In a world where businesses are constantly evolving and facing new challenges in cybersecurity and IT infrastructure, the importance of collaboration between IT and security teams has never been more critical. At the recent RSA Conference, Sean Martin had the opportunity to sit down with Tim Roddy from Open Systems to talk about the topics of business transformation, IT security, and the necessity of aligning IT and security initiatives for a more secure and efficient operation.Business and IT Transformation in the Digital AgeThe conversation kicked off discussing the challenges that businesses face in a rapidly changing digital landscape. Tim highlighted the need for businesses to adapt to transformations driven by factors like remote work, cloud migrations, and evolving business requirements. With threats constantly looming, the alignment of business processes, IT functions, and security measures becomes paramount to staying ahead of the curve.Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) - A Game-Changer in Connectivity and SecurityOne of the key topics discussed was the concept of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and its impact on network security. Tim shed light on the importance of implementing ZTNA to ensure secure and controlled access to critical applications and data. By deploying ZTNA, organizations can limit access to authorized personnel only, thereby reducing the risk of unauthorized access and potential data breaches.Bridging the Gap Between IT and Security TeamsTim emphasized the need for organizations to bridge the gap between IT and security teams, especially in smaller enterprises where resources are limited. By offering managed services like SASE (Secure Access Service Edge), Open Systems enables organizations to focus on core business activities while ensuring that IT and security functions are efficiently managed and monitored.Real-World Use Cases and Success StoriesThroughout the conversation, Tim shared insightful examples of how Open Systems has helped businesses, particularly in the manufacturing sector, enhance their security posture and IT infrastructure. From implementing ZTNA for secure access to critical equipment to transitioning from MPLS to SD WAN for cost efficiency and flexibility, Open Systems has been instrumental in driving IT and security transformations for organizations of all sizes.Looking Towards a Secure FutureAs businesses continue to navigate the complexities of modern cybersecurity challenges, the role of providers like Open Systems in guiding organizations towards a more secure and efficient future becomes increasingly significant. Paul is joined by Sarthak Patnaik, CEO of Creative Xchange to talk about music and how it has shaped his life, how he got into the music industry and why he wants to help artists. KEY TAKEAWAYS I'm a computer science engineer. I learned computer science by using it as a tool to solve a problem. Music happens to be one industry where this can happen. There was a big problem in the music industry is that there's not a fair chance to make a living as an artist, despite being trained in the profession, unlike a plumber. I use my tools to solve this. Sound and smell are two powerful reminders of times we've gone through, I clearly associate times of my life with songs, for example, Lady Antebellum when I was in New York and those things are associated with Lady Antebellum. All the emotions of working during the great recession, the sadness and joy are associated with that. What we see in the world right now, with digital tools, there's nothing like that for musicians and that's what we're trying to solve, how you fundamentally address the problem of making a living as a musician and sell what you create If you stay away from the problem, you stay shielded from the problem and you're shielded from what the problem is. There shouldn't be a ‘top' and ‘bottom' of talent, everyone should be able to exist in the middle ground, it's a lovely place to be for people to share and evolve creatively. BEST MOMENTS ‘I started listening to country music for the sheer pleasure of the lyrics, this brought me to ballads, then rock and metal and now I listen to everything. Music is still evolving.' ‘Bob Dylan is a favourite of mine, Blood On The Tracks is a heartbreak album and my favourite.' ‘Anyone can sing.' ‘We relentlessly try to create opportunities for musicians.' Was kostet die Cloud?

How does cybersecurity help leaders to take more risk? How do you unite industry players to drive digitalization in an industry and increase digital adoption? And how do you build a culture that allows each individual to unfold and contribute to innovation?Natalia speaks on overcoming the fear of implementing digital products and services, how to increase adoption by building trust, and the inner work required to become an inclusive, industry leader. My Key take-aways and Learnings from Natalia:1 Cybersecurity is complex and not easy to grasp: Educate your stakeholders by stepping into their shoes—ask more questions and listen—to understand their reality and to close the knowledge gap. 2 Create a catchy, compelling value proposition to connect your stakeholder's reality with cybersecurity or any digital service or solution and use storytelling to drive your message home. 3 Think collaboration over competition: There's no time to reinvent the wheel—partner up and collaborate! Focus on your strengths as you unite players to contribute under a common goal, and focus on small wins to spur momentum .4 Build a culture of belonging for equity, social justice, and innovation: The change starts within yourself. Inclusive leaders enhance satisfaction, and collaboration. This requires that we connect with our emotions, share our feelings, be honest to ourselves on our shortcomings, yet focus energy to build our strengths, and build trusting relationships with the people we work with through honest, respectful feedback.Connect with us: Natalia on Linkedin Me, Helena, on Linkedin or Instagram , or visit my website for more inspiring change stories----------------------------------------------Hey fellow change enthusiast,I hope you enjoyed our conversation. IT Transformation will take on a new look as we go dive deeper into 2021 - according to Stijn Raemdonck, CIO, Alpro, and Senior IT Business Partner, Danone. IT leaders will need to move forward with new technologies such as AI, quantum, and RPA, but the biggest challenge may be in leading a change in culture. In this “never normal” climate that we are in (as Stijn puts it), we need to rethink how we empower and enable our leaders and teams. True transformational leaders need to come with a new and refined vision. Stijn joins our J.D. Miller for a sneak peak into his highly anticipated talk coming up at our CIO Benelux Virtual Summit, March 23rd. Give it a listen!

- Was ermöglichen APIs? - Welche Kategorien von APIs gibt es? - Ist PSD2 gleich Banken APIs? - Was bedeuten APIs für Banken? - Was können Banken tun?

Scientists and engineers know that communicating their work in a compelling narrative is crucial to their line of work. It helps people understand and appreciate the complexity of the research and study they have done but the problem is, not many STEM professionals know how to turn their work into a compelling story. What they need to do, according to Dr. Bob Rogers, is to work on their demystifier quotient which is the ability to bring their stories to life and translate these complex topics into an engaging and comprehensible story for the general audience. Dr. Rogers is a leader in his technical field of data science and artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare and he is also a master communicator and translator of complex topics. He is an extraordinary demystifier in his area of expertise and he is currently the Expert in Residence for AI at UCSF Smarter Health where he is developing FDA-cleared AI to improve healthcare, and he is also an advisory board member at the Institute for Applied Computational Science at Harvard University where he's currently helping shape the Data Science, Computational Science, and Engineering Graduate Programs at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. However, it is a skill that remains elusive for many scientists and engineers because turning technical research into a compelling story isn’t the easiest thing to do. But Dr. Bob Rogers says that it’s possible if you start by understanding the needs of your audience and answering these questions: why they’re there, what they need to know, and what can your product do for them. Once you have those dialed in, it will be much easier to communicate with them in an effective and engaging manner that will allow them to resonate with the work that you have done. By simplifying the terms you use and sharing your narrative in a compelling yet easy to grasp manner, you have already made it that much easier to get your message across. It is about knowing every detail about the topic at hand and finding a balance of what to add or leave out in crafting a narrative from a complex topic in order to make it comprehensible for your target audience. Leveraging AI now and in the future Artificial Intelligence is a system that’s built to answer a very specific question. If you think about AI that way, then you’re well on your way to being able to maximize it to its full potential. AI shouldn’t be viewed as a competitor for human skills; rather, consider it as a source of support that improves the processes and output that’s gathered from large amounts of data. However, there are risks and challenges involved when in the adoption of AI, with the biggest one being its inability to recognize underlying bias in the data that’s entered within its system. This is particularly true with the extant privacy laws for data protection across various industries. SMACTalk Live at VMWorld with Intel In this special Intel sponsored episode of SMACTalk, Daniel Newman leads a show focused on digital transformation while attending VMworld 2018. Joining Daniel is Lisa Davis, Vice President and General Manager of Digital Transformation and Scale Solutions, Enterprise and Government for Intel’s Data Center Group. During this podcast, Daniel speaks to Lisa about what Intel is doing to further digital transformation and how data will make it all happen faster. During the show, Lisa discussed how Intel talks digital transformation, mentioning how it sometimes becomes an overused term. Every company today is a technology company. To remain competitive, you need to use technology to move faster and drive more meaningful insights inside your business. Digital transformation is all about enabling businesses to compete in a tech-centered world. Lisa gave us an example of Ford—who is no longer just an auto-manufacturing plant. Instead, they are a mobility service provider. Every company is transforming themselves into this technological world. No matter what business you’re in, you are a tech business at the core. And for each business, digital transformation should be a top priority. In this episode, Daniel and Lisa both discussed what digital transformation means to business systems. It all comes down to data and building a digital transformation system depends on it. Whether the data is from a software or a database, it should be leveraged to move businesses forward faster than ever before. Digital strategies are connected to business strategies and should be aligned with data strategies. All three should be aligned to one another for success. At VM World, VMware’s multi-cloud environment was a big focus. Having a hybrid cloud strategy is all about workload and data mobility. Lisa discussed how seamless orchestration and flexibility as an organization to drive insights for data is what Intel supports in this new environment. Daniel mentioned how 90 percent of the world’s data was created in the last 12 months. Data is growing exponentially. Technology has to support the digital transformation and cannot be done without it. Furthering this point, Lisa discussed Intel Select Solutions, a partnership with VMware. The whole purpose of the tool is to help organizations adopt tech faster, simplifying the integration of the new technology to form a data-centric environment. Intel performs tests, benchmarks and validates reference architecture so customers don’t have to. It simplifies the process and helps customers modernize their environments faster. During the show, Lisa shared how to make the cloud work and how collaboration is key over competition. An ecosystem of partners needs to work together to help customers adopt technology. It’s all about easing the complexity of the environment. As a former CIO, Lisa has 26 years of experience being the customer. Understanding what customers really need, she helps Intel further their customer-centric approach and experience, both keys to success. As a last point, Daniel and Lisa discussed the future of the data center being the hybrid cloud which will bring about so many new opportunities for businesses and CIOs. The more data businesses can put next to their computing power, the more problems they can solve. And the ability to process data faster and store it in larger quantities is going to change the face of data. In this episode of the Voice of Veritas podcast, we’re digging into the truth in information. Your host Biswajit Mishra, Solutions Marketing, Veritas, sits down with Scott Sinclair, Sr. Analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), for a 2-part discussion on the power of data and the complexities of IT. ESG does research and strategy with IT leaders speaking regularly within the storage industry. Scott notes, “It’s all about data.” Before we had the problem of storing the data. Now, we have the challenge of how to maximize their data. Data is the fuel that can drive competitive differentiation. The challenge is how do companies maximize the value of the data they’ve been storing for decades? Transformation technologies free up resources and resources can then be reallocated to driving innovation for the business. “The object storage space is almost the perfect microcosm of what we are seeing within the storage in general”. The transition of storage to usability of data -helping customers use their data to drive value for the business and tools that apply intelligence into storage will transform IT within organizations.
