Triggering Love - featuring Robert O'Hara (he/him)Featuring award winning playwright and Tony Award nominated theater director Robert O'Hara | he/himThis creative conversation kicks off with frank discussions of the practical and physical: this industry is tough, success is not promised, and backstage Broadway is far from glamorous. In short, it's a job! Robert and Will connect on the value of voicing the risks to young artists early - "It's a profession, not a hobby." This leads to an interrogation of trigger warnings in general and specifically with regards to Robert's hotly publicized direction of Jeremy O. Harris' SLAVE PLAY on Broadway. Will takes the opportunity to ask Robert about the difference of developing new work when directing MACBETH at The Denver Center. Robert suggests approaching all projects like new plays, a project that has never appeared before, by bringing a personal perspective to every choice that is made. Only by making informed, personal choices can audiences learn who you are and clarify your artistic voice. After a rigorous discussion of reality, Robert's brave tarot pull explores how to shepherd grace personally and professionally. In Teacakes and Tarot: Conversations with Queer Futurists, host Will Wilhelm (they/them) welcomes an artistic crush for an intimate chat and a reading. Each episode features a new queer guest discussing art, life in our industry, and their dreams and intentions while the world of performance waits in the wings. Together, they hold space to summon more inclusive, exciting, and queer-friendly ways to create. Protecting Softness - featuring Jéhan Òsanyin (they/them)Featuring theater director, actor, playwright, storyteller, and lead facilitator of earthseed Jéhan Òsanyin | they/themOur evening begins as Will invites Jéhan to illuminate the audience about their company, earthseed, which is committed to decolonizing theater through examining the wilderness as the quintessential scene partner and inspiration. This leads to a fruitful discussion about what theatre artists too often fight to control when preparing to perform and what they unknowingly yield when sitting in community. Will then seizes the opportunity to ask Jéhan about their one-person show, "Yankee Pickney," as Will prepares for their own one-person show, "Gender Play, or what you Will." Besides one-person show development, the two discover a shared mischievous delight in titling their gender defiance - Jéhan enjoys "Gender Vacillator" whereas Will prefers "Gender Traitor." Jéhan speaks openly about the heartbreak and new resolve they have felt in equal parts while creating Art in a capitalistic American society especially in the wake of the pandemic. As the cards of chance flip, we hear a valuable conversation around relishing rest and peace after a lifetime of holding labor in high regard. In Teacakes and Tarot: Conversations with Queer Futurists, host Will Wilhelm (they/them) welcomes an artistic crush for an intimate chat and a reading. Bobbitt | he/himThe subject of structure, from institutions to boards to families, appears throughout this week's sparkling conversation. Will kicks off by asking Michael how his intersectionality across race, artistry, and sexuality informs the organizational reforms and redesigns he now leads as an artist turned executive administrator. Michael explains that he is learning to trust his artistic curiosity when approaching hard questions and inherited systems within art institutions. He continues by outlining how Theatre will need young people with new ideas and a friendly embrace to technology in order to welcome audiences back instead of waiting to go back to normal - or, as he points out, "theater of the late-1900s." In the tarot reading, Michael generously shares his hopes and dreams for his son in this tender conversation with the cards. Joining me on the show this week is our in-house nutrition coach Erin Murray rounding out our nutrition series. We've unpacked protein; we've unpacked carbs; now, it's time for us to dive into fats. Along with Carbs, fats have been demonized in the past for supposedly causing heart disease. And on the other end of the spectrum, we have people saying fats are amazing and to eat as many fats as you want. With these two extremes, it needs to less about good and bad and more about focusing on quantity and exposure. And it genuinely needs to come down to what do we really know about fats: How many fats should you be eating? What types of fats should you be eating? What are fats actually doing for you from a physiologic standpoint? What are the best fat sources? Listen in to learn how many fats and what types of fats you should be eating so that you can build healthy, lean muscle along with other key physiologic variables. Here is a bit of an intro to get to know Erin Murray (@erinsuncommoneats) better.    “Knowing that food was an act of love, I always appreciated the time, sensations, and ritual of good food. But as I grew, the realization of how deeply food affects the body became clear. It was obvious that some foods made me feel better than others--more energized and more nourished. Some foods made me feel unwell--with an upset stomach or fatigue or discomfort. The topic captured my attention, and I read my first "diet book" when I was still in middle school. I had no idea what I was doing, but I was intellectually curious. And so began the spiral of learning about food, experimenting, reading about different strategies and topics, testing programs, and experiencing a lot of the diet-drama-mayhem that permeates our culture.    Over time, my knowledge blossomed. And thankfully, my love for food saved me from the pitfalls of dieting. After a lot of experimentation and learning, it became clear to me that diets don't work. And that fresh, whole, real food is deeply nourishing and equally delicious. That act of food love that I knew so well could now be magnified. How caring is it to prepare foods that are not only satisfying, but also deeply nourishing? It's an act of love for those we are feeding, and it's an act of love for ourselves.”   Today's conversation covered everything from the importance of having worked in many different jobs and environments, to the value of working for yourself. We talked about Erin's career so far, what she offers to the industry and to anyone she works with, and we defined what it meant to be uncommon.    To learn more about Erin, you can follow her on Instagram @erinsuncommoneats , or you can head to her website https://www.erinmurraywellness.com/   To learn more about your host, Chris Liddle, you can follow along on Instagram @christianliddle , @thelifestylechase or you can go to www.invigoratetraining.com   This podcast is produced in both audio and video and by supporting the show by subscribing on your favourite platforms and sharing the episode, you support the guest AND the host.    Thank you so much for listening or watching, be sure to check out past episodes, as there is likely to be some familiar faces no matter where you are from.

For much of the last year or so in the influence marketing space, there has been a growing trend to move away from mega-influencers in favor of micro- and nano-influencers. Those with fewer than 50,000 or even 10,000 followers. The reasons, as we’ve discussed with several of our guests, is that the smaller the following, the higher the engagement rate … generally speaking. If the engagement rate for a small number of people is high enough, it means that influencer has actual impact on more audience members than mega-influencers with lower engagement rates. I wanted to dig in and explore use cases and case studies where this is happening and connected with Erin Murray recently. She is the vice-president for brand and consumer marketing at Peace Out Skincare. They have used both mega-influencers and micro-/nano-influencers to help educate the market and create awareness and conversion for their skin creams, acne treatments and ointments. And Erin shared their learnings with me. Peace Out also zeroed in recently on surfacing a very niche, but highly relevant sub-group of influencers in the space: dermatologists. She joined me to talk about the brand’s back and forth with influencers of different sizes, zeroing in on a specialty niche of influencers and even what her brand is up to on TikTok. You always seem to learn more when the guest is a brand-side decision maker because they’re not just thinking about all this activity with influencers. They’re testing approaches, learning and actually executing campaigns that drive their business. This episode of Winfluence, the podcast, is sponsored by Julius. I mention that software more than others in my book because it’s the platform I’ve been using for a few years now to find influencers, engage with them and manage campaigns.  Julius has powerful filters that let me drill down find outdoors influencers who also love jazz music. Or the content creators who are dermatologists in Chicago. But it certainly also gives me the mega influencers and celebrity influencers I might need to help launch a product or campaign around any type of product. And in most cases, it has contact information so I don’t have to go fishing to reach them. All the elements of campaign management are in the software, too. I love the fact I can assign a purchase price or value to every single social deliverable that is a part of campaign, automatically track it based on when the influencer says they’ll post, and get an ROI report for each element.  You know I wouldn’t say this if it wasn’t true -- You owe it to your brand or agency to do a demo of Julius today. This week, we’re talking about one of our favorite styles of education — one that asks students to get hands-on, roll up their sleeves, get in the weeds (among other things), and actively apply everything they’re learning. Specifically, we’re talking about Zoo Schools, which are just as cool as they sound.  Our guests are Emily Cunningham, a veteran science educator and an instructor at the Columbus Zoo School, and Erin Murray, a senior at the Zoo School. We’ll learn what exactly goes on at Zoo School and why these alternative forms of education can serve so many students so much better than the traditional high school route.
