Max is as big as it will ever get, and the whole foldable notion is a poor idea. Also, seems that Apple is on an addition rampage, adding stuff adding features, adding buttons etc. For example, I think the new quick draw camera control in the bottom of my corner is a good idea, but the whole slightly squeeze it and to go through the Settings is an insanely terrible idea. Why? I tested it out, and it is lower, More unintuitive, and inferior to use than the traditional camera layout, which is fast, smooth and slick. To me the most bizarre thing about the new iPhone is technically the previous generation, the action button the top left, wasn't that supposed to be the quick draw camera function? So now, the baffling question; why would you have a dedicated camera button in the bottom right corner, but also, Have an action function in the top left corner to also open up the Camera app? Makes no sense! If anything, I think what Apple should've done was trying to come up with more ingenious ideas on making the camera control more intuitive. For example, I have this very very good idea for you Apple; essentially make it where when you immediately drop your camera, you could turn on an optional feature in which when you're raised to your iPhone, it automatically takes one or two photos, and then you could decide with privacy, whether to keep it or not. To me this would be an insanely great innovation because ideally, let us say that you're playing with your kid or you're out on the streets or whatever. And you see something you want to photograph, technically the ideal is just raise it and take it out of your pocket and lift up the camera, I mean the iPhone, and it automatically takes one or two pictures. However in order to prevent dick pics and the like, you can make it a private function; like if you're using your iPhone while you're taking a piss, you won't accidentally reveal your penis photo to others in your camera app library. ## Why innovation is dead at Apple I just got the new iPad Pro M4 chip, and for the most part it is a perfect device, good job Apple iPad team. But, the one really really terrible thing you guys did, are you guys brain dead? Putting the Face ID camera on the right side of the tablet? If Steve Jobs was still alive you would've immediately fired whoever made that brain dead decision. First, for us real iPad users, us true pros, first, we do not use a stupid pencil, Steve Jobs would have hated it. Second, no loser keyboard; the purpose of an iPad was to get rid of the features of the physical keyboard, not to add it. I find it a shameless thing; inventing some sort of keyboard to try to make it into a mini laptop; you just have to bifurcate it -- if you need a physical keyboard just buy a laptop, if you want an iPad iPad Pro, you should be using it without a case, just handholding it, holding it vertical. The reason why the new camera design is so poor is that when you are actually holding an iPad vertically, natural realistically you're right thumb will block the Face ID true ID. And as a consequence, it really really disrupts your workflow! *** ## The vibes? A nice quote that I got from Michael Saylor, via Nicola Tesla, -- > If you really want to understand the universe, think in terms of vibration, frequency, and energy. Impractical terms, the way that I interpret this is you could feel human emotions as vibrations, or the feeling in the air. The “boon-hwee-gge” in Korean -- the feeling of the environment in the air of a place. Maybe in the past, there was a sense of jubilant, going to an Apple Store. Now it is dread some; everyone looks super unhappy, even the apple employees used to be super happy Chip and chewy; all look dark morose, tired. No more passion. ## Where is the new passion? Anyone who is a bitcoin, Michael Saylor fan, and now micro strategy, this is the real economic opportunism, the real economic optimism! For me, I have embedded in my mind, this 55% API notion in my brain; if I do the maths, assuming that my $1.1 million worth of bitcoin hasn't a PI of 55%, you're over a year, that means within 15 years I should be a billionaire! Worth 1.2 billion. And to me this is insanely optimistic because then, if you can know the future with some level of precision, then you could actually start to plan your life! What that means is learning how to live today, expecting a very glorious future! ***

Learn if livestreaming is for you, as well as what is needed to get started today! ___ Announcements Randy is a YouTube streamer/gamer - Minus the Red Bull. ___ ### Why would you want to Livestream? - I feel like it makes the creator or business more vulnerable or approachable to their audience. - When you see some big names do a Livestream, or even a planned Zoom session, it makes them feel more down-to-earth. - In these types of sessions you can learn from each other. It's almost like a team-learning environment such as cheerleaders, a sports team, or even a band; You may have one person (the presenter, i.e. the coach) that gives the information, and the attendees or team can process that information, correct themselves personally and amongst one another to gain that knowledge. - They're not limited in capacity like an in-person event would be. - Feedback can be logged and that can only help you improve your business. - You can Livestream just about anything. Video gamers have been doing this for quite some time. - I actually just got into game streaming and it really is a lot of fun, no matter what age you are. There are games for every age. If your Video game system has an HDMI port (all modern ones do), there is an easy way to stream it. ### What do you need to get started? - A computer or smartphone. - It's hard to find a computer without a webcam and mic built in. The same goes for smartphones. - A computer's built-in webcam usually has garbage quality, but is still good enough to start doing a livestream. A smartphone's camera (as long as the lighting is good in your surroundings) is usually many times better than the camera on most laptops and even desktop (external) webcams. - If you see that livestreaming is going somewhere, you can then invest in studio-grade equipment. Try to buy things that you can use in and outside of your streaming setup. - A high-quality microphone. If you listen to the older episodes of my podcast, you'll almost think that I'm against USB microphones. When compared to XLR microphones, they're still mostly inferior - sort of like how your iPhone Pro Max cannot compete with something such as a Black Magic cinema 6k camera. Not even close. - However, USB microphones are only going to get better, due to their convenience of being so easy to just plug and play, and will avoid you needing a separate mixer or audio interface outside of your computer. - Bandwidth - If you're planning on using just your smartphone to livestream, if you have a generous data plan and good cellular coverage (4G or 5G), you're probably already set to stream. - If your home internet connection is garbage, you should consider upgrading with your ISP. - Don't use WIFI. Use Ethernet. Closing Remarks I'd like to thank you for putting time aside to listen to the podcast. iPhone 13 : Enfin un véritable renouveau ?

See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/elgordocircuito/message

You're probably listening to this on a smartphone. That smartphone probably cost hundreds of dollars, if not well over a thousand. (Looking at you, iPhone Pro Max owners.) For billions of people around the world, those devices are simply not affordable. Feature phones are alive and well, and KaiOS CEO Sebastien Codeville knows the landscape as well as anyone. KaiOS was created in 2015 out of Mozilla's failed Firefox OS project, and has become a hugely popular operating system on super-cheap phones. KaiOS devices cost as little as $17; they typically have smaller screens and lots of physical buttons; they prize durability and days-long battery life over fancy features. And yet the people who use them, use them in entirely familiar ways. They text, they watch videos, they pay for stuff. For people all over the world, KaiOS-powered “smart feature phones” are a first introduction to the internet, and in many cases their users' primary screen experience. Codeville joined the Source Code podcast to discuss KaiOS, the challenges of building an app store and hardware for cheap devices, and why smartphones won't kill feature phones anytime soon. Or maybe ever. For more on the topics in this episode:Sebastien Codeville on TwitterKaiOS2020's most popular KaiOS apps How Reliance Jio became the world's fastest-growing mobile networkHow KaiOS claimed the third-place mobile crownFor all the links and stories, head to Source Code's homepage.

Why battery life is the real reason to upgrade to the iPhone 11 Pro

This week, Adrian reviews the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Although smitten by the new cameras on the updated handsets, he thinks that the unsung feature that will sell the iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max models is the impressive new battery life, up to five hours per day longer than last year's iPhone X models.  He's joined by John Kennedy, former founding editor of SiliconRepublic.com and now editor of ThinkBusiness.ie, a business information platform run by Bank of Ireland.  “After a week using the new iPhone 11 Pro Max, I would upgrade to it for two reasons,” says Adrian. “The cameras and the battery life. When it comes to cameras, I'm slightly biased. For me, the camera system on a phone is about half the reason I choose it. Apple claims that battery life on this model is up to five hours longer than last year's X Max and it feels like it.” “I know that battery life has always been a pain point for iPhone users compared to some flagship models from rivals. So this is actually a very big deal, especially for power-users or business people relying on it as a workload tool. If anything, Apple is underplaying it.” For more from the Big Tech show you can visit the show page at: www.independent.ie/podcasts/the-big-tech-show/ The Big Tech show is in association with Magnet Networks.
