On this episode, Kat is joined by Brett Callaghan, MD – South at Rubix, one of the largest suppliers of industrial products and services. Despite Rubrix's strong people-first culture, Brett delves into the true responsibility for well-being and mental health. He also shares the one positive habit that has had the most incredible ripple effect on his marriage, relationship with his kids, as well as his work performance. KEY TAKEAWAYS Well-being and mental health awareness has come to the top of the agenda more and it's something we need to get much better at. Since covid. People realised quite quickly how fragile we are – and the world is – and everybody took the opportunity to look inward a bit more. Our business has taken a lot of learnings from that situation, and there are a lot better working practices and more consideration of people's mental health now too. The biggest negative impact in my life that I've only recognised recently, is my lack of appreciation of how sleep impacted my life. I'd stay up late to get a couple of hours of chillout time to scroll on my phone or watch TV rather than spending time with my family. I now don't allow my mobile phone to send me notifications now and I'll choose when I want to go to my phone. At 10 o'clock I settle down to go to sleep, going to sleep properly helps me with brain fog which I sometimes get and I notice I'm not myself now if I do stay up late for a couple of nights in a row. As you get more senior in an organisation you feel like you need to be seen and have the mentality that whatever needs to be done I'm going to deliver and you can certainly de-prioritise some of this stuff. I've certainly been a victim of that myself, it's subconscious, you just go that way and a couple of bits will fall off as you go and it'll continue to drift if you don't stay on top of it. BEST MOMENTS “There seems to be two types of person: those who are willing to embrace positive change and accept help and those who feel they've already got a handle on it and aren't willing to show that vulnerability.” “The people closest to you have the ability to influence you, even if you don't take it so well in the first instance.” “It's said that a habit sticks after 21 days, but in business it needs to be 12 months.” “We've seen our business in particular, but the world as well, improve so quickly in these areas, but there's such a way to go.” ABOUT THE GUEST Brett Callaghan is as experienced Operational and Commercial leader with a demonstrated history of working in the mechanical and industrial engineering industry. Skilled in Branch Operation, Negotiation, Business Relationship Management, Operations Management, and Sales. Strong sales professional striving to go the extra mile every day. LinkedIn ABOUT THE HOST Kat started her career as a teacher, before moving into Tech where she worked in different executive roles within teaching and consulting working across the globe, both in the public and private sector. Despite appearing 'successful' on the outside, she paid a heavy ‘life' price. In 2016, her whole world collapsed. The reason? The compound effect of years of unhealthy and toxic habits that destroyed her health, relationship and career. She suffered a severe breakdown and lost everything. In the middle of this she got headhunted for her first CEO role. She rebuilt herself by changing just one small habit, and built a series of positive habits which has transformed her professional and personal performance, resulting in becoming the healthiest and happiest version of herself. She is a positive habits international keynote speaker and teacher, giving talks and delivering high impact programmes to organisations across the globe. LinkedIn Instagram

Community IT CEO Johan Hammerstrom moderates a presentation from Steve Longenecker and Pat Sprehe about Community IT's approach to outsourced IT for nonprofits and how clients can benefit from our IT Business Manager model. They give tips and offer examples on maximizing the relationship with IT experts who can help you match the IT you need with your business strategy.Key TakeawaysMany nonprofits enter a relationship with outsourced IT after building up technical debt by underinvesting in their infrastructure. Once the immediate needs are met, a new MSP may or may not be able to help the nonprofit with strategy. Community IT believes in a partnership with nonprofit clients in order to address strategic needs. The IT Business Manager at Community IT has a technical background but is also versed in Business Relationship Management. ITBMs can perform many functions to provide feedback and advice on IT investments, projects, and budget issues, in addition to providing all the basic services and expertise needed for day-to-day IT management. Many factors impact the relationship of a nonprofit with an outsourced IT provider. In this podcast, Steve and Pat touch on several aspects you can pursue to help your partnership succeed, including finding an MSP with a culture of transparency, professionalism and respect. Within your nonprofit you can also develop and encourage a sense of IT ownership, an understanding of your internal culture, and a belief in the return on investment of nonprofit IT. _______________________________Start a conversation :) Register to attend a webinar in real time, and find all past transcripts at https://communityit.com/webinars/ email Carolyn at cwoodard@communityit.com tweet us @CommunityIT Thanks for listening.

After leaving the corporate world to pursue her business ventures, Wanda founded Follow Up Sales Strategies. She's an expert in helping entrepreneurs, business owners, and sales professionals increase pipelines, improve sales performance, and strengthen relationships by developing strong follow-up skills. From this episode:"When I find I'm very passionate about my work. Like, I love what we do. It's helping people grow their businesses; it's creating time and freedom for them. And it's all these things that I love. And I find that I'm really not entering a sales call; I'm entering a relationship. And when I'm thinking about it and doing a service, the fear sort of goes away because I'm coming in at a different angle."-Dr. T"You are asking the prospect questions rather than you talking, talking, and throwing everything you can do and how great you are. That's the turnout. So, there's a saying, be more interested than interesting. So be interested in the prospect. So, where are you in terms of your follow-up? What habits do you have? Where do you struggle? Where are you successful? It's whatever your product or services, so prospects will put them at ease. And listen, we like people who are interested in us that feed our ego, we all have an ego, and that person will be a lot more likable. So it's putting the focus on the prospect because truly, you want to find out how you can best help them and where they are, you know, it's called meeting them where they are, yes, and, you know, working from the same page."-Wanda Allenhttps://followupsalesstrategies.com/

Today on How We Can Heal Podcast, Lisa Danylchuk and Meghan Zipin talk about how yoga helps address stress caused by extreme events. Boston Marathon is one of the major world marathon events hosted annually. But aside from being a world event, the Boston Marathon became even more famous because of what happened in 2013. Here, Meghan shares her first-hand experience of the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing, what she struggled with in having PTSD, and what trauma-informed yoga means to people like her whose lives are penetrated by trauma. Meghan Zipin on defining PTSD After what took place during the 2013 Boston Marathon, everything seemingly changed right after for Meghan. Everything that happened before that was no more the custom in her daily life. It may have not impacted Meghan physically—but it affected her emotionally and mentally. From there on, constantly feeling jumpy became her routine. A constant hyper-vigilance and alertness perpetuated Meghan's default body state. It interrupted her sleep at night. And because of the stress that the event perpetuated into her system, Meghan found it difficult to throw herself into anything that she couldn't gauge as ‘predictable.' The disorder she experienced became a pattern. And before she knew it, Meghan was already experiencing PTSD beyond what she could fully grasp about her condition. About Meghan Zipin: Experienced Owner and emerging writer with a demonstrated history of working in the health wellness and fitness industry. Skilled in Business Planning, Market Research, Management, Healthcare, and Business Relationship Management. Sean: When you're looking for farmers or suppliers, what were the KPIs or metrics you were looking for in a supplier to maintain quality control? Jason: For us, it is always relationship-based, are you in it for the long term? Is this the right partner that we should get? Because when you talk to farmers - first of all, they are already decades in terms of trading their fruits and vegetables. So when it comes to us, we're a new entity that's coming in and they will say "who is this new trader? We're tired of them because most of the time they come and go away." So we want to have a partner who will help us grow and would also like to grow together, in terms of how we will be able to tap into the market - just having that collaborative relationship. And so our KPI is actually basically helping each other, its give and take, it should not be 'because you failed to deliver, it will be deducted to your scorecard.' So we want to make sure we know what's your pain point, you know, what's our pain point and we work together on that. Sean: Very nice. So more of relationship-driven rather than giving each other scorecards because you know for farmers it's already tough for them. Jason: Because they will also have the power to not give it to you - the products. They can say that 'I would rather throw my products than give them to you.' They really do have the power to do that. And it is really happening, you will see some trucks full of products and the farmers won't sell them, they will just let them rot because the traders are trying to buy them at a very low price. And remember that these farmers also have pride, and they don't want to sell at below cost, they'll just throw it away rather than you profiting from it. So we always make sure we have the values that are already engraved. - - - Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/leadershipstack Join our community and ask questions here: from.sean.si/discord Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/leadershipstack

Herzlich Willkommen zu dieser ersten Episode. Hier erkläre ich Dir was Business Relationship Management ist und wie das Wissen und praktisch anwendbare Tipps dein Business Leben nachhaltig zum positiven verändern können.
In this episode, Richard Pharro, CEO of APMG International, talks to the knowledgeable and ever-enthusiastic Hannah Cooper, who is a Business Relationship Manager (BRM) in the National Lottery Community Fund. She started in the beginning and was instrumental in building the role from the ground up. Shaped by her strong partner-focused style, Hannah explains to us the importance of the BRM role in ensuring Relationship Management isn't just transactional: warning us of the loss of organic conversation, and what that does to the heart of a business. Checking in with people doesn't just strengthen your relations as a manager but provides key holistic insights as to how the organization is doing. We hear her debunk the common misconception that you need to be a subject matter expert to become a BRM: even though Hannah came from a background of IT, she believes in terms of technical skills, they are not compulsory in order to do the job well. It's about knowing who you have around you, knowing how to redirect work, and knowing the context. Hannah's biggest takeaway is; don't throw solutions at people, but listen with the intention of understanding their needs and concerns: ultimately you're the one responsible for seeing where proposals fit into the strategy. Finally, we hear Hannah explain why the BRM role is key in challenging the norm on the crucial topics of today, from Data Management, Environmental, to co-benefits, for her, it's about changing the employee mindset. In keeping with this, Hannah ends by giving us her top three bits of advice to anyone starting in the role and tells us the key to having an agile, courageous, mindset is to acknowledge “that you won't and can't always know everything”.To find out more about the thing's discussed in this episode and Hannah herself, follow the links below:More information Business Relationship Management Professional Training and Certification BRM Institute Hannah Cooper LinkedIn
