As we celebrate 50 years in Hip Hop, ILLMATIC CONSEQUENCES combines social science and hip-hop studies to address disinformation and propaganda that distorted political discourse after the 2020 election. In this text, scholars and activists come together to clap back on the lies that animated attacks at local school boards and the January 6, 2021, insurrection at the U.S. capitol. Following a thematic structure, these contributors address "The Crisis", "The Clapback", and "The Consequences", using hip hop and Afrofuturism as models for analysis and solutions to the cultural divisions in the United States. Inspired by the work of David Roediger, Eduardo Bonilla-Silva, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Ibram Kendi, and Carol Anderson, ILLMATIC CONSEQUENCES stretches the vision and lexicon of Nasir Jones to a new generation of artists. Readers of this text will become the vanguard of a global society dedicated to freedom, justice, and decolonization. Welcome to another episode of "1 Jewel, 1 Verse". Where Hip-Hop Hidden Gems takes a deep dive into a special verse.Who is the greatest rapper of all time? That is a question that has started many debates. Everyone has an opinion, and many of these opinions clash. However there are a hand full of rappers who are sure to be in that conversation. Nas is one of those names. So how did the Hidden Gems crew sneak a song by Nasir Jones onto their podcast? It's pretty simple really. Have you heard the song "Last Words" before? Probably not. The track off of Nas' 1999 album Nastradamus has seemed to be forgotten in time, but deserves another look. Nas is one of the greatest (and nastiest) rappers of all time. From a rough start growing up in the Queensbridge projects of NYC, Nasir Jones rose through the ranks of the rap game, and has cemented himself as one of the best to ever do it. Come hang out with Sight After Dark (Sifa and Dan) as we discuss all things Nas!
Nasir Jones, is undoubtley one of the greatest emcees to ever live. If you disagree argue with your mother. Nas is truly not from this planet, his written songs from the perspective of a gun with "I Gave You Power", rapped "before birth" with "Fetus" and "after death" with "Amongst Kings". He is top tier in every category, he has mastered making great songs, writing great verses, metaphors, similes, and everything it takes to be a great emcee. He also has went toe to toe with another one of the greatest emcees in Jay. He wrote a classic at 18. Nas has also become a savvy business man and made some of the best investments in recent history. Check out this episode on the one and only Nasir Jones. Thank you Nas for everything you have and continue to do for hip hop and the world. Thank you.

This week we bring on one of our favourite new artists to talk about one of our favourite albums ever! Memphis rapper, Lukah, talks Nas' classic second album from 1996 - It Was Written. What a time to be alive. YouTube Version
The William Shakespeare of Queensbridge, Illmatic proves that hip-hop, as an art form, should be respected, honored, and admired for it's ability to uplift spirits, detail experiences, and vividly profile our humanity. Straight out the fucking dungeons of rap, this is hip-hop excellence from a once-in-a-century MC, Mr. Nasir Jones.
Today's dose of “Vitamin D” is dedicated to being great. In fact, it's a sin to be good when you're supposed to be great. You are supposed to be great. Now the question stands, are you living an extraordinary life? Are you living your life making just enough money to get by? Are you in a relationship where you feel loved, appreciated, wanted and/or encouraged? Are you dedicating enough time to your dreams and aspirations? If you've answered “no” to any of those questions, why are you robbing yourself out of life? It's your right to live at your greatest potential. It's your right to be great. It's time for you to check yourself before you wreck yourself. Heck, half of the time we're living a mediocre life because we're used to getting mediocre results. We're comfortable. However, attaining a life that overflows in abundance takes getting a little uncomfortable. In the hit single, “I Can,” lyrically acclaimed rapper Nasir Jones encourages that you can be whatever it is that you want to be. “You can be anything in the world, in God we trust. An architect, doctor, maybe an actress, but nothing comes easy it takes much practice.” Are you ready to put in that work? Are you ready to live a life where you are nothing shy of great? I know I am. Now repeat after me, “I know I can (I know I can), be what I wanna be (be what I wanna be). If I work hard at it (If I work hard at it), I'll be where I wanna be (I'll be where I wanna be).” That's it for your dose of "Vitamin D." Be sure to follow me on all social media @DawnDaiSpeaks and until next time, always remember, "you are your greatest asset!" Learn more about your ad-choices at https://www.iheartpodcastnetwork.com
Back from a two-week vacation here goes another one. This week we give Nasir Jones the flowers that he is well deserving of. We review the Kings disease 2 album as well as the lyrical return of Lauryn Hill so to speak as well as a Tyler The Creator appreciation day. We also do a quick review of the suicide squad movie and why the fuck does a starfish need a planet to rule? Lots of jokes as usual. Hope you enjoy and thank you to everybody who listens. PS: Pardon Abdullah‘s son (who's name is NAS by the way) in the background on certain times. This week we discuss Carmen Bryan, her life and love triangle that led to one of the biggest beefs in hip hop history. When Carmen Bryan met Nasir Jones they were both still teenagers. Nas was working on his debut album and Carmen at Def Jam Records. Times were rough, but they loved each other and soon came their daughter, Destiny. With the release of Nas' album came a new level of fame, money and all the excess that comes with it. With him out "doing Nas", Carmen was left to care for their daughter and the double standard was strong. When Carmen met Jay Z, they development a long lasting friendship that would cross the line and lead to one of the biggest beefs in hip hop history. We are so glad that Carmen shared her story. We had to "give it up" to some folks that most certainly needed it this week. First off, DMX - R.I.P! The passing of DMX this past weekend left the Hip-Hop world in tatters even though we had been preparing for the worse since news of his condition was first reported last week. With all kinds of tributes and homage being paid to the Hip-Hop legend on social media, rumors are circulating that his hometown of Yonkers, NY is thinking of immortalizing the gruff-voiced rapper with a statue in the city he called home for most of his life. The city of Yonkers is also willing to let DMX’s family use the Yonkers Raceway track to host a memorial service. Yonkers Raceway has a seating capacity of 7,500, but under the state’s COVID guidelines they’d be limited to 20 percent of that number. We'll see what happens. Whatever it is, it needs to be BIG! Flavor Flav says that people are still calling him Boosie Badazz following the gag that he pulled earlier this month. At the beginning of the month, Boosie posted a video, sharing that a fan had confused him with Flav. He appeared to be distressed. Flav then also made a video, claiming that somebody had confused him with Boosie as a joke. They do look alike with those red glasses, lol! The Centers for Disease Control and the Food & Drug Administration has recommended a pause in the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine (preferred by the Black community), citing concerning new studies which may link the vaccine to a rise in blood clots. Until recently, though, Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine had been the preferred vaccine delivered to African American communities, according to multiple reports. Health care providers viewed the J&J’s shot as a blessing, since it can be stored at refrigerator temperatures for months and takes just one dose — unlike Pfizer’s and Moderna’s. We'll see where this one goes? Nas, real name Nasir Jones, has stealthily become one of the most prolific investors in the world. And his early investment in Coinbase, the cryptocurrency exchange expected to reach over $100 billion in valuation when its COIN stock lists on Wednesday, will push him into billionaire status. Nas' investment firm has been an early stage investor in some of the biggest companies in the world, including Robinhood in 2013, Ring, Lyft and Dropbox. GET THAT BREAD! Usher trended on Twitter Monday after he allegedly threw fake dollar bills with his face on them at a strip club in Las Vegas. Nasir Jones grew up in the rough projects of Queens New York. His parents divorced when he was 12 and soon after he dropped out of school in grade 8. But he had a thirst for knowledge and began reading about different cultures and religions. His high literacy level and poetry caught the attention of those on the hip hop scene enough so that he gave up on school in grade 9. He was involved in gag culture but a bigger passion burned for his passion in music. He came up in the east coast scene amongst rap legends notorious BIG and Jay z, but when biggie was killed in 97, it lead to a battle for the throne between him and Jay Z, becoming one of the greatest feuds in rap history – it's been widely disputed but the word whispered was that “Nas One”

Milestone episode number 10 was all about the Queensbridge legend, Nasir Jones aka Nasty Nas! Boy were they excited to dig deep into Lost Tapes 2, the sequel to 17 year old Lost Tapes. Rocco and Lo break the album down track by track and discuss Nas’ iconic flow, lyricism, storytelling and the heavyweight production. But first, they touch on the new XXL freshman class. How do they stack up against each other and who brought their A game to the freestyle. Push Play.
April 6, 1999 marked a very pivotal moment in the career of Nasir Jones. It was the release of "I Am..." which was supposed to be released as a double album but ended up being one of the first projects to ever get bootlegged before its release. Bumps Hollywood and Don Notz discuss what the outcome was, what could've been, and how it affected Nas in the long run. Available now on all major podcast platforms!

Citatet Sleep is the cousin of death fick en gång igång Nasir Jones skrivande.
