Misterb&b, like many great start-up concepts, was born out of necessity. Founder and entrepreneur Matthieu Jost sat down with me for an interview and revealed the upsetting homophobic incident that spurred the idea for his company. In a nutshell, a few years back, Jost and his partner applied as guests at a short-term rental in Barcelona during a trip to Spain. However, they were quickly turned down after the owner realized they were gay. They found new lodging in the Catalan capital, but the experience was still painful and disappointing. It got him thinking about what he could do to ensure LGBTQ travelers could find welcoming accommodations all around the world despite their sexual orientation. The ordeal led him to carve out a long-overdue category in the travel industry with his brand emerging as one of the top travel resources for the LGBTQ community.Have a listen to my discussion with Matthieu/  Read the interview at Instinct Magazine and book your next great Gaycation through Misterbandb!

‘The energy of passion and obsession, they live on the same plane. It depends how we choose to use it.’ The obsession and dedication that drives a competitive athlete can easily turn that very same person into an addict by offering a similar feeling of freedom. And if your self-worth is tied solely to your body and its physical capabilities, drugs and alcohol offer an escape from the feelings of worthlessness that arise when you learn that your Olympic dream is just that—a dream. Joe Putignano is the best-selling author of Acrobaddict, a memoir exploring the relationship between athletics and drug addiction. He has performed with Cirque du Soleil, on Broadway and at the Metropolitan Opera, and appeared on film and television as an actor, dancer and acrobat. Joe is an NASM Certified Personal Trainer, and he served as the strength and conditioning coach for Cirque du Soleil’s Totem. Joe has also modeled for a number of publications, appearing on the cover of Instinct Magazine, Driven Magazine and Apollo, among others. Today, Joe shares his story, from his inspiration to pursue gymnastics at the age of seven to the dark period when his Olympic dreams ended to his career with Cirque de Soleil. He discusses his struggle with addiction, explaining how he was captivated by drugs and alcohol and what finally moved him to get clean. Recorded in the brand new Swish Edition studios (the "secret underground studio" no more...the boys are finally outside of Scott's basement, it can now be revealed), this episode features the return of out pop singer MATT ZARLEY to the program. He brings to us his hot new single, "Perfect," as well as a remix of his fun "What The Fuck" track. He tells us about his new record label, his L.A. listening party hosted by Instinct Magazine on November 8, and what's been happening in his life since we last chatted in early June. We love Matt and we think you'll dig his catchy tunes and his love for giving back. Also on this episode, Dale, Scott & Steve break down their weekend, which included the soggy and bone chilling AIDS Walk Washington event, a rather eventful Halloween party, and a trip to Red Lobster. They discuss Kim Kardashian's slap-in-the-face-to-all-gay-people 72 day marriage, doctors' recommending that kids as young as 16 start getting HIV tests, the world welcomes the 7 billionth person (that's a lot of gays!), the scariest movies of all time, old gays have no where to live, and much more. Episode 158 is called, "Underground No More," because it's true. Listen with a friend...naked, of course.

The Queenz Of Media are thrilled to welcome Film Maker Rob Williams the CEO of Guest House Films to their show on Monday June 29th at 12:30a.m.EST! Rob Williams is an award-winning screenwriter and filmmaker, and co-owner of Guest House Films. With an impressive four movies under his belt;Long-Term Relationship, Back Soon, 3-Day Weekend and Make the Yuletide Gay. Rob graduated from Texas Christian University with a BBA degree in Finance, and received an MBA in Marketing from the University of Texas. He then moved to Los Angeles, where he worked in public relations. Frustrated with the lack of creativity in the PR field, Rob began studying screenwriting at the Twin Bridges Screenwriting Salon, where he developed primarily “mainstream” scripts such as thrillers and horrors. But the script he received the greatest feedback on was the gay-themed romantic comedy, Long- Term Relationship. With the support of his long-time partner Rodney Johnson, Rob approached good friend and acclaimed actor Matthew Montgomery with the script. Matthew's immediate response was, “You need to make this film, and I need to star in it!” This quickly led to the creation of Guest House Films. The company started production on Long-Term Relationship in January 2006, and has made four films in less than three years, with Rob serving as writer, director and producer of all films. The movies have been screened at film festivals around the world, winning audience, jury and acting awards, and securing distribution deals in North America and foreign territories. Rob was named to Instinct Magazine's “Leading Men of 2008” for his many contributions to gay cinema.
