Fortnite Battle Royale this week introduced a Darth Vader character powered by Gemini AI, allowing lines to be generated in real time that would be said in the likeness of James Earl Jones. Naturally, the internet managed to put this to some horrible use within minutes, which has us questioning why a game like this needed something like this in the first place? Has Epic Games just handed SAG-AFTRA what they need in their STILL ongoing negotiations for AI protections? Among other things, the three take on what thinking psychoanalytically suggests about our relationships to technology, from the pleasing familiarity of effective User Interface design and frictionless movement in video games to the ways anxieties about the existence other human minds appears to be driving ever more people to prefer the projections and grandiose claims of interactions with so-called “artificial intelligence.” They then turn to another space where the questions of friction, the possibility of pain, the promise of growth, and the role of transference loom large: the classroom. In particular, they explore the ethical and interpersonal stakes of teaching psychoanalysis, and teaching in general, with an eye toward questions of repetition, narcissism, Trauma Studies as a discipline, traumatic experiences of learning, what is or isn't “outside the classroom,” the balance between taking things personally and meeting students where they are, and whether and how pedagogy and learning alike resemble therapy in all its possibilities and pains. Press Pause Radio - Podcast

ew recording platform, who dis’? Yeah, we’re all a bit excited over some of the new tech we have to produce the show, and we’re all trying to do everything we can to enjoy it while it’s still fresh and shiny in this latest episode of Press Pause Radio. This session is much more casual than the last few episodes as the cast tries to parse out the tumultuous news cycle that came to pass over the last two weeks. George, Ed, and Andrew are on the cans and take the time to discuss various layoffs and terminations seen from Electronic Arts, Polygon, and Giant Bomb (luckily, one of those unfortunate deals got some of the best news ever after the episode was long recorded and sent into production.) There’s also a quick recap of Nintendo Switch 2 Direct, and some thoughts on Grand Theft Auto VI getting delayed in 2026. Afterwards, the crew talks about the gamers they’ve been playing, like Rock Band Rivals, Clair Obscur Expedition 33, Division 2, Fantavision 202X, Promise Mascot Agency, Humanity, PSVR 2, Pokémon Brown Version 20th Anniversary Edition, Persona 3 Reload, and a shit ton more! We hope y’all enjoy the show because we’re gearing up for a whole lot more in the coming months! Mail us at our new email Mailbag@presspauseradio.com, leave a voicemail at 469-PPR-TALK, and be sure to stop by at our Forums if you haven’t already registered and post your thoughts about the show. Episode 94: The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King Our long journey through Middle-earth reaches its end as the gang takes on the towering finale of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy: The Return of the King. Craig lights the beacons with Producer's Notes (8:03), rallying the realm for the final leg of our quest. Alain draws his sword for the Beauclair Synopsis (20:22), charting the last stand against darkness with Aragorn's path to the throne and Frodo's climb toward Mount Doom. Chris raises the light of Eärendil in Philosopher's Corner (47:28), exploring the steadfast, selfless resolve of Aragorn, whose enduring hope inspires unity and courage in the face of overwhelming odds. The Black Gate then opens for a hearty discussion at The Round Table (1:00:16), before Reviews (1:54:04) and Mailbag (2:05:41) make the final climb in this epic and enduring saga. As always, we reflect on the philosophical and non-philosophical burdens carried along the film's long road—because even at the end of all things, there's still light to be found.

A longtime co-host of The Trail Show and a triple crowner, Pmags has spent decades exploring trails across the country, with a special love for the Southwest. We dive into the future of public lands, hear some of his hot takes on gear,  including his love for 100-weight fleece pullovers, his beef with sun hoodies, and where hikers tend to overspend, and get a look at his go-to "snivel gear." Pmags also shares stories from some of his lesser-known adventures, including the Ring the Peak Trail, A Walk Across Southern Utah, the Northern New Mexico Loop, the Grand Moab Route, and the Southeast Utah Group Circuit.  We wrap out the show with a rundown of the best sections of the Appalachian Trail (spoiler: #1 shocked our live audience), a "stupid thing of the week" (lost phone edition), a "gross or not gross" (chapstick edition), and the triple crown of trail towns. Mailbag questions or topic suggestions? Text us!How do we maintain spiritual, emotional, and relational health during our most demanding seasons? Lane Moss, Director of MOVE at Christ in Youth, opens up about the real challenges of summer ministry life when routines are regularly disrupted by constant travel. Lane draws an important distinction between routines (which often crumble under pressure) and rhythms (which can sustain us regardless of circumstances). "Bible before phone" becomes more than just a catchy phrase—it represents a portable spiritual anchor that works whether you're at home in your favorite chair or rushing between event venues. Lane shares practical wisdom about how to maintain connection with God when ideal circumstances aren't possible, including setting daily alarms as spiritual check-in points. The conversation takes a particularly meaningful turn when discussing family relationships during travel-intensive seasons. Lane reveals that maintaining connection with his wife and children requires intentional strategies like brief phone calls during campus walks and personalized touchpoints with each child. Most refreshingly, he admits these approaches didn't emerge naturally but through difficult conversations—sometimes arguments—that ultimately strengthened his family's resilience.Perhaps most valuable is Lane's perspective on authenticity in ministry leadership. "Nobody is served when we pretend to have it all together," he observes, noting how such pretense creates impossible standards for others while diminishing the visible work of Christ in our lives. This summer, as you navigate your own ministry challenges, may these insights help you maintain rhythms that sustain rather than deplete you. What rhythms have helped you stay grounded during intense ministry seasons?
