T.S.O.L. has been a staple of the American punk rock scene for nearly 5 decades. Through different iterations of the band, they remain active and energetic. Today, we are joined by Jack Grisham, T.S.O.L.'s frontman. We had a great conversation with Jack about staying creative, surviving years of drug and alcohol abuse, recording a cover album, and more. Jack is still driven, and can deliver some hilarious stories about his time in the music industry. Make sure to check out their latest album, "A-side Graffiti, today! We also talk about Mike's much needed haircut, hear some bear news, and realize Scott is not that nice to kids who aren't his.
Jack Grisham joins the show this week to discuss the new T.S.O.L. album A-Side Graffiti, creating things for nobody but yourself and the dangers of pandering, how Grant Hart changed how Jack writes, sequencing an album that was never meant to be an album and much more JACK GRISHAM/T.S.O.L.https://www.jackgrisham.comhttps://www.instagram.com/tsol_officialhttps://www.instagram.com/jackgrishamphotohttps://www.facebook.com/TsolOfficialPCHInstagram - www.instagram.com/powerchordhourTwitter - www.twitter.com/powerchordhourFacebook - www.facebook.com/powerchordhourYoutube - www.youtube.com/channel/UC6jTfzjB3-mzmWM-51c8LggSpotify Episode Playlists - https://open.spotify.com/user/kzavhk5ghelpnthfby9o41gnr?si=4WvOdgAmSsKoswf_HTh_MgDonate to help show costs -https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/pchanthonyhttps://cash.app/$anthmerchpowerchordhour@gmail.comCheck out the Power Chord Hour radio show every Friday night at 8 to 11 est/Tuesday Midnight to 3 est on 107.9 WRFA in Jamestown, NY. Jack Grisham from TSOL smokes a cigar inside because Sam told him it was ok.
Our guest this week is an incredibly talented artist, writer, singer, and musician. He ran for Governor in 2003??!! He writes, books/novels, and he practices hypnotherapy! He has been sober since 1989 and has helped countless others battling addiction through his own experiences and his writings on recovery. But before all the goodie two shoes stuff, he grew up in Long Beach as a rebellious skater, surfer, and bad ass punk rocker heavily into music and drugs at an early age. In high school he and his good friend Todd Barnes stole a girl friends guitar/amplifier and the rest is history. Punk Music was forever changed and so were SURF movie soundtracks. We welcome one of the most OG influential PUNK ROCKERS of ALL TIME 'TRUE SOUNDS OF LIBERTY" TSOL Jack Grisham!!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Today we speak to...Jack Grisham Jack Grisham (born July 22, 1961). He is the vocalist for the punk rock band T.S.O.L. (True Sounds of Liberty), which emerged from the late 1970s Los Angeles hardcore punk rock scene, Which is described as being Punk hardcore. punk anarcho-punk deathrock and horror punk. We're not talking about Abba!An agnostic libertarian, Grisham challenges some of the "cult" like practices in today's groups and encourages you to think for yourself, live without fear, and tap the resource of power that resides within us all. Jack an author, a front-man, an actor, and a "two-bit" carny hypnotist. As a vocalist for T.S.O.L., and the Joykiller, he's released close to twenty full-length records and toured all over the world. Jack has been blamed for enlightening, and corrupting the moldable minds of our youth for years—he has also been credited for influencing many of the top bands of today. As an author he's released three books, all to mostly favorable reviews—no one says Jack is a horrible writer, it's just that he brings the horrible to life with such skill that at times you practically need to be sedated to read his prose. 'An American Demon', 'Untamed' and 'Code Blue a Love Story' have all burned their ways into the scary netherworld of the human psyche. As an actor, Jack plays himself, a lovable con-man that you can't help to root for—'Suburbia', 'Let It Rock', 'Punks Not Dead', 'American Hardcore', 'Rage', 'Urban Struggle' and 'The Other F-Word' have all been graced with his almost-as-large-as-life screen presence. Grisham has been clean and semi-serene since 1989. He gives motivational talks all over the USAYou can be sure that whatever Jack is involved in it is sure to challenge the senses and inflame the boundaries of what is decent and tame. Series 4! Our big kick off! Ruined by inconsiderate royals. Not to be deterred, we wiped the tears away and knuckled down. it's what he would've wanted. Hayley & The Crushers are in and we have a real heart to heart about TSOL, families in lockdown, being in a band with your spouse, the museum of broken dreams, why Dr Cain hates ALL and the band challenge you to an orange chucking competition. Also, new features including Tom'z Random Rekkid and Punk Rock 101. Additional tracks from Kunt and The Gang, The Damned, TSOL, Leatherface and The Antibodies.
The “Marlon Brando of Punk” was the title Josie Cotton gave to JackGrisham of T.S.O.L. the West Coast punk band that emerged in theearly 80s. T.S.O.L. are a staple in the punk genre, and they dabbledin a bit of “horror film” records that were absolutely fantastic. Covering themes of Anarchism, bullying, and some topics you just need tolisten to the music for. T.S.O.L. have a large catalog that hasevolved over the years but remained true to the genre. Talking about his new book on the way “The Pulse of The World”, Jack isan author, inpromptu social commentator, and always has somethingfunny, intelligent, and often rude to say. No filter, you always knowwhat he is thinking. www.jackgrisham.com https://www.facebook.com/jackgrisham https://www.instagram.com/jackgrishamphoto/?hl=en https://twitter.com/jackloydgrisham?lang=en TSOL Youtube #jackgrisham #americandemon #TSOL #Punkpodcast #codeblue
Punk rock has produced some of music's greatest characters, but tops of all is probably TSOL frontman Jack Grisham. Jack was there for the band's first two albums Dance With Me and the game changing Beneath The Shadows before deciding to explore other genres and finding some success with The Joykiller in the 90s. He eventually returned to the fold and has been at the helm ever since. Jack talks openly about homelessness, sobriety, his marriages, the punk ethos, the books and movies he's created, and much much more. There really is no one like Jack, bless him! www.jackgrisham.com www.patreon.com/thehustlepod

Jack Grisham and Eric Miller are two people who know this well. They are retiring from the St. Louis Zoo after a combined 66 years of work experience there.
Jack Grisham is the vocalist of the legendary SoCal punk band T.S.O.L (True Sounds Of Liberty) which emerged onto the scene in the late 1970's. Jack was one of five kids in a military family and has always pushed back against the status quo. He eventually found the punk community and felt right at home. Megan and Jack talk the formation of T.S.O.L, why he left the band and inevitably came back, recovery, the current state of punk music and so much more. Catch T.S.O.L at Musink Festival in OC on March 10th.

Better late than never! One of my musical heroes, Jack Grisham is on the show today. He’s the vocalist for legendary punk provocateurs, TSOL, as well as one of Epiptah’s most underrated bands, The Joykiller. We hung out in his haunted house (for real!) and we discussed his life in and out of punk, how he remains engaged and never growing tired of finding new avenues of self-expression. We go deep into all areas of his life so strap in and enjoy! Use our Amazon Affiliate Code to support the show! Learn more about your ad-choices at https://news.iheart.com/podcast-advertisers
Episode 64 - Today we have a real Punk Rock LEGEND on the show. Mr. Jack Grisham of T.S.O.L. joins Shane to talk about the band being back together and on the Warped Tour after their debut record came out 36 years ago. Jack, notorious for his on stage antics, says he "never thought he'd live this long", and talks about the early days of the LA Punk scene, his practice as a hypnotherapist in California, and the song "Code Blue" which features the classic horror punk lyrics, "I want to fuck the dead". An awesome listen. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
This week we have an episode that I’m shocked was possible. I’m talking to Kevan Aguilar, who was more than happy to subvert expectations by sharing his summer-long love affair with the incredibly awful Kottonmouth Kings. We’re dissecting Peace Not Greed from the year 2G featuring Jack Grisham of TSOL and a total lack of perspective on police brutality. Kevan talks about identifying with the anti-authoritarian message of the song, his mom being cool with him hanging a poster of the band holding a giant platter of weed, and how this may relate to him becoming straightedge shortly thereafter. Also: a quaintly optimistic take on the effects of weed legalization, a weird intersection of fake libertarianism and new age spirituality, and lots of juicy youtube beef. Lead singer of punk rock bands TSOL and The Joykiller, Jack Grisham holds forth on a number of topics, including the early days of the SoCal punk rock scene, motivational speaking, revisionist punk rock history, and his passion for writing, on this weeks episode of "Walking The Floor with Chris Shiflett."
Musician, writer and political activist Jack Grisham is a man of many names and even more lives. Perhaps you know him as Alex Morgan or James DeLauge? Maybe you're familiar with him because he's the lead singer for the punk band T.S.O.L. or perhaps it's through his book A Principle of Recovery: An Unconventional Journey Through the Twelve Steps? Or could it be that you know his name from when he ran for governor in 2003? Okay so we've established it: he's an interesting guy. He's also over 27 years sober after a, well, disturbing youth well documented in his book American Demon. In this episode, we discuss why his favorite review called his book "mean-spirited," how only unpeaceful people talk about peace and whether or not he was hypnotizing me during the interview, among other topics.
Men and addiction: We look at how addiction is often cloaked in secrecy, because we as men are taught to avoid admitting and showing weakness or failure. This episode suggests it is ok to struggle, ok to ask for help, and none of us are alone in our struggles.
Lead Singer of TSOL Jack Grisham is in studio discussing his sobriety and regaining trust. Also, in honor of Father's Day, Cris Fiore and Tom Parks call in to tell their story about raising awareness and ending the stigma.
