Interview by Kris PetersForty years is a long time, no matter what it refers to, but when it relates to a band that is still going strong after four decades in the music industry, it takes on even greater significance.Known for their lunatic personas and stage antics backed by solid musical skills and songwriting chops, D-A-D made their international breakthrough in 1989 with the album No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims which spawned the hits Girl Nation, Jihad, Point Of View and the MTV favourite and global smash single Sleeping My Day Away.Songs such as Laugh ‘n' a 1/2, Bad Craziness, Grow and Pay, Everything Glows and many more are a part of some people's lives just as important as their own children, and Australian fans get the chance to allow their children to hear them live when D.A.D return to Australia in May.Get ready for an unapologetic, hard-hitting rock ‘n' roll show from Denmark when D-A-D return for their Greatest Hits Tour, treating fans, old and new, to a sonic journey through the band's illustrious career. Every time the band steps on stage, another party starts, with vocalist Jacob Binzer joining HEAVY to warn us what we might expect."I'm packed and ready to go," he laughed. "I wish I could spend more time down there, but it's the start of the festival season in Europe, so unfortunately, we have to head back straight after. I think I can spend a couple of days in Melbourne after the last show, which I will enjoy, but then we are back to Europe. But Australia, you know what? The first time back in the early nineties, when we went to promote and play for the album back then I went up North to Cairns and I went on a motorcycle safari with a local guide, and I want to do that again. So please join in if anyone down there can help. A motorcycle safari in Cairns. How about that?"In the full interview, Jacob provided insights into the band's upcoming Australian tour, set to begin on May 20 in Perth, with additional performances in Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne. He discussed the challenges of curating a greatest hits set list from their extensive catalogue, emphasizing the importance of selecting songs that resonate with Australian audiences, such as God Praise to Man, 1900, and Sleeping My Day Away. He explains how different songs seem to go better in different parts of the world and why.The conversation also touched on the band's loyal fan base and the vibrant atmosphere of their live shows, particularly in Australia, where they aim to create an energetic experience. Jacob reflected on the success of their breakthrough album, No Fuel Left For The Pilgrims, and the significance of celebrating 40 years as a band, their achievements and musical legacy after 40 years and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

The Jeremy White Show welcomes David MIller from IL DIVO! Multi-platinum group IL DIVO, who just released their new “XX: 20TH ANNIVERSARY ALBUM,” which just hit the Billboard charts at #1 in Classical Crossover Albums, #1 in Classical Albums and Top 40 of Current Album Sales. The album is also available as the first-ever vinyl edition of their career, with commemorative and collectable packages of “XX: 20TH ANNIVERSARY ALBUM,” available at www.ildivo.com. The iconic quartet—Urs Bühler (tenor) of Switzerland, Sébastien Izambard (tenor) of France, David Miller (tenor) of America, and new member Steven LaBrie (baritone) of America—uphold the spirit of their signature sound while expanding its scope on their 10th full-length and very first independent album on Il Divo Music/Thirty Tigers. Produced by Grammy® and Latin Grammy® Award-winning artist Carlos Fernando Lopez (Ricky Martin, Laura Pausini, Marc Anthony), “XX: 20TH ANNIVERSARY ALBUM,” includes songs sung by IL DIVO in English, Spanish and Italian; and an original composition written by the group, “Despertar Sin Ti.” In addition to the IL DIVO spin on Gnarls Barkley's “Crazy,” the album will also include Whitney Houston's “I Have Nothing,” with a Spanish version, “No Tengo Nada,”; Miguel Gallardo's “Hoy Tengo Ganas De Ti,”; Brenda Lee and Elvis Presley's “Always On My Mind,” sung in English and Italian; Ed Sheeran's smash hit “Perfect”; “Despacito,” the mega-smash by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, and Justin Bieber, and more. Since 2004, the Multi-Platinum classical crossover progenitors have emerged as a phenomenon buoyed by displays of vocal prowess, gigs around the world, and an indefinable magic between them. They have sold 30 million-plus units worldwide, scored 50 #1 hits, and earned 160 Gold and Platinum records across 35 countries. Between selling out tours on multiple continents, they've performed everywhere from the Summer Olympics and FIFA World Cup to Diamond Jubilee at Windsor and the Commander-in-Chief's Ball. Life changed when the guys weathered the tragic passing of original co-founder Carlos Marín due to COVID-19. The remaining bandmates paid homage to their fallen brother with the Greatest Hits Tour in 2022. Steven LaBrie stepped in as a guest baritone on the road only for Urs, Sébastien, and David to welcome him as a full member a year later. Around the same time, they entered a studio in Coconut Grove, FL with producer Carlos Fernando Lopez. This new season represents a series of firsts: their first album with Steven, and also the first for their own label Il Divo Music with the members serving as Executive Producers and Sébastien as Co-Arranger. Interview by Kris PetersBad Manners are ska/punk royalty.Period.No arguments, no debates, just pure, simple fact. With a track listing including Lip Up Fatty, Special Brew, Walking In The Sunshine, Lorraine, Just A Feeling, My Girl Lollipop, Inner London Violence and of course the ultimate knees up Can Can, Bad Manners peaked back in the late 1970s but their enduring legacy has seen them survive all that Father Time has thrown their way as the band fronted by the legendary Buster Bloodvessel gears up for Australian assault with a Greatest Hits Tour this October.Buster joined HEAVY earlier this week to run us through the life and times and future of Bad Manners."We are coming to tour your lovely country and eat all your pies," was his initial greeting.Which was followed up by, "I don't really care if I offend anybody, but I'm not really an offensive person. I can be if it's pointed in my direction (laughs)."We move on to the setlist, which, of course, is made up of fan favourites, but we ask Buster if there would be much difference to the songs played if he was to choose his own personal favourites."Not quite, but not far from it," he measured. "I mean, all the songs we do live are usually my favourites. Songs that make people dance have always worked for me."In the full interview, Buster tells us what we can expect from the shows, what he never leaves home on tour without, the early days of Bad Manners and where they fit in, his early vision for the band and how it has changed since, what he feels was the best time period for the band, making allowances on stage as you get older, some of his personal highlights, changing with the music scene, his top three commandments of punk and more.

British rock outfit The Animals are one rocks most defining acts, ever.Period.Starting in the 1960s around the same time as The Beatles, The Animals revolutionised public perception of rock music, churning out hits like House of The Rising Sun, We Gotta Get Out Of This Place, Boom Boom, Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood, I Put A Spell On You, It's My Life and more. The band were only the second British band to top the American charts - the other being The Beatles - and they introduced a sound to the world that has been copied and built on ever since. Now, almost 60 years later, The Animals return to Australia for their Greatest Hits Tour, with, surprisingly, original drummer John Steel still occupying the drum stool.HEAVY caught up with Steel recently to discuss the tour and the legacy of The Animals."It was just before the big lockdown happened," he said when asked when The Animals were last in this country. "We were supposed to be back in 2020 but that was cancelled, and another one was postponed and so on, so here we after 3 years and it's been a big miss because we love playing in Australia. It's a great country with great hospitality, great food, great wine... everything's good. What's not to like (laughs)? There's sunshine too!"Although the title of the tour gives pretty much everything away, we press Steel on what fans can expect from the run of shows."We will be doing the big hits," he affirmed, "but we've got a good repertoire of B sides and album tracks that we can mine. Danny, the lead singer and guitarist, he's an encyclopedia on 60s music, particularly The Animals, and he's a big Beatles fan, but he keeps digging around and bringing up songs that I haven't played for 50 years. He's like "Johnny, how about this one?" (laughs). So we give it a try and if it works we throw it in. It keeps the set fresh so that we're not playing the same thing every night, the same way every night, which is good for us and good for the audience too."In the full interview, Johns talks about keeping the songs fresh and interesting despite playing them for over 50 years, how The Animals stage show has changed from when they started to now, the early days of the band and the musical climate they came into, The House Of The Rising Sun and it's phenomenal success, if he thinks the band were ready for what came after, recording that song in one take, their formula for success, the enduring success of The Animals and more.

Paul chats with Collabro ahead of their new single with Sir Cliff Richard Mistletoe and WineSingle Release Date – 26th November 2021 “I'm finding it hard to believe that it has been 33 years since I first released Mistletoe and Wine. I am really thrilled with this newly recorded version with the Collabro boys. I love their harmonies and it was a pleasure to sing with them, and if this new version gets everyone into the Christmas Spirit we will be very happy!!” – Sir Cliff Richard Following a hugely successful tour as special guests to Sir Cliff Richard in 2017, Collabro and Sir Cliff have become close friends in the industry and have supported each other, including Sir Cliff joining an intimate gig where Collabro performed at Pizza Express Holborn and Collabro performing at the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate Sir Cliffs 60 years in the music business. Whilst Collabro were recording their Christmas album “Christmas Is Here” and Cliff was recording his “Music… The Air That I Breathe” album, they came up with the idea to re-record the festive Christmas classic “Mistletoe and Wine”, 33 years after its original release. The Collabro boys couldn't be more thankful for this opportunity and are endlessly grateful to Sir Cliff for his continued support. “It really is a dream come true and probably the most surreal thing we have ever done. This song was first released before any of us were born so we have literally heard it every Christmas our whole lives. Working with Sir Cliff has always been the most incredible experience and we really hope people enjoy this new version of the song.” Michael Auger Collabro Collabro are the World's Most Successful Musical Theatre Group. The boys met for their first rehearsal above a pub in London Bridge back in 2014. They went on to win the competition with one of the highest voting majorities of any series, and their debut album Stars went straight into the UK album charts at number one, was quickly certified gold, and became the fasting selling album of 2014. To this day, they are one of the most popular Got Talent winners ever. Last year, Collabro released their album “Christmas Is Here” comprising of a range of festive classics and an original track, the titular 'Christmas Is Here', which saw them team up once again with Ben Adams from A1. After going from strength to strength with six top-selling albums, four sell-out UK tours, two US tours, headline slots at the London Palladium, Wembley Stadium, the O2 arena and the Royal Albert Hall, this summer saw COLLABRO performing at Tatton Park Pop Up Festival, In The Park with Katherine Jenkins, Sound On The Ground Blackpool, and performing with Alfie Boe at Trentham Live and are currently on their major headline Greatest Hits Tour.
