T.S.O.L. has been a staple of the American punk rock scene for nearly 5 decades.  Through different iterations of the band, they remain active and energetic.  Today, we are joined by Jack Grisham, T.S.O.L.'s frontman.  We had a great conversation with Jack about staying creative, surviving years of drug and alcohol abuse, recording a cover album, and more.  Jack is still driven, and can deliver some hilarious stories about his time in the music industry. Today we speak to...Jack Grisham Jack Grisham (born July 22, 1961). He is the vocalist for the punk rock band T.S.O.L. (True Sounds of Liberty), which emerged from the late 1970s Los Angeles hardcore punk rock scene, Which is described as being Punk hardcore. punk anarcho-punk deathrock and horror punk.We're not talking about Abba!An agnostic libertarian, Grisham challenges some of the "cult" like practices in today's groups and encourages you to think for yourself, live without fear, and tap the resource of power that resides within us all. Jack an author, a front-man, an actor, and a "two-bit" carny hypnotist. As a vocalist for T.S.O.L., and the Joykiller, he's released close to twenty full-length records and toured all over the world. Jack has been blamed for enlightening, and corrupting the moldable minds of our youth for years—he has also been credited for influencing many of the top bands of today. As an author he's released three books, all to mostly favorable reviews—no one says Jack is a horrible writer, it's just that he brings the horrible to life with such skill that at times you practically need to be sedated to read his prose. 'An American Demon', 'Untamed' and 'Code Blue a Love Story' have all burned their ways into the scary netherworld of the human psyche. It takes a village to raise a child, and it might take even more than that to care for the nearly 15,000 animals that call the St. Louis Zoo home. Jack Grisham and Eric Miller are two people who know this well. They are retiring from the St. Louis Zoo after a combined 66 years of work experience there.

Jack Grisham is the vocalist of the legendary SoCal punk band T.S.O.L (True Sounds Of Liberty) which emerged onto the scene in the late 1970's. Jack was one of five kids in a military family and has always pushed back against the status quo. He eventually found the punk community and felt right at home. Megan and Jack talk the formation of T.S.O.L, why he left the band and inevitably came back, recovery, the current state of punk music and so much more. Musician, writer and political activist Jack Grisham is a man of many names and even more lives. Perhaps you know him as Alex Morgan or James DeLauge? Maybe you're familiar with him because he's the lead singer for the punk band T.S.O.L. or perhaps it's through his book A Principle of Recovery: An Unconventional Journey Through the Twelve Steps? Or could it be that you know his name from when he ran for governor in 2003? Okay so we've established it: he's an interesting guy. He's also over 27 years sober after a, well, disturbing youth well documented in his book American Demon. In this episode, we discuss why his favorite review called his book "mean-spirited," how only unpeaceful people talk about peace and whether or not he was hypnotizing me during the interview, among other topics.

Men and addiction: We look at how addiction is often cloaked in secrecy, because we as men are taught to avoid admitting and showing weakness or failure. This episode suggests it is ok to struggle, ok to ask for help, and none of us are alone in our struggles.
