We continue celebrating Morrissey's guitarists this week by hearing from longtime collaborator Boz Boorer! The love of rockabilly runs deep with this group and was central to Boz and Moz hitting it off. Boz stuck around for decades and co-wrote many of Moz's best songs including "The More You Ignore Me", "Maladjusted", and "Jack the Ripper". Right now he's about to release a solo album called Morrissey: Reimagined which is him and a bunch of friends doing wild covers of the classics we know. Boz discusses how the two of them work, his current status in the band, his days in the Polecats, and his love for rare vinyl. Enjoy! www.bozboorer.com www.patreon.com/thehustlepod

Born in Brooklyn and raised in Massapequa, New York, Phantom grew up listening to his parents' jazz records and began playing drums by the age of ten. He took lessons with Mousie Alexander, who played with Benny Goodman, studying jazz and working through books by Jim Chapin and Ted Reed. By the late 1970s, he was playing in bands with his childhood friend, bassist Lee Rocker. They soon joined forces with guitarist Brian Setzer to form Stray Cats.[ When performing with Stray Cats, Phantom did not sit behind a standard drum kit like most drummers, but instead opted to play in a standing position with a minimalist set-up of bass drum, snare drum, hi-hat, and crash cymbal. During downtime from Stray Cats, Phantom played in swing, rockabilly, and jump blues combo The Swing Cats with Rocker and ex-Polecats guitarist Danny B. Harvey,[6] as well as rockabilly and glam rock project Phantom, Rocker & Slick with Rocker and guitarist Earl Slick. In 1985, he appeared with Carl Perkins and a host of other musicians including Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Dave Edmunds and Rosanne Cash for Blue Suede Shoes: A Rockabilly Session in London, England. Phantom also played with Jerry Lee Lewis. He later formed Col. Parker with former Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, releasing the album Rock n Roll Music in 2001.[ Most recently, he has been involved in the eponymous roots-rock band Slim Jim's Phantom Trio; rock-and-roll supergroup Dead Men Walking with Kirk Brandon and Mike Peters, and Captain Sensible;[ and rockabilly supergroup The Head Cat with Danny B. Harvey and the late Motörhead vocalist and bassist Lemmy. He also hosts the Rockabilly Raveup show on Little Steven's Underground Garage. In March 2023, Barnes announced the supergroup The Barnestormers, featuring Barnes, Cheney, Phantom with Jools Holland and Kevin Shirley. A self-titled album was released on 26 May 2023. Making the rounds in social media are adorable videos of Marbled Polecats visiting soldiers in the trenches of Ukraine. It had us thinking, what is their story and where do they range. First, our heats go out to all those affected by the war, or any war for that matter. Not to mention to the untold devastation to all the animals in the area! Including the Marbled Polecat. These animals actually have a massive range from Mongolia and China, all the way to Eastern Europe. Yet, they are disappearing in much of their range. Like any mustelid, Marbled Polecats are full of personality, tenacity, and just plain toughness. Another great creature to learn about. Thanks HelloFresh! Staci's guest is singer and guitarist Tim Polecat, who's best known to music fans for his British-born neo-rockabilly band, The Polecats, who had a hit in the U.S. in the ‘80s, “Make a Circuit with Me.” Tim is a fan of The Ventures and an incredibly knowledgeable music historian, so naturally, he is in the documentary “Stars on Guitars.” The pair also talk about David Bowie, how punk rock broke in the U.K., Tim's foray into production design for music videos by Ozzy Osbourne, Sir Mix-A-Lot, Alice Cooper, and much more.

John Buck - The Polecats - in conversation with David Eastaugh The band were first signed by the fledgling British rockabilly record label Nervous Records, and recorded their first single "Rockabilly Guy" at guitarist Alan Warner's "Lane Studios" in 1979. Formerly with the "Foundations" band, Warner toured and recorded with the Polecats for about a year. In 1980, the band signed to Mercury Records, and released their most successful LP, Polecats Are Go! They had UK chart success with a David Bowie cover, "John, I'm Only Dancing", a reworking of "Rockabilly Guy", and another cover version of the T-Rex (Marc Bolan) song "Jeepster".[2] In 1983, they hit the charts in the United States with their song, "Make a Circuit with Me".John Buck replaced Neil Rooney in 1982 playing drums.

Sex vampires! Demonic possession! The burning of heretics! Sexual awakenings! Polecats! They're all right here in a pair of full color fantasias from Europe. First, young Valerie (Jaroslava Schallerová) finds her journey into womanhood fraught with grotesque vampires, pervy priests and vicious polecats in the Czech new wave weirdness of Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (1970). Then, Italian maestro Federico Fellini explores similar themes in Juliet of the Spirits (1965) where his wife and muse Giulietta Masina is thrust into a dreamlike world by suspicions of her husband's infidelity. As in our first film, we've got the burning of witches, demonic possession, and creepy nuns, but it's Fellini so there's also a tree house with a sex elevator and plenty of circus weirdness all set to a jaunty Nino Rota score. Philena Franklin and Cory Sklar are here to recommend the weed and Bob Calhoun brings us all down by talking about the Soviet tanks rolling into Prague. Valerie and Her Week of Wonders in streaming on Criterion Channel and Juliet of the Spirits is streaming on HBOMax and Criterion. Weed is at your dispensary in participating states.

What’s most exciting about this 2020 American Election is that we, Americans, elected someone who believes in science. Sad, but true. There are going to be actual scientist in charge of the EPA and CDC. There are going to be actual professionals in different cabinet positions instead of people looking out only for their own interests. Hey, we might even decide to start taking global climate change seriously. The immediate future is even more unpredictable than usual, but what we do know is that Better Than Human is here with a phew skunk facts, and to tell you that you shouldn't judge skunks based on their smell. Skunks are actually adorable, even if they have scent glands that allow them to spray noxious chemicals with a high degree of accuracy, as far as 10 feet. Skunks are omnivorous that can easily adapt to human environments, which is why you might find them hanging out in your backyard. But why are Skunk’s better than human? Listen now to find out.
