In this week's episode of the Feminvest podcast, you will hear from the amazing and funny Marianne Hamilton, an author with extensive business experience. "What you shall not have in a company is stagnation, that people stay too long, in a group or in a position. With internal mobility, you will achieve diversity" She was Atlas Copco's Senior Vice President, Organizational Development and Management Resources for sixteen years. Her groundbreaking introduction at Atlas Copco of an internal global job market, where everyone was welcome to apply for open positions, led to a unique opportunity to improve the organization and make its corporate culture even stronger. The process including principles and guidelines is described in her book An Organizational Philosophy. In Advice To My Dear Daughter, Marianne Hamilton gives her own deeply personal advice to women aiming for top executive positions who want to grow professionally. Her advice is based on her own experiences and observations, as well as many conversations with the women and men from the Swedish business world whom she has mentored. In all her books, Marianne Hamilton demonstrates her strong faith in the individual. Her thoughts and ideas provide pragmatic, down-to-earth guidance for women to take charge of their careers and thrive.

In this episode of Capital for Good, we speak with Heather Higginbottom, the president of the JPMorgan Chase PolicyCenter, which develops and advances sustainable, evidence-based policy solutions to drive inclusive economic growth in the United States and around the world. Having served at the highest levels of government in the State Department, the White House, and Capitol Hill, Higginbottom is one of the country's leading experts on a range of domestic, economic, foreign, and budget policy issues.   In this conversation, Higginbottom explains how the PolicyCenter allows JPMorgan Chase to work on a variety of issues related to a more inclusive economy, drawing on the firm's expertise, experience, and resources — its unique insights, perspectives, learnings, and assets — including original research through the JPMorgan Chase Institute and its global philanthropy and business and investment expertise. These include a number of areas of the firm has focused on historically, including neighborhood development (i.e., affordable housing), jobs and skills, small business and access to capital, and significant new commitments related to inclusive growth, including its recent $30 billion commitment to advance racial equity, reduce systemic racism, and help close the racial wealth divide. Using the example of the PolicyCenter's Second Chance initiative, an effort to reduce barriers to employment for people with criminal records, Higginbottom describes how JPMorgan Chase works on these issues within the firm — and with partners like the Business Roundtable and others at the industry level, including, in this case, the recently launched Second Chance Business Coalition.   Thanks for listening!Subscribe to Capital for Good on Apple, Amazon, Google, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts. Prior to joining JPMorgan Chase, Heather served as chief operating officer of CARE USA, a $650 million international nongovernmental organization that provides humanitarian and development assistance in over 90 countries reaching 80 million people per year. Heather served as Deputy Secretary of State for Management & Resources for the United States State Department from 2013 to 2017. While there, she represented the Department in the National Security Council, led diplomatic engagement on key issues, and oversaw operations and management for the 70,000 person Department. In the White House, Heather served as Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget, functioning as chief operating officer and a principal architect of the federal budget, and as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of the Domestic Policy Council. Heather has held senior positions on Capitol Hill and led policy development in two presidential campaigns. Heather is an accomplished expert in a wide range of domestic, economic, foreign, and federal budget policy development. She is a skilled public speaker who has regularly testified before Congress, in the media, and before key audiences. Heather holds a BA in political science from the University of Rochester and a master's degree in public policy from the George Washington University. Farm Management Canada is an award-winning, trusted management resource for farm business managers and others in the agriculture industry. We invited Heather onto the show this week to share their goldmine of resources dedicated to helping farmers succeed at farm business management. In this episode, Tracy and Heather chat about:  Who the National Farm Business Management Resource Centre is, when it started, and their mission. Heather shares more about their events, programs, resources, and studies: AgEx Conference - The Agricultural Excellence Conference (AgEx) is the only event in Canada dedicated exclusively to bringing farm management enthusiasts together to build their business acumen. National Farm Leadership Program - The program aims to help equip farmers with the skills to confront difficult situations and develop better response reactions to stress, improving personal and professional relationships to increase performance. AgriShield – A Comprehensive Risk Assessment and Planning Platform. They created this self-assessment and planning tool when we noticed most risk management focuses on government and/or insurance programs. Roots to Success - Managing Risk on the Farm Training Program. Using AgriShield, they are offering farmers and advisors risk management training through 2-day virtual and in-person sessions. The first sessions began in August, and we will continue until 2023. AgriResponse.ca - In response to COVID, we developed a website dedicated to helping farmers prepare for and work their way through emergency situations and contingency planning. The site includes an Ask the Expert feature, where we post responses in various media (video, written, etc.) and links to resources available. Heather touches on two of their most recent studies “Dollars & Sense” and “Healthy Minds, Healthy Farms.” These studies reveal the tremendous benefits of implementing farm business management practices, and the study also connects the dots on the dramatic impact that strong/poor business management practices can have on a farmer’s mental health. Heather and Tracy then review some of the new and exciting projects that are underway including; the Farm Financial Toolkit, Farm Transition Appreciation Day, Farm Management Manual. Are you a farmer that is continuously looking to improve their farm business? New to farm business management? This episode is excellent for any farmer, new or experienced, seeking a goldmine of farm management resources to help them hone their business acumen. We hope you enjoy the episode. …………………………. Today we are talking to very special guest Greg Lainas, Senior Vice President of Management Resources at Robert Half and President of the Connecticut Society of CPAs. He is also a character in the novel Flashback by Gary Bravely, an Accidental Accountant, and a world-class networker. Whether you’re a student looking for your first job or a professional who hasn’t had to look for a job in over 20 years, Greg has a lot of really useful information.   “If I can network my way into a book you should be able to network your way into a job.”   Greg also uses improvisational techniques and Yes, And to incredible effect. Through networking and saying Yes, And, Greg secured his first job as a CPA at Whittlesey and Hadley, found a way into ESPN in its infancy, received second interviews with IBM and Texas Instruments at their height, rose through the ranks of Robert Half to become Senior Vice President of Management Resources, and became President of the Connecticut Society of CPAs. Those are just some of the incredible stories that Greg shares in this interview – and it doesn’t even touch on how he ended up as a character in a novel. Greg understands that anything worth pursuing in life takes effort, but that doesn’t mean it’s complicated. Everything comes down to forming relationships.   “When everything else fails, let common sense prevail.”   In a business environment there’s no such thing as a stranger. When you’re looking for a job, when you’re looking for a favor, what’s the worse thing that can happen? Someone says no, and that really isn’t very bad.   “There's no magic formula. It’s ask for help and you'll get help.”   I can't thank Greg enough for taking time out of his schedule. It was a lot of fun, and it gave me a few ideas of new things I’d like to try in my own businesses. Greg manages to find both creative and simple solutions to common problems, and I hope he inspires you to go out there, talk to your network, join professional and community organizations, and start saying Yes, And today.     This week’s Improv article: Manage Stress With These 6 Improv Principles Resources: Connect with Greg on LinkedIn Robert Half Flashback by Gary Braver   Production & Development for The Impact Entrepreneur Show by Podcast Masters Learn more about your ad choices. Tom Evans, Principal at Lûcrum Marketing  @compellingmktr "It's a great honor to participate in a global forum of the product management community. Having been a product manager/product marketer for over 15 yrs, I appreciate the need for a forum like the Global Product Management Talk to discuss issues that we face on a daily basis, but often have no one in our company to speak with about them.” “I have found that most product management organizations don't have a clear measure of their maturity and health, so in my session with the Global Product Management Talk, I hope to share some ideas that will help product management organizations establish a clear vision for their organization, assess their maturity against that and create a plan to grow and become more effective in delivering globally competitive products and services.”  Brought to you this week by AIPMM, The Association of International Product Marketing and Management Resources:  http://bit.ly/wq13tX
