This episode holds a very special place in my heart, not half because my guest is a stellar chap (not even a quarter of why I like this episode) but also because his name is ALSO Peter and I finally get to use a title I've had for longer than I care to admit. I'm going to type it again because it's such a ruddy humdinger of a title and typing it means I have to say it in my head and I get to realise its brilliance all over again. Peter Rugman is my guest this episode and with him he brings the novelty of the same name and also some riveting contributions to the segments. We start as we don't mean to go on and dissect a Strypes fanfiction about bearing our children. From there we talk through the preceding days drinking and dancing and our Pokemon trainer history, (Rugman, who Peter will be referred to as from now on to save confusion) critiques and evaluates O' Hanlon's current Pokemon crystal squad) before we crack on into the segments. We circled around Sonic Seconds and cover ground from Flyte to Labi Siffre to Kath Bloom to Klaatu to Matthew Sweet to The Raspberries and finally Brian Wilson. Coming into land we don't settle the debate between YouTube app vs YouTube in-browser (Rugman's answer will disappoint you) before hurtling headlong into Vox Pas and take off soaring again into Pete's Patent Pending which enjoys a welcome return (if some sub-standard offerings). After gliding through our shared memories of canine cartoons we careen into Have I Got Tunes For You (recommendations on our end involving 'Novelty Island' and 'The Merrymakers' before we engage the landing gear and round out our time together for an Acoustic Corner for the ages.
Which side of the cross are we positioned? THE IMPENITENT THIEF -Impenitent wanted Jesus to prove himself -Impenitent wanted to gain for himself -Impenitent failed to recognize Jesus -The impenitent was lost forever THE PENITENT THIEF -The Penitent Thief showed repentance -The Penitent Thief had hope -The Penitent Thief recognized Jesus -The Penitent Thief was restored What did it take for the criminal to acknowledge Jesus? He saw Jesus sacrifice, he heard Jesus prayer, he heard the words “IT IS FINISHED” The thief knew he deserved to die and accepted Jesus' sacrifice and the ultimate price he paid for all of Mankind.

iTunes Spotify Youtube Patreon Bob Gruen is one of the most well-known and respected photographers in rock and roll. From John Lennon to Johnny Rotten; Muddy Waters to the Rolling Stones; Elvis to Madonna; Bob Dylan to Bob Marley; Tina Turner to Debbie Harry, he has captured the music scene for over forty years in photographs that have gained worldwide recognition. Shortly after John Lennon moved to New York in 1971, Bob became John and Yoko's personal photographer and friend, making photos of their working life as well as private moments. In 1974 he created the iconic images of John Lennon wearing a New York City t-shirt and standing in front of the Statue of Liberty making the peace sign – two of the most popular of Lennon's images. As chief photographer for Rock Scene Magazine in the '70s, Bob specialized in candid, behind the scenes photo features. He toured extensively with the emerging punk and new wave bands including the New York Dolls, Sex Pistols, Clash, Ramones, Patti Smith Group and Blondie. Bob has also worked with major rock acts such as Led Zeppelin, The Who, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Elton John, Aerosmith, Kiss and Alice Cooper. In 1989, he documented the epic trip to Russia of the “Moscow Music Peace Festival” featuring Ozzy Osbourne, Mötley Crüe and Bon Jovi. For many years Bob was the official photographer for the New Music Seminar held in New York City, covering dozens of aspiring new bands in the course of a summer week. This seminal body of work reflects a profound commitment and long-standing personal friendship with the artists. His wealth of personal experiences and uncanny memory provide the most illuminating and comprehensive histories of rock youth culture. “All Dolled Up,” a DVD documentary made by Bob Gruen and Nadya Beck of their early '70s video footage of the New York Dolls, was released in 2005 with a follow-up DVD, “Lookin' Fine On Television” released in 2011. In the spring of 2007 FAAP University in Sao Paulo, Brazil, presented an exhibition of Bob Gruen's work. Titled ROCKERS, the exhibition attracted 40,000 visitors. The ROCKERS exhibition was also shown from April to July 2008 at Morrison Hotel Gallery on the Bowery in New York City. Bob's “Sid Vicious with Hot Dog” photo was acquired by The National Portrait Gallery, London, in 1999 for their permanent collection. The Experience Music Project, Seattle, acquired his “Clash Live in Boston”, “Tina Turner Multiple Image”, and “Bloody Sid Vicious” photos for their permanent collection in March 2012. In 2011 award winning director Don Letts made a feature length film titled ‘Rock & Roll Exposed – the Photography of Bob Gruen' including interviews with Iggy Pop, Debbie Harry, Alice Cooper, Yoko Ono, Billie Joe Armstrong and many more. Bob was presented in June 2004 with MOJO Magazine's prestigious Honours List Award for Classic Image in London and in November 2010 he was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. For his many charitable contributions, Bob received the first ever John Lennon Real Love Award in December 2014 at the 32nd Annual John Lennon Tribute Concert. More recently he has also photographed Green Day's tour of Europe, Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band, Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Jesse Malin, Ryan Adams, Courtney Love, The Strypes and other new popular acts. Regan Lane is a Tacoma area musician who has had a long musical career. In this episode we chat about his musical career from the present to the past. We also talk about life in Tacoma and other interesting topics. Of course, coffee is mentioned.Regan shares stories of his journey of sobriety and how it has influenced his musical journey.Currently Regan is creating music under the band name Soda Cracker Jesus. SCJ is best described as where energy meets euphoria in a two and a half minute sonic workout. (admittedly stolen directly from the bio on SJC.). Make sure you check out the videos for My Anthem and Drug My Soul.In addition to SJC Regan is the singer for Strangely Alright. Billed as sonic time-travelers SA is a band that paints paisley patterned pictures that are both rooted in psychedelia and in optimistic kindness. We were able to recently take in a set by Strangely Alright and it was not just alright but downright amazing!Regan started his musical career in a band in Tacoma named Baby Knockors, after Baby Knockers, he joins the band Strypes and became a musical mainstay in the Puget Sound.Regan is a great story teller and you will find yourself learning so much about the process of making music and growing as both a performer and a human. This is truly an inspiring episode and we are grateful that Regan took the time to hang out with us.There are so many amazing places to explore in Washington State, you should just pack your bags and go! My guest on this episode is the fabulous Chris Difford - singer, musician, songwriter, and record producer - founding member of Squeeze with Glenn Tilbrook. His musical journey has run parallel to Paul Weller - from starting his first band in 1972 - to hitting the big time in 1978 - and a legacy of magnificent songs like Cool for Cats, Up The Junction, Is That Love, Some Fantastic Place - and at times their story has crossed over too - most notably with Paul recording his 2000 LP at Chris' studio Heliocentric (the album was named after the studio!) A master of the smart, pithy lyricism - Chris has also written songs for Jools Holland, Elton John, Wet Wet Wet, Helen Shapiro, Billy Bremner and Elvis Costello - been the manager of Bryan Ferry and The Strypes, and released four brilliant solo albums. Chris published his autobiography in 2018 - Some Fantastic Place - which charts his life from childhood in south London to becoming a member of one of Britain's greatest bands and beyond. Along the way Chris reveals the inspiration and stories behind Squeeze's best-known songs, and his greatest highs and lows from over four decades of making music. The Music Business is exactly what it says on the tin. Music and Business. Josh McClorey is a successful 25 year old musician from Cavan. He spent over a decade playing with the Strypes, a very successful young Irish band notorious for their 60's &70's Rock & Roll and Rhythm & Blues style of music. As teenagers they were global, played in Arena's, toured the world and released 3 albums. Josh is extremely proud of what they achieved. The Strypes split up in late 2018 and Josh has now embarked on a solo artist career. He chats today about the past 10 years, what he has learned and how this has helped him forge his successful solo artist career.
