Who is Charles Ingram? He was a contestant on the British version of “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?” who ended up winning the grand prize of one million pounds.. But he went home with nothing after producers caught him cheating in a major scandal that caused him and his wife to live on in British infamy. --Written by Mike BedardEdited by Lewis Poggie--Join our Discord server!https://bit.ly/deepcutsdiscord--Pick up some Deep Cuts T-Shirts and other merch!https://bit.ly/deepcutsmerch--Get the official Deep Cuts shoulder patch!http://bit.ly/deepcuts_patch--Listen to our album, a 9 song rock opera about the rise and fall of Napster!https://open.spotify.com/album/63C5uu1tkzZ2FhfsrSSf5s?si=q4WItoNmRUeM159TxKLWew
Chris Duffy is a writer, extremely funny comedian, and host of the TED podcast How To Be a Better Human. He's also a former contestant on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? (answer: well, we all do, of course) where a producer asked what he would do if he won the titular million bucks and Chris said he would buy a lifetime supply of new socks. That's a bad answer, the producer said, but Chris stands by it. He loves the feel of new socks quite a bit and has many thoughts on sock selection based on length, material, and overall foot feel. He cares about socks a whole lot and, being the show we are, we let him go on talking about socks and you can listen while you fall asleep, giggling occasionally. Doesn't that sound pleasant? Sure it does.Learn more about Chris Duffy by visiting his website, www.chrisduffycomedy.com. Watch his Ted talk, "How to Find Laughter Anywhere" at www.ted.com. Workplace Weekly is back in session! Kicking off, reflect briefly on a recent controversy in Denmark's labor landscape. We discuss the accusations against a prominent union boss who is facing allegations of inappropriate conduct and the potential (lack of) ramifications for the union and the broader labor movement in Denmark, exploring the challenges of maintaining integrity and trust within organisational leadership. Fanny and Kate dive into the NLRB's recent decision that upholds employees' rights to discuss their former employers regardless of receiving severance. We got our H&H Legal Eagle to Mansplain the decision too, in case you want to know more. We explore the potential impact of this decision on the future of employee rights and workplace transparency. Next on the agenda, the hosts turn their attention to a highly anticipated moment: Howard Schultz facing Congress to answer questions about Starbucks and its alleged union-busting tactics. We play yet another round of "Who Wants To Be...," pitting companies against an AI to determine who can demonstrate allyship most effectively.Production CreditsWorkplace Weekly was produced by Kate Bailey (H&H Instagram / H&H Twitter) and Fanny Wandel (Twitter) for Hand & Heart Media, the publishing arm of Hand & Heart GmbH. May, 2001, Ireland. Two men arrive late in the morning on a cold and empty east coast beach. They are hungover. They are limping. They look at each other squinting. “This is it” one mumbled. “It’s done… Time to put on those headphones one last time…” It wasn’t one last time. Adgeen and Tony were back! And the Friday Rock Show ‘Brittas Bay’ special of ’01 was a masterclass in how to bottle a beautiful bowel movement. But they got by with a little help from their financially-induced friends. Dave O’Leary, Stephen Hawking, Ciaran Brennan, Neddy Tafler, Mr. Mellon, Gabbler, Leo McGregor and Paul Gombatuna all lent a well-remunerated hand in bringing the Friday Rock Show back on the air. Holding court among the bemused lobster-fleshed locals, bubbling farts in their ‘Rock Jacuzzi’, Adgeen and Tony sat on a Wicklow beach to present the first Friday Rock Show of the new millennium. They splash around, gurn, writhe and slap each other senseless in this epic summer special on Brittas Bay, Ireland’s ‘Premier Beach Attraction’ so someone says. You’ll hear some quite outlandish communiqués from our listeners. Jagger nearly spills hash into his pint while watching Celine gyrate beside his armchair. Neddy is so horny, his cock might explode as he soon gets his conquest ‘up the duff’. Baldy travels down to Wexford to fall in love with Becks from Coolgreany and proceeds to eat all her food. Then there’s Karen McGaa, who starts work at the ‘Donation Station’ in a sperm bank, soon to be hypnotised by Quentin’s larger-than-expected contribution. Finally there’s Gerry Dixon, who’s very angry at the ‘First Wives Club’ of his local GAA community, spitefully telling us they’re all ‘skulling back pints’, ‘riding in tractor sheds’ and ‘building a house next to the ‘mammy’’. Witness more spots than you can flick a snot at, with Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, Gabbler’s Sci-Fi Spot, The Tune The Box Spat Out, Don’t Fuck Up The Microphone and a bevy of promotional adverts to pick the sand out of your crack to. Adgeen and Tony dance in the moonlight with Toploader, roll with Limp Bizkit, go loco with the Fun Lovin’ Criminals, steal some sunshine with Len and play sssshhpiderman with The Ramones! And even the sun briefly came out too. It’s a mighty soggy sandcastle of a show. So throw down your towel and let The Friday Rock Show lash the air off your pimply blue skin with our Brittas Bay Special from 2001. "I thought we'd be together only in death." Danny Boyle's film about a poor teen from Mumbai who wins big on India's version of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire won the hearts of viewers everywhere, and it was released just in time to be nominated and snag a number of Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Featuring a yet-unknown Dev Patel, the film is a love story and a drama wrapped up and presented to Western audiences as a Bollywood fairy tale. Boyle walked away with an Oscar, proving to his critics that he could do more than make movies about drug addicts and zombies. Have a question or comment for the host?
