It's Friday, which means Rob Jenners, Robert Horry, and B-Dog are back to clear the table on everything that didn't make it into Tuesday's show. Episode 138 of the Shoot Around goes hard on KD's revisionist history, the top NBA salaries heading into next season, and a rapid-fire rumor mill that covers LeBron, Ja Morant, the Knicks' title defense, and what San Antonio needs to stay dangerous. First up: Kevin Durant went on a Barstool podcast this week and tried to explain why he left OKC for Golden State back in 2016 — claiming the Warriors were basically underdogs when he showed up. The guys are not buying it. At all. Rob runs through the receipts: 73-9, the 67-win season before that, the title, the back-to-back three-point records. Big Shot Bob's verdict? KD just be talking. Then it's a quick trivia spin on the top 10 NBA salaries going into next year. Steph Curry sits at number one at $62.5 million — at 38 years old. The guys try to fill in the rest of the list: Jokic, Tatum, AD, Giannis, Embiid, Jaylen Brown, Devin Booker, KAT, and Jimmy Butler round it out. Luka, for the record, is not on it. From there it's rumor mill time. Is Ja Morant actually movable, or does that $42 million contract scare everyone off? How long before LeBron makes a call — and does he go back to the Lakers, consider Cleveland, or is there an outside shot he links up with Giannis in Miami? The Knicks just won a title but James Dolan's already drawing a line at the second apron, which means Clarkson, Robinson, and Shamet are probably all walking. And San Antonio: what exactly do the Spurs spend their $44 million in cap space on to get back to where they were in the Finals? Harp floats Dwight Howard as a San Antonio option. Rob closes his laptop. The show pretty much ends itself from there. New episodes of the Shoot Around drop every Friday. Chris Mannix reported that the Celtics have been calling around about Evan Mobley as a potential return piece in a Jalen Brown deal, and Ken and Jason Lloyd dig into whether Cleveland should pick up the phone. Jason makes the case that wings win championships, that Mobley has never become the player the Cavs needed him to be, and that Brown is exactly the type of two-way wing that could finally push Cleveland over the top. Ken is intrigued but hesitant, arguing that swapping Mobley for Brown leaves the starting four as Dean Wade and creates a roster of essentially three guards, which he's not convinced is enough to beat Oklahoma City or San Antonio in a seven-game series. Both agree that Donovan Mitchell's relationship with Brown is a real asset in recruiting him to Cleveland, and Ken closes by noting that both OKC and Boston coveting Mobley says something important about how good he actually is.
0:00 .... Ross hello and welcome, introduces the panelists, and dedicates show #254 to Sam Mitchell, who was drafted #54 overall in the 1985 NBA Draft. 0:58 ... Giannis Antetokounmpo is now a member of the Miami Heat after the Bucks traded him on Monday night. The guys react to the trade and feel like the Bucks took a better deal from Miami than Boston was willing to offer with their package involving Jaylen Brown. 5:35 ... The Heat will need to add some shooting if they want to put a team out there that can compete even though they've added a Hall of Famer in Giannis. Ross feels that Miami can't go "cheap" and has to stay aggressive. 10:14 ... The Heat have been excellent at developing talent over the years and they will find some diamonds in the rough to complement Giannis and Bam Adebayo. 10:55 ... Ross shares his "wish list" of guys he wants the Heat to go after during the next few months. 12:00 ... The guys discuss the future for the Bucks after losing their best player. Ross feels like they may even improve on their record from last season under new coach Taylor Jenkins. Bruce was having flashbacks to 1975 when Milwaukee traded another superstar player who went on to great success with his new team. World B does not share Ross's optimism about the Bucks prospects next season. 17:10 ... Now that Jaylen Brown knows he was on the trading block, can he return to the Celtics feeling good about his relationship with the team and with fellow star Jayson Tatum? 21:49 ... Julius Randle is traded from Minnesota to Brooklyn in a three team trade that also has Nik Claxton going from the Nets to the Bulls and the Wolves shedding salary and signing Ayo Dosunmu to a contract extension. The deal frees "Nuclear Naz" Reid to start at power forward for the Wolves. 26:01 ... The guys examine the first round of the draft on Tuesday with an extended discussion of AJ Dybantsa to Washington, Darryn Peterson to Utah, and Cameron Boozer to Memphis. 30:12 ... The guys discuss the big winners in the first round ... Bruce likes OKC drafting 7'3" Aday Mara, who could develop into a defender that can battle Victor Wembanyama more effectively than Chet Holmgren did in the playoffs. 31:14 ... Bruce liked Sacramento choosing Alex Karaban, who reminds him of former Kings sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic. 32:38 ... World B liked the draft choices that Charlotte made with Christian Anderson from Texas Tech and Zuby Ejiafor from St John's. He also liked Kingston Flemings going to Atlanta as their point guard of the future. Ross really liked how Memphis snagged Karim Lopez at #21 along with Cam Boozer at #3 and also stockpiled some additional picks with some trades. 36:06 .... Biggest losers? Bruce cited the seven teams that did not have draft picks in the first round. World B felt the Nets messed up their first round pick by passing on Darius Acuff and choosing Mikel Brown. 38:21 ... Bruce has a final thought about his work on the NBA Draft between 2003-2017 when he was at ESPN. Watching the fantasy become a reality for the draftees and their families is something that he never got tired of witnessing 39:21 ... Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt — the popular Republican who has won all three of his mayoral elections with at least 60% of the vote — joins the Chuck Toddcast to make an impassioned and deeply substantive case for pluralism as the foundation of the entire American experiment. Holt, who recently gave a notable speech on the subject, argues that the American system was fundamentally built on the acceptance of pluralism and the idea that compromise should produce something "good enough" rather than perfect for any single faction — and that the founders gave us a pretty good system specifically designed to channel disagreement away from political violence. The problem, Holt argues, is that the system is now actively making compromise harder. He points to closed partisan primaries as a central culprit: because he faces all voters rather than a narrow partisan base, he's incentivized to build consensus, but most candidates today are forced to pass bizarre litmus tests with base voters and campaign on culture-war messaging rather than the bread-and-butter issues people actually care about. The conversation broadens into the structural and cultural threats Holt sees to a pluralistic society. He argues this era has revealed the long-ignored flaws in American democracy — that we've all taken the system for granted — and makes the case that getting rid of closed partisan primaries, sometimes through ballot initiatives, is one of the most important reforms available, provided it's done in a way that doesn't simply flip parties or states for partisan advantage but instead empowers minority-party voters to act as genuine swing votes. Holt is sharp on education's role in all of this: he worries that the voucherization of schools and the explosion of private schools risk teaching kids in ideological monocultures, and laments the erosion of civics education over the past two decades, noting that public schools deliberately deemphasized social studies after No Child Left Behind. He and Chuck dig into whether pluralism can even be taught or whether it has to be lived in a genuinely diverse place, the difficulty of having a nuanced public conversation about AI data centers, and the housing crisis that Holt argues is not getting nearly enough attention from either the national media or Washington — closing with a concrete look at what a federal housing bill would actually mean for a fast-growing city like Oklahoma City. Chuck Todd breaks down a seismic primary night in New York, where Mamdani-backed Democratic Socialist candidates swept their races — and argues the DSA may be on the verge of becoming the far-left equivalent of the Freedom Caucus, a small but disciplined faction capable of making the establishment's life genuinely miserable. The most stunning data point: Chuck argues Chuck Schumer likely couldn't win a Democratic primary anywhere in New York right now, that Dan Goldman lost his primary handily, and that while Schumer clearly shouldn't run again, politicians rarely walk away on their own. It was also a quietly bad night for Hakeem Jeffries, and Chuck raises the genuinely open question of whether Jeffries would even survive a primary challenge — and whether he still has a clear path to the speakership if Democrats take the House. The strategic lesson the left has internalized, Chuck argues, is that the smaller the Democratic majority, the more leverage a committed progressive bloc can apply, which means Democrats may have to govern in a fundamentally different way than their leadership wants. But Chuck repeatedly returns to the central tension: this brand of far-left politics plays beautifully in coastal cities but the socialist label simply doesn't travel well elsewhere, the rise of far-left politics has become uncomfortably intertwined with rising antisemitism, pro-Israel Democrats may soon find themselves politically homeless, and the real test will be whether progressives can win anywhere outside their urban strongholds. It all amounts, Chuck says, to a genuine fight for the heart and soul of the Democratic Party. He closes with a heartfelt remembrance of former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, who passed away at 100 — recalling a man who always grounded his opinions in data, and what a personal treat it was to have known him. 0:00 - CBS Sports published an article with the best and worst case scenarios for every NFL team this season. What did they write for the Broncos?12:53 - In the World Cup, we love seeing these tiny countries go toe-to-toe with soccer behemoths. Yesterday, DR Congo played to a 1-1 draw with PORTUGAL who has a played named, let me check my notes here, CHRISTIAN RONALDO. That's amazing. Just like Cape Verde holding Spain scoreless in a 0-0 draw. We always root for a chaotic underdog.Next, OKC is hoping to move into the Top 10 of the NBA draft next week. They certainly have extra picks they can package in a trade. Sam Presti has built the team by drafting young studs and developing them, which keeps the team cheap and under the aprons/caps/taxes, etc. Hmmmm...that kinda sounds like...what Calvin Booth wanted to do...32:46 - Oh, by the way...Rory is currently in the lead at the US Open. https://newsongpeople.com/messages/the-secret-strength-of-hidden-workWhat if the quiet, hidden seasons of your life aren't wasted time—but the very place where God is building what you'll need for what's next? Before David ever faced Goliath, he spent years in a field with sheep, unseen and unnoticed. But it was there—in the waiting, in the small battles, in the faithful work no one applauded—that he became the man who could stand before giants. God doesn't just care about getting you there; He cares about getting into you what you're going to need when you get there.

Hour 4 opens with NBA insider Brian Geltzeiler breaking down the Knicks–Spurs series after Game 3, where New York voiced frustration with the officiating following a physical Spurs win. Geltzeiler explains that San Antonio earned the whistles with a more aggressive style, made key adjustments, and hit timely shots down the stretch, while also critiquing the Knicks' offense, saying Jalen Brunson may be forcing too much and Karl-Anthony Towns needs to be more central to what they do moving forward. The conversation also turns to Giannis-to-Heat trade rumors, with Geltzeiler noting Milwaukee will ultimately prioritize the best return over player preference and mentioning OKC as a potential wild-card team in the sweepstakes. The hour then shifts into a major college football controversy as Joe and Hollywood react to the Brendan Sorsby ruling, questioning how an athlete caught gambling on his own team received such a light punishment and debating who actually enforces rules in today's NCAA landscape. College football insider Brett McMurphy joins to explain why the case has sparked national backlash, how Texas Tech's success and Sorsby's quarterback position magnify the controversy, and why the ruling could still be appealed, before also touching on broader instability in the sport and the unlikely but possible idea of an SEC breakaway or super league.
NBA insider Brian Geltzeiler joins the show to break down the Knicks–Spurs series so far and react to Game 3, including New York's frustration with the officiating. Geltzeiler explains why he believes San Antonio played a more physical style, earned the whistles, and made the key adjustments needed to win the game, while also crediting the Spurs for hitting clutch shots down the stretch. He evaluates the Knicks' offense, saying Jalen Brunson may be pressing too much while Karl-Anthony Towns needs to become a bigger focal point for New York to regain control of the series. The conversation also shifts to Giannis trade rumors involving the Heat, with Geltzeiler noting that Milwaukee will prioritize the best package over player preference and mentioning OKC as a potential suitor if the sweepstakes escalate
On this episode I chatted with Master Photographer and artist Heather Beadles about her unique business. Heather started her journey to portraiture long before she picked up a camera. Being the fourth generation Oklahoman to grow up on her family's 1889 Land Run Farm, family legacy is a integral part of her heritage. With a passion to encourage marriages and families, she studied Family Relations and Child Development at Oklahoma State University. After receiving a Master's Degree in Counseling she went on to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. It was about that time that she was given her first “real” camera and the love of capturing faces and stories was born. For over 15 years Heather has been honing her artistic skills in composition, posing, lighting and color harmony. Over time her portraits have evolved from photographs into hand-painted portrait art. By blending the crafts of photography and brush painting, subjects are no longer stuck with an artist's “interpretation” of how they look, and as a result her embellished mixed media portrait paintings have become highly desired by her clients. https://www.beadlesportraits.com/ Huge thank you to our sponsors. Mark Willard and former NFL tackle Ephraim Salaam open this week's show with their thoughts on the NBA Finals through the first two games... With the Knicks up 2-0 in the series, how likely is it that the Spurs could make things interesting? Was Wemby wrong to show so much emotion after beating OKC? Was he wrong to tell reporters things were "blurry" for him down the stretch of game 2? Later, Mark and Ephraim get into the blockbuster NFL trade sending Myles Garrett to the Rams in exchange for Jared Verse and multiple draft picks... How much better did the Rams get? Do we really think Aaron Donald could unretire for one more Super Bowl run? The guys also react to all the latest in the Brandon Aiyuk drama with the 49ers, Baker Mayfield's contract standoff with the Bucs, and more!
