Dr. Samuel Jamier was adopted as a 4-year-old from Korea by a strick Catholic family in the Brittany region of France. Growing up, he was an altar boy and into heavy metal music, but later developed an enormous passion for films. Today he's a skilled fundraiser, speaker, arts programmer, and serving as the president of the New York Asian Film Festival, which has become North America's leading festival of popular Asian cinema, and one of the top, most anticipated and critically acclaimed events in New York City. An energy-filled event designed to bring new perspectives, experiences, ways of thinking and seeing that provoke thought, bring wonder, and new visions to their audience. It presents the roughest, sharpest, and smoothest of today's cutting-edge Asian film scene to sold out audiences each summer.
A Classical Christmas Chord follows classical musician Lena Chord as she is forced to work with her high school flame turned pop star, Zack Sellers, to revive her music company and his troubling bad-boy reputation. Their mutual animosity and attraction guides them to realize their goals. Cast: Featuring Nhi Do and Ian Ronningen. A triple-threat performer, Nhi has worked on a variety of projects such as: Zack Snyder's Watchmen; the Canadian Screen Award-nominated and Leo Award-winning web series, NarcoLeap; and as the title lead in Shaftesbury's Upstairs Amy. On stage, Nhi was a lead in the Jessie Richardson award-nominated Canadian premiere of "Heathers: The Musical." Recent projects include: Hope and Grace (nominated for Best Actress at the Asian Film Festival, Los Angeles, Hollywood); APTN Lumi's Querencia; and the punk-rock film noir, Door Mouse. Escuchar audio

We then jump into interviews with some of our favorite festival attendees and their takeaways from the weekend, actor and producer (and fellow Texan) Shawn Parikh (Outsourced, The Mindy Project), and the lovely Priyanka Bose (Lion, Nirbhaya The Play). Shawn shares his journey as a Texas boy from Plano to an L.A. producer, writer and actor. We get a sneak peak of his new project and the lowdown on Mindy Kaling. Yes, she's as cool as you think she is. Priyanka talks openly about how real life events led her to the phenomenal role she played in Nirbhaya The Play, her struggle growing up in Delhi wanting to be an actress and how she finally found her place amongst the madness of Bollywood. Don't mind the club music in the background and the clinking of glasses, we were all in celebration mode!

Join Hong Kong-based curator, researcher, teacher, writer and critic Sam Ho as he explores the history of Hong Kong cinema, outlining the historical, cultural and economic factors that coalesced into an exceptional aesthetics enjoyed and celebrated all over the world. Hong Kong has a unique cinematic history. A tiny city and never a sovereign state, it managed to fashion a film industry comparable to any national cinema, with a long and rich history and a distinctive aesthetics all its own. At once very Chinese and very westernized, Hong Kong’s highly eventful and sometimes traumatic past converges on film to generate a glorious cinema, inspiring films of intensely dramatic stories and grippingly compelling characters. Sam Ho is a curator, researcher, teacher, writer and critic. Based in Hong Kong and the United States, Ho specializes in the study of Hong Kong cinema but had also written extensively and curated programs on various aspects of cinema, including films from China, the United States, Europe and other parts of Asia. His work had been translated into many different languages, including Chinese, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese and Korean. Ho has given many lectures on films across the globe, and has served as juror, media panelist or advisor for many international film festivals and award organizations, including the Pacific Meridian International Film Festival in Vladivostok, Russia; the Asian Film Festival in Vesoul, France; the Hong Kong International Film Festival; the Hong Kong Film Awards; the Best Chinese Films of the Year Award, Beijing, China; and the China Times Express Bests Films of the Year Awards, Taiwan.
