In this Inspiration Loves Company episode, we welcome actor, lawyer and leadership consultant Pam Sherman to share her wisdom on playing you -- your leadership role of a lifetime. Too often, we think we have to act differently than who we really are to project leadership. During this episode, Pam shares how we can rid ourselves of those false ideas that rock our confidence and instead, learn how to impact our audiences with our presence. By drilling down on the tools that actors use, we can inspire our audiences to both follow our leadership and better themselves.
I've been reminiscing about my love of 90s era step classes lately. Step workouts were just so much fun and I could just check out and forget my worries and feel great after the workout. It turns out that my guest, Pam Sherman, used to be a step aerobics instructor! Friends, we bonded over step classes. More than that, though, Pam has been in the health and fitness world for 26 years as a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, food coach, and more. Her tagline is “your health is your wealth” and it's so true. We talk about women's health and the necessity of movement.Women tend towards being all or nothing about our health: we either do nothing or start doing everything at once and can't maintain it. We often think we need to be in shape to start working out. The truth, according to Pam, is that focusing our health is what matters. We need to love ourselves to health and stop hating ourselves to get to skinny. Pam and I talk about finding movement that we can love so we're happy doing it, about envisioning the health we want in 20 years, the value of sleep, and the encouragement that can be found in joining classes. Pam supports women because it is our right to feel good in our bodies. She wants us to realize we deserve our health and that the work we put into it is valuable. I felt very invigorated talking to Pam and my hope is that you will too. And maybe you'll even want to try a step workout!About Pam Sherman:Pam has been in the health/fitness world for 26 years as a group X instructor, personal trainer, food coach and more! She's passionate about helping women lose weight and feel great. Her no- nonsense approach to health and wellness goes back to the basics. Pam has been a fitness professional for 25 years as an instructor, coach and trainer. She's AFAA certified in group exercise and personal training. She is passionate about helping women make exercise a priority (especially strength training) and eating for their goals and longevity. Helping women realize that taking care of themselves is not selfish, it's self-care as well as putting their needs first/on their calendar is so important to Pam. Her tagline is Your Health is Your Wealth! Jessica started in the fitness industry about 10 years ago as a fitness instructor and personal trainer. Soon after, she realized that helping people reach their health goals was a lot more than just how much you move your body, but also about what you eat, how you sleep and how you manage your stress levels. This motivated her to get a nutrition, hormone specialist and gut health specialist certification so she could help people tackle their health issues from a foundational perspective. Jessica's firm belief is that health optimization is not only found just by changing things in your lifestyle but also by your mindset and realizing that health is a continuous journey of educating yourself. In part two of this round table talk we answer our listeners and followers question on weight loss , hormones and fitness. Do hormones such as the estrogen patch and oral progesterone need to be taken forever? I'm 51 and post menopausal. What is the best exercise regimen to follow as you enter the menopause phase of life, while starting hormone therapy and trying to lose weight - at the same time? My diet is under control for the most part. Should you heal the gut first or balance hormones. How do you feel about testosterone replacement during peri and post menopause when free to is non existent. Plus what are some natural ways to help boost testosterone before replacement? How can you tell when your body is metabolically recovered from over dieting? Also, how can you tell if you are clearing inflammation from exercise (i.e., what markers can/should indicate recovery besides fatigue or muscle soreness)? Best approaches when you have hypothyroidism and possibly adrenal issues. How do you assess when to start bioidentical estrogen? What issues contribute to chronic pain? What do you do when you take the recommendations from your naturopath (et al), take the recommended supplements, eat clean, exercise regularly and you can't lose the weight? So frustrated! Do flowering plant essential oils provide the same benefits as BHRT? (such as bone and cardiovascular health, breast and brain protection?) Can essential oils and BHRT be used together? Is it okay to combine estrogen and testosterone together in a compounded cream? Do hormones such as the estrogen patch and oral progesterone need to be taken forever? I'm 51 and post menopausal. This is your host, Dr. Tomi Mitchell. I had the pleasure of interviewing Pam Sherman.BiographyPam is a lifelong fitness enthusiast! She was a group exercise instructor and personal trainer for over 20 years. At 54 she is in the best shape of her life. Five years ago she got hit by a car. Because she was in such excellent condition, she only had minor injuries. Pam's mission is to help as many women as possible take better care of themselves and their health. Her tagline is - Your health is your wealth!Key Takeaways:There is no quick fix to long-term health. It's never too late to start taking care of yourself and your health. It doesn't take an hour in the gym or the latest diet. It's consistent day in and day out with how you eat and move your body. Make your health your #1 priority and everything else will get better!Contact Information:Websitehttps://www.theperfectbalance.guru/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/direct/t/340282366841710300949128233265621692937FaceBookhttps://www.facebook.com/perfectbalanceguruBooks Written:https://www.amazon.com/s?k=pam+sherman+books&crid=1MFPDU0NM0US9&sprefix=pam+sherman%2Caps%2C259&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_3_11
In this weeks episode, I sit down with a fellow coach to chat about what it means to live a heathy lifestyle and how it's never too late to get started on your health journey! More about Pam... "I've loved fitness my whole life! I started running at 11(my dad was a stud runner and went with him to a track and ran 2 miles - best feeling ever!), ran X-country/track in high school, and was very middle of the pack. I went to THE Ohio State University and not at that level to compete, so then my highschool friends and I started running the Columbus Marathon every year. After college I moved to CA and my roommate was a group X instructor. She saw how much I loved taking her classes and told me about a course at the local jr. college- how to become an instructor. It was the best thing I ever did(except ask my husband out). Then a few months later I got PT certified. Teaching and training was the perfect job for me as I was born with motivation dripping out of my pores! I never wanted to work ft raising kids and teaching/training let me be a mom and still do what I love to do. I also trained women for half marathons and marathons. I was born to be an instructor. Currently I'm on the FitRadio app as a cardio/strength coach as well as the TerraCore app as their active aging trainer. I want to spread the word of health and wellness to as many women as possible. I (and I'm sure you do too) see too many women taking care of everyone else in their lives and not themselves. There is nothing more important than our health. I want people to know they need to start now, not after vacation, or the weekend or the holidays! Yes, I am super passionate about self care=health care!" Nutrition Questions? Pam Sherman (known by her friends and family as Positive Pam) was a fitness instructor and trainer for 20 years, while also raising her two kids who are now 23 and 20 years old. Exercise has always been important to her, running from age 11 because her dad was a recreational runner and she thought it'd be fun to join him. It served as a huge stress reliever from a home that was filled with trauma. Four years ago Pam went out for a run as normal, and her life took a turn that could never have been foreseen. For some people, what happened to Pam might have led to the end of a career in health and fitness. However Pam believes that the accident happened “for her, not to her”. She says “My life is exponentially better because of that experience”. Pam focused on what she COULD do… and not what she could not. Pam is the perfect advocate for the saying “You cannot control what happens to you, but you can control your response or how you react to what happens to you”. Pam's tagline is “Your Health is your Wealth”… and she truly knows how REAL and TRUE that is. Check out Pam's website here Pam's youtube channel here And you can check out her 7 books out on Amazon.
