The calls to remove Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos have grown louder since the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie thrust his department into the national spotlight. But the people demanding action may not realize how few options actually exist. Nanos won reelection by just 481 votes in 2024. The Board of Supervisors has requested two separate outside investigations. Deputies within his own department voted no confidence. And yet, under Arizona law, removing an elected sheriff between elections is one of the hardest things to accomplish in American government. In this episode, we lay out the three paths that theoretically exist and explain why each one hits a wall. A recall election would require over 121,000 verified signatures collected in just 120 days — a logistical mountain with no existing infrastructure to support it. Criminal prosecution has been explored twice through Attorney General referrals, with one investigation closing without charges and the other producing no public action. And impeachment, the mechanism people invoke most often, simply does not apply to county officers under the Arizona Constitution. The legislature cannot impeach a sheriff. The governor cannot remove a sheriff. The Board of Supervisors cannot remove a sheriff. This is a constitutional reality rooted in Arizona's founding principles, and it affects every county in the state.Whether you support Nanos or want him gone, this episode is about the system — what it allows, what it doesn't, and what that means for the Guthrie investigation and beyond.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? In 2005 and 2006, Phoenix was overtaken by fear as a series of sudden, violent attacks spread across the city. People were assaulted, robbed, kidnapped, and killed in parking lots, gas stations, restaurants, and quiet neighborhoods. There was no pattern, no specific victim type, and no warning, making everyday life feel dangerous. As the attacks escalated, police realized they were hunting one person responsible for dozens of crimes. The suspect became known as the Baseline Killer, a man who moved quickly, changed disguises, and struck without predictability. Despite a massive investigation, he continued attacking for more than a year. The case finally broke when DNA from an early assault produced a match and a survivor recognized the suspect from a police sketch. Investigators arrested Mark Goudeau, who was later convicted of nine murders and dozens of other crimes, bringing one of Arizona's most terrifying crime sprees to an end.#TrueCrimeRecaps #BaselineKiller #PhoenixCrime #MarkGoudeau #ColdCaseSolved

A Note from Michael: The Thriving Farmer Podcast is currently on pause as we navigate a busy season on the farm. While we're taking this break, we're excited to share Farm in Focus, a special series of short, focused conversations recorded earlier this year. These bite-sized episodes highlight practical insights from farmers and experts across the industry. We hope they're helpful and encouraging as you continue your farming journey. What does it look like to rebuild—not just a house, but a sense of home—after loss? In this Farm in Focus episode, Michael sits down with Shawn and Beth Dougherty to talk about the journey of rebuilding their farmhouse after losing it in a fire. What began as a devastating loss became a catalyst for a deeply meaningful family project—one rooted in resilience, shared work, and intentional design. Shawn and Beth reflect on the emotional and practical realities of starting over, how their grown children contributed their skills to the rebuild, and the lessons they carried forward from their original home. From architectural choices that emphasize natural light and gathering spaces, to the importance of porches, durability, and legacy, this conversation is ultimately about belonging—on the land and with one another. This episode offers encouragement for anyone walking through loss, rebuilding something meaningful, or seeking to create spaces that foster connection, family, and community. In this episode, you'll hear about: Rebuilding After the Fire How the fire became the catalyst for a family-wide rebuilding effort [01:35] Why rebuilding was essential for a sense of belonging and continuity [01:35] The role of community support in their recovery [01:35] Designing a Home with Intention Lessons learned from their original farmhouse [10:58] Why natural light and open gathering spaces mattered most [10:58] How porches and outdoor spaces shape daily life and hospitality [10:58] Family, Legacy & Community How their children contributed professional skills to the rebuild [21:44] Building a home meant to last for generations [21:44] Why investing in family relationships is foundational to stability [21:44] Doing the right thing—even when it's hard [21:44] Bio: Shawn and Beth Dougherty have been homesteading together since 1985, for the past 35 years in northern Appalachia. They raise dairy and beef cows, pigs, and poultry on a small acreage designated by the state of Ohio as "not suitable for agriculture." The Doughertys write, teach, and speak on holistic grazing and inputs-free farming, using grass-fed ruminants to restore abused land and build fertile, resilient farmsteads. They are the authors of One Cow Revolution, The Independent Farmstead, and The Independent Farmstead's Field Guides to Inputs-Free Farming series. Links:

Chris Nanos won reelection as Pima County Sheriff by 481 votes. His own Board of Supervisors has twice requested outside investigations into his conduct. Deputies voted no confidence. He placed his political opponent on administrative leave weeks before the election. And now, with the Nancy Guthrie disappearance making national headlines every day, calls for his removal have intensified to a level rarely seen in county-level law enforcement. But what would it actually take to remove him from office before 2028?In this episode, we go beyond the frustration and into the actual legal mechanisms that exist — and don't exist — for removing an elected sheriff in Arizona. We break down the recall process and the math that makes it a near-impossibility: roughly 121,825 valid signatures in 120 days across a sprawling county of over a million people. We examine two Attorney General investigations, one already closed without charges and another that has gone silent. And we explain why the most commonly demanded solution — impeachment — is constitutionally off the table for county officers in Arizona.Drawing on the Arizona Constitution, the 2025 Arizona Supreme Court ruling in Sanchez v. Maricopa County, and the documented record of supervisors' attempts to hold Nanos accountable, this episode reveals a structural reality most people never consider. Arizona's framers designed a system to protect elected officials from political removal. That same system now makes meaningful accountability between elections nearly impossible. Whether you're following the Guthrie investigation or simply want to understand how much power an elected sheriff actually holds, this is the episode that answers the question everyone is asking.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? What she didn't expect was the feeling that something in the house refused to settle. The basement light wouldn't stay off. Footsteps echoed down the hallway when no one was there. Nobody wants war but after nearly 50 years of killing Americans and chanting "Death to America" it was eventually going to happen with Iran and their radical, oppressive regime. In an incredible show of military precision and strengh, Iran's leaders were taken out and their military operations have been pounded and are in chaos. To be sure, President Trump did exactly what he said he would do. He said it on the campaign trail, he warned them publicy and then he did it. If this somehow creates peace in the middle east, it will be his crowning achievement. A Kansas City mega church pastor is planning to run for US Senate and he's certainly well known. But not always for the reasons you may like. Andy Reid couldn't make it to the NFL Combine this year recovering from a knee procedure but he sure is upbeat about rebuilding his football team. KU gets beaten up pretty good in Arizona. Mizzou rolls and has a great shot at finishing 4th or higher in the SEC. Carter Jensen goes deep for the Royals. The Cardinals are discounting all you can eat tickets this year and Tyler Reddick wins for the third week in a row in the NASCAR Cup Series.... to start the season! And something is just a little fishy about our Final Final today.

Aguilera and Cox were 3.8 in the short round and took the win with the most money won at $24,218 a man. Arizona had La Fiesta De Los Vaqueros -- The Tucson Rodeo as well. Brye Crites and Ross Ashford came out on top with a 9.9 on two head for $7,034 a man winning $12,709 apiece with the round monies.

Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
Fifty thousand tips. A million-dollar reward. A suspect's face broadcast nationwide. And four weeks later—nothing. No identification. No arrest. No Nancy. You've been asking questions about the Nancy Guthrie case, and honestly, they're the same questions we've been asking ourselves. So let's get into it.Is Nancy Guthrie still alive? What does a month of silence with no ransom demand tell us? The DNA on those gloves didn't hit in CODIS—what's the next step? Genetic genealogy? How long does that take? How does law enforcement even process fifty thousand tips? Is it possible the real lead is buried somewhere in that pile and nobody's gotten to it yet?Nancy's pacemaker has a Bluetooth signal detectable from over two hundred yards. Helicopters searched for it. Found nothing. What does that mean? And the footage—it shows this man's face clearly. How is it possible that not a single person on earth recognizes him?The mixed DNA inside the residence raises questions about multiple contributors or contamination. The ransom notes were dismissed as fakes sent by opportunists. The neighborhood has cameras everywhere, yet no vehicle was captured. Could he have moved her on foot? Is there a property nearby he had access to?At what point does a case like this go cold? What resources get pulled? What can the family even do at this point? And the speculation online about connections to other cases—other missing elderly women, other home invasions in Arizona—has anyone looked at whether this could be part of a pattern?Your questions.
