Yes, it's been a long time since we did this....about two months. Well, now you finally get to hear about all the ciders we drank for the first annual Carpe Ciderbowl. We took a trip to Shangy's: The Beer Authority in Emmaus, PA and bought a bunch of ciders we had never had before, then we split them into teams and went head to head. Which were victorious and who was the winner, Pumpkin or Peach. Well, strap in and listen. Featuring ciders from Angry Orchard, Ciderboys, Aval, Castellum Cider, 1911 Established, Newtopia, Austin Eastciders, JK Farmhouse, and Sociable Cider Werks. Thanks for listening! Tuesday, January 25, 2022 - Happy National Irish Coffee Day! I've got a little Irish in mine! Brought to you by The Real Voice - Mel Allen. Providing voice over for commercials, podcasts, explainer videos, eLearning, telephone systems, and more. Samples and demos at https://therealvoice.com Let's tap some cheap beers. Every state has its favorite bargain beer and the folks at Eat This, Not That! put one together and I can find no fault with Vermont's cheap beer - Natural Light. I recall too many times buying it by the case with friends and roommates because none of us could afford nice things. Thankfully my beer budget and tastes have advanced, but I look fondly back on those days with beer that had nearly no flavor, or ABV for that matter. Find out your state's choice (can't say preferred choice for every state though) at the link. Oh, and just to make good on a promise to a friend of the show - I recently had Coors Banquet for the first time - in a bottle, and I'm not upset that I did, and would have it again. https://www.eatthis.com/most-popular-cheap-beer-every-state/ Your next whiskey might have ingredients that are a bit more local than in the past. Great Western Malting has launched two unique malted barley products - American Distillers High-Enzyme Malt and American Distillers Non-GN Malt. They were created or is that crafted, specifically for the distilling industry. Great Western Malting states that they maintain a close relationship with farmers in the Northwest US - specifically Idaho and Washington state. They are also happy to provide distillers with access to a domestic supply and production - which they state provides security in supply. After so many supply chain issues - I'll definitely say this is a chain no one wants pinched! https://brewpublic.com/distilling/great-western-malting-launches-new-american-distillers-malts/ Light Cider seems to be working well - Citizen cider, Shacksbury, and Austin Eastciders have committed to it. Austin Eastciders, however, has launched 4 light cider flavors with real fruit, 100 calories, and 4.2% ABV. The flavors are Mango Mimosa, Cucumber Agave, Strawberry Lemonade, and Texas Brut. Texas Brut is a kind of “all-arounder” that they say you can use in place of champagne, even in cocktails and mixed drinks that call for the bubbly. Austin Eastciders, however, does still hold on to their higher ABV ciders like their 8% Imperial line-up. https://darik.news/texas/austin-eastsiders-launches-light-cider-line/202201482198.html Next Time: I've been making plans for the special editions I call “Another Round” stay tuned for details on when this starts coming out! Last week, John handled things on his own with a motivational solo episode. What does that mean for this week? Well, there's a lot of CATCHING UP to do!This Week, Denison shares the details on his surprise trip to Austin, one of America's weirdest cities. The Hard Cider-lovers we are, Denison dives into his cider-tasting at the city's famous Austin Eastciders, one of the many highlights of the trip! It's a tale of two weeks, as John shares his battle against a strong stomach virus, a biopsy, and burnout, with bigger and brighter things for both on the horizon.THE TOPICS: FIRST, We discuss the state of the Olympic Games. Just days before the Opening Ceremony, there's still widespread concern over the safety of athletes and fans amid a pandemic. We discuss the safety precautions Japan is taking, including banning all tourists from attending the games - something sure to be a huge economic loss for a Country that's invested so much. We also compare this to the postponed Euro 2020, going on right now. What's working for that event, and why is there much less concern for it compared to The Olympics? We also discuss the bizarre things  being done by Games organizers to keep competitors safe, including (but not limited to) banning condoms.NEXT, the banning of Dallas track star Sha'Carri Richardson from the Olympic Games. She had just claimed her title as the fastest woman in America, running the 100-meter dash in 10.64 seconds. The 21-year-old had the opportunity to stake her claim as fastest in the world on the global stage in Tokyo. But, she tested positive for marijuana just a month before the Opening Ceremony, causing the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency to ban her from this year's competition. Richardson says she smoked after the death of her Mom as a way to cope. The action by officials has drawn strong reaction from both sides, and may soon influence the way the USADA polices marijuana use in the future (taking a page out of the book of UFC). But will it spark change on a global level? There's a lot to get into!JOIN THE DISCUSSION!Follow us:FacebookInstagramYouTubeOfficial WebsiteEmail us: TheCatchupCast@Gmail.comSupport the show (https://www.nosignalrocks.com/the-catchup-podcast/)

Narwhal Bloodbath is a Metalcore band From Bradford PA. Devin and Jesse wanted to start a band in 2016, later we found Mark and Chris and Narwhal Bloodbath was born. The entire project was centered around the idea of putting fun back into metal. We didn't want to take ourselves too seriously, or be just another depressing heavy band, so we started writing songs about pastafarianism, Black beard, Gengis Khan, and other ridiculous topics. Thematic and fun is and always will be our mantra. Narwhal Bloodbath is exclusively fueled by 4Loko, Bad decisions, Fistful Of Bourbon Whiskey, Tullamore dew Irish whiskey, and whatever other drugs our scumbag bass player Chris can get his Grubby little mitts on. Also, Chris loves Yeungling, and as far as beer goes, Jesse will drink Blue Moon but we're a whiskey band mostly. Austin Eastcider is helping to make Austin Texas a cider mecca in a land where the apple root faces harsh growing conditions. Aaron Anderson is the R&D Coordinator at this growing cidery. He sat down for a chat with me at CiderCon2016 in Portland Oregon during the United States Association of Cider Makers conference. The head cidermaker is Preston Nickens.   Austin Eastcider opened in 2011 and is distributed in cans and draft throughout Texas and into Oklahoma, New York and New Jersey. The cider is selling so fast that come June of 2016 they will be moving into a much larger production facility. Austin Eastciders ciders available Texas Honey Cider, with wild flower honey sourced from Texas 5% Original Dry Cider 5% An English cider called Gold Top was produced but at that point Texas cider drinkers weren't ready for a bittersharp/sweet cider. That cider is still being produced, but is barrel aging. There is also a hopped cider made with Falcon hops. The juice from the cider is sourced from the UK, France, Italy, and the Pacific Northwest. It is easy to taste the bittersharp and bittersweet apples in each can that I tried. I was quite pleased that the cider was so balanced and refreshing. The cidery did well with the branding for a Texas Cider and meeting a mass market demand without going overboard sweet with the final product. This is the episode we never thought would happen. Episode 101. We're still going! And to celebrate, Max Olson brought us beers from Austin/Texas/the local Hy-Vee. And, in the spirit of celebrating, we drank them. In this episode, we talk about football. But not for too long. Then we transitioned into big brother (he's listening). Max has 20,000+ unread emails. And he has a plan to make $1 million. And did you catch Max on Last Chance U? He was the star. Plus beers from Pinthouse, Shiner, and Austin Eastciders. Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/three-beers-later/donationsWant to advertise on this podcast?
