Find dem ved at klikke her. Tak skal du have, Steven.
Welcome to another episode, recorded at The Extraordinary Travel Festival in Armenia two months ago. And in this one, you can meet Romaine from Jamaica, David from Taiwan, and Odette from the Philippines. They have just completed the 193 UN Nations list and were all the first in their country to do so. Romaine Welds Romaine Welds is Jamaican-born and raised, and he migrated to the US in 2007. This was, in fact, his first time flying and travelling to a foreign country. Currently, Romaine lives in San Francisco and works full-time with an American airline, which has enabled him to travel the world. As a child, Romaine loved watching National Geographic shows, where he would dream himself away to far-away places. And never in a million years did he imagine that he would one day be accomplishing the goal of having visited all the countries in the world nor becoming the first Jamaican and Caribbean to do this. His last country was Antigua & Barbuda, even though Hurricane Fiona postponed it for a few weeks. Fiona was a powerful storm that caused massive damage and disruption across the Caribbean in September 2022. She left a trail of destruction, causing widespread flooding, power outages, and infrastructure damage. And interrupted Romaine's trip to Antigua & Barbuda. By the way, if you want to hear more about Romaine's last country, I've done three episodes from there. It's episodes 130-132 in your podcast app… Find them here. David Yang Our second guest is 57-year-old, David Yang. He's from Taiwan and has worked in International Business Development in the consumer electronics, video gaming, and toys industry. He visited many countries as part of his job. He's the first Taiwanese to travel to every country in the world, but he also lives in the US. He started to work on his remaining countries around 2016 after meeting a fellow traveller who convinced him to go for them all. At the time, he had a third of the countries to go to and completed the goal in July this year. Now he's working on a new goal – to complete 300 of Travel Century Club's list, and right now, he has about 19 left. The official TCC list of countries and territories has a total of 330 as of January 2022. So, I guess that he will go for the complete list after the 300. Odette Ricasa The last “193 baby” is 77-year-old Odette Ricasa, who became the first Filipino to travel to all the countries in the world as she arrived in her last UN country, Iraq, in August 2022. She also finished visiting all seven continents back in 2015. She's an active member of the “Philippine Global Explorers” travel community, where she heads the US West Coast chapter, and also a successful artist with over one hundred paintings, a motivational speaker, a talented piano player, and an author of six travel books. Odette has been travelling a lot longer than the two gentlemen at the table. Voice message From a Listener I got a voice message from a listener, Steven Ramsey, an American who lives in Bandung, Indonesia. He tells me that he listens to The Radio Vagabond while driving around on his scooter. Thank you so much, Steven. Great to hear that I'm with you on your scooter. I hope you're not getting confused listening to an episode where I'm walking around in an area with a lot of traffic. It might make you look over your shoulder if there's the sound of a big truck or a horn in the episode. I don't want to be responsible for any accidents. So, please be safe. But it's also what I do when I'm driving around on a scooter here on Koh Lanta, Thailand, where I am right now. I just take my Bluetooth headset and stick them in my ears before putting on the helmet. I can use Google Maps to give me directions so I know where to make the right turns. Actually, I started doing this when I was in Indonesia. Not in Bandung but on Bali. And I'm sorry to say that that's the only place in Indonesia I've been to so far. I'm sure many people would say that you haven't really been to Indonesia if you've only been to Bali. It's like, I get a little bit bummed when I hear of people who have to Denmark and have only been to Copenhagen. There's so much more to see… I really want to explore more of Indonesia, and I will take you up on a visit when I do. I was curious about how an American ended up living in Bandung, Indonesia – and not in Bali like so many other American nomads I know. It's a long story that I'm going into right now. But Bandung, Indonesia, is now on my list, so I can visit him and get that story. I enjoy hearing from you guys, so if you also want to send me a voicemail, go to TheRadioVagabond.com and scroll down to the bottom. Here you'll see a little button saying, “SEND VOICE MESSAGE”. There's also my WhatsApp number, so feel free to send me a voice message with WhatsApp – as Steven did. If you prefer to write, you can also go to the contact form on TheRadioVagabond.com/contact and write me a message there. Either way, please let me know what you're doing right now as you listen to these words. Follow the 193 Babies You can follow Romaine on Instagram as @TravelingTheWorldWithRomaine, David Yang is best found on Facebook, and I've also put a link to Odette's books in the note section of your podcast listening app. Next on The Radio Vagabond On Sunday, I get to meet another one of my heroes, and this time one that I'd been following for years. Paul Barbado, aka Barbs from Geography Now. Every time I'm going to a new place, I put on the episode he has from that country, so I get a lot of background on the place I'm going. You can start looking forward to hearing my conversation with Barbs – on Christmas Day. But you'll hear from me again already in two days in our Flashback Friday episode when we go to a mosque in Dubai. And then, maybe a new diary entry about my life right now on Saturday. Yes, I started doing a new type of episode where I speak for 10 minutes about what I'm doing right now. I did the first one on Saturday. Please find it in your podcast app. My name is Palle Bo. See you.

In this episode, Steve Fretzin, Clare Fanner, and Catherine O'Connell discuss:Producing content for SEO, social media, and the desired exposure. Collaboration not competition with other lawyers.Where to invest time and get business from existing clients. What to consider before doing business internationally. Key Takeaways:Creating content is less of an issue, but how to show that content trips up a lot of lawyers. As the lawyer, you don't have to write the entire article, just jot down a few sentences and the rest can be worked out later with other sources.Collaboration opens up the way you build your business whereas competition closes off avenues.Anything worth doing is going to take some time to do. In this episode, Steve Fretzin, Clare Fanner, and Catherine O'Connell discuss:What is happening with the economy and legal industry in the UK and Japan. Why Japanese businesses are looking to invest outside of the country. How COVID helped to elevate business development and marketing for law firms. The way in which LinkedIn has changed marketing and business development. Key Takeaways:Many lawyers in the UK, like in the US, do not want to be back in the office full-time with traditional working patterns. Digital advertising is on the rise in Japan, though it is currently behind the rest of the world. Be where your clients are and advertise there. Social media has allowed lawyers to be more personable and authentic in a way that they've not been able to do before while still being able to show up and show their expertise. Post by Adam Turteltaub Ever-increasing sanctions of Russian individuals and entities are looking to be a long-term challenge for compliance teams. That's not surprising since, they are a part of a war of attrition, according to Oleksandr Pomoshnikov, Head of International Business Development for Ukraine-based YouControl, which offers RuAssets, a tool for tracking Russian and Belarusian assets. In this podcast he underscores the importance of adopting a three lines of defense model and paying close attention to the origins of funds. Russian companies have been actively changing beneficial owners to persons in neighboring jurisdictions and opening business units there as well. This can lead to very complicated and hard-to-trace business structures, he explains, not just because there may be multiple holding companies. Many of the jurisdictions in the region have closed systems, making it difficult to determine ownership and identify politically exposed persons. Listen in to learn more. But do listen carefully. Oleksander was in Poland with a challenging internet connection while recording.

Imagine sitting on a beach, looking out into the ocean with a cool beverage in hand, palm trees swaying in the wind. Now, you may be wondering, what's with the sudden visual experiment? Well, that's because, in this episode of The Real Estate Diplomat, we have Barbara Warren from Noval Properties, building luxury developments throughout the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean. Sounds like a great getaway from the cool fall time in Chicago, right? Not only that, but Barbara will also be taking us on a journey, sharing her life growing up, her experience learning about different cultures and her rise to success as the Director of International Business Development. As always, there's a lot to unpack in today's episode, so tune in and enjoy! How Starting from Zero can be Worth ItWhen asked about her move from Saint Martin to the Dominican Republic, Barbara shared her struggles starting from zero. She had a beautiful life in St. Martin, having worked there for seventeen years in the hospitality industry. Barbara even had a television show. And while the island was small, the Saint Martin community was open-minded and respectful. Not that the Dominican Republic was not but the community there was, as Barbara described it, very settled in their ways. And so, upon moving there, it was challenging for her to start from zero. “Nobody knew, nobody cared” is what she believed for a while. But eventually, she stumbled upon a beautiful opportunity at Noval Properties. There, Barbara met their outstanding CEO, who was also from the hospitality real estate industry. She felt blessed, believing once again that everything happens for a reason. To think, Barbara crossed paths with her boss, who hired and believed in her, and even now, she still learns a lot from Noval Properties. And while it was hard in the beginning, having found an excellent professional system to go by helped get her back on her feet. In the end, her taking that leap to live globally helped her find a fresh new perspective in life.Take that Leap to Live GloballyFor Barbara Warren, global living allowed her to reinvent herself. And with each time she moved to a different place in the world, she takes what she learned from there and willingly starts anew. Sure, it can be challenging to make that transition, especially with the ongoing pandemic, but it was always worth it to Barbara. And so, when asked about how she helps other people make that same leap, Barbara shared an anecdote on her sales at the beginning of the pandemic. To give us an idea, she scaled it down to having 12 luxury villas on sale at the start of 2020, but they only had two left towards the end of the year. Again, they sold out projects during the pandemic, which means there was a need for luxury vacation properties even then. With this example, Barbara explained that the pandemic created many needs, from fresh air, sunshine, walking space, and of course, passive income. Then again, when we look back at our lives before the pandemic, these needs were always there. But now, a lot of people's minds have been reset, often spiritually. They realized that we are not living forever, so we must enjoy the now. And so, after learning how important and precious life is, there is no better time than the present to give ourselves the chance to live globally. After all, only in living globally will we see ourselves with a fresh new perspective and even reinvent who we are like Barbara always did. And so, if you are sitting on money in the bank, take it out, buy something, and live the life you always wanted. Take this as a sign to make that leap and live globally.About Barbara Warren:Barbara Warren is best known for curating magical lifestyle experiences via international luxury real estate investments throughout the Caribbean.Barbara has over a decade of international luxury experience within new developments and within the high-end real estate sectors. Jennifer Hargreaves is the Founder and CEO of tellent and a mom of two children. tellent is an online resource and technology platform dedicated to helping professional women and employers find, fill and create flexible work. She is on a mission to make work, work better for women and advocates with the government, business and industry to create greater, and more equal, access to opportunities. Jennifer was educated in Canada and launched her career overseas in International Business Development. She has lived and worked in New Zealand, New York and London and now calls Toronto home. In this episode: The “idea” of being fully present in our work life & family life is much easier than the implementation. Flexibility in the workplace creates opportunities for a highly talented & often untapped group of women who want to be engaged & to lead in their careers. When looking for flexible work get clear on what you want, connect with your network, do your research, & be prepared. Leverage your existing network. Start with the people who already know, like, & trust you. We also talked about how flexibility in the workplace creates opportunities and Jennifer shared some strategies to implement when negotiating for more flexible work. We chatted about leveraging your existing network as part of your job search and a whole lot more! Jennifer was so much fun to talk to! You can feel the joy and passion that she has for the work that does with her tellent community. Jennifer is committed to making work better for women! IT TAKES TIME Jennifer started tellent four years ago when both of her kids were at home. She said that she really struggled. It took her two years to figure out that she couldn't do both well. At the beginning, she tried to get work done while her little ones were napping or while they were playing quietly for 15 minutes. THE JUGGLE SUCKED AT THE BEGINNING! What Jennifer found was that her mind was never fully on what she was doing and she felt like she was failing at both work and parenting. She found it incredibly stressful. Even just sitting down to respond to an email, getting her thoughts in order, and communicating her message was so hard. Jennifer would get interrupted or would expect to be interrupted. If she was playing with her kids, in the back of her mind, she would be wondering if someone had responded to the email that she had sent earlier. The cycle of thinking about one thing while doing another thing led Jennifer to really not be present. BEING PRESENT From this struggle, the key learning for Jennifer was to not try to do both. Instead, she tries to just be very present with what she is doing. When her kids are in school, this works well. She can work while they are away at school and she can be with them when they're at home. This provides a nice, easy division. THEN, COVID... When COVID hit, though, Jennifer felt like she was right back to where she was before. She regressed in her business progression because she became a full-time mom, teacher, and business owner all at once! Jennifer's juggle got very chaotic. It threw her back into this very stressful place again with trying to manage it all. DISTINGUISHING TASKS What Jennifer had to do again was to separate the two things to make sure that she was being a hundred per...
