LC joins us from “Loud Lisbon,” so please excuse the background noise, but it's worth it for this alpha. Laura leads the residential arm of Lakewood Ranch, the nation's top-selling multigenerational community in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. She oversees a 16,000-lot residential portfolio under active development by 20 builders with 2,000+ annual home sales. Laura also directs marketing efforts for LWR Commercial and the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club. Before Lakewood Ranch, she was vice president of marketing for Willowsford, a 4,000-acre “agri-hood” community in Northern Virginia. From 2002 to 2007 Laura served as vice president of corporate development for RCLCO in Washington, DC, and before that, held positions with the Urban Land Institute, Greater Houston Partnership, and IBM/CB Commercial. In today's episode, Laura Cole, Senior Vice President Lakewood Ranch Communities, LLC, shares her journey into real estate and the top 3 trends she's seeing as a result of the pandemic.Memorable moments:11:07: I love the idea of “I haven't been here before”. But let's draw from what we know, or try to find some analogues that that even come close to this.12:32 I like thinking long term and you have too in these communities because we won't have homes on the ground for potentially five years. So you better be betting on the right market segment for when that's going to arrive in five years. We are being really tactical and I like the challenge of that.13:46: The biggest thing right now that we're confronting is the growing caution by the consumer tied specifically to pricing.15:09: People are looking not only to come to Florida because of the tax advantages and the quality of life, but there's a perception that living in a masterplan community creates an additional layer of security.15:36 The nuclear family is moving with their extended family. We're seeing these multi-generational moves. One family moving here becomes three or four. They've determined that this is the place where they want to put roots down and it's really rewarding to know that this is a place they want to call home.28:19 The development industry is particularly well suited for women because everything we do is multidisciplinary. We're good at multitasking and being able to bring in a lot of different facets into account in our decision making.29:36: I always feel like in our industry that being yourself pays huge dividends…Be yourself and add value.Connect with Nancy:Instagram: https://instagram.com/nancysurakLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nancysurak/Website: www.nancysurak.comConnect with Laura:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/laura-cole-8158526/Website: https://lakewoodranch.comLaura's Book Recommendation:A Land Remembered https://amzn.to/3OAbMyu via @amazonShe's WILD Sound Production by:Luke Surak, Surak Productions: surakproductions@gmail.com

On the podcast, I met up with Laura and Jay - two of the Co-Founders of Prairie Dog Brewing in Calgary, Alberta. There are some breweries that make amazing beer and have a neat little restaurant attached - and there are amazing restaurants with a cute little brewery attached. Prairie Dog chose to do the best of both - they built an amazing brewery and an amazing BBQ restaurant in the same building! If you love BBQ and beer - this is your destination.Laura was my guest for one of the last podcasts I did before this whole Covid thing - hard to believe that was 2 years ago! It was nice to sit down for a beer to see how they are doing and what they did to survive the pandemic. The good news is that the crew is still together - and they're just as passionate about BBQ and beer as they were when they opened!Laura and Jay are great examples of what makes our community awesome - I hope you enjoy the conversation…Alberta Beer Festivals: website | instagramPrairie Dog Brewing: website | instagram

This episode of the You and Me Podcast spotlights REAL BRIDE Laura Cole, who married her beau Aidan in a gorgeous intimate setting, surrounded by 30 of their closest people in regional Victoria.Laura and Aidan were booked in for a large scale marquee wedding with close to 200 guests when COVID hit and changed their plans dramatically.Understanding the risk of such a large gathering having the potential to not go ahead with how turbulent the year 2020 was, Laura and Aidan made the incredibly tough decision, like many in their position during the past year, to postpone their large scale event, and opt for a smaller celebration with their closest friends and family. To be able to achieve this new option, they had to source a new venue + even some new suppliers than those they had originally booked, and change their entire outlook on what they thought their day would be initially to what is what actually now going to look like.Scaling back the guest numbers allowed Laura and Aidan to invest in premium details throughout their celebration, with a focus on being able to indulge with their guests and really create an atmosphere that not only celebrated them as a couple getting married, but also their love for those in the room with them!To see more of our couples, their wedding days, the incredible vendors we interview and a meme or two to pass the time, please visit @theyouandmepodcastFor a real life glimpse into the wedding world, follow wedding planner and stylist Laura over at @wanderlust_creativeFor the best of bridal inspiration and a directory full of hand picked vendors to guide your way, follow Andie at @thebridaljourney See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Welcome to another episode of Action & Ambition with your host, Andrew Medal. Today’s guests are Laura Cole and Todd Renard. Laura Cole is passionate about helping businesses connect with their customers. As Vice President of Marketing for Vivial, she uses her entrepreneurial spirit to lead Vivial’s marketing functions, including internal communications, research, branding, public relations, advertising, sales support, go-to-market product strategy, and corporate brand vision. Todd Renard is the Digital marketing executive for Vivial with an established performance track record for innovation and execution, balancing strategy, tactics, and logistics. Developing innovative digital products that help organizations grow their business is his passion. Todd had spent the last 20 years identifying, evaluating, and bringing to market product and partnership opportunities for leading advertising technology companies. You’re going to love this episode. Let’s get to it! What has kept Laura and Todd at Vivial so long? (2:13) A lot of their clients also ask this question. It is not abnormal when they are sitting in a boardroom talking to a potential client for them to receive this question. They then go around the table, and all employees would mention their tenure with the company. Most employees have very similar tenures with Vivial. Vivial has won Best Places to Work several years in a row for many of their locations, offices, and honestly, the whole company. Vivial’s employees are a happy bunch, and they love what they are doing. It’s turned into a culture that breeds innovations and autonomy. They are fortunate across the board to have employees that have been there a long time and are dedicated to the mission. For Todd, another thing has been that the people he works with, although the company refers to themselves as an agency, they are also a development and solution shop. They build many of their products, and they can only use other products and services only to use different products and services reinvent what they are doing. How have they been able to leverage COVID-19 to be advantageous for the company? (11:11) They do not think that they have leveraged COVID much. Unlike many businesses, they were not impacted in the same way by the pandemic. From a product road mapping standpoint, they have been thinking about the product set well before the pandemic hit businesses hard. They are always thinking about the value that can be provided over just building out features. When the pandemic hit, it became much more critical that they did not focus on the less meaningful things and instead focused on the things that could make a difference. In the DNA of Vivial employees, they have a focused need to help small to medium local businesses. So when the pandemic hit, the company was thinking about what they could do to help everyone struggling. They did things like predominant advertising programs, for example; They approached many businesses that they knew were hit hard and said that instead of canceling their program, they offered to reduce their plan until they found themselves back in a position to continue their original program. So they retracted without canceling or pausing client programs during the time, so they were continually invested in their success. Vivial has reacted well to the environment, and their clients have appreciated that. What is the biggest obstacle when it comes to customer retention? (22:02) You have to find ways to figure out how involved a customer wants to be. When you get that wrong, and you believe a customer wants to be engaged, but it’s apathy, and they aren’t engaging, it’s because they don’t think there is value. For some programs that Vivial runs, the client needs to be engaged, and if you don’t have that voice of the business owner, you can miss something. Misjudging how engaged a client is and wants to be is an essential factor in customer retention. Vivial Vivial has been providing marketing products and services to small and medium-sized businesses across the U.S. for over 100 years. Vivial's mission is to help you grow your business, whether with our easy-to-use and affordable local online marketing technology or a custom marketing campaign that we create, implement, and monitor for you. Whether checking in on friends, reading the news or simply scrolling through social media, it's easy to get sucked into your phone these days. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, many people are still under shelter-in-place orders or simply staying home as often as possible to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. So, it's the perfect time for businesses to meet consumers where they're at – on their phones. “It has been quite tremendous the shift that we've seen. There's no question that digital marketing was prevalent prior to this, that's kind of a no-brainer, but the stats … across the board we are seeing, for clients' programs we manage, engagement rates are through the roof,” said Laura Cole, Vice President of Marketing at Vivial. Cole said businesses need to be getting their messages out online, whether it be through Google or other search engines, on social media like Facebook and Instagram, or on mobile with properly formatted content or even messaging campaigns. “Really, the first thing we recommend for a business is to think through those three aspects – online, social and mobile,” she said. “Think about the consumers that shop with you, how they shop and how you want your business to be represented in a way that covers all of the main facets.” Each business is different, so how much they should be spending and what platforms they should be utilizing vary across industries. Luckily, there are experts in place like those at Vivial to help figure out how to reach consumers where they're at and make sure businesses have the right digital marketing strategy.

In this one, Cody has a conversation with chef Laura Cole. Laura grew up with a strong sense of duty to community, and a refined palate. Both were instilled in her by her parents, and continue to influence her taste and her actions to this day. In 2019, Laura was a contestant on Top Chef, an experience that she says gave her some of her closest friends. Today, she splits her seasons between her restaurant near Denali National Park, called 229 Parks Restaurant and Tavern, and Muse, the restaurant at the Anchorage Museum. She says that in all her professional endeavors, she has a mantra, which is “To nourish and nurture all those who come to our table.” When Laura talks about food, she talks about it in relation to memories. How a certain food or meal can leave an indelible impression; how a good meal, with good company, and good conversation can be remembered forever. Laura calls these “food memories,” and she’s constantly trying to create them.

Why do problems continue to be an ongoing part of many people’s daily realities? It might be because we are fixated and consumed by what is NOT working. It might be because of the consistent choice of counter-intuitive verbiage we tend to default to based on old habits and patterns which no longer serves or benefits us. Laura Cole about her first three weeks with SF. In today’s episode, we talk with Laura Cole, an organisational coach and mediator, that just got in touch with Solution Focus (SF), about what fascinates her with SF, what differences SF has made for her, her clients, her friends and her family in the last three weeks, and how she applied Solution Focus right away in a meeting with 35 people. Learn from Laura what she already did in the past that made it easy for her to embrace Solution Focus as well as what she did that she would now consider SF and is excited to continue. She is now heading towards the preferred future in her dialogues: Hear how she shifted the focus of a conversation with a friend and how she now notices in her conversations that she wants to have a different kind of conversation. She also applies SF with her 7-year old daughter, e.g. to support her to perceive her teacher in a different way. And she realized that she wants to support Christian coaching to move from Saturday conversations more and more to the hope and the promise of Sunday conversations. Check out the challenge of the week Laura gives you: Change the answer to „How are you?“ to something different or even better, come up with a different greeting to have more intentional meaningful relationships. And don’t miss the surprise after the end. The post SFP 21 – Living in Sunday Right Away: Interview with Laura Cole about her first three weeks with SF appeared first on SF on tour.

Cynthia Kahn interviews soulful and bluesy singer-songwriter Laura Cole.
Born into a musical family, singing came as naturally to Laura as walking and talking. As a child she entertained family and friends with renditions of old favourites around the campfires of late Canadian nights.Laura played in her first concert at age 3 where she plunked out a one handed piano solo. She sang non-stop throughout her childhood but learned to use her voice in local children's choirs. Her solo singing career started at her school talent shows. Her pursuit of a career as a professional started in her teens when she was occasionally invited to sing a few songs with her Dad's band. Her success and love of performing live brought her own gigs in pubs around the Golden Horseshoe in southern Ontario where she performed cover tunes of favourites like Sam Cooke, Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Tom Waits and the occasional original. She also appeared in spotlight cameo performances at the Hamilton Music Awards, Festival of Friends in Hamilton and the Fieldcote Sunday Night Music series in her hometown of Ancaster. In 2013, Laura won the Galaxie Radio Rising Star Award. Her musical journey has led her to Los Angeles, Toronto, Shreveport, Nashville and Morocco where she began in earnest writing her own songs-a blend of old jazz and blues with a new age twist. On Valentine's Day 2014, Daniel Lanois released a single featuring Laura entitled “Papineau”- a father daughter conversation. Her first all original record is due for release and will be available for purchase at the 2014 Greenbelt Harvest Picnic!
