Vamos a hablar de síntomas y soluciones. El motor PureTech de PSA (hoy Stellantis) es un caso de estudio fascinante y trágico a la vez. Premiado como "Motor Internacional del Año" desde 2015 a 2018, ambos inclusive, por su elasticidad y bajo consumo, terminó convirtiéndose en una pesadilla para cientos de miles de usuarios. En este vídeo analizamos por qué una decisión de diseño enfocada en el ahorro de combustible puso en jaque la fiabilidad de millones de vehículos y, lo más importante, cómo puedes detectar los fallos antes de que el motor sea irreparable. El error de la correa bañada en aceite La obsesión por reducir la fricción llevó a los ingenieros a implementar la "Wet Belt": una correa de distribución que trabaja sumergida en el aceite del motor. Sobre el papel, esto reducía la fricción en un 30%, pero no se previó la reacción química. En estos motores de inyección directa, parte de la gasolina se filtra al cárter. Esa mezcla degrada el caucho de la correa, haciendo que se hinche, se ablande y se desintegre. Esos restos viajan por el circuito de lubricación, obstruyendo filtros, electroválvulas y la bomba de aceite. Los 10 Síntomas Críticos: De la sospecha al colapso Es fundamental conocer las señales que envía el coche antes de la rotura total: -Grietas transversales: El síntoma "cero". Visibles a través del tapón de llenado, indican que el caucho se ha "cocinado" y ha perdido su elasticidad. -Dilatación (El "hinchazón"): La correa absorbe hidrocarburos y se ensancha, rozando contra las paredes de su alojamiento y generando más residuos. -Deshilachado: La aparición de hilos de aramida sueltos en los bordes es una señal de peligro inminente; son los restos que más rápido taponan el sistema. -Consumo excesivo de aceite: Si el coche empieza a gastar un litro cada 1.500 km, es probable que los residuos de la correa estén obstruyendo los segmentos de los pistones. -Aviso de presión de aceite: Un mensaje fugaz en el cuadro al frenar o girar indica que la "alcachofa" de succión de la bomba está medio tapada. -Tirones y fallos de electroválvulas: Los restos de goma bloquean los filtros finos de la distribución variable (VVT), provocando inestabilidad y pérdida de potencia. -Pedal de freno duro: Quizás el fallo más peligroso. La bomba de vacío se queda sin lubricación y deja de asistir al servofreno, endureciendo el pedal de golpe. -Claqueo metálico: Sonido de metal contra metal en la parte superior debido a que la presión de aceite ya no llega a los árboles de levas. -Luz de avería fija: El desfase en la distribución por el estiramiento de la correa hace que el coche entre en modo de emergencia. -Gripado o rotura de biela: El final del camino donde la reparación ya no es posible y se requiere un motor nuevo. Modelos afectados y la reacción de la marca Este motor, bajo la denominación EB2, se ha montado en una lista larguísima de vehículos: -Peugeot: 208, 2008, 308, 3008, 5008, 508 y Rifter. -Citroën: C3, C4, C5 Aircross y Berlingo. -Opel: Corsa (desde 2019), Mokka, Crossland y Grandland. -DS: DS 3 y DS 7. -Otros: Jeep Avenger y Toyota Proace City. Tras años de llamadas a revisión y reducciones en los intervalos de mantenimiento (de 175.000 km a 100.000 km), Stellantis finalmente ha abandonado la correa húmeda en las nuevas versiones híbridas de 136 CV (EB2 Gen 3), volviendo a la cadena de acero tradicional. Es la admisión definitiva del error de diseño. Manual de supervivencia para propietarios Si tienes un PureTech con correa bañada en aceite, no todo está perdido si sigues estos consejos: -Cambios de aceite frecuentes: Hazlo cada 10.000 km o una vez al año. El aceite nuevo es menos agresivo con la correa. -Uso estricto del aceite certificado: No uses aceites genéricos.
