Latoya Cantrell was in rare form at the circus yesterday - nobody ever accused her of not knowing how to have a good time
Unlikely pair Latoya Cantrell and Jeff Landry held a press conference together yesterday talking about the "Summer of the Super Bowl" where they laid out plans to make improvements to New Orleans ahead of hosting the Super Bowl in February 2025. We also talk about 10 cent beer night in Clevland on this day 50 years ago. We also talk a little bit about the Angel Reese drama.
A Mayor is sticking taxpayers with flight upgrades and other luxury perks - and it's not LaToya Cantrell! Does power corrupt good people?
In this special "Lead with Impact" segment, Mayor Barnett invites New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell to share her story. She was the first woman to be elected as Mayor of New Orleans in the city's 300 year history. Now in her second term of office, she has more than proven her commitment to the place her heart calls home. She firmly believes the best is yet to come for her city and residents. Mayor Cantrell discusses effective local leadership, the best places to eat in NOLA, and an insider's look at the biggest free party on earth, Mardi Gras. Ep #625 Of The Clay Edwards Show On 103.9 WYAB (10/30/23) 1. Bud Light and The UFC have teamed up in a 6-7 year $100 million dollar deal for Bud Light to the official beer sponsor of the UFC. Some folks on out side think it's UFC bending the knee to lefties and I couldn't disagree more! 2. We discuss the outbreaks of fights at Madison Central High School (and some others) here lately, what's the cause and is it as bad it sounds? 3. I'm publicly challenging Brandon Presley and Tate Reeves to come on the Clay Edwards Show for interviews this week as we near the election for Governor on Nov. 7th 4. We take a look at the story of a 24 year old, smoking hot school teacher being arrested for making a 16 year old male student's dreams come true. Why is there a double standard on this topic? I know if the roles were reversed we'd all be mad as hell but when it's a boy student we all tend to laugh at it. 5. Apparently the city of Jackson can't pay it's bills, we speculate on the reasons why. 6. Black southern mayors like Latoya Cantrell in New Orleans and Chokwe Antar Lumumba in Jackson use a lot of police for their personal security at the expense of the citizens in these areas own safety and at a high cost to the city. Meanwhile they want to replace real cops with social workers for our protection and not their own. Check out my website at Www.ClayEdwardsShow.Com for all things Clay

Scoot talks a call from "Doe" in New Orleans, who suggests that the problems New Orleans faces are not the fault of LaToya Cantrell - or anyone else in power right now
Scoot talks to WWL listeners about the twin dramas of LaToya Cantrell's impending recall deadline and ex-President Trump's impending criminal indictment in New York
Noonie Man gives us an update on the recall but also has some very good information on politics in New Orleans.
Organizers fighting to recall New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell claim they have enough signatures to move forward. But where the recall effort goes from here has yet to be determined. The Times-Picayune | The Advocate's editorial director and columnist Stephanie Grace gives us an update, and tells us what could happen next. February is not only Black History Month, but also brings the one hundred and third anniversary of the founding of baseball's Negro Leagues. Before baseball was integrated, the Negro League was where baseball players of color participated in America's pastime. But while some of the most well remembered Negro League teams were in Kansas City, Indianapolis, and Newark, New Orleans has a rich history of Negro League teams that has often been overlooked. Last year, President of the Negro League Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Bob Kendrick, joined us for more on Louisiana Black baseball history. Today, we hear an encore of this conversation. When you hear the word Amish, you're probably picturing a lot of things but not the Louisiana Bayou. But right now Amish volunteers are in Louisiana, rebuilding homes destroyed by hurricanes long after most other aid has left. As the Gulf States Newsroom's Stephan Bisaha reports, the trips have led to cross country connections over hardship, food and faith. We delve into the recent incident where gunfire broke out during a parade, leaving a teenager dead and four others injured, including a 4-year-old girl. We also explore the political turmoil surrounding New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and the recall petition launched against her. Finally, we take a look at some of the delicious New Orleans food traditions associated with Mardi Gras, including the king cake and the muffuletta.
Dr.Ken Harris continues to talk about Southwest airlines, George Santos, and also brings up some additional politics when he talks about LaToya Cantrell, the mayor in Louisiana currently facing a recall. Dr.Ken asks if we need to re-call here? If you aren

The 2022 NCAA Final Four is scheduled to take place in New Orleans. The city desperately needs the Final Four. The economy in New Orleans has been demolished by the policies of mayor LaToya Cantrell. However...New Orleans is in danger of losing the Final Four because of a transgender bill. The bill wouldn't allow young boys to compete against young girls in the state of Louisiana. The NCAA has stated that if this bill passes...they would remove the Final Four from New Orleans. We react to what happened in Louisiana today...and explain why this is a ridiculous stance by the NCAA.

STOP the desecration of this historically significant and sacred ground! The City of New Orleans proposes to convert the Municipal Auditorium to a City Hall office building. This action would have a significant adverse impact to the historical nature and purpose of the original Municipal Auditorium. WE DEMAND A PUBLIC HEARING!! The ground on which the Municipal Auditorium sits, is a part of Congo Square. It is one of the most significant pieces of real estate in the cultural legacy of New Orleans and, by extension, the world. This land and its structures should be expressly dedicated to honoring the contributions and sacrifices of our ancestors and to sustaining and developing that legacy for current and future generations. We propose the rehabilitation of this invaluable community asset be undertaken with a focus on remembering and honoring its historic role as: 1) a site of cultural celebrations and gatherings for the indigenous populations who were its stewards before the arrival of Europeans and Africans; 2) a site of repression, state-sanctioned executions, but also a space of respite from enslavement on Sundays when the area was known as Place Congo or Congo Square and evolved into the acknowledged birthplace of jazz, other forms of popular music, and distinctively new forms of American social dance; 3) a marker for the displacement and destruction of the predominately Black communities that were forcibly removed from the area to make way for the construction of the Municipal Auditorium in the 1920s and later, from the 1950s-1970s, the entire 32-acre site that is known today as Louis Armstrong Park. We the undersigned do hereby demand that all elected officials in New Orleans and those under their authority immediately cease and desist any and all plans to convert the New Orleans Municipal Auditorium and surrounding land for office spaces, and governmental uses by the City of New Orleans.

Yeah, you read that right. Two mayors going at it over Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks. New Orleans Mayor, LaToya Cantrell fired off a tweet "recruiting" Wilson to her beloved New Orleans Saints. Is that even a legitimate thing to do? In any event, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan fired off a fabulous response that, well, would quite possibly be a move worth attempting. Hear what she said on my rant today.

In the second half of the show, the three of us are joined by Derrick Freeman, a modern day renaissance man here in New Orleans. Among other skills, Derrick is an extremely talented musician. We're such big fans that we made one of his songs the theme music to this show! Derrick brings important perspective from someone who is not just a musician but also a long time citizen of New Orleans. Anywho, I know they say not to talk about politics in a bar, but we're going to break that dumb rule. As always, thanks for tuning in. Cheers! Steve
Forbes Magazine has compiled the biggest earners in entertainment in 2017 and Beyoncé tops the list for ladies in music. The business publication estimates Bey raked in a cool $105 million dollars gross this calendar year. Congrats to Bey but I'm sure non of us expected anything else. More female dominance. New Orleans has made history as the 300th anniversary of the city’s founding approaches. LaToya Cantrell has been elected as the city’s mayor and is the city’s first female mayor. Turning the tide and the emotions as we lost some major iconic figures. Della Reese dead at 86, Earle Hyman, actor who played Bill Cosby's dad, dead at 91, David Cassidy dead at 67, and Charles Manson, leader of murderous '60s cult, dead at 83. Your boy, Philly rapper, Cassidy was just chillin' in a parked van outside his house when cops busted him. The Philly MC was busted Sunday afternoon in Jersey City when police say they spotted him in the vehicle, and noticed a strong marijuana odor. You may think you’re all mature adults and that you and your friend can handle sleeping together. No matter how “chill” you are, you can’t escape the problems that come with sleeping with a friend. Nobody can. The crew had a VERY in-depth conversation about this one that you MUST check out, lol!! Happy Thanksgiving and make sure to come back next Wednesday, 9-10 pm!
