Many people on the Internet have shared all kinds of strange exploits of their friends with "love brain". The emergence of "love brain" shows that most people don't know what love is, nor do they know how to get along with their partners. Therefore, many people regard self-compromise and sacrifice as things that must be done in a relationship. Eventually people stop maintaining boundaries. According to statistics, women account for a higher proportion of people with love brain.

In this episode, I'm going to be talking about 5 signs you may be working out for the wrong reasons. I'll share a little bit of my story and how I used to work out for these EXACT reasons.  I get it, when it comes to working out we all have our reasons or goals…BUT are they helping or hurting you? The way I used to look at was hurting me believe it or not….EVEN when I was standing up in front of that class leading the exercises.  I often ask my clients what their goals are and why they work out and the answers are all pretty much the same.  “To be healthier”  “To tone up”  “To Lose weight”  “ To feel better in my skin”  If you've ever had a chat with me you know I have you dive deeper on those answers to find out the REAL reason behind working out.  While there is nothing wrong with those answers, it makes sense to examine your reasons for wanting to create change. What's your true motivation? Does it come from a place of lack — or is your desire to push yourself coming from a place of self-care/love/discovery? The difference is huge. Let's chat more about that along with the 5 signs you may be working out for the wrong reasons…Shall we?  ************************************************** Join our new VIRTUAL/LIVE Workout Membership http://bit.ly/3FvqkwU   Let's connect:   Book a FREE Weight Loss Breakthrough call @http://bit.ly/2E48dOh   Join Our FREE FB Support Group @https://www.facebook.com/groups/574339769435340   *************************** FREE STUFF!!    Get your FREE copy of the 7 Secrets the Diet Industry is Hiding From You @ https://bit.ly/2ZXn6QF     Get your FREE copy of The Metabolism Cheat Sheet @https://bit.ly/3if0tgO   **************************   FOLLOW ME:   Be sure to subscribe to my Podcast on iTunes @ Create Your Balance    Follow Me on Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/melanie.sobocinski   Check out my website @ https://www.melaniesobo.com/    See behind the scenes on Instagram @ https://www.instagram.com/melanie2875/?hl=en    Check out my Pins @  https://www.pinterest.com/MSobocinskiFit/pins/  ***************************************

The new moon? The New Year? Monday?   Reasons to fail are many:   Reason to succeed are there too, but we often refuse to see them   The bigger question is this: why do we choose to fail? Lazy Easy Fear of failure - as in real failure Fear of success I don't really want to do it   The big reason: Change=losing a piece of yourself   As we sit in a very significant week: Tactical's first year   I got to thinking about all the excuses we make to delay starting - yet starting is often the only thing we need to do to succeed - as in start every day. Without fail. And when you do fail, start again. And again. And again.   This is the time of year when LFTN starts discussing the word of the year.   Episode with the word of the year   So questions come up:  Are you done with this year's word of goals?    If yes, why not start early on next year? What is stopping you? What are you waiting for? You can do so much in the next 4 or 5 weeks.   If no, what do you need to do to focus on the most important things so that you DO finish your goals.   We often fail at new years resolutions precisely because we make a bigger deal out of the timing, rather than succeeding at the goal.   Back to T - We will be having a delicious steak meal on Thursday to celebrate one year of sobriety. And that celebration is a good thing.   But he didnt succeed by saying “Monday I will start”, or “Screw it, Christmas is around the corner, I will quit after that.”   He did it through making the hard decision every day, multiple times a day. He did it through addressing core underlying stressors. He did it by grieving a part of himself that will no longer be in his life - a part he sort of liked, I suspect.   And he started the last day of November when he realized NOW I will really make this improvement.   What about you? Are you ready to make your move? To Lose that weight? To cut those cigarettes? To add that side hustle? To plant that garden? To organize that house?    To let go of whatever you hang onto as part of your personality that keeps you delaying the start? To embrace that change is good - and also sometimes sad?   What are you waiting for? Today is your day.   Membership Plug   Weekly Newsletter   Make it a great week!   Song:   GUYS! You've been conditioned.  Endurance athletes say things like, I have a hard time believing I'm eating too little to lose weight.  In fact, they are the ones at greatest risk for losing lean muscle. Menopausal athletes or exercise enthusiasts, even more so.  But it's normal to have a response like that. Endurance runners have long had eating disorders, or dysfunctional feelings around eating. The desire to be lighter, thinner to be faster is strong.  If you have low energy availability, you'll risk: Thyroid function disruption Endocrine disruption Muscle loss Workout performance (therefor results) suffers Negative Mitochondria and muscle and muscle protein synthesis effects Low Energy Availability causes: Too low overall calories Too low protein Too low carbohydrates Too low fat Any combination of these Culprits: Dieting intentionally Fasting without conscious refueling and intentional goals  Keto continuously  lifestyle dietary choices (inadequate EAA in plant-sources) Protein needs To Maintain: Ideal body weight in lbs = grams of protein Your Maintain weight daily Protein need: To Lose weight: X 10-15% more Your weight loss daily protein need: (see handout link below for a worksheet to do calculations) **Regardless of overall need, it needs to be consumed at a specific dose. 30 grams of protein minimum – no more than 50-60 grams for best ability to synthesis. Carbohydrate needs Light activity days/Recovery/short interval days 1.4 gm carb/pounds bodyweight Your calculation: 1.4 x ___________ = ______________ 60-120 minutes of endurance exercise 1.8grams x body weight pounds Your calculation: 1.8 x _______________ = ______________ More endurance training – increased the carbohydrate need 2-2.7gm per pounds (this is also where you're no longer going to find you make weight loss possible, but you're working toward performance and preventing muscle wasting that will happen. Fat Servings per meal is an easier way to adjust and consider 5 servings a day, is 1-2 at each meal. Most foods with protein contain fat or meal prep or condiments contain fat. Low fat and higher carbs (high activity days) Higher fat and low carb (lower activity days) When both fat and carbs are high, we have issues. Even with “healthy resistant starches” this is true. Examples: I do a 20-minute HI interval training session and that's my exercise– that's a light day for carb But still higher than most women are trying to go (100 grams is as low as I would recommend for an active woman and never would I go that low for an athlete) Based on 130 lbs 1.4 x body weight = 182 grams of carbs The same 20-minute HIIT interval session before a strength training session (40-minute session). Now, that boosts my need for carbohydrates, not just protein. So, I am back to at least 1.8g/body weight in pounds of carbs on these days. 1.8 x body weight = 234 Timing of recovery meals is important too. You want to eat by bookending your workouts with adequate fuel. Pre workout and post workout both matter. During recovery if you are HIGHLY active woman: The ratio of protein: carbs post workout is ideally 1: 3 or 4 if you're endurance training and need recovery quickly for that next workout. If you're not that active and simply exercising at minimum, you are a little less concerned about that. If you're exercising intentionally 5-6 days a week for an hour (or more) you are “an athlete.” So, for more active women with a threshold of 30 grams of protein at each meal you want 90 to 120 grams of carbs in that meal as well. What does that look like? Carb counts of some high quality carb choices: 1 cup cooked oatmeal 27 grams 1 cup of frozen berries? 21 grams Medium apple 25 grams 1 medium sweet potato 27 grams Banana 27 grams 1 cup Chili 23.5 carbs 1 cup butternut squash soup 23 1 slice of pumpkin pie 46 grams If you don't repair & replenish your protein & carb stores during the window (0-2 hours with sweet spot at 60-90 minutes) you'll be more tired the next day, find next workouts harder – though less effective, dead legs, etc). Sample meals during one day and carb count: Smoothie with half a banana and 1 cup of blueberries         34.5 1.5 cups of chili and an apple                                                 60.25 Sweet potato and berries  for dinner                                     38.0                                                                                                 132.75 Falls short of even the lowest need for carbohydrates (182gm) for a 130 lb woman. If you're increasing training levels, eating during activity will help. (Long bike rides, long hikes) That isn't accounted for in the example. What's your Energy Availability? Fat Free Mass = your muscle weight only Example: 130 lbs, 54 lbs of muscle mass Dietary energy intake (kcal) – Exercise energy expenditure (kcal) divided by Fat Free Mass (kg) For Example (2000 calories is easy math- just as example) 2000 kcals/day – and expend 250 kcals in 30-minute HIIT divided by 24.5 kg (54 lbs divided by 2.2) Please note:  in the actual podcast and on the cheat sheet there is a (major) error) Apologies for the oversight!  ***CORRECTION to original post: 54 DIVIDED by 2.2 = kgs = 71 is my Energy Availability (EA) gms/kg body weight Your Calculation: Kcals in a day: ___________  - Exercise energy Expended (use a tracker or online estimate) Lean Muscle mass kg _______ (lbs x 2.2) = ________________ gms/kg bodyweight What's true:

Bringing strategy, foreign policy, domestic and imperial politics together, this book challenges the conventional understanding as to why the British Empire, at perhaps the height of its power, lost control of its American colonies. Critiquing the traditional emphasis on the value of alliance during the Seven Years' War, and the consequences of British isolation during the War of American Independence, Professor of History Emeritus Jeremy Black, the most prolific historian writing in the Anglophone world to-day, shows that this rests on a misleading understanding of the relationship between policy and strategy. Encompassing both the Seven Years' War and the American War of Independence and grounded in archival research, this book considers a violent and contentious period which was crucial to the making of Second British Empire and its role in the wider world. THE HIGH CALL OF GOD Philippians 3:13 … I press toward the goal for the prize of the high call of God in Christ Jesus. The High Call of God is actually translated as the Upward Call of God. The word for high is ano which means upward or above, or Heavenly. The word in the original Greek for ‘Call’ is klesis which means an invitation. That means that a Heavenly invitation is coming from above, from God, and our response to that invitation, our RSVP, is directed upward, back to God. This Heavenly Invitation is not a status or rank that makes some people get a ‘High’ calling and some people get a ‘low’ calling. God does not send out low invitations, he only issues a heavenly invitation, to get to know him, personally and intimately, through Jesus. Paul’s writes about his response to a personal invitation from God towards himself, to know him personally and intimately. (1Corinthians 1:31 – the glory trophy of knowing God – Jer 9.4)Philippians 3:8-10 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowing Christ Jesus my Lord … that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection. So a heavenly call is not some future invitation for one day after we die that we accept our invitation to finally go to heaven. The heavenly invitation is for us to live a heavenly life on earth right now. `This is for everybody. This is our response to life itself. The only ‘low’ invitation comes from the devil who wants us to stay pinned down in a response to a lower invitation of struggling in the shadows of our own strength. Why take the low road when you can take the high road and see life from a higher and deeper perspective of faith. But who gets this heavenly invitation? The answer is clear in the Scriptures.2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some suppose, but is longsuffering toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should receive repentance.Longsuffering is the process of withholding judgment by patiently giving someone the time and the many opportunities to get a change of mind (repentance) and receive and respond to the message (and the invitation)That word perish is apollymi in Greek which is translated 22 times in the New Testament as ‘TO LOSE’. The Holy Spirit grieves the loss and waste of such an invitation. Paul encourages us in this when he writes the letter to the Romans and says;Romans 2:4 Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and longsuffering, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?God doesn’t want a planet full of ‘losers’. An Old Testament illustration of the ministry of the ‘high call’ is found in Ezekiel. This is the story of the role of priests in the Old Testament, and only Levites could be invited into the Old Testament priesthood. A priest was a go-between between God and man. This is still the case, except that now, through Jesus all of us are invited into the priesthood of all believers (1Peter 2:5). Some of the Levites in the story in Ezekiel took the low road and were careless in their response to this privilege, going after idols and setting a bad example to the people, and finally God had to let them be the losers because of their choice. So God let them go their own way and stuck with the Zadok clan of priests who chose the high road. Ezekiel 44.15 "But the Levitical priests who descend from Zadok, who faithfully took care of my Sanctuary when everyone else went off and left me, are going to come into my presence and serve me. They are going to carry out the priestly work of offering the devoted (heleb - the best part for dedication) sacrifices of worship - the Decree of God, the Master. They're the only ones permitted to enter my Sanctuary. They're the only ones to approach my table and serve me, accompanying me in my work." When they enter the gate complex of the inside courtyard, they are to dress in linen. No woolens are to be worn ... They're to wear a linen headpiece and linen underclothes… nothing that makes them sweat. When they go out into the outside courtyard where the people gather, they must first change out of the clothes they have been serving in, leaving them in the sacred rooms where they change into their everyday clothes…23. "Their job is to teach my people the difference between what is holy and what is unholy, to show them how to discern between the godly and the ungodly way to do things." When there's a difference of opinion, these priests will arbitrate. They'll decide on the basis of my judgments, laws, and statutes. You might wonder about the choice of a linen headpiece instead of wool. The natural reason given here is that wool causes sweat. There’s also a spiritual reason why God went to so much trouble in the detail of things like this. There are many things in the Old Testament that hide a message for us in the New Testament. The Bible says that fine linen represents the righteousness of people who believe God and want to live close to him (Revelation 19). Righteousness means having our heart in alignment with God. This linen headpiece speaks to us of having our mind upon God, and having a mind of peace and order, and not causing sweat or anxious striving. When they go out to meet the people they change their religious clothes and wear everyday clothes– so they identify with the people. They have been in the presence of God and so they are able to carry this presence and impart it in the way they speak and act amongst the people. That is the work of a priest, to bring God into peoples hearts. We are told we are a spiritual priesthood and we can do the same as these priests in a New Covenant way, and bring God into peoples hearts with simplicity and grace instead of religious performance. These priests were given God’s wisdom in their counsel of people who asked for help and advice and prayer. The final verse says ‘these priests will arbitrate. They will decide on the basis of my judgments, laws, and statutes’. For us that means being able to hear what The Holy Spirit is saying to different people in different situations. That is how the Holy Spirit arbitrates (not legislates) and applies God’s word personally and individually because he knows peoples’ hearts. Paul said that his ministry was not of the letter but of the Spirit because the letter kills but the Spirit gives life. The Holy Spirit does not apply the letter of God’s word and put peoples’ under the law, but he brings the ministry of the Spirit and revelation of God’s word into the here and now of peoples’ lives. This was a type of the priestly ministry of Jesus as he spent time with his Father so that he would have his Father’s heart and mind on what to say to the people. This is now our priestly ministry, This is the heavenly calling available to all of us if we care to respond to God’s invitation. We are here to issue this invitation to anyone with ears to hear it. Th world generally has not had ears to hear this because it has been hearing other invitations to a more self gratifying and enticing message for itself. It is only when God gets the worlds’ attention that it might have ears to hear.So how much more do those who bear the message need to have ears to hear God at this time in an anxious, confused and despairing world. The Zadok priests put God first and spent precious time with God each day before they got involved with the affairs of the people. As the Scripture from Ezekiel said They are going to carry out the priestly work of offering the devoted (heleb – oil, wine, grain, fat) sacrifices of worship - the Decree of God, the Master. They're the only ones permitted to enter my Sanctuary. They're the only ones to approach my table and serve me, accompanying me in my work. Devotion is relational not transactional. People can pray fervently to get God to meet their personal needs and that is fine, but devotional is a kind of prayer that gives the best part to God – to God’s personal invitation of partnership with himself (accompanying me in my work). How long would these Zadok priests spend in God’s presence? All that we know is that it was a set time, but the effect stayed with them. However long we set to be with God will result in the effect of that staying with us (not a direct correlation), and what do we think and reflect upon in that time? a) His love and mercy and devotion to us (this is where the highest comes to the lowest (Isaiah 57:15). b) His supernatural work of goodwill towards us and on our behalf towards others. (prayer always happening Rom8:25) We know that God gave those priests a life to live, a fruitful life, a busy life, but they wanted to give the first part, the best part to God, so that they could really live, as they would get his heart for the lives of the people in their world where he had placed them.If there is a best, why not give yourself to that.

Leslie Browning is an award-winning author of twelve books. In her writing, she explores the confluence of the natural landscape and the interior landscape. In 2010, she debuted with a three-title contemplative poetry series. These three books went on to garner several accolades including a total of 3 pushcart-prize nominations, the Nautilus Gold Medal for Poetry, and Foreword Reviews’ Book of the Year Award. She has freelanced for several publications and has a biannual interview column in The Wayfarer Magazine in which she has interviewed dozens of notable creative figures such as Academy Award-Nominated filmmaker Tomm Moore, Peabody-winning host of On Being Krista Tippett and celebrated poet David Whyte. Balancing her passion for writing with her love of learning, Browning is a graduate of the University of London, a Fellow with the International League of Conservation Writers and sits on the Board of the Independent Book Publishers Association. In 2011, she opened Homebound Publications. She is currently working to complete an l.b.a. in Creative Writing at Harvard University’s Extension School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Leslie is joining us today to discuss her new book, To Lose the Madness: Field Notes on Trauma, Loss and Radical Authenticity. Unlike other books in her library, she wrote it with absolutely no intention of sharing it with others. This book, more than any other she has written, is meant aa conversation starter around a topic that’s important to her and society as a whole. Thus, even as a notoriously private person―she’s sharing the story of her most difficult moments with the world. In this week's episode I discuss miscarriage with Leslie and how her experience impacted both her mental health and her writing. We discuss stigma, coming out, and how the world needs more stories like hers to be told.

My guest is L.M. Browning. In her career-defining work, To Lose the Madness: Field Notes on Trauma, Loss and Radical Authenticity (https://www.amazon.com/Lose-Madness-Trauma-Radical-Authenticity/dp/1947003909), Browning explores the breaking point every mind has after finding her own limit during a gauntlet of traumatic events.Pulled out of this blast-crater moment in her life by a friend, she is brought away from the insanity and deep into the snowy Sangre de Cristo Mountains where, standing in front of a herd of wild buffalo, she comes face to face with the terms we all must come to surrounding the loss we face in this life. Offering no answers and seeking no pity, Browning lays herself bare in this radically authentic offering. She carries restricted subjects such as miscarriage, mental illness, and suicide out of the silence by offering her own private journey as an example of the power of transcendence. Special Guest: L.M. Browning.

Leslie Browning is a poet, publisher, novelist, and soon to be memoirist with the publication of her newest book, To Lose the Madness - Field Notes on Trauma, Loss and Radical Authenticity. Leslie is also a grieving mother, who miscarried twins in 2015. This loss served as a cracking open point, leading to months of struggle into and through childhood traumas, physical health crises, and mental illness. To Lose the Madness is a personal offering and a practice in radical authenticity - a willingness to speak out about what so often goes underground, and secreted away.     To learn more about Leslie and her work, visit her website.

Lords and Ladies, A little trigger warning for a few of you: this mix is a little more relaxed than my normal puttogethers. For those of you who aren't in the know, I'm currently attending a Master Brewer Course in Chicago/Germany for the next 6 months. As such, I've been doing a lot of goddamn reading. So instead of putting on the latest 'Narcotic Wasteland' or 'Dead by April' new metal releases, I'm opting to stick to my fairly calmer study tunes. If I suffer, y'all are gonna suffer, too! I'll leave you with a little beer trivia: What does B-amylase produce in mashing? The answer: maltose! Thanks for listening, A.B   Mix 14: Study Music (For A Film) CHVRCHES - Bela Lugosi's Dead (Bauhaus Cover) (0:00 - 3:47) Soft Lighting - Unborn (3:48 - 8:34) Embrz - Slow Down (8:35 - 13:07) Mansionair - Hold Me Down (feat.
