Two-time Emmy and three-time NAACP Image Award-winning, television Executive Producer Rushion McDonald, interviewed Stephanie Stuckey. The Chair of Stuckey's. A pecan snack and candy company based in Wrens, GA. She is also the author of “Unstuck: Reviving an American Icon.” Stuckey's growth lies in their partnership with almost 5,000 retailers nationwide that sell their delicious pecan snacks and candies. Questions About the Company's History and Legacy: Stuckey's has such a rich history. Can you share what initially inspired the rebirth of the brand after all these years? How does social media on LinkedIn work? The Power of Marketing and Branding. What strategies did you implement to turn Stuckey's around and bring it back to the forefront of the market? Acquiring a pecan manufacturing facility was a major step. How has owning this facility impacted your product offerings and business growth? What role does innovation play in the resurgence of Stuckey's, especially in terms of product development and marketing? Questions About Branding and Marketing: Stuckey's is known for its nostalgic appeal. How do you balance honoring that nostalgia while also appealing to modern consumers? How important has social media and digital marketing been in the rebirth of Stuckey's? Questions About Leadership and Vision: What's your long-term vision for Stuckey's, and how do you plan to continue the momentum you've built? What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs wanting to start their own business? Questions About Partnerships and Community: How have partnerships with retailers and other brands contributed to the comeback of Stuckey's? Stuckey's has deep roots in Georgia. How important has the local community been in your company's resurgence? Can you share any upcoming collaborations or new product launches that will be part of Stuckey's comeback story? It all started with a borrowed Model A Ford and a $35 loan With that, W.S. “Sylvester” Stuckey, Sr. founded Stuckey's as a roadside pecan stand along Highway 23 in Eastman, GA in 1937. With that Ford that he retrofitted to haul pecans and the loan (from his grandmother), W.S. drove around the countryside and bought pecans from local farmers to sell at his stand, along with local honey and souvenirs. His wife, Ethel, added her delicious homemade candies – southern delicacies like pralines, Divinities, and our iconic Pecan Log Rolls. Through grit and determination, the Stuckeys grew the stores from these humble beginnings to a roadside empire. At its peak in the 1960s, the little pecan company had become an integral part of the American road trip. It boasted 368 stores in over 30 states, each offering kitschy souvenirs, clean restrooms, Texaco gas, and of course, our famous candies. Stuckey's also owned a candy plant in Eastman to allow for larger production of sweet treats, a trucking company, and a sign company that produced the 4,000 Stuckey's billboards that dotted America's highways. Stuckey's merged with Pet Milk Co. in 1964 to add capacity and capital for the company to grow. Decline and Rebound W.S. Stuckey, Sr. died in 1977, the same year that Illinois Central Industries, a Chicago conglomerate, bought Pet Milk Co., and they began to close Stuckey's stores across the country. Stuckey's fell into a decline until 1984 when W.S. “Billy” Stuckey, Jr., son of the founder and a five-term Congressman from the 8th District of Georgia, acquired Stuckey's and began to turn the company around. Under Billy's helm, the Stuckey's Express concept – or a store within a store – was launched, and the company expanded to over 115 franchises in 17 states. The Eastman candy plant continued operations by a third-party contractor but was shuttered in 2009 during the Recession, although Stuckey's branded candies continued to be produced by outside vendors. In November of 2019, Ethel “Stephanie” Stuckey, Billy's daughter, took over as CEO of Stuckey's. In August of 2020, Stuckey's acquired Front Porch Pecans, a pecan snack company that sells to domestic and foreign markets, including grocery channels in the Southeast U.S. With this merger, Stuckey's gained management support with R.G. Lamar as new President to run Stuckey's with Stephanie. In January of 2021, Stephanie and R.G. acquired a pecan manufacturing facility in Wrens, Georgia to drive growth of the company through snack and candy making. Later that year, they added a third equity owner, Ted Wright, a marketing professional based in Atlanta. Today, Stuckey's is making a comeback, thanks to reinventing the brand as a pecan snack and candy company. They are once again making the delicious products that Ethel first made in her country kitchen, and Sylvester sold at his roadside stand. There are still 13 original blue roof Stuckey's stores in operation. These stores are not owned or operated by the parent corporation but are licensed to sell our products and remain an important part of our past and story. Stuckey's growth lies in our partnership with almost 5,000 retailers nationwide, including Hobby Lobby, Bealls, Ingles, Wawa, TravelCenters of America, and others, that sell our delicious pecan snacks and candies. The company also maintains an online store, a fundraising business, and a corporate gift program. In August of 2022, R.G. Lamar, Jr. transitioned to the role of CEO, and Stephanie Stuckey assumed the role of Chair. They continue to run the day-to-day operations of Stuckey's, with R.G. driving internal growth and Stephanie being the external face of the brand. From a humble pecan stand to a nationwide brand, the future looks bright for Stuckey's. Look for our products soon in a store near you — and be part of our comeback journey! #SHMS, #STRAW, #BESTSupport the show: https://www.steveharveyfm.com/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Surviving Cataclysm - Ted Wright
The resurrection is the defining historical event related to Christianity, so how can you have a discussion with someone about that? Ted Wright from Epic Archaeology joins Henry in a discussion about apologetics, and tools to help give a reason for the faith in Jesus. Ted lays out four questions to help when discussing: Does truth exist? Does God exist? Are miracles possible? and is the New Testament reliable? If the answer is yea to all four, then that is pretty solid logic to be standing on during a discussion about faith.

Great products sell themselves and advertising is just the price you pay for a bad product right? Word of Mouth Marketing or WOM. Is it even a channel? Can you really grow without spending money on advertising? Can you enhance the natural rate of WOM? The TL:DR answer is Yes. Yes and Yes. Right now, budgets are getting crimped and the heat is on for high-cash burn marketing channels. And there's nothing higher cash-burn than advertising. So how do you grow a brand and sell your product without advertising? Everyone knows the most powerful growth-driver is word-of-mouth. It's especially critical for higher-involvement, more complex, higher priced products/services which require a lot of trust. There are lots of products and services which we don't exactly purchase after seeing a few ads. Especially if your brand is less known. For finance, invasive medical, real estate, estate planning, and accounting...this is especially the case. WOM hits at the core of great marketing. In fact, it's a great barometer of organic growth as well as the degree of product-market fit you have. But is it fixed? Is it just a the result of upstream activity? Can we use it as a growth channel? Is there even a playbook to make it work? Ted Wright, former Booze Allen consultant, ex-Delta Airlines global brand manager, Lecturer at Wharton, Founder and CEO of WOM marketing agency Fizz spills the beans. In this episode, you'll learn how important it is to go back to basics. Understand your core offering. Identify those who are most likely to recommend your product to others and then, put in place a program to enhance this natural process. But there's 3 factors necessary before this holy grail of marketing will work. And there's 3 product categories where it's almost impossible. We also delve into a bit of attribution and channel strategy. Especially the problems with spending money on channels which claim to contribute to sales, but don't. Something which can be easily overlooked when presented with a good-looking MMM report or a fancy digital attribution dashboard. In this episode, you'll find out: - how New Zealand sauvignon blanc became something from nothing. - which two simple Viagra ads originally catapulted the drug into popular culture - what the difference is between WOM and referrals, advocates, super fans and influencers - why getting your story right so critical - the difference between truth vs authenticity in your brand story - why brands who pay Kim Kardashian for social exposure almost never use her again - the parallels between WOM and Einstein's comments on dark matter - what rasterization is - why you should follow Steakumms on social media And finally, Find out why, word of mouth is this podcast's most powerful growth channel. All these questions and more will be answered in this interview. Just remember to tell at least one other person about this episode or Ted is going to mark me down!

This week on Timeless Leadership, the topic is Patience. The old adage says patience is a virtue, but what does that mean, exactly? Our guest this week is Ted Wright, a pioneer in word of mouth marketing (WOMM) and the CEO of Fizz. If anything, Ted understands how his work requires patience from others. Ted became impatient after his father died when he was just a teenager, and he had to work to slow himself down and practice patience ever since. Epic Archaeology's Ted Wright joins us to look at the major themes and events of the book of Exodus.
The official launch date of the book, Winfluence - Reframing Influencer Marketing to Ignite Your Brand - is Tuesday! This is technically the last episode of the podcast before the book is officially out — though Amazon has already started shipping it, so you can get it before then — but that launch date brings us to another book sneak peek episode and today we’re going to talk to Daniel Lemin. He is the co-author of Talk Triggers - The Complete Guide to Creating Customers with Word of Mouth, written with Jay Baer. We talked about word of mouth on the last episode with Ted Wright and he comes up in the conversation here, too. But Daniel and I chatted while I was writing the book because I use some research he and Jay Baer conducted that was relevant to influencers. But I needed clarification as to whether or not an online influencer might qualify as an “expert” in terms of a source for product recommendations and research. For the conversation today, we start there, but get a little deeper in what role influencers play in ratings and reviews and Daniel’s main area of focus which is online reputation management or ORM. He explains what that is for those of you who may not know, but it’s essentially a combination of the disciplines of SEO, social media, content, public relations, corporate comms and beyond, to ensure a company’s online presence is protected. Daniel recently joined the team at Edelman, one of the world’s largest PR firms, to head a team devoted to ORM. You can find him online at DanielLemin.com or on Twitter or LinkedIn. This episode of Winfluence - The Influence Marketing Podcast is presented by Winfluence - Reframing Influencer Marketing to Ignite Your Brand, my new book from Entrepreneur Press. You can find it in bookstores everywhere. Winfluence, the book, is not just a strategic blueprint to help you employ smart influence marketing strategies for your business or clients, but it explains why our common perception of influencer marketing is all wrong. I take you through how to re-think and reframe the concepts to turn influencer marketing into influence marketing … broaden the perspective and open new avenues of leveraging influential people -- online and offline -- to grow your business. Word of Mouth has been called the holy grail of marketing. Some of the world’s best marketing case studies center around brands with great word of mouth, or WOM programs. The Harley Davidson Owners Group, Maker’s Mark Ambassadors, Fiskars Scissors, Pabst Blue Ribbon’s hip resurgence—all classic Word of Mouth case studies. But Word of Mouth is still a bit of an enigma to many brands. The output isn’t an ad. Or a website. Or a piece of collateral. The outcomes … at least of those of successful programs … is often incredible lift for the brand over time. But over time is complicated. Was it this magic sauce word-of-mouth that you don’t actually see or was it all the other marketing things we were doing? Ted Wright has authored probably half of the top 10 most successful word of mouth marketing programs. He is perhaps known most for reigniting the Pabst Blue Ribbon brand 20 years ago. A good portion of Chapter 14 of Winfluence - Reframing Influencer Marketing to Ignite Your Brand is pieces of my interview for the book. But I wanted to go deeper with him on some of his experience and ideas about word of mouth to see if influence marketing and even online influencers are just a variation of the theme. In some ways, I feel like what we do as influence marketers is build word of mouth programs. But I know better than to outright claim that because folks like Ted tend to take exception to people hitching onto their wagon without at least running it by them first. In the spirit of my interviews of late, I suppose, we get a little vocal toward the end as Ted builds an argument that influencers aren't effective. But that's what happens me Ted and I get together. We enjoy the disagreements and are never disagreeable with one another. Enjoy this one. Ted Wright is always fun to talk to. You can find Ted on LinkedIn and Fizz at FizzCorp.com. The question of Israelite origins remains one of the hottest debates amongst ancient historians. Did a massive Hebrew invasion force wipe out the Canaanites in the 15th/13th century B.C.? Is the entire military career of Joshua invented from thin air? Building off of the previous discussion of the exodus, we proceed into the murky waters […]
Stephen and Phineas have a fascinating conversation with an OG in word of mouth marketing, Ted Wright. They discuss the science behind why authentic, unpaid brand advocates are the difference maker for consumer brands that win in the long run.
Did the Israelite exodus from Egypt really happen? Were the biblical characters Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Aaron, and certain pharaohs real men of history, or just part of a narrative Christians assume? We are joined by Ted Wright of Epic Archaeology (https://epicarchaeology.org/) to look at a cumulative case for the historicity of the Exodus.

Back before the days of radio and TV, people gossiped (heck, people still gossip). Word of mouth is how you knew about the latest events, when the corner store had a new product, and even when your town got new neighbors. Overtime, things changed with broadcast marketing and, what was an easy way to get a message to the masses, eventually became another marketing tool we got really good at tuning out. In this episode of AMP Up Your Digital Marketing, host Glenn Gaudet dives into the reemergence of word of mouth marketing with Ted Wright, CEO of the word of mouth agency, Fizz. He’ll dive into how word of mouth marketing can support digital marketing efforts, resulting in far greater impact and more personal conversations than one method over another.
Epic Archaeology – Ted Wright pt 2 (https://kcrpodcast.com/?attachment_id=98715) Many people today think the Bible is just a collection of writings from the ancient Middle East. Put together in such a way that it weaves an interesting story. Some fact, some fiction, some mysticism. But the truth presented in lopsided, one sided and does not truly convey what actually happened. A collection of stories that were based, basically on man’s imagination, manipulation and political ambitions of that day. But, when presented with scientific evidence; when presented with actual artifacts from ancient times that back up what the Bible says truly happened…well, the results can be, shall we say, “Epic.” My guest today is the Executive Director of “Epic Archaeology,” Ted Wright. Epic Archaeology is dedicated to cutting edge research as well as bringing the wonder of archaeology, historical investigation and discovery to the everyday person. Ted is freelance teacher, writer, researcher and founder of EpicArchaeology.org (http://www.epicarchaeology.org/) . For over a decade, Ted has been a speaker on Christian apologetics as well as Biblical Archaeology across North America & internationally. In addition to public speaking, Ted was the former Executive and Teaching Director of CrossExamined.org. Ted has also appeared on numerous television and radio programs including the History Channel’s TV miniseries – “Mankind: The Story of All of Us,” as well as CNN’s recent documentary on the historical resurrection of Jesus, “Jesus: Faith. Fact. Forgery.” Ted has a B.A. in Anthropology & Archaeology from the Cobb Institute of Archaeology at Mississippi State University and an M.A. in Christian apologetics with a concentration in philosophy from Southern Evangelical Seminary, where he served as graduate research assistant to Dr. Norman Geisler. Ted has participated in numerous excavations and is an Adjunct Professor at the Charlotte Christian College and Theological Seminary. You mentioned the actual location of the Crucifixion is under the Cathedral of the Holy Sepulchre. Are there any tours you can take that take you below that area? I was watching the videos on your website, and one that caught my attention was about the discrepancy concerning the “Walls of Jericho.” Can you explain how archaeology corrected a wrong interpretation that was trying to disprove the Bible? Tell us about your favorite excavation you have been on. What was your favorite and what was the big “ah-ha” moment for you? Biblical Archaeology is also a study of how people lived in that day, correct? Like the cultural, day to day life of the people? Ted, this all fascinating to me. I could go on for hours just picking your brain on this stuff. But we are about out of time for today. If someone wanted to get in touch with you, to ask a question or maybe do an interview such as this, how can they do that? How can they get in touch with you? You have a newsletter people can subscribe to as well, correct? I will be putting links to all of this in the show notes as well. Folks, there you have it. Science, when correctly applied, can back up the Biblical accounts we have had handed down to us through the Bible. Archaeology is simply looking for physical pieces of history that have been preserved through the eons of time. And, as you have heard today from Ted Wright, time and time again, it is proving the Bible to be accurate! Amen! Ted, I want to thank you for taking the time to come and share with us today and I want to thank you for the work you are doing for the Body of Christ. That is all the time we have for today. You need to go to Ted’s website, www.epicarchaeology.org (http://www.epicarchaeology.org/) and look around. There is so much information on that website. I love it. And be sure to sign up to his newsletter while you are there. It will keep you abreast of things happening, in the archaeology...

Ted, thank you for taking the time to join us today! Everyone who listens to us knows that I’m a, for lack of a better term, history nerd. And I love it when I hear about a new archaeological discovery that validates some Bible story that has never been validated before. It just makes me want to do my “happy dance” in the face of Bible critics! Let me start with this question…I always ask this first question of our guests. Other than that short bio I just read, tell us in your own words, “Who is Ted Wright?” How did you get interested in Biblical Archaeology? What was that “spark?” Some people think that science is science and does not have anything to do with Faith. And that if you rely on science to confirm what the Bible says, you do not have Faith in the Bible alone. Can you explain what the relationship is between archaeology and the Bible? Ted, I can only imagine the excitement as you brush away some sand or soil and see, for the first time in perhaps 2,000 years, something that was previously only known through the scriptures and questioned by Bible critics. And, as you continue to uncover others things – end up proving the scriptures to be accurate! I know that archaeology, by itself, cannot “prove,” I don’t know, lets’ say – the resurrection. Archaeology cannot prove it truly happened. But, can you tell what has been discovered that adds credence and authority to the Biblical accounts of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus? I’ve heard that the “Garden Tomb” is just representative of what the tomb of Jesus would have been like. That it is not the actual tomb. In your work and research, what is your opinion of that cultural site? So, has archaeology basically proven the Bible to be accurate already? If someone wanted to get in touch with you, to ask a question or maybe do an interview such as this, how can they do that? How can they get in...

Individuals who are victims of violence can be targets of employment discrimination, just when maintaining economic independence and security is most critical. Violence often jeopardizes victims’ ability to keep a job, whether because of the need for time off for court appearances or medical attention, or abusers’ active interference or sabotage, i.e. preventing victims from going to work, harassment at work, limiting access to cash and transportation, and manipulating child-care arrangements. Critics of the Old Testament say that the story of Moses leading the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt is a myth and that no archaeological evidence outside scripture exists for the story. However, Ted Wright of Epic Archaeology believes that critics are misdating the story of the Exodus and that there is archeological evidence in the reign of an ancient Pharaoh that supports the story. Bob Price believes the Old Testament is mainly fictional and interacts with Ted on why he believes the evidence doesn't stack up in favour of their being a Moses or an Exodus. Feel free to read the NH 1 article in the show notes, as well as their conversations with the AG. These reps include Pamela Tucker, Amanda Bolden, Joseph Lachance, and Ted Wright. Broadly, I'm wondering why any of them would say anything. Probably in exchange for amnesty, but what did the AG really have one them? Some online communication perhaps. But unless they could track the money, or witnessed the sale, I'm wondering why they said anything at all. I'm disappointed any liberty minded reps would participate so fully. Perhaps there are circumstances beyond my knowledge, and if so, I'm free to change my mind later. At first read, dissapointed. Bouldin and Lachance were pretty detailed in discussing their interactions with Tasker, Bouldin naming Pamela Tucker as someone who she knew purchased drugs from Tasker. Lachance quite forthright about details of his purchases, as well as Tasker's operation. Pamela Tucker is a complete hypocrite. Her official position is against marijuana use. So it's ok to lock peaceful people up for using a plant, but she gets away with it because of her privileged position. Of the four it's pretty easy to have compassion for Ted Wright, whose wife battled cancer and used marijuana to suppress the terrible side affects of her treatment. http://www.wmur.com/blob/view/-/41901810/data/1/-/taqxet/-/PDF---Tasker-report.pdf Praxeum Free Market day recap Sponsor Umami https://www.facebook.com/umami284/ Local happenings NH film festival New Hampshire's 16th annual film festival will be in Portsmouth October 13th-16th NHFF ranked in the top 50 films festivals in the world Venues have yet to be released, Last year's venues were The music hall, The music hall loft, Moffatt-Ladd house and the 3S Artspace At this year's festival there are nearly 100 films VIP passes $200 (Premium and advanced seating at every screening at every venue throughout the 4 day event [as long as patrons arrive 15 minutes before scheduled screening time] priority entrance to all ceremonies and parties including the VIP Brunch at the One Hundred Club. Seacoast History Behind the Name: Placenames are surprisingly sticky. Almost all names aren't original, they come from one place or another Rockingham County: Named after Charles Watson-Wentworth 2nd Marquess of Rockingham. He was Prime minister from 1765-66 tried to repeal the Stamp Act while PM. He was leader of the opposition for the following 12 years and was a staunch supporter of constitutional rights for the colonists. In a latter he wrote, "I fear indeed the future struggles of the people in defence of their Constitutional Rights will grow weaker and weaker. It is much too probable that the power and influence of the Crown will increase rapidly. We live at the period when for the first time since the Revolution, the power and influence of the Crown is held out, as the main and chief and only support of Government. If we...do not exert now, we may accelerate the abject state to which the Constitution may be reduced" Strafford County: Named after William Wentworth, 2nd Earl of Strafford. Erroneously named because it was thought that he was an ancestor of NH Governor John Wentworth 1767-1775. Strafford died childless. Portsmouth: Named after the city in Hampshire, England. Which was the port where NH colony founder John Mason had been captain. Hampshire is named after the town of Hampton which later became Southampton, Hampshire, England (to distinguish from Northampton) Dover: Named after Robert Dover in 1637 by second NH governor George Burdett. Dover was a lawyer who resisted Puritanism, Burdett was episcopalian and as we've discussed before NH wasn't puritan like Plymouth Colony. Rochester: Named by Massachusetts and NH Governor Samuel Shute for his friend Laurence Hyde, 1st Earl of Rochester brother-in-law to King James II Gonic: Short for Squamanagonic. Abenaki for “water of the clay place hill” Somersworth: Named originally Summersworth like the season because it was a place where ministers would preach in the summer. When it was incorporated in 1754 a clerical error caused the current spelling Exeter: Named by John Wheelwright after Exeter, Devon Piscataqua: Abenaki from the roots Peske(branching) tegwe(strong tidal river). Cochecho River: Abenaki for rapid foaming water. Relating to the falls at Dover. Cocheco Manufacturing Company incorporated in 1827 also had a clerical error removing the final h when they were incorporated. Most people now pronounce it Co-chee-co now. Podcast Rewind I appeared on the Podcasting Success Secrets podcast talking Podcasting for Authors I also appeared on the Podcasters Roundtable talking rebranding your show. What Appears to be Another Great Book on Word of Mouth Marketing I heard about Ted Wright and his book Fizz: Harness the Power of Word of Mouth Marketing to Drive Brand Growth on the Social Media Examiner podcast I'm only through chapter one, but here are some gems. The Power of word of mouth marketing is that it is a targeted message from a trusted source, every single time. 10 Percent of the population decides what to buy, and the other 90 percent goes along with it. 50 percent of all purchasing decisions are based on primarily on a friends recommendation Bissell sweepers went to RVs with Dogs. GO to where your audience is. Because its important to you, doesn't mean its important to your audience. 8 Ways a Stranger Can Help You Grow Your Audience I get hired for consulting and one of the reasons is people want a set of eyes on their website that hasn't been looking at it non-stop for 2 weeks. You need a fresh perspective. While it is my pasion to help people with their podcast (and you can get great feedback from myself AND Eric K. Johnson at www.podcastreviewshow.com) some people may not have that in the budget. Here are some things you can get your family to do at your next picnic. 1. Give you feedback on your elevator pitch. 2. Comment on your business card Then have them go to your website and without coaching them, have them 3. Play your show 4. Subscribe to your podcast in iTunes or Android 5. Contact you 6. Share your post. 7. Subscribe to Your Newsletter 8. Repeat steps 3-7 on their phone Podcast Launch Update I am pondering launching a show spotlighting some of the top liked clips on clammr. I did one episode and sent it to some folks. I got some great feedback, and some good insight. What's changed? The show was going to be a top 50. I'm experimenting, and I did a new episode with just 20 clammrs (clips) and it was received much better. I was also told to inject myself more into the clips, in essence, "Be Dave" and have fun. Please notice, I haven't made these tests completely public, the first "top 50" episode will be a collector's item. I'm also not in iTunes. You don't have to release everything you record. John Wanamaker, the famous department store magnate, once said that he knew that at least half of his advertising budget was wasted. Problem was, he didn’t know which half. For anybody that’s in business today, you know how difficult it is making your product or service stand out among the competition and noise of today’s marketplace. It’s a lot tougher than it was for Don Draper.Advertising is everywhere. Television, radio, billboards, digital, banners, mobile, native advertising, telemarketing, and pop ups. It’s on everything that isn’t implanted into us….and that may be not that far away.So what works. What is, in the buzzword of the day, authentic, effective and creates real Return on Investment? One of the most powerful tools of the marketer has always been word of mouth. Social media and things like Yelp, have only amplified that power. But is word of mouth marketing just some random confluence of events, or can it be shaped, molded and directed in ways that are both authentic, and beneficial to both seller and buyer? This has been the work that Ted Wright talks about in Fizz: Harness the Power of Word of Mouth Marketing to Drive Brand GrowthMy conversation with Ted Wright:
