Be the Thermostat of Encouragement!

"Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing." 1 Thessalonians 5:11  In a world that often feels cold and uninviting, we have the incredible power to be a source of warmth and encouragement for those around us. The simple act of lifting others can create ripples of positivity that transform not just individuals, but entire communities. As the saying goes, "We rise by lifting others." In other words, our support can elevate both the giver and the receiver. The story of Ruth and Naomi beautifully illustrates this principle. When Naomi faced hardship and loss, it was Ruth's unwavering loyalty that shone through the darkness. She chose to stay with Naomi, declaring, “Where you go, I will go; where you stay, I will stay” (Ruth 1:16). This act of steadfastness was more than just companionship; it was a promise to endure together through every season of life. Just like Ruth, we too can choose to stand beside those we care about, offering a shoulder to lean on when times get tough. Galatians 6:9 says, "Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Encouragement is contagious. When we lift someone up, we not only brighten their day but also enhance our own spirit. A true encourager changes the climate of a room, not by reacting to negativity but by radiating steady support and positivity. As Helen Keller once said, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." This collaboration in encouragement fosters a sense of belonging and strengthens our bonds with one another. Reflecting on my recent experiences, I recall a moment when I reached out to a friend going through a difficult time. A simple message of support sparked a heartfelt conversation that lifted her spirits immensely. It reminded me of the vital role we can play as encouragers, transforming not only the lives of others but also enriching our own hearts. The act of encouraging others creates an uplifting cycle that benefits both parties involved.  Hebrews 10:24 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”  Prayer for the Day!In the name of Jesus, I pray that the Lord help you to embody the spirit of encouragement and be a thermostat of hope, not just a thermometer of circumstance. May you set the temperature of faith wherever you go, lifting others with words of kindness and actions of love. May the Holy Spirit empower you to speak life, offer comfort, and inspire courage in those around you. In every situation, may you reflect Christ's compassion and joy, becoming beacons of light in a world that so often needs encouragement. Amen.

Gratitude Changes the Thermostat!

"Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!" Psalm 107:1  Imagine walking into your home and feeling instantly uplifted, I mean not just by the perfect temperature, but by a gentle reminder of all you have to be thankful for. Gratitude isn't just a word; it's a daily invitation to shift your mindset, turning ordinary moments into opportunities for joy. In a world that often emphasizes what's missing, gratitude helps you pause and appreciate what's already yours, creating an atmosphere of warmth that will open many doors. Let's consider the story of the ten lepers who approached Jesus for healing (Luke 17:11–19). After they were miraculously healed, only one returned to express his gratitude. Jesus remarked that this man's faith had not only made him whole but had also saved him. In other words, gratitude extends beyond mere acknowledgment; it brings wholeness to our souls. In our own lives, reflecting on moments when gratitude shifted our perspective can reveal how this powerful emotion alters our experiences and interactions. Hebrews 12:28 says, "Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe." As we navigate life's ups and downs, remember that "gratitude is the thermostat of the soul, so set it high, and you will see life feels warmer no matter the weather." When we practice gratitude, we recalibrate our hearts, enabling us to find joy even in the midst of trials. Just as a thermostat regulates temperature, gratitude helps us manage our emotional climate, creating a space for peace and contentment. Adjusting our thermostat for gratitude can be a game-changer. It will quietly reset the temperature of our hearts, transforming ordinary moments into cozy blessings. Whether it's a warm cup of coffee in the morning or a kind word from a friend, recognizing these small gifts can make all the difference. Remember, as we cultivate an attitude of thankfulness, we learn to appreciate life's richness, even when circumstances seem challenging. Colossians 3:15 says, "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful." Prayer for the Day!Dear God, thank You for the countless blessings You shower upon us each day. Help us to cultivate a spirit of gratitude that transforms our hearts and minds. May we recognize Your goodness in every situation and share that light with others. In moments of doubt and despair, remind us that gratitude can lead us back to joy. In Jesus' name. Amen.”

Setting Your Spiritual Thermostat!

Magnificent Life

"The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace." Romans 8:6 Are you feeling overwhelmed by the constant noise and distractions of daily life? In a world that never seems to slow down, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters and let your thoughts spiral. But what if you could reclaim your peace, find true clarity, and experience lasting transformation? Let's discover the power of setting your spiritual thermostat higher — because your life is shaped by your thoughts and how you respond to things around you (Proverbs 4:23). Let's consider the story of Daniel, who faced immense pressure in Babylon. Surrounded by temptation, he chose to refuse the king's food, opting instead for a diet that honored his faith. Daniel's choice was not just about food; it was about renewing his mind and spirit in a foreign land. By prioritizing his values over external influences, he demonstrated that true strength comes from within. Just as Daniel stood firm, we too can choose to cultivate a mindset that nurtures our spiritual health. Romans 12:2 says, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." As we reflect on our lives, we must ask ourselves: What does it mean to renew our minds? It means actively choosing thoughts that align with God's truth, allowing His Word to transform our perspectives. When we fill our minds with positivity and faith, we shield ourselves from negativity and doubt. Remember, "The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace" (Romans 8:6). In other words, our thoughts can either draw us closer to God or lead us astray. The external influences around us can significantly impact our spiritual health. Whether it's the media we consume or the company we keep, these factors shape our outlook and can either uplift or drain our spirits. Therefore, let us be intentional about surrounding ourselves with positivity. “Surround yourself with those on the same mission as you,” because community plays a vital role in our spiritual journey. Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." Amen. Prayer for the Day! In the name of Jesus, I declare that may your spiritual thermostat rise to new levels of passion and hunger for God. May your heart burn with fresh fire for His presence, and may every area of spiritual lukewarmness be replaced by zeal, faith, and steadfast devotion. May you be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading, always seeking deeper intimacy with the Lord, and may your life radiate His love and power. Amen.

“Money is a mirror of our relationship with ourselves and the world around us.”  Many people unknowingly sabotage their financial potential because of a hidden internal setting—what's known as the financial thermostat. This subconscious setpoint dictates how much money you feel comfortable earning, keeping, or even spending. Until you uncover and reprogram it, your income will keep hitting the same ceiling. This episode reveals the four steps to reset your internal programming and let go of beliefs that block financial flow—like “money is the root of all evil” or “I'm not worth it”—so you can open up to prosperity.  Guest expert Pericles Relles explains how your financial thermostat forms, why it doesn't budge easily, and how to dismantle unconscious blocks around money. He shares a powerful analogy about the energetic flow of currency and breaks down a four-step process to rewire how money enters, moves through, and accumulates in your life.  Pericles Relles is a transformational coach who has spent over 25 years helping thousands shift their money mindset. SEASON 3 EPISODE 124: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: The new Trump plot to beg, borrow, or steal a third term has dropped (that makes four different) and it follows the others in that a) somebody besides Trump has suggested it AND b) they've made it seem harmless AND c) they've made it seem like Trump has nothing to do with it and probably won't do it anyway AND d) they'll leave it to the will of the people to decide to convince him to, reluctantly, violate the Constitution. The twist in this new one is, it's positioned as: "The Constitution is Unconstitutional!" - namely, that because only the presidency is term-limited among federal offices, this must be invalid and overturned. Not that Trump wants it to be overturned. No, YOU want it overturned. Not that HE wants to stay on. But YOU will want him to. People are still not taking it seriously and still see the 22nd Amendment as a bulwark against any possibility of it happening. I'll review the other three plots and the fact that they've been working on them since at least 2017, and why you should never ever keep your eye off their machinations, nor forget the Trump Political Mantra: I'm going to do it - TRY AND STOP ME. STATE SECRETS PRIVILEGE: Trump and Stephen Miller are so scared that they won't get away with renditioning Kilmar Abrego Garcia that they have now thrown up the "State Secrets" crap to further stall his return. And they're talking about kidnapping people off our streets and sending them to Libya or Ukraine. And Trump's craziness continues to double as we get the back story on the movie tariffs and a redux on windmills and it makes me mad enough to SING ABOUT THE WINDMILLS IN TRUMP'S MIND. B-Block (49:30) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: The far right's open racism is on display as a Minnesota woman calls a five-year old the N-word and a million dollars is raised to defend her. Laura Loomer employs one of Hitler's first catchphrases. And they so distrust the Deputy Secretary of State that they won't let him touch the thermostat in his office. C-Block (58:22) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: This time of year in 1997 I saw a ghost. I know who he was. I know why he was there. I know why he was silently laughing at me. And I did what he wanted me to do. His name was Glenn Corneliess and there's a reason the new facilities of WVBR-FM in Ithaca, N.Y. are the Olbermann-Corneliess studios.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

ARE YOU A THERMOMETER -or- THERMOSTAT?

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, you're going to get a chance to discover if you're a thermometer kind of person -or- a thermostat kind of person.Basically, a thermometer just records the temperature. It registers the warm or cold degrees of the room it's in and lets you know what's happening outside of you and around you. It's a reflector of a space. While a thermostat actually sets and changes the temperature. It has control and can affect the world around it.To illustrate this point, and to come at it from a different angle, I'll first share a personal story about encountering different types of people - some warm and welcoming, and others cold and off-putting.Then I'll dive deeper into things, by drawing inspiration from the originator of this concept, Dr. Henry Hitt Crane, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who also did a sermon about it.I explore how rather than just passively reacting to the environment around you like a thermometer, we get to be a "thermostat" who can work to change or improve the environment or community it finds itself in.The core message is that we have the power to choose who and how we want to be. Instead of being reactive to society – we can be proactive and actually transform it!Developing a Daily Spiritual Practice (DSP) can also help you train your mind to be more aware and intentional.Whether it's meditation, prayer, or simply setting an intention each morning, you can learn to be a thermostat - someone who transforms the temperature of their environment through love, empathy, kindness, warmth, and positive energy! KEY TAKEAWAYS:• Thermometer vs. Thermostat• Choose Your Energy Wisely• Be Proactive, Not Reactive• Set Your Inner Temperature• Make History, Don't Be Made By It• DSP + Mind Training• You Control Your Thermostat• Transform Society Through Love• The Nest - Group Mentoring Program BIO:Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, Writer, Integrative Change Worker, Coach and Hypnotist.
