Liam McEneaney first appeared on KATG on episode #136. After numerous appearances and a falling out, Liam returns to KATG on episode #3,895 to make amends.
In early 2025, we lost the legendary David Lynch and many actors and film fans publicly heaped praise on him... but does that mean he was actually any good? Was he weird for the sake of being weird and you were called stupid if you didn't get what he was doing? On this episode I am joined by Cayley (co-host of Who Are These Podcasts & host of Once Over With Cayley, Christian Bladt (host of Who Are These Broadcaster, Marvel Movie Talk and The Bladtcast) & Liam McEneaney (stand up comedian and co-host of Misery Loves Company) for a roundtable to debate the great questions... Joel Madison is a veteran TV writer and WGA member whose resume is a mile long; having written for Roseanne, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Jackie Thomas Show, Undeclared, as well as having created Malcom & Eddie. In addition to all of this, he also was a working road comedian hailing from the great city of Minneapolis (home of jucy lucys and the almighty Dillinger Four). Upon moving to LA, he was a door guy at the La Jolla Comedy Store and eventually he became a paid regular at The World-Famous Hollywood Improv, passed by the late Budd Friedman himself. Hailing from Queens, NY, Liam McEneaney is a comedian, producer and filmmaker nearly 30 years on the road. Having been on the road for many years, he has achieved notoriety on SiriusXM, WTF with Marc Maron, Showtime, HBO, as well as the hit show Premium Blend on Comedy Central. Great set, Liam! This was the first episode with multiple guests since going multi-cam. Minus a few unrelated technical difficulties, it came out well and honestly, was one of the most fun episodes of The Ian Ira Rousso Show to date! After Liam airs his grevences with me and Gary Cannon, we get into what it was like working for the sixth and final season of Fresh Prince as Will Smith was becoming a megastar, what it was like developing in Minneapolis along side the late Louie Anderson, the important role of SiriuXM in saving the stand-up comedy middleclass, helping me with my apperence on stage, as well as workshoping a one-liner that has since gone on to get a 15-second laugh break in the Belly Room of the World-Famous Comedy Store, and so much more. This is the longest episode of The Ian Ira Rousso Show in a very long time, we covered so much, and I am wildly appreciative for having them on. This was a fun one! Christian Bladt welcomes Liam McEneaney and Tom Kelly back to the show to conclude their celebration of the 30th anniversary of the debut of The Chevy Chase Show.
Christian Bladt, Liam McEneaney and Tom Kelly celebrate the 30th anniversary of the premiere of Chevy Chase's late night talk show on Fox. After it took more than an hour to get through the first fifteen minutes of the show, they realize that they need to come back to finish the episode next week, so, look for more in episode 560.
The monologue today is about AG Merrick Garland appointing a Special Counsel to the Hunter Biden Case. John points out the hypocrisy of the GOP - now claiming they are furious even though they asked for a special counsel. Then he chats with former CNN and Current TV news correspondent and on-air personality for The Stephanie Miller Show - Jacki Schechner. They discuss her community work with aids patients and the increasing homeless crisis. Next, it's John's Hollywood Panel du jour: Amanda Wyss, Liam McEneaney and Jody Hamilton. They talk about the SAG strike, the Trump trials, and the upcoming GOP debates. Then they take a call from Tony in Las Vegas. And wrapping it up - the panel talks about the Dobbs decision and Mike Pence hecklers, then they talk with Richie in L.A., Andy in Culver City, Stephen in Kentucky, Tyrone in Chicago, and closing the show it's "The Unpopular Opinion Game".See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Fun times; We learn that John Fogerty is still awesome, even though he's not from Louisiana, and Hunter Biden isn't the President. Follow John & Liam on twitter at @JohnFugelsang & @HeyItsLiam
John continues broadcasting from Los Angeles. His monologue recounts the beginnings of Donald Trump as a cheeseball celebrity and he counts off the revoltingly fake Christians of the week. First place is the Louisiana school district where a new law mandates "In God We Trust" be displayed in every classroom of public schools across the state. Next, John welcomes back his comedy panel: Dr. Tracy Pearson, Liam McEneaney, and Ron Placone. They take calls from Bill in New Jersey, Stephen in Kentucky, Dylan in New Mexico, and Dennis in San Diego. Then, John plays a clip of John Eastman's Lawyer on his defense. They take calls from Bruce in California, Rich in Dallas, and Mark in Wisconsin. He also plays a clip of Vivek Ramaswamy on conspiracy theories. Bob in California calls in to compare Charles Manson and Trump. Then finally, he interviews Greta Kemp Martin who is the Democratic candidate running for Mississippi Attorney General and running to unseat the attorney who overturned Roe v. Wade. They discuss the gutting of Roe V Wade, fighting for worker rights, and how to fund education in her state.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
It's arraignment day for Trump once again and John's monologue discusses how it began and where we are headed. He takes calls from Justin in North Carolina, and Sean in California. Then he chats with Prof. Corey Brettschneider about Trump's arraignment and indictment for his role in the January 6th insurrection. Next, John welcomes his celebrity comedy panel as he continues his stint in L.A.: Dr. Tracy Pearson, Liam McEneaney, and Ron Placone. They talk about the Trump legal troubles and play the "Unpopular Opinion Game".See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
This week we check out a show that's been making a lot of news over at the Shuli Network. I was recently a guest on Ray DeVito's show and since he seems to be everyone's punching bag I tried to give him some advice. The good news is he's trying. The bad news is, he's still Ray. Ray DeVito joins the show along with Lucy Tightbox to break down where it all went wrong. Liam McEneaney joins us to get caught up with Ray since they go way back. Then we check out some choice clips a listener pulled together from Scorch, listen to some hilarious new StutJo song parodies, check out the first new Beer on the Balcony this year, catch a dabbler, and much more! https://www.youtube.com/@RockBottomPod Tickets to the Magic Bag on 9/15 – http://watplive.com/ Support us, get bonus episodes, Vic and Hannah pics, and watch live every Saturday and most Wednesdays: http://bit.ly/watp-patreon https://watp.supercast.tech/ Learn more about your ad choices. Liam McEneaney is a stand-up comedian and filmmaker whose career's roots can be traced back to 1997. He dropped out of college to work the road and his career saw highs in 2001 when he appeared on Comedy Central's Premium Blend. I kinda remember it, but what I do remember is it was pretty popular. Since then, my friend Liam has appeared on Sirius XM (not sure if you subscribe to it) and WTF with Marc Maron (might need to pay for premium cause it's an old episode). He's done other TV stuff but I don't remember what. Today, Liam is a filmmaker who got accepted to the prestigious USC School of Cinematic Arts here in LA. We talk a lot about that. Super funny guy, one of my better friends in comedy, just a top notch dude. In the room but unmic'd we also have Joel Madison who seems like a pretty good guy. Him and Liam have a Sirius XM taping. You should go to it! www.ianirarousso.com www.instagram.com/ianirarousso www.twitter.com/ianirarousso www.facebook.com/ianirarousso www.instagram.com/theianiraroussoshow for clips and goodies!
Had a great chat with Liam-he was a well known standup and hosted an underground, well-respected comedy show in NYC for many years - Tell Your Friends, which he made into a movie directed by Victor Varnado. Thanks to Liam, I saw so many fabulous comics perform in an intimate setting such John Oliver, Kumail Nanjiani, Aziz Ansari, Janeane Garafalo, and so many more. In 2015, Liam decided to move to LA. Now at age 46, after receiving several awards for screenwriting he's been accepted into which is a very prestigious film program at University of Southern California where he begins the end of this month! There's a lot to Liam behind these details here and getting sober along the way is one part of it. BIOGRAPHY Liam McEneaney is a 2019 Academy Nicholl quarterfinalist. Two of his screenplays placed in the 2020 Final Draft Big Break Contest, and are both semifinalists in the 2021 Atlanta Film Festival. Most recently, he was a contributing writer for GARY BUSEY: PET JUDGE. Touted as one of the "100 Best Comedians of All Time" by GQ Spain, his concert film, 'Tell Your Friends!', had its world premiere at the 2011 SXSW Film Festival. Liam has made many TV appearances, including on Showtime, Comedy Central, Vh1, and IFC, as well as on podcasts like WTF with Marc Maron and radio shows like The Howard Stern Wrap Up Show. His writing credits include shows on Comedy Central, and contributing to Weekend Update and Hannibal Buress' set on The Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber. His byline has appeared in Maxim, and many obscure magazines. He is trained at Upright Citizens Brigade in LA for sketch writing and improv. Tell Your Friends! The Concert Film! (SXSW Film Festival)

This week, host Liam McEneaney visits the home office of comedy superstar Jim Gaffigan, and his wife and collaborator Jeannie Gaffigan. We discuss Jim's latest special Noble Ape, how Jim and Jeannie met, how they work together, how writing a joke about Trump is a lot like writing about religion, and a lot more. Jeannie also talks about the pear-sized tumor that was removed from her brain stem, about how the work helped speed her recovery in a year's time from surgery to directing/producing/writing on Jim's latest special. In fact, she wrote a book about it available for pre-order RIGHT NOW; When Life Gives You Pears: The Healing Power of Family, Faith, and Funny People. All this, and storytelling legend Kevin Allison of the RISK! podcast tells a hilarious and true story about the search for love in all the usual places. For the first time three contestants have competed on the show and the first time a constant instantly regretted his decision to do the show. Rob Paravonian did the live music for the show. That means on stage there were two Armenians, 1 1/2 Jews and one person just being a bitch. Thanks to Jeremy Wein for putting together the entire festival. Learn how to entertain hipsters and what it's like to perform for an audience that thinks it's cooler than you.The show I did was put together by Liam McEneaney for his showcase for a Comedy Central Presents submission, and it also featured Baron Vaughn and The Domestics.
