What's the Zero Moment of Truth?I just finished reading “Youtility” by Jay Baer, and among other great nuggets he talks about the Zero Moment of Truth, which Google defines as “The ZMOT refers to the moment in the buying process when the consumer researches a product prior to purchase.” Are you there for their ZMOT? How many potential customers are you losing, before you even knew they were in the market for what you do?Listen to this new 9-minute episode for more information and clarity on the Zero Moment of Truth… and on Youtility. If you have any questions about anything in this, or any of my podcasts, or have a suggestion for a topic or guest, please reach out directly to me at Alan@WeddingBusinessSolutions.com or visit my website Podcast.AlanBerg.comPlease be sure to subscribe to this podcast and leave a review (thanks, it really does make a difference). In Customer Experience, Speed Equals Caring Shep Hyken interviews Jay Baer, customer experience and marketing expert. He shares his findings from his new study, The Time to Win, and insights on how speed impacts customer experience and revenue. Top Takeaways: · Time is the only inelastic resource. Time is the only thing everyone shares equally, regardless of who they are. We all have 1440 minutes a day, and there's nothing we can do to get more. · If you are slower than your customers expect and anticipate, they will feel like you are stealing time from them. And if you are faster than your customers expect and anticipate, they feel like you have given them the gift of time. · The concept of “The Right Now” means the optimal amount of elapsed time in every customer interaction throughout the entire journey. "The Right Now" is slightly faster than customers expect. · Jay Baer shares some important customer experience findings from his research, The Time to Win: o There is a correlation between responsiveness and revenue. Two-thirds of customers say that speed is as important as the price. Customers are willing to pay more if it's faster. o Customers would pay up to 50% more if they never had to wait. For example, customers pay more for Disney's Fast Pass/ Lightning Lane to skip the line at Disneyland. o 53% of American consumers have chosen a business that responded to them first, even if they were not the least expensive. o Gen Z is the most patient generation. Baby Boomers are the least patient generation. · Plus, Jay shares strategies to create better speed for our customers. Tune in! Quotes: “Speed is the most important component of customer experience and the only one that never pauses or goes backward. Customers' expectations for speed and responsiveness escalate every year without fail.” About: Jay Baer is a customer experience and marketing expert. If there was a more mature, funnier, well-informed small business marketing lover than me, then it's Jay Baer. The guy has an uncanny ability to turn even the most sceptical business owner into a marketing tragic. I've been stalking, I mean following Jay's work for over ten years, and every book (he's written six), every research study he's commissioned, every new concept he comes up with to help us small business owners grow, never fails to disappoint. It's an exciting episode 615 of The (13 year-old, award-winning) Small Business Big Marketing podcast with host Tim Reid. A little more about small business marketing expert Jay Baer … OK, so if I asked Jay Baer to introduce himself, here's what he'd say: “The world's most inspirational customer experience, customer service, and marketing keynote speaker. New York Times best-selling author of six books. A 7th-generation entrepreneur. The founder of five, multi-million dollar companies. Certified tequila sommelier. And, lover of all things plaid!” I agree with all of the above, plus here's my own two bobs worth. You see, Jay is a marketing hero of mine who I've been following for over ten years. He first appeared way back in episode 296 where he spoke about his then new book Hug Your Haters. What I really like about Jay is that he has an engaging way of identifying and uncovering the fun side of marketing that always produces results for those who action his teachings. Jay's second book Youtility is in my top 3 marketing books of all time. In terms of achievements, it's an impressive roll call. He's: One of less than 200 living members of the Professional Speakers Hall of Fame An inductee into the Word of Mouth Marketing Hall of Fame An advisor to more than 700 companies since 1994, including Caterpillar, Nike, The United Nations and 36 of the FORTUNE 500 I encourage you to get your journal out for this one, as we cover so much marketing gold it verges on embarrassing! Many of us operate by the book. By following what others are doing, we often think that we can also reproduce their success. But if everyone is doing the same things, success becomes stagnant and far from reach. A law firm is just like any other business — tried and tested methods work, but you don't have to rely on them all the way. Break away from the blueprint; take the road less travelled and carve your path. It will be scary, and it will be challenging. But it will open the doors to your success. In this episode, immigration lawyer Jacob Sapochnick joins us to share his journey in starting and running a law firm. The guiding principle that helped him find success is to do what others are not doing. He shares helpful advice in managing employees, building teams, fostering leads, and systemizing the business process. Jacob also shares the reason why you should start giving away resources for free. This episode is for you if you want to know the best practices to implement to run your law firm or business the enchanting way! Here are three reasons why you should listen to the full episode: Find out why steering away from the herd opens doors to winning opportunities. Learn how you can apply the three principles of the enchanting way to your law firm or business. Discover the benefits of giving away resources for free. Resources Enchanting Lawyer Podcast My American Job by Jacob Sapochnick Visa Lawyer Blog Jacob's YouTube Channel InfusionSoft SweetProcess Youtility by Jay Baer Nice Companies Finish First by Peter Shankman The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuk Social Media Marketing World Enchanting Lawyer Podcast Episode 50: Leadership, Excellence and Giving with Dr. William Dorfman Choose Yourself! by James Altucher Episode Highlights Starting His Law Firm If there's no tool or information about something you need, you have to make or do it. He started his law firm in 2004. He did it because he wasn't happy with his job, and he wanted to do something on his own. Attorneys fall into the same patterns when starting a practice and marketing, making it difficult to find success. Jacob realized that he shouldn't follow the herd when it comes to his law firm. Starting a Legal Blog He started one of the first legal blogs in California, called the Visa Lawyer Blog. Three to four months after starting the blog, he got a call from Fox News. They needed an immigration expert for the evening news. Doing things differently created an opportunity for him to be in the media, including newspapers and other TV stations. Shifting to Other Platforms When blogging became common for attorneys, Jacob decided to do something different. He started posting videos on YouTube in 2010. He also realized that no attorney was using Facebook, so he started using it. Within a year, he was able to build a proprietary community on Facebook with over 117,000 members. You will not have to compete with anybody if you build your audience. Jacob's law firm gets four to five leads a day from Facebook alone. Nurturing Leads and Employees Once you figure out how to get leads, you have to provide the level of service they deserve. When employees are happy, they're able to provide good service to the customers. How you treat employees matters more than how much money you pay them. When you are nice to your employees, they are nice to the customers. Jacob started a freedom policy. If somebody can't make it to work for whatever reason, they have to make it up once they already can. Giving employees validation gives them ownership of the law firm where they work. Three Principles of the Enchanting Way Generate leads: You have to provide free, valuable, and consistent content. Systemize: Set up a system to direct leads throughout different channels. Empower employees to make decisions: This will lead to improved retention levels, and clients will feel more comfortable doing transactions with them. Listen to the full episode to learn more about the importance of empowering employees and avoiding being a policeman at your law firm or business! Navigating the Biggest Challenges The key is learning how to deal with people. If you can't assess the personality of the employee you're working with, you won't connect level-to-level. When interviewing people for a position at his law firm, Jacob asks uncommon questions to connect with the applicant. Systemization is key. Jacob learned that you have to immediately change a process when it doesn't work. Jacob's law firm uses SweetProcess to document and share their processes with the team. Jacob's Book Recommendations Youtility by Jay Baer talks about marketing as a utility to help people as opposed to pushing sales. Tune in to the episode to discover the apps Jacob created, following the principles of Youtility! Nice Companies Finish First by Peter Shankman is about customer service. The Thank You Economy by Gary Vaynerchuk changed the way Jacob deals with his business. Building a Team Listen to your team members and implement their ideas. When you do, they feel that they can trust you. You have to build trust; empowerment cannot happen until there's trust. Then, you can start assigning team leaders and do trial projects that the team can take on. Instead of preaching, give control during meetings by delegating people. Tune in to the episode to discover what team culture looks like in Jacob's law firm! Jacob's Winning Habits The most critical things for Jacob are to listen, be patient, and be nice. Being nice to his employees helped create an alliance between them. Having these traits have helped him face a lot of failures, focus, and guide other attorneys. The Best Advice He Has Gotten Do what others are not doing; do the opposite of what people in your field are doing. Don't reinvent the wheel; copy the best things others are doing and put your unique spin on it. Why You Should Give Away Resources for Free You can overwhelm the public by providing so much value. Then they subconsciously perceive you as an expert. Jacob puts articles, videos, podcasts, and other resources because he wants to help people. People can find information online today whether you give it to them or not. Tune in to the episode to learn about Jacob's new experiment around referring competitor law firms! Jacob believes that you're providing more value for yourself by giving away resources because people will come to you anyway. Life Lessons Learned Jacob learned not to dwell over failures. Choose Yourself! by James Altucher says that nothing else will work around you if you don't choose yourself. The book recommends writing down ten ideas every day as a way of training your brain. Jacob's coffee shop concept came from applying this practice. 2 Powerful Quotes “You really have to find a way that the employees feel that you care about them, because then once they feel that, then they will go out there and do the same to your customers.” “What you do is you overwhelm the public by providing so much value, that they perceive you as an expert in their subconscious, where there's no other way anybody can convince them not to hire you.” About Jacob Jacob Sapochnick is an immigration lawyer and savvy marketer who enjoys combining law, technology, and social media to educate people. As an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Jacob had spoken several times on immigration law topics at various national and international conferences. He has been quoted in popular publications and has done several interviews on immigration issues. Jacob is also the host of the Enchanting Lawyer Podcast and produces the Enchanting Lawyer Blog. Search Engine Results Pages (SERP) are the pages displayed by various search engines when a user searches for a particular word or phrase. When creating content as part of your inbound marketing strategy, you’ll want to employ various Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques to have your page rank higher in search engine results. You can use SERP rankings to measure the effectiveness of your content and SEO techniques. In this episode, Harris and Shawn discuss how founders and marketers can use SERP as an important metric to measure the performance of content against particular keywords. They begin by talking about the need to understand a product’s niche and audience before moving into various SEO and SERP tips and tools. One Powerful Quotation: * 30:10 – Shawn: “You employ all of your good SEO techniques to make [your content] rank more highly, and then you use SERP to measure how well your page [performs in search results].” Key Topics: * 1:00 – Harris and Shawn talk about life events and various work projects. Shawn mentions that he’s working on a collaboration project with @Odd_Jayy (https://twitter.com/Odd_Jayy) and @glowascii (https://twitter.com/glowascii). * 4:20 - Shawn gives tips on how to find time to read books. * 9:00 - Shawn gives a definition for Search Engine Results Pages (SERP) and why it offers a better metric than Search Engine Optimization (SEO). * 11:45 - Harris asks about good versus bad (trickery) SEO. * 14:00 - Shawn defines SERP, which is an indication of where your site shows up in search engine results when a user searches for particular keywords * 16:15 - Harris talks about Google’s new shopping tab * 17:15 - Harris and Shawn talk about how product search engines within a site (e.g. Amazon’s search) differs from broader search engines, like Google. * 19:00 - Shawn mentions a recent development where people are receiving random packages containing seeds. It turns out that this is a part of a scam to boost Amazon reviews for vendors (https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2020/08/04/free-amazon-orders-scam-mysterious-seeds-packages-brushing/5580858002/). * 21:08 - Harris and Shawn give their perspectives on running traditional outbound marketing techniques, such as running Google or Facebook ads. * 23:52 - Shawn recounts his experiences creating content for SparkFun and how successful it was at driving pageviews. * 25:40 - Shawn talks about creating content to maximize SERP number. Namely, “evergreen” content that continues to draw users for years after posting offers some of the best SERP value. * 29:53 - Shawn describes how SEO can be used to boost SERP. * 30:30 - Harris and Shawn give reasons for why they’re using Binho, LLC (https://binho.io/) as an example of how to create evergreen content for a niche audience. * 31:01 - Shawn describes the importance of patience with inbound marketing. * 33:20 - Harris talks about reusing and distributing content. * 34:27 - Shawn talks about why voice and video should (probably) not be your primary content for inbound marketing (at this point in time). Most search engines still prioritize written content, so written content should be your focus. * 39:03 - Harris introduces his new project: Intro CRM (https://introcrm.com/). * 41:11 - Shawn helps Harris brainstorm ideas for evergreen content that could be created to drive traffic to his new service. * 49:58 - Shawn mentions that Neil Patel’s Ubersuggest tool (https://neilpatel.com/ubersuggest/) can be very helpful for discovering keywords, creating article titles, and analyzing people’s search patterns. * 51:29 - Shawn introduces the concept of pillar content (https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/what-is-a-pillar-page), which is a collection of related articles that link to each other and all pages link back to a single, important piece of content. * 56:22 - Harris asks what would be good content if your audience doesn’t know the right words or jargon to use (i.e. they don’t know what a “host adapter” or “CRM” is). * 1:02:23 - Shawn talks about setting your expectations when competing with content from large companies. * 1:03:05 - Harris stresses the importance of having a good, differentiated product to start with. * 1:06:52 - Harris and Shawn talk about how to market products that may not have all the features you hoped for on launch. * 1:09:21 - Shawn recommends the book The Innovator’s Dilemma (https://www.amazon.com/Innovators-Dilemma-Revolutionary-Change-Business/dp/0062060244) to learn about how to create products that serve a niche well. * 1:11:11 - Shawn talks about the importance of needing to market your product while you’re developing it and recommends the book Content, Inc. (https://www.amazon.com/Content-Inc-Entrepreneurs-Successful-Businesses/dp/125958965X) to assist in this journey. * 1:13:50 - Shawn talks about his experiences creating pillar content and measuring SERP. He recommends the tool Serposcope (https://serposcope.serphacker.com/en/) to automatically report the SERP rankings of your site versus various keywords on a daily basis. * 1:17:34 - Harris asks Shawn about the tools he uses to measure SEO and SERP. Shawn lists Neil Patel’s SEO Analyzer (https://neilpatel.com/seo-analyzer/) and Rank Math SEO for WordPress (https://rankmath.com/) in addition to the previously mentioned tools. * 1:19:29 - Harris talks about his poor experience working with an outsourced SEO firm. * 1:20:26 - Harris and Shawn talk about the skills required to create good content and why building trust is so important. * 1:22:02 - Harris and Shawn talk about how to create content that’s relevant to your audience. Shawn recommends the book Youtility (https://www.amazon.com/Youtility-Smart-Marketing-about-Help/dp/1591846668) for learning how to create valuable, relevant content. Wow! Talk about turning marketing on its head!! Jay Baer doesn’t believe in a secret sauce, but boy he sure has one... Jay preaches Youtility. Youtility is the simple, easy, practical, but oh-so-rare philosophy of giving away what you know, for free, one bite at a time. Why would anyone want to do that?? Because, especially now, it’s the professional who is the most helpful who will eventually win the business. And he has lots of examples to prove it. And lots of ideas about how you can do it. Shawn briefly mentions the latest book he’s reading, “Talking to Strangers” by Malcolm Gladwell. * 5:50: Shawn and Harris discuss an overview on content marketing and understanding the difference between inbound and outbound marketing. Harris mentions how businesses should assess their position in the market and determine the necessary steps to learn about their audience. * 13:00: Shawn inquires with Harris about the suggested expense for marketing. Harris says that, although it depends, he recommends that a realistic business should only spend what is available considering production costs. He also adds that consistent presence in industry events and free PR stunts can alleviate the costs. * 19:02: Staying on the same topic, Harris asks Shawn if business owners should be responsible for creating and promoting inbound marketing. Shawn agrees with this but isn’t opposed to outsourcing a partner to truly represent your brand in discovering the right audience. * 22:00: Shawn and Harris delve deeper into finding your audience segment and offer their perspectives for the important questions to answer such as identifying your audience and maximizing content channel delivery. They also note the common pitfalls some business owners may have with their marketing strategy. * 39:44: Shawn recommends the book Youtility by Jay Baer for its outlook of, “If you sell something, you make a customer today; if you help someone, you make a customer for life.” It summarizes why outbound market is failing and how authentically helping others will build you a loyal following. * 42:13: Shawn asks Harris his success using HubSpot as a customer relationship platform. * 48:50: Shawn and Harris sign off with their final overview thoughts on content marketing. “Competency retains customers; talk triggers acquire new ones...” Jay Baer is the founder of Convince and Convert and if you work in Marketing you’ve most likely seen him at a conference or read his blog and you probably own more than one of his books, such as the best-selling Youtility, Hug Your Haters and most recently Talk Triggers. You can catch Jay in person at Relevance '19, 360insights' channel-focused marketing conference, happening in September 2019 in Toronto.
When I say Twitter changed both my personal and business life I mean it and it continues to be a gateway for life-changing moments for me. I remember where I was when I got followed by @GaryVee on Twitter, I remember the moment Vala Afshar reached out and asked if I wanted to jump on a phone call and I remember being invited to a dinner by Jay Baer at a social media event because in his words “he wanted to get to know me more and say thank you for the support of his content.” As a proud pager-wearing millennial keynote speaker I get the pleasure of debunking myths and translating “millennial habits” for brands shifting the perspective around generational labeling and in some cases, explaining that the stereotypes aren’t wrong. But one of the millennial habits that I love to highlight and drive attention to is the fact that most millennials want to feel a part of something and are open about their desire to be mentored and celebrate those they look up too. In this same notion, millennials also are shifting what they consider a great leader as they believe it’s no longer just about your experience and knowledge rather your ability to educate those around you with that knowledge and experience. The other aspect of this millennial lead shift is thanks to social media the distance between those we lookup to and those we consider our mentors has been shrunk to being as little as 280 characters away or in this case a Facebook suggestion to follow @FindTroy Paying it Forward Thanks To Social Media Isn’t A Yearly Initiative Rather A Daily Focus! For me reading two books Jay Baer’s YouTility and Gary Vaynerchuk’s Jab Jab Jab Right Hook transformed my philosophy around social media helping me adopt my mantra of #ShowUcare. #ShowUCare was my community and content strategy from giving my content away for free, engaging and caring about every person that engages with me no matter their follower count and probably most importantly going out of my to show I cared about others before I ever wanted them to care about me or what I do. This is something that hit home recently for me after reading Seth Godin’s email newsletter where he simply stated: “Remarkable work is usually accomplished by people who have non-typical priorities” -Seth Godin So as my iSocialFanz brand awareness has increased and I’ve been able to grow an amazing engaged community I’ve made it my mission to not only continue to #ShowUcare but also find ways to give others that feeling and memory I had when GaryVee, Vala Afshar and Jay Baer took the time to show me they cared. So what does all this have to do with millennials and a facebook friend request…… Well, you’ll have to listen to the episode but I can promise you that what went down after I sent a friend request to Troy Sandidge will be something I never forget and I believe will have a lasting impact on both of us for years to come. Please enjoy this podcast episode where I interview my newest Facebook Friend Troy Sandidge who just happened to make me speechless with his post after accepting my friend request. And that was just the start as he did it again after jumping on the podcast and sharing his story of optimism, resiliency and genuine hard work. The man has had 3 brain surgeries, was only 2lbs at birth and lost his mother as a teenager yet his outlook on life can best be described as “calm, positive and thankful.” I challenge you after listening to this episode to think about Troy’s battles before complaining about your bad luck and rather than spending time making excuses use that time to #ShowUcare about others in your community and your life as you never know the impact that will have or the places it could lead you, including being a guest on your favorite podcast. When McKenzie and I started Shine Insurance I had very little knowledge of how to run a business and even less about how to sell something. I had been a teacher for 13 years. People brought their kids to my classroom and if I boomed, the immediate consequences were limited. I also knew that people don’t particularly like insurance and insurance agents, maybe next to used car guys, are the basic definition of slimy sales people. We knew we where setting out to change that perception to literally change the way people feel about insurance, but besides just being ourselves, we didn’t really know how. So we did what so many new business owners do, we asked around about good resources for starting a business. Fortunately, we came across two particular resources that would define our trajectory. The first was an online course by Marie Forleo called B-school. This course, directed at female business owners was chalk full of good advice from brand strategies, to launching a product, and beyond. The second was a book called Youtility by Jay Baer. This book laid out a basic premise: First you define your ideal client. Then you figure out ways to do good things for them. Things that are useful and helpful in their lives. Those things do not have to be connected with the product you sell at all. They simply have to help the people you envision being able to help someday. That book solved a conflict inside myself. I loved helping people and, as a teacher, helping kids grow was my primary purpose. I knew that leaving teaching and starting a business was the right choice but the whole insurance thing was kind of a struggle, was I really going to meaningfully help people? Jay gave me permission to add another layer and simply think of how I could help period. This podcast is actually a result of Jay’s book. It is an attempt to help entrepreneurs big and small. To offer one conversation a week where you hear another business owner like yourself tell their story and connect with a greater community of business owners in a meaningful way. “Word of mouth influences 50% of all purchases yet no one has a strategy for it.” Ask any business what drives the most leads and sales and the answer is almost universally — word of mouth. Yet, as Jay Baer notes, we leave it largely to chance. That's why he and Daniel Lemin co-authored Talk Triggers, a new book to provide a reliable system system for word of mouth. We discussed all of this and more this week with both of these authors on the On Brand podcast. Enjoy! About Jay Baer & Daniel Lemin Jay Baer is the founder of Convince & Convert, a strategy consultancy that helps the world's most interesting brands gain and keep more customers. He's a seventh-generation entrepreneur; has started five multimillion dollar companies; and is the author of six books including Youtility and Hug Your Haters. He is a keynote speaker and emcee, an angel investor, and an inductee in the Word of Mouth Marketing Association Hall of Fame and the National Speakers Association's CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame. Daniel Lemin is the cofounder of Selectivor, a food intelligence platform that helps people stay healthy through personalized eating. A former communications leader at Google, he is the author of the online reputation guide Manipurated. He has been featured by The New York Times, USA Today, CBS Radio, and Fox News, and speaks at conferences and events worldwide. Episode Highlights Word of mouth matters. How much? I'm glad you asked. Jay and Daniel have created a helpful infographic that breaks this down. Check it out! “A manual for giving your customers a story to tell.” That's what Jay and Daniel set out to create with Talk Triggers. Where do you begin? “Let's start with the worst way. Get everyone in a room and brainstorming. You need to document your customer journey. You need to include new, longtime, and lost customers.” Jay went on to note that you have to look for the story in places people don't expect. From DoubleTree and their famous cookies to “Dr. Snip.” Jay and Daniel shared several examples from business of all shapes and sizes across industry including a Seattle-based vasectomy surgeon who gives away a unique — and very talkable — gift to his patients. What the difference between an alpaca and a llama? What would you call a business designed to ship custom butter sculptures? You'll have to listen to the full show for the answers to these questions! However, Daniel did provide you with some teaser content in meme form! What brand has made Jay and Daniel smile recently? Daniel told us a story of a brand that made him smile by solving a negative word-of-mouth problem while Jay shared why the Tesla buying experience brought a smile to his face. Social media is here and it’s not going away, so maybe you should start using it the relationship building way. In this episode we hear from Kirsten Jensen, founder of Next Action Digital, as she breaks down social connection. Jay Baer, digital marketing expert, online customer service expert, and author of several NYT bestselling books, including Youtility and Hug Your Haters, joins me on this episode.

Links:https://www.sitorsquat.com/https://www.charmin.com/http://www.tracto.com.br/resumo/youtility/

Welcome to episode #507 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Mirum Podcast. Here it is: Six Pixels Of Separation - The Mirum Podcast - Episode #507 - Host: Mitch Joel. It's always a pleasure to welcome Jay Baer back to the show. We don't always agree, but we both do love marketing in this modern age. Jay is back with a brand new book called, Hug Your Haters. The book is being described as a modern day approach to customer service. Jay says that customer service is the new marketing (a point we debate on this episode). Jay's last business book was Youtility. And, as if that weren't enough, he turned his blog, Convince And Convert into a major publishing platform that features multiple voices along with ton of fascinating podcasts and more. His first book, The Now Revolution (which he co-wrote with Amber Naslund), also broke ground when it was first released. Enjoy the conversation... Running time: 52:53. Hello from beautiful Montreal. You’d expect a guy who’s started five multi-million dollar businesses from scratch to know a thing about marketing that works. And then, of course, he’d write the book on it. In this case, the guy is Jay Baer, and the book is Youtility, a guide so useful for effective marketing it’s becoming a franchise unto... Listen to episode
Welcome to episode #405 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. Jay Baer is back and he's doing what most people in Social Media are not doing: making big and smart moves (and good money, as well I am sure). He took his last business book, Youtility, a sound it off to create, Youtility For Accountants (with more industry-specific versions to come). And, as if that weren't enough, he also recently launched, Social Pros All-Stars, which is an ebook, Slideshare presentation and trading cards of social media brand professionals. Very smart and strategic marketing (which industry pro wouldn't keep their own trading card front and center on their desk, making Jay and his team top of mind?). If you have yet to fall in love with his blog, Convince And Convert, or his first book, The Now Revolution (which he co-wrote with Amber Naslund) or his podcast, Social Pros, you don't know what you're missing. Welcome to episode #367 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. Really thrilled to have my friend, Jay Baer, back on the podcast. He recently published another business book, Youtilty, and true to Baer standards it is one hundred percent "hype free." Proof in the pudding? The book is currently riding its third week on the New York Time's bestseller list. More pudding? Youtility isn't just a smart book, it's a fun read. Baer holds no punches in his writing. If you have yet to fall in love with his blog, Convince And Convert, or his first book, The Now Revolution (which he co-wrote with Amber Naslund) or his podcast, Social Pros, you don't know what you're missing. He is a frequent guest on this podcast and I am honored to have him back to discuss a topic that is both near and dear to my heart as well (a full chapter and more on utility-driven marketing is featured in my latest business book, CTRL ALT Delete). Welcome to episode #361 of Six Pixels Of Separation - The Twist Image Podcast. Brands are pushing hard on social media. All too often, they will complain that social media doesn't work or Facebook advertising doesn't work. In short, they're missing the point. Social media is not a catch-all for marketing and advertising that will cure what ails the aching brand. Nobody knows this better than the founder and CEO of Monetate, David Brussin. Monetate is an amazing marketing optimization platform that has taken the e-commerce world by storm. I've been friends with Brussin since the early days of the company. They've been releasing their EQ Report (E-commrce Quarterly) for some time. The latest edition was recently published and, along with Jay Baer (Convince And Convert and the author of the soon-to-be-published book, Youtility), I was asked to editorialize on the data. In short, social media does not drive to sales... but it kinda does. Confused? Don't be. Take a listen and enjoy the conversation between Brussin, Baer and me...
