When near the nation's capital, Richardson Farms is a must stop for many. This family owned and operated farm in White Marsh, Maryland is well known for its fantastic produce and amazing meals in their market. The foundation of the business remains several hundred acres of vegetables, and Redox Bio-Nutrients is a big part of their quality harvests. “Awesome track record,” said Brian Richardson, who manages their farm with his two uncles. “Our tomatoes and our melons – the dry fertilizer that we broadcast underneath the plastic culture has been reduced by 40 to 50 percent. I feed all of that with Redox products, and we've never had better results and better fruit than what we're getting now.”This fifth-generation grower said growing premium quality is mandatory for their success.“In the vegetable and produce industry, quality sits at the top of the list above anything else,” he said.Richardson Farms started in 1930. In this conversation, David and Naomi talk with Dr Brian Richardson, a communications expert at the University of North Texas, who has conducted research on whistleblowers and the impact on their families. Brian explains that his interest in this subject began when he observed the negative response faced by a college basketball player who blew the whistle on his coach's abusive behaviour. This led him to question why individuals who speak the truth and raise concerns are often punished instead of celebrated. Brian's research focuses on the communication dynamics within families of whistleblowers and how they cope with the challenges they face. He highlights the importance of communal coping and negotiating how much conversation should be dedicated to the issue. Brian also discusses the use of metaphors by whistleblowers to describe their experiences and the need for families to maintain connections with outside support systems. He emphasizes the traumatic impact whistleblowing can have on families and the importance of providing resources and support for them. Dr. Richardson is still interviewing whistleblowers and family members. If you are able to participate his email address is. brian.richardson@unt.edu Dr. Brian Richardson earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001, where he then joined the faculty in Communication Studies at the University of North Texas. Specializing his research in organizational whistleblowing, crisis/disaster communication, and sport communication, Dr. Richardson was promoted to Associate Professor in 2008 and then recently to the level of Full Professor. His research has been published in prominent venues including Management Communication Quarterly, Human Communication Research, International Journal of Business Communication, Communication and Sport, and the Journal of Applied Communication Research. Dr. Richardson's whistleblowing research has examined whistleblowers in the collegiate sport industry, within K-12 educational contexts, and how whistleblowing impacts families. He has also led Study Abroad programs in Peru, Nicaragua, and Panama, and most recently, he won awards for Excellence in Graduate Teaching (2022) and for Excellence in Mentoring via the Ulys and Vera Knight Faculty Mentor Award (2023). He has conducted communication training for a variety of organizations including the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs – Houston office, Texas Association of Fire Chiefs, UNT System, UNT Health Science Center, Texas Association of County Auditors, and the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services.

The importance of creating skills-based organizations is no longer a theoretical discussion: it's now a practical reality. “So a lot of times they feel like they have to pack this thing with so much dense information. I'm like, dude, you have 30 minutes and you have three of those to hook somebody and you still need to leave a little bit for Q&A. You still need to leave a little bit for engagement. So if you're not going to answer everybody's question about something highly technical in the span of a podcast or the span of a technical talk, the span of an explainer video, you always have to get them to that act. They need to take a step and learn more. And that's where then you get a next level of engagement. You have a more detailed conversation. You have a one-on-one with somebody.” -- Brian Richardson This episode's the second half of my conversation with technical communicator, Dragon Con host, and Play It With Moxie drummer, Brian Richardson as he shares his advice on effective communication, some of the most memorable actors he's worked with at Dragon Con, and the surprisingly rustic direction his life's taken thanks to a move to Oregon and his new YouTube channel. As always, if you have questions for my guest, you're welcome to reach out through the links in the show notes. If you have questions for me, visit audiobrandingpodcast.com where you'll find a lot of ways to get in touch. And if you're getting some value from listening, the best ways to show your support are to share this podcast with a friend and leave an honest review. Both those things really help – and I'd love to feature your review on future podcasts. You can leave one either in written or in voice format from the podcast's main page. I would so appreciate that. Knowing When to SpeakAs the second half of our discussion kicks off, Brian tells us more about the advice he gives technical professionals for connecting with their audience, such as gauging how fast you talk and making sure you're engaging with the listeners. “Some of it is voice and some of it is language options,” he adds. “There's also a third element depending on the audience, which is when to speak. So when we get into a lot of it, it's basically word choice.” He shares his stories from Dragon Con, including some surprisingly introverted actors that he's helped along the way. “Actors are not always outgoing people,” he says. “Some actors are actually introverts. And some of those folks really love the panel environment. They feed off of it. And then they will go back in their little cocoon at the end of the hour.” Fandom is FandomWe talk more about Dragon Con, his experiences with the casts of shows like Firefly, The Expanse, and Strange New Worlds, and how he works with guests so they know he's on their side. “‘Is there anything we shouldn't talk about?'” he quotes his list of pre-show questions. “'Should I deflect from the audience?' And that's your safety zone, right? Now you understand that I'm not just going to feed you to the wolves because fandom is great. But fandom is also sometimes fandom." He also explains how his skills as a moderator have also proven useful when it comes to helping technical experts bridge the knowledge gap with clients. “This idiot in a colorful shirt,” Brian says, poking fun at his own role as the panel host, “said ‘I'm sorry, we have to go.' So I'm, I'm essentially a buffer, a valve between...
“And I carried that into engineering in college and was going to go into computers, but then kind of got into robotics. But through all of that, I was still doing college radio. And again, that was like backdoor access to, ‘Hey, can I use the studio in the off hours? Can my band record our CD here in the summer when the stations technically shut down?' And then that got me into, well, I'm on-air talent now, which in college radio is, as Strongbad used to say, I can describe college radio in five words: dead air, um, dead air.” -- Brian Richardson This episode's guest is an engineer turned technical communicator who's currently working as the Security Initiative Lead for Intel's Data Center & AI Marketing team. He also produces DIY videos from his farm in Oregon, hosts events and panels for Dragon Con, one of the world's largest pop-culture conventions, and is one of the co-founders of their in-house video team, commonly known as DragonConTV – and he certainly has some interesting stories to share about that. But I know him best as the drummer and emcee of the band Play It With Moxie that we've been performing in together for over 18 years at a small music convention in Atlanta. His name is Brian Richardson and not only is he a very funny guy, he's also extremely knowledgeable when it comes to helping techies share complicated ideas. His answer? Infomercials! I'll let him explain. As always, if you have questions for my guest, you're welcome to reach out through the links in the show notes. If you have questions for me, visit audiobrandingpodcast.com where you'll find a lot of ways to get in touch. Both those things really help – and I'd love to feature your review on future podcasts. You can leave one either in written or in voice format from the podcast's main page. I would so appreciate that. Dead Air, Um, Dead AirWe start off the episode with Brian's early memory of sounds, from taking apart an AM radio to the first time he heard a lightsaber. “I vividly remember seeing Star Wars at the age of five in the theater,” he recalls. “And I don't remember like the entire plot of the movie, but I remember it moving me and there's a whole element of sound design in that like the lightsaber noise.” He tells us about how his fascination with sound and audio engineering led to band, then AV club, and then his first radio gig. “And then that got me into, well, ‘I'm on air talent now,'” he says, “which in college radio, as Strongbad used to say, I can describe college radio in five words, dead air, dead air.” The Human-to-Nerd InterfaceBrian and I talk more about his early years at Dragon Con, and how he helped create what's become known as DragonConTV. “Once we got the whole DragonConTV operation up and running,” he says, “that's a whole different story. But I ended up in this parallel track of like becoming sort of the, the human-to-nerd interface, whether it was on the technical side of things, or whether it was on the actual, like stereotypical nerd side of things.” Being the human-to-nerd interface, as he puts it, taught him about the subtleties of communication, and he realized that it's an often-neglected...

Learn how to improve your IT infrastructure and protect your organization from cyber threats with this powerful solution. To learn more about how Intel solves enterprise security challenges, I had a conversation with Brian Richardson, who is the Security Marketing Lead for Intel Data Center & AI (DCAI) Marketing Product Strategy. The key takeaways of the conversation are as follows: • The main challenges that enterprises face in securing their infrastructure are the increasing number of cyberattacks, increasing regulation, and increased security spending. The traditional software approach to cyber security is no longer enough to stop attacks, which are becoming increasingly more sophisticated. • Confidential computing is a newer approach to protect data when it is in use, not just at rest or in transit, which is being focused on by Intel and the industry. • The fourth-generation Intel Scalable Processor addresses enterprise security needs by using technology, such as Intel SGX or Software Guard Extensions, to protect data in use. Greetings Listeners! The play on words strikes again! This is a really great episode! It's a collaboration with my cousin, Brian (BRich) Richardson, who is a recruiter, entrepreneur, husband, father, farmer, bird watcher, deep thinker and spiritual fellow! This episode packs a wallop! It covers everything from Kombucha, essential oils, bird watching, growing food, Jeeps, homesteading, and my favorite topic: people! Enjoy and be prepared for intellectual stimulation as we make our way out to deep waters. I know we said we wouldn't, but we ultimately did! Brian signed up for a 30 minute voyage, but he has the gift of gab and I knew he couldn't put a pin on it in 30! Haha! As the Black Lives Matter protests erupt around the world, I sat down with Brian Richardson, a criminal barrister and anti-racist activist. Now a leading figure in Stand Up to Racism, he has worked for the Anti Nazi League and has been involved in the campaign for justice for the Grenfell community.. As a barrister, Brian has only ever done defence - standing up for some of the poorest and most marginalised individuals in society. He is with Nexus chambers with Michael Mansfield, a titan of social justice campaigns in the UK. Brian has authored books including “Say It Loud: Marxism and the Fight Against Racism”; “Tell It Like It Is: How Our Schools Fail Black Children”; and “Bob Marley: Roots, Reggae and Revolution”. Brian is my partner, and there has never been a better time to interview him. The death of George Floyd has not just prompted global protests - it has also sparked conversations about racism in workplaces, on social media - and closer to home. We sat down to discuss questions such as what is racism? Where does racism come from? What is white privilege? Can white people be anti-racist allies? Is there racism the criminal justice system? And should we remove racist statues? As with every episode of Future Heist - resources and action points for activists. Follow Brian on Twitter @Richardson67B. In a new type of episode called "Everyone Wants To Be In The Bat-Jar", we take a look at a topic to decide if it should be considered part of the broad spectrum of nerd and geek culture. This week, Average Joe and special guest Shaggy Neo take a look at the American Ninja Warrior franchise. How does this reality show about athletes running through obstacle courses fit into nerd and geek culture? Could it be it's Japanese origins, performers using codenames, or connections to popular media franchises? It's not unusual when people think of Non Player Characters (NPCs), they think of a generic character like a merchant with a script of a few repeated lines in a video game. But in LARP, while an NPC merchant needs to sell their wares, they may choose who to sell it to, what price, or even entertain a bargain because they are STILL a character. For this podcast, Kai and Ryan speak with Brian Richardson, Director of the LARP "Last Frontier," Noxweiler Berf and Fabienne Miskelly, who both serve as Story Advocates for the LARP "Twin Mask." We talk about the use of NPCs by LARP storytellers, how playing an NPC allows some players to try different things they aren't able to do as a PC, and their favorite NPCs and NPC moments. Noxweiler Ignatius Berf was raised by wolves in the far reaches of the wild lands beyond The Wall. Classically trained in circus arts, puppetry, make-believe, and sleight of hand, his work as an artist and general ne’er-do-well can be found in various locations around Los Angeles. He is a player advocate for Twin Mask, a plot member for Undying, and producer of the Dungeon Master stage show. You can find him on The Painters Guild on Geek and Sundry and see his work on various properties on the Project Alpha channel. He also hosts a variety of content on Twitch.tv/goblincavalcade and can be seen on Anesidora on Maze Arcana with Ryan Omega! He is the creator of Boogah Badtongue and isn’t sorry about it. Fabienne Miskelly is a player advocate at Twin Mask. She has a BFA in Performing Arts, with experience in performing, but also in technical aspects like stage combat, prop and scenic design, as well as managing theater company’s. You can find her performing in the improv show “Dungeon Master” in Los Angeles, on the Twitch Channel “Goblin Cavalcade”, and everywhere @MagicalGirlFab.Brian Richardson is the co-creator of Last Frontier, a space-western mining town LARP in Southern California, and an equipment design engineer for a major medical device manufacturer. 109: Get your business launched with VetLaunch. “Professionals have coaches. Amateurs don’t.” -Robert Kiyosaki Brian Richardson is a business coach and the founder of VetLaunched.com. As an entrepreneur and fellow veteran, he understands the processes needed to build and grow a business. His other businesses have involved financial services, a business newspaper, BBQ, and loss prevention. Working on business strategy is what gets him up in the morning! http://traffic.libsyn.com/veteranonthemove/Brain_Richardson_EP_109.mp3 Get the Jump Start Course I help veteran-owned small businesses build or tweak their value propositions and business model strategies so that you can attract, keep and profit from the right customers. Your business is far too important not to succeed. Too often I have seen great intentions, viable businesses and meaningful ideas get swallowed up by the details of business. A lack of proper resources and tools…not knowing where to turn for answers…being given vague or blanket advice can all lead to a business failure. I believe that given the proper tools, resources and support…you will be able to grow your business and live the life that you set out to create. Your passion and determination are required, but we’ll assume you already have that. Now let’s fill in the gaps. My own story has taken lots of paths, and rarely in a straight line. The military, financial services, newspaper publisher, senior services (a big fat failure), a glorified BBQ hobby and a loss prevention company (with and without partnerships)…all before starting to coach entrepreneurs like you. That might seem like an oddly diverse background…but that’s the great part! I am thankful for that diversity because all of them have had varying degrees of technology, uniqueness, difficulty and enjoyment. Get the Jump Start Course The Veteran On the Move podcast has published over 100 episodes giving listeners the opportunity to hear in-depth interviews conducted by host Joe Crane featuring the people, programs and resources to assist veterans in their transition to entrepreneurship: Marine Corps, Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard veterans, DOD, entrepreneurship, business, success, military spouse, transition, education, programs and resources. Veteran On the Move has garnered over 500,000 listens verified through Stitcher Radio, Sound Cloud, Itunes and RSS Feed Syndication making it one of the most popular Military Entrepreneur Shows on the Internet Today.

Author: Graham A.N. Wright, David Cracknell, Nick Hughes, Brian Richardson The need for a branch infrastructure and managing high volumes of low value transactions are the barriers related to serving the low-income market. While outlining the features of mobile banking, the note warns that the failure of such initiatives is often due to its inappropriateness to address the customers’ needs rather than because of technological problems. The note also highlights the reasons as to why should low income segment prefer technology—if it is secure, convenient, low cost, accessible/liquid and easy to transfer. It also compiles the barriers and challenges in using technology like availability of machine, lack of training, lack of sufficient funds with agents, illiteracy among clients, lack of willingness from suppliers and other resource constraints. It also highlights the significant role played by cash and its functionality.
