In this episode, I spend some time talking with a great lady named Crossworks. Crossworks is one of the few female members of the NBA2K community. I found Crossworks via her YouTube channel when I was looking for people who had collected every single card in MyTeam. As is customary, before the show, I like to play my guests and so I hit the court with Crossworks where she showed off her Diamond Rose that was the ultimate reward for collecting every single card this year and we had a fun game on the court before we started.I'm glad I did because I secretly wondered if she played her own games or had someone else play for her when I first stumbled across her channel. I can confirm that she does indeed play her own games and is a tough competitor!The first thing I wanted to know is how she got interested in playing and turns out she played in high school and some in college and would definitely be interested in seeing the WNBA players be available in NBA2K.After I learn some of her background, I ask her to walk me through from start to finish the steps she took to get all of the cards. There were 1166 cards available in NBA2K14 to collect. It took her nearly all year to get all of the cards and she did that through a combination of VC, MT coins as well as the Domination, Road to the Playoffs and tournament modes - all of which she completed. She also shares with me the pack strategies she used in buying cards too.A few other things she mentioned is that you need to follow NBA2K on Facebook and Twitter to get locker codes for some players and to keep up to date on what is going on in MyTeam related to card collecting.One of things that I uncovered in the course of doing the show was that she is involved in a community called the Kings and Queens of Legitimacy and they are looking for other ladies who plan on forming their own teams to take into the MyPark mode to play against the guys in NBA2K. So, if you are a female and play NBA2K you'll definitely want to get in touch with her if you are also an NBA2K player.Near the end, we spend some time talking about her YouTube channel and how she got started and got to over 5000 subscribers. She was very grateful to her subscribers for her subscriber growth and also was very thankful to have been featured on Cash Nasty's YouTube channel. Her main goal is to help people not just with collecting cards but creating a special community that also helps each other meet their own personal goals.I was also very grateful to run across Crossworks. Durant has been putting up 40 like he's on NBA2K14. (By the way I'm using the nick name Iceberg Slim because I'm agreeing with Jalen Rose.) We dove in about the other pieces that are making the team roll so hard. We agree it has something to do with Reggie Jackson and Scotty Brooks.From there we talk a little more NBA, some NFL, and i get his Super Bowl pick. I asked why he felt so one sided about Carmelo's recent performance doesn't compare to Kevin Durant's display. I agree with some of Brian's points but I feel they are closer than he does.  For some reason he feels the Miami Heat are not a canidate to repeat as NBA champion. Siting Dwayne Wade's knee as the reason. The thing that gets me though is he list the Portland Trailblazers as being a better team and I can't say that I totally got that.We wrap up the session by going on about a variety topics in the NFL. I get Brian to give his take on the Richard Sherman fine that came late last week. The way we keep here on #Darundown, I had to ask about a few pieces that he wrote. Saying that Robert Griffin would not become elite my question was why so down on RG3?  Then jumping into the hype machine and talking some Super Bowl. He has a list players that he feels that need to step up. I dissect it and give my own spin on the task. We did agree that Bruce Irving will have to step up in the run game though. Hosts Garnett Lee and Jeff Cannata welcome in Shacknews' Ozzie Mejia and "Indie" Jeff Mattas to take a look back at last Saturday's VGX awards. After briefly looking at the show, in general, the topic turns to the many games that were on display, including Titanfall, No Man's Sky, Quantum Break, and Tales from the Borderlands. With the VGX in the books, it's time to focus on more microtransaction controversy, this time, as it relates to NBA 2K14. Then it's time to talk more games, with Garnett and Jeff sharing their respective knowledge to one another: Garnett teaches Jeff the intricacies of driving in Gran Turismo 6, while Jeff tells Garnett everything that he's doing wrong in Rogue Legacy. The show wraps up with a look back at Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Tearaway, Dead Rising 3, and more before concluding the week with new Finishing Moves and the post-show Tailgate.

This week we discuss announcements and nonsense at the VGX show, Super Smash Bros in Spring 2014, and the Miiverse coming to 3DS. Chris just bought Animal Crossing, which leads us to the absurd dealings of Tom Nook and catching sea shells. Joe laments the poor performance of his teammates in NBA 2K14 and Kyle threatens suicide while playing Hotline Miami. Finally, Dave thinks The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is the best game this year and Chris is lukewarm on the Xbox One.

Aufgrund von Personalmangel verschob sich unser play³-Podcast #121 von Freitag auf Montag. Nicht weiter schlimm, denn der guten Laune hat es keinen Abbruch getan. Eigentlich hassen wir ja Montage, besonders zu dieser Jahreszeit. Man muss raus aus der kuschelig-warmen Wohnung, muss das Feinripp-Unterhemd in die Ecke werfen und sich stattdessen etwas "Vernünftiges" anziehen und das Mittagessen ist auch nicht so gut wie bei Muttern, Frau oder Freundin. Weil aber gerade die PS4 durch die Redaktionsräume wandert und Bier im Kühlschrank liegt, lässt es sich dann doch einigermaßen aushalten. Und wenn wir uns dann noch für zwei Stunden im Keller vor der Arbeit drücken können mit der Begründung "Podcast!" ist sowieso alles in Butter. Und so ziehen sich dann diesmal auch Uwe, Viktor, Wolfgang und Sascha ins Untergeschoss zurück, vernichten gekühlte Gerstengetränke und plaudern dabei über Videospiele. Die Themen diesmal: das erschreckend mittelmäßige Knack, das noch viel mittelmäßigere Valhalla Knights 3, das im Gegensatz dazu fantastische NBA 2K14 (auch bekannt als "das Spiel!") sowie die gefühlten 8.537 Ankündigungen zur Persona-Reihe. Nebenbei beantworten wir routiniert und ohne jedwede Professionalität eure Fragen und schweifen dabei immer wieder auf unsere charmant-geistesgestörte Art und Weise ab. Gar keine Zeit! Joachim von www.stromstock.de und Tobi von www.appgemeinde.de sind in Hetze. Dennoch lassen sich die beiden ihr einleitendes hirnloses Gelaber nicht nehmen. Hörer quälen ist bei der StromGemeinde Passion. In medias res geht es um Shadowrun Returns von dem Joachim recht begeistert ist, mischt der Titel doch Elemente von Adventures und rundenbasierten Strategiespielen. Noch dazu ist das umfangreiche Sahnestück atmosphärisch dicht gewoben. Tobi verwirklicht seinen Traum vom AppGemeinde-Hauptquartier mit Bau-Simulator 2014. Mit Bagger, Bulldozer und Planierraupe schwärmt er vom Häuslebauen und Wiedereinreißen. Joachim unternimmt mit dem etwas angestaubten Titel Mage Gauntlet eine Zeitreise. Nach wie vor ist das Gehacke in den Dungeons empfehlenswert, etwas mehr Adventure- und Rollenspiel-Anteile hätten dem Titel allerdings gut getan. Ebenfalls reichlich Action gibt es im durch Kickstarter-finanzierten Fist of Awesome, das sich an klassische Arcade-Brawler anleht. Allerdings ist der Titel trotz witziger Anmutung zu flach, um langfristig Freude zu bereiten. Auch bei der Meinung über Mimpi herrscht seltene Einigkeit. Die Chefs von Stromstock und AppGemeinde schwärmen vom niedlichen Plattform-Adventure und haben lediglich an den wiederkehrenden Logikrätsel etwas zu meckern. Ohne Nörgeln geht eben nicht. Bevor sich Tobi über NBA 2K14 verbreiten kann, das sich nur für Spieler lohnt, die den Vorgänger nicht besitzen, schweift Joachim ab und mahnt die Hörer ihre Apps zu sichern. Wie im Fall von AirMusic, das das iPhone zum AirPlay-Empfänger macht und sicher nicht mehr lange erhältlich sein wird. Nicht ganz so von der Rolle sind die beiden Labertaschen von Giant Boulder of Death. Die Spielidee ist angenehm simpel, die Umsetzung ansprechend witzig – allerdings nerven die In-App-Käufe, ohne die man später nur schlecht vorankommt. Tiefgründiger ist da schon die iOS-Umsetzung von Terraria , das an Minecraft erinnert und bei dem der Spieler mit der Spitzhacke in einer Pixelwelt Träume von Turmbauten verwirklichen kann. Allerdings gefällt beiden der knapp ein Jahr alte Titel The Blockheads deutlich besser, zumal dieser gerade mit neuen Inhalten bedacht wurde. Für den Weg aus der Sendung springt Tobi in bester Hobo-Manier auf den fahrenden Zug: Er hat sich mit Transport General auseinandergesetzt und die solide Umsetzung des PC-Klassikers lässt es ihm warm ums Herz werden. Tobi findet aber den Absprung nicht und reist in die Vergangenheit zu seinem gutem alten Atari XE, den er heute nicht mehr besitzt und sich nun mit einem Emulator trösten muss.
