Isn't it interesting how being authentic may be seen as inauthentic by another? Isn't it interesting that in our worldview, when we express our values, those things may not be valued by others? We all think we are right to some degree. By our own psychometric, it is the case in our inner world as we make meaning of the experiences we have. That doesn't mean it makes the other person wrong. It just means that YOU may not understand the other person and therefore project your own thoughts onto the situation at hand. So How can we better understand others and their worldview, thus ensuring better relationships and conversations with those we seek to care for and serve? Join me on this journey as I speak to an international speaker, author, and master network marketer, Kalpesh Patel, as he shares how being authentic is being in rapport with oneself, and knowing how to express it the friction with others disappears. In this episode we talk about: The ability to connect with another human being Being the best version of yourself and attracting others that represent who you are to make a bigger dent on the plant Authentic rapport How to tap into your inner self and how to get connected with your truer self Your relationship with what's around you and your interaction with others Reading and learning to learn about self and human behavior Wisdom of the ages - we create our own reality How you can choose to experience what happens to you with practice Instant rapport Be yourself and inspire others to be themself. self-expression Influence a conversation Authentic and transparent, hear where people are at, search inside and express it Sharing yourself in a way that can help others find the answer for themself Being present allows for magical conversations to happen Understanding and being aware of NLP in how one can use it for communication and rapport Marketing and fear of missing out How Social media and this digital mindset can take away from building rapport in real life. How you can use social media for positive difference and influence Be careful on how experts are teaching people how not to be authentic on social media Share your experience to enrich lifes. How Being authentic is being in rapport with yourself, know who you are and the friction disappears How we get in our own way in building rapport. Moving from noise head connection to authentic heart connection Building rapport through network marketing and how it can be one of the best places to learn how to build rapport with people. Get over fear, greed, desperation, remove noise and look for the transformation Build relationships, build the people. Using love as a business strategy might seem like a strange title - especially coming from an engineer. Generally speaking we technical people are pretty much just the facts. The talk of soft skills and focusing on people makes me squeamish - so to start talking about loving your customer is really a leap - for me anyway. Over the past few months, I keep hearing pastors talk about being called to love one another. Yes, if you look that up in the Bible - you might find it a time or two - so not really a surprise to hear it. But perhaps I just now have started to hear it clearly. So I have been thinking - what does this mean for me as a university faculty and business owner. We have been talking a lot about this inside the business - so much that "love the customer" is becoming a theme. Using Love as a Business Strategy Loving the customer means... Loving your customer means knowing your customer. Loving your customer means tuning into their frustrations and needs. Loving your customer means treating them like you would want to be treated. Loving your customer means people come first. Some observations We like them more. Sales are up. Everyone is happier serving them. Could it be they just don’t appreciate you? Could it be they just don’t respect you? Or could it be you? When you focus too much on I and me, you forget there’s a whole reason life is about connection with others as well. (They call that the WE part). "We" allows for you to see your blind spots. "We" allows for you to own up to your mistakes and be held accountable. "We" allows for you to get over your ego. You need "we." But don’t get it twisted. You also need "me." Because there’s also times "we" will have you so burned out from carrying the expectations of everybody else. "We" will have you trying to make everybody happy at the expense of yourself. "We" will have you chasing surface level likes on social media platforms to feel good about fake relationships with people you won’t even speak to in person. Oh we we we..... That’s when Me saves you. Humbles you. Grounds your outside focus to an inner perspective. When done right, you always have a center...a place to return to after a day full or We’s. When done wrong....you litter every conversation with “what about Me’s.” The goal....balance. How? Being bold without apology. So come on. Tune in. Episode 160 How Being a Hostage Set Her Mind Free - Interview: Jo Marie Taylor There are moments in our lives that change us – become defining moments because they challenge what we thought we knew and make us think about things differently.  On 2 August 1990 at 2:00 am, local time, Iraq launched an invasion of Kuwait with four elite Iraqi Republican Guard Division and Iraqi Army Special Forces. The main thrust was conducted by the  K (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuwait_City) uwait City while the other divisions seized the airports and two airbases. Kuwait didn’t stand for long and the Iraqi invasion quickly turned into a take-over. JoMarie Taylor, an American, was visiting Kuwait with her Kuwaiti husband found herself a hostage in the country, hiding and navigating the fear and daily threat of death; watching the destruction, rape, murder and mayhem of the invasion – all this challenged the way she thought about life. Tune into the audio program for her story as she shares her hostage experience and the change it created in her life story moving forward. Jo’s story is an opening into our own considerations about how our traumatic experiences shape and change us and how that’s part of the messy, beautiful process we call life. Raised in Ogden, Utah in the 60’s and 70’s JoMarie came from a mixed faith family life with a Catholic mother and a Latter Day Saint father. She met her husband, a former Moslem at Weber State University and they were married in 1987. In 1990 they moved to Kuwait to visit her in-laws because her father in-law had had issues with his heart and while they were there Iraq invaded. Her parents went for 5 weeks hearing nothing but CNN reports on the invasion and being unable to get a hold of their daughter. Let’s hear the story from Jo. Listen to the audio to hear Jo Marie's story. To contact Jo Marie: jomarietaylor1@yahoo.com Pinterest:@healthcoacch.jomarie Facebook: Health Coach JoMarie Website: www.coachJoMarie.com Our life experiences shape us. We hare stretched and refined, pruned and challenged, and in that process we make many choices. We can choose bitterness, cynicism, doubt, victimhood, on and on. We also can choose hope, faith, love, forgiveness, light. I’ve noticed something about older people. Most of them are either grumpy old and bitter, or they are wise, old and enlightened. Some are extreme and of course some lie in between, but it’s easy to see the roll that our chosen stories and focus play in determining who we are and who we become. In my interview with JoMarie we see a woman who, like us all, is shaped by her experiences, and in this case, opened to broader ways of considering life. As you consider your own life experiences, especially the ones you still find difficult, shameful, horrifying…consider your interpretation of events and the story you have built around them. Does that story feed fear and anger? If so, how can you reshape that story to serve you and help you find meaning? If you have chosen to find the meaning and learning in your difficult spaces please take a moment and congratulate yourself for such a healing, wise and self-supporting approach. Sometimes we need help to reframe the stories closest to us. If that’s the case, you can reach out to me or listen to earlier podcasts that share the 5 Steps to reframing your story. Thanks for being with us today! May you grow and stretch as you write your best life story, knowing that while you can’t always chose what happens to you, you can choose your response to those events. You need to become a better reader. I know - this might be something you have not heard since grade school. The old adage “leaders are readers” might not be 100% accurate, but I have found that most people who are getting things done and breaking new ground are in fact, avid readers.  I have also found that those who do not do a lot of reading are typically not growing and average. They usually do not have a lot of insight and seem to be OK with the status quo. Not knocking it - just an observation.  Another observation - I can usually tell who is a reader without asking them.  So whether you are a reader or are wanting to think about how to become a better reader and develop a better reading habit, this list should help you out.   Three Steps to Become a Better Reader in 2020(Podcast Outline) First, learn to consume content faster. No, I do not mean speed reading (although that is an option - but takes work) but I mean read smarter. To become a better reader, you need to be able to read more. But, let’s face it, not every word in a book, blog, email, or internal policy has real meaning. Learn to make good decisions about how to move through books faster. Check out this link on How to Read More in Less Time. You can go all out to the speed reading, or just learn techniques to skim that work with little practice.  Second, find the right stuff to read. How? Look to your peers or the leaders in your field. What are they reading? Sure there are many books that we come across that may not be popular and yet still rock our world. I love those gems - and read many of them. They are usually the ones I hear about on podcasts or that are written by people I follow.  Face it, to get into the top sellers is a bit of a game - and not every author has that as his or her goal. My book Resumes are Worthless is one of those. I never went after playing the game. (Yet - still on my someday maybe list)  However, the bulk of my reading tends to come from what is popular and what others have recommended. This is not so much about following the crowd - but more about keeping up. When I listen to a speaker talk about MVPs in an entrepreneurship conference, I want to know they are talking about a minimally viable product from Lean Startup and not the most valuable player from the latest NFL game.  So how to find these books? See what is being read by others who are leaders in your field. What do they post on Social Media or in blogs or mention in talks?  How do I do this?  When I hear a book mentioned I write it down for later.  When I see a book in someone's office - I write it down. I have even taken pictures of people's bookshelves to see what they are reading or have read.  Often I will just ask “what are you reading?” When I get back to the office, I look them up and will add them to my Good Reads books to read or to my Amazon wish list.  Third, pick up on my recommendations. Since you are here and following me, here is what I am recommending. These fit you if  You are trying to grow your income You hope for more control over your work/career You want freedom as much as you want money Growing wealth and being a good steward of your money matters to you You want to be inspired and realize that you can do more.  Reading List  Start with the Truth - The Bible - This is the best book for business and success ever written. It has inspired me in many ways and even helped me grow wealth. Check out How Being a Christian has Made Me Wealthy Then 6 books to read - 1 every 2 months Mindset Books Mindset Rich Dad Poor Dad (What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money - That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not!) - This book is about mindset - which is CRITICAL to your thinking. You have to step back and get control of how you look at things and realize much of what we think and been taught about success is wrong - even common sense tells us this. Rich Dad will lay it out.

Stupid lies about money are certainly prevalent. Like weight loss, everyone has advice about how to make money and grow wealth. The problem is  - most of that advice comes from people who do not have any money. Kinda like taking weight loss advice from a fat person.  OK - to be transparent I am not fat. Oh - you really do not care about that, do you.  Maybe you care more about this. I have zero debt (including real estate) and I am a multimillionaire with multiple streams of income and I generally love what I do. - even the parts when I am working with idiots. You can hear about that on Podcast 157: Finding Joy on the Job Even When You Work for an Idiot.  But I am certainly blessed. I do not claim to be wise in all things money - but I do constantly learn from others who know a lot - and little - about growing wealth. There are definitely many lies we believe.  Before we look at those lies, there are simple, but important truths about growing wealth that we overlook. Today let’s look at a few of those.  Quit Believing Stupid Lies about Money and Wealth (Podcast Outline) Truths about Money Money is tied to people (link to soft skills) Money comes from people.  Companies, governments, or individuals.  Every time money changes hands - it is a relationship Money changes hands in exchange for something. Listen to my What does it mean to be a Company of One Podcast.  Goods - you buy something or someone buys from you Service - you are paid to do something. Your job, clean the house, coach someone in a sport, take photos, etc Winning with money is about paying yourself first. Read this great book: The Richest Man in Babylon. You tend to behave (with money) like those you hang around - hear more in Podcast 095, Who You Spend Time With Is Who You Become.  The Bible teaches a lot about money and wealth. A great in-depth look at this truth in Podcast 132: How Being a Christian Has Made Me Wealthy.  Lies About Money I do not want to be rich, because rich people are greedy.  Time is money. I can get passive income and do nothing. Listen in on Podcast 041: Passive Income From Information Products the Lies and The Truth.  College is a way to wealth. You really want to read  Rich Dad Poor Dad.  Mindset is Key to Being Broke or Being Rich From Rich Dad Poor Dad Poor dad: “I’ll never be rich.” Rich dad: “There is a difference between being poor and being broke. Broke is temporary and poor is eternal.” The story of Bob has enough and lives rich while living on little. The story of Rick (business owner) does not ever have enough. Looks rich but is really broke. Reading assignment I Will Teach You to be Rich  Rich Dad Poor Dad  Click here to listen now. Subscribe & Review in iTunes Are you subscribed to my Company of One? Today, I'll be talking about what this podcast is all about, why I started it and specifically how this show can help you take your life and business to brand new levels of awesomeness. In this podcast, you will learn how to achieve freedom, purpose, and success. In this episode, you will learn who I am Anthony John Amyx is, what prompted me to start the show, and what the show will cover. You will learn how to go from a good life to an incredible life. If you are an entrepreneur who leads a family and a business, you will want to tune in to every episode. I will be teaching you how to deal with the things that are internal as well as external. You will learn how to master both the Being and the Doing. I will be having conversations with some amazing people. These conversations will help you move the needle, learn new perspectives, change your thoughts and feelings, and ultimately create new strategies and philosophies that will take you to the next level. I have taught as CreativeLive, been named one of the top 10 business coaches in the world, co-founded and received record deals with a Christian Rock Band, and have fallen in love with marketing and promotion. It sounds crazy to think about what I have experienced in the last decade and how the lessons have shaped me. In October of 2009, my Rock career came to a close. Back then, I had an identity as a rock star. And looking back, I discovered what I enjoyed most about my music career was more of the marketing than the music. Once I had this realization and the band broke up, I decided to jump fully into the online marketing game. My goal was to build a business that allowed me to work from anywhere in the world from my laptop. I didn't know how I was going to make that happen or what it would fully look like. But between burning the midnight oil and digging ditches during the day by the time 2011 rolled around I had launched a social media marketing agency and closed my first client for $2400. I started this podcast to share what I have learned and to help people remember who they truly are. I've learned when we remember who we -- the Soul in Control -- creating the next level of success and fulfillment becomes a natural extension of who we are. During this episode, you'll hear: Why the Hustle and Grind doesn't always get you to where you want to be. How there is more to creating sustained success than simply the tactics, tools and strategies. Keys to running your business instead of allowing it to run you. The art of scaling without giving up balancing your time with family and friends and having fun How Being leads to ultimate Freedom. Why it's the deep Inner work that up levels your experience of peace, power, and profits. My intention with this podcast and blog here is to help you collapse time and avoid the common pitfalls in creating and living your version of Freedom in your life. I've learned time and time again, it is the Ancient Wisdom that enables people to move from good to great. During each episode of this podcast, I will interview some of the brightest minds on the planet and continue sharing my own wisdom and insights as well. Enjoy! Andrew also do a show about the domain world at DomainNameWire.com How Being a Guest Can Help Your Show One of the things we need as podcast producers is more podcast listeners. When you appear on a podcast you are in front of people who already know how to listen to a podcast. Most podcast listeners say they hear about other podcasts on other shows.  Go listen to the show you're going to be on. This way you can have a better understanding of their audience.  Make sure your bio is up to date and provide a headshot for them to use and your podcast artwork. Always confirm the day of the interview the data, time etc of the interview When you are a guest, be a good guest and help promote the show you appeared on.  How Using Guests Can Help Your Show When you have guests that appear on your show (that bring value) you get insights and experiences that you may not have. They have stories to share, and strategies to help your audience.  While many people feel a guest will tell their audience to listen. That is not always the case (so don't count on it), but as a podcaster you need to make sure the guest has everything they need to share your show (give them a pre-written tweet with an image, give them the link, make it a no-brainer to share). Make sure to take the time to make your guest sound great (that might mean editing out ums, ya-knows, etc). Guests won't share shows where the interview was crap and the audio is worse. How Being a Good Listener Can Help You Write Effective Sales Copy  Today, I want to talk about writing great sales copy. Whether that would be blog post, sales emails, creating a sales pages, or even selling on social media. A lot has been written about the topic particularly focusing upon techniques to use in headlines or titles, keywords, power words, and getting the call to action right. One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever had when it comes to writing sales copy is something that doesn’t really involve writing at all. It doesn’t even involve saying anything or communicating anything. I want to talk about that today. What I want to talk about is to shut up and to listen. In Today’s Episode How to Write Effective Sales Copy Listen to this episode in the player above or subscribe and listen in iTunes here to get it delivered to your phone. The advice I’m giving today is to shut up and listen. It may come across a little bit blunt, and I hope I don’t offend anyone. I was given this advice many years ago. I came across a post written by Robert Bruce on CopyBlogger that really sums this up. The post says that before we do anything, we should take the time to listen to what our readers want and what we should focus on. The post is fairly short, but it sums up three different areas where we should listen before we write that blog post. Listen to whoever created the product you are selling. Ask why the product was created Who it is for What are the benefits of the product How does the product work What problem will it solve What are the limitations How can it be misunderstood Listen to your audience What are they telling you directly or indirectly Understand your audience Their needs, challenges, and words Who is the audience What are their pains and challenges What gains are they hoping for What dreams do they want to come true What are their fears, questions, and objections Listen to your competitors Have a view of the entire battlefield Competitors can also be collaborators Further Resources on How to Write Effective Sales Copy The Best Damn Copywriting Advice I’ve Found Everything You Need to Know to Master Lightroom ProBlogger Virtual Ticket Full Transcript Expand to view full transcript Compress to smaller transcript view Hi there, it’s Darren from ProBlogger here. Welcome to Episode 146 of the ProBlogger podcast where today I want to talk a little bit about writing great sales copy, whether that would be blog post, sales emails, creating sales pages, or even selling on social media. A lot has been written about the topic particularly focusing upon techniques to use in headlines or titles, how to use particular keywords or power words, how to get your call to action right, how to use video or change the color of your buttons or split test your pages. All of this advice is great and I really do encourage you to do a lot of reading and research on that. One of the best pieces of advice I’ve ever had when it comes to writing sales copy is something that doesn’t really involve writing at all. It doesn’t even involve saying anything or communicating anything. I want to talk about that today. What I want to talk about is to shut up and to listen. The advice I want to give you today is to shut up and listen. It’s a little bit blunt and I hope I don’t offend anyone by saying it. The advice I was given many, many years ago from numerous people and today came across an old post over at Copy Blogger which really summed up this lesson really well. It’s a post that Robert Bruce wrote three or four years ago now called The Best Damn Copywriting Advice I’ve Found. It really is a great post, it’s only a few hundred words long, it’s quite short. Really in this particular post, Robert Bruce says the same thing.

How Being the Best Version of You Helps Others According to James, the Full Potential Movement is comprised of individuals who have made the commitment to live their lives at a “level 10″ physically, mentally, spiritually, socially, emotionally, financially and environmentally. The impetus for founding the moment is James’ belief that happy, healthy, balanced individuals make for happy, healthy, balanced societies. On the Full Potential website he flat out writes: “If every person were operating at their full potential, the world would be like a heaven on Earth.” The Full Potential Movement empowers you, the individual, to not only affect positive changes in yourself but in your environment – which, as James points out, includes your family and community as well as the earth as a whole. The first step is to develop a vision of what it would look like for you to live your life performing your personal best in each of the seven areas mentioned above. Once you have that vision, take an honest assessment of where you are today. Next, jot down ideas of what you need to do or not do to increase your level. Don’t beat yourself up or get in judgmental conversations with yourself, just note where you are currently and do a quick brainstorm of small, simple changes that you can take to push you forward. The key word here is small changes or as James calls them “micro-commitments”. Pick three micro-commitments and focus on them everyday. As you successfully incorporate each into your habits and routines, pick another one. The changes may seem small but they quickly build on each other and soon you will start to notice improvements in yourself and in your life. Through this stacking process of micro-commitments you are building the foundation to take on bigger commitments. James suggests focusing on the areas closest to you first: physical, mental, and spiritual. While this might seem selfish, it actually gives you the personal strength and confidence to engage at a higher level socially emotionally, financially and environmentally.
