In this candid conversation, Anna and Kendall discuss the realities of work-life integration for wellness practice owners. They challenge the concept of "balance," preferring to focus on integration and intentional choices around how they spend their time.As Kendall notes, "I think most of us mean integration when we say balance. Right. That we're hoping for in owning our own business is that we can go to our kids school and see their project... we can build our own schedule, we can have our weekends... and we can feel integrated and grounded."The hosts share practical strategies they use to maintain boundaries while acknowledging the inevitable overlap between business and personal life. They respond to questions about discussing business with partners and children, working from home, and preventing work from consuming family time. Both Anna and Kendall emphasize the importance of self-care, with Anna noting, "I take a lot of time off, and I'm unapologetic about it." They acknowledge that maintaining these boundaries is an ongoing practice rather than a perfect system. This episode offers realistic perspectives on work-life integration, with both hosts sharing their personal experiences, challenges, and strategies for maintaining wellbeing while running successful wellness practices.Get all the links, resources and show notes here: https://wellnesscentercreators.comSponsored by Jane App, Jane offers online booking, charting, scheduling, secure video and invoicing on one secure, beautifully designed system: https://jane.app/ Use code wellness1mo for a one-month grace period on your new Jane account.

First, Jed spoke with Dr. Anna Housley Juster about her new picture book "How to Train Your Amygdala." As the former Sesame Street Content Director, Anna has a deep understanding of how to communicate complex topics to young readers. In the book, the amygdala - the part of the brain responsible for the "fight or flight" response - is personified as a character who learns strategies to manage anxiety and stay calm. By making the science accessible and fun, the book empowers children to take an active role in regulating their emotions. Later, Jed chatted with Ashley Wall, the author behind the delightful "The Day I Had" book series and the founder of Mama Bear Books publishing company. In this episode I had the pleasure of sitting down with Anna Topliyski, an incredible Intuitive Guide. Poet and Artist, for a deep dive into Authenticity, Human Design, Gene Keys, and Astrology. Let me tell you, this conversation was packed with insights that I know will resonate with many of you. We explored the power of embracing all parts of ourselves - yes, even those shadow aspects we often try to hide. Anna shared how authenticity is actually the highest frequency we can embody, even higher than love. Isn't that fascinating? We also delved into how tools like Human Design, Gene Keys, and Astrology can guide us to our unique purpose. Both Anna and I opened up about our personal journeys with these modalities and how they've been instrumental in our healing and self-discovery processes. One of the things I loved most about our chat was our discussion on balancing intuition with analytical thinking. As someone who's often felt torn between these two approaches, it was refreshing to explore how we can honor our inner knowing while still using these spiritual tools as guideposts. Anna also shared about her upcoming Queen Frequency event (which I am part of too) which is all about embracing feminine energy, fostering sisterhood, and empowering women in both business and personal growth. We had a beautiful conversation about the importance of receiving - something I know many of us struggle with - and how it relates to preventing burnout and finding true fulfillment. If you're on a journey of self-discovery, looking to embrace your authentic self, or simply curious about these spiritual tools, I think you'll find so much value in this episode AND you are invited to join us for FREE for The Queen Frequency which runs live from July 16 to 20, 2024. Greetings, if you would like to support Free Gospel Church and our ministries, you can make a donation at FreeGospelAssembly.com. Thank you for listening. If this message has blessed you please share it, that others may hear! God bless you.(This call to patience and waiting happens in all our lives: a common experience in our walk with the Lord)Acts 1:1-11, esp. V. 4; Luke 2:21-40One Common experience in our Christian walk is to never stop waiting on the promisesof God: This is trusting perseverance. We all experience this in either the long form orthe short form. In Acts the disciples only had to wait 50 days, until the feast ofPentecost, to recruit the promise but for Simeon and Anna, and remember Abraham, itwas the long form trusting. Because in God's loving sovereignty, He retains the time andthe manner of all fulfillment and especially in the long time waiting situations He has His reasons: note Galatians 4:4-5.1) Sometimes we don't have to wait a long time; Acts 1:1-11 “only 50 days beforePentecost”2) Other times we must wait longer. This point is illustrated throughout the Biblebeginning with Abraham in Genesis and in Luke 2 with Simeon and Anna. Theyboth had important prophetic roles as to the identification of Jesus as theMessiah.a) Simeon was promised by the Holy Spirit that “he wouldn't die before hehad seen the Lord Christ!” (Luke 2:26). This implies that he was waiting along time. Then one particular day in God's time he was “moved by theSpirit to go to the temple courts just when the child Jesus and His parentswould be there. He then prayed and prophesied over Him a significantprophecy. God in perfect timing fulfilled His promise and Simeon did hisobedience verses 29-35.b) Anna even beats Abraham in waiting time, she was possibly waiting froma young married girl, her marriage lasted only 7 years. She spent the restof her life waiting or serving the Lord in prayer and fasting etc. She was 84years old when God's timing brought Jesus and His parents to her, toprophesy(verses 36-38). With God's help she was found faithful.3) To wait upon the Lord in the Bible does not assume passivity but activity.a) Both Anna & Simeon were actively waiting by serving in the temple bypraying and fasting etc: “Keeping occupied until He shows up.” oranswers. Consider the parable in Luke 19:12-27 who's message to thechurch is be faithful and diligent in serving God and His purposes untilanswers, even in the Long form. May the year 2024 be a prosperous yearfor your church and its servants and also for all our families and friends;may we experience a much more fruitful year of ministry, service andanswered prayer.
The podcast "The Dish on Health IT" is brought to you by Point-of-Care Partners, a distinguished health IT consultancy. In the opening minutes of the episode, the hosts, Pooja Babbrah and Jocelyn Keegan, set the stage for a dynamic conversation focused on the HL7 Da Vinci Project and its real-world implementation results.Introducing their guests, they warmly welcome Anna Taylor, Associate Vice President of Population Health and Value-Based Care at MultiCare, and Heidi Kriz, Director of Medical Policy and Medical Management at Regence. Both guests are not only accomplished professionals but also members of the HL7 Da Vinci Project, where they play pivotal roles as early implementers of the Da Vinci Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource (FHIR) Implementation Guides. The hosts underscore the key themes of the episode, which revolve around sharing insights from early implementation projects, understanding the tangible benefits and returns on investment, and exploring how their experiences in the Pacific Northwest can serve as a model for nationwide FHIR adoption. As the hosts and guests delve into the discussion, they shed light on the core issues they are working to address. Heidi Kriz highlights the existing silos in healthcare, where payers and providers often work independently, using different data standards and requiring access to multiple portals. They recognize the need to promote a common language and reduce the administrative burden of healthcare processes. A major area of concern is prior authorization, which often leads to delays in care. Their aim is to make the process more transparent and incorporate it into the provider's workflow, thereby automating several steps that currently require manual intervention.Anna Taylor supplements this perspective, emphasizing that their goal is to find a many-to-many solution that involves multiple stakeholders. With thousands of members to care for and thousands of providers to collaborate with in the MultiCare Connected Care ACO. To navigate the complexities of these relationships, they aim to streamline data administration, allowing more resources to be devoted to direct patient care. Open standard APIs, like FHIR, play a pivotal role in this quest for a comprehensive, interoperable solution.Jocelyn Keegan highlights the significance of implementation guides within the Da Vinci Project. She underscores the importance of repeatability and the need to get information to where it's needed, thus improving overall efficiency and user experience. The hosts and guests underline the role of collaboration as the linchpin of their endeavors. They emphasize the necessity of involving diverse stakeholders, including providers, patients, community organizations, and other contributors to the healthcare ecosystem. The objective is to create a harmonious and collaborative environment that benefits all parties involved.Heidi Kriz shares the story of how Regence, from a business perspective, became engaged in the Da Vinci Project. The organization's CEO and leadership recognized the need to enhance the member's experience, particularly regarding the prior authorization process. This realization prompted a series of discussions and plans to implement collaborative, interoperable solutions. In the early moments of this podcast, the stage is set for a conversation that promises to explore healthcare's complexities, emphasize the role of collaboration, and advocate for interoperability. The guests, Anna Taylor and Heidi Kriz, offer valuable insights from both the provider and payer perspectives. They highlight the need for automation, standardized processes, and the creation of a seamless healthcare ecosystem, ultimately aiming to enhance the patient experience and streamline administrative tasks. When asked about key insights or any “aha!” moments. Heidi shares that it was realizing the power of collaboration between a payer and a provider. The ability to come together to solve complex healthcare transactions and streamline processes marked a profound shift in their approach. The synergy between MultiCare and Regence in tackling a common goal was a testament to the potential of collaboration in the healthcare ecosystem.Heidi's second aha moment came when they went live in October 2022. After years of hard work and dedication, seeing their vision become a reality was truly amazing. The initial results were already impressive, but Heidi recognized that they were just scratching the surface of what could be achieved in terms of process automation and instant information delivery. She also highlighted the importance of involving patients in the process. The ability to provide timely information to both providers and members, enabling them to make the best decisions for their care, was a transformative idea.Another valuable lesson for Heidi was the necessity of embracing failure as part of the innovation journey. Adapting and making changes based on feedback and evolving needs was crucial, even if it meant not getting everything right the first time.As for Anna, her aha moment was realizing that the combination of a business-centered approach and the right technology expertise was key to success. It wasn't a matter of choosing between one or the other; both were essential. This perspective underscored the importance of collaboration between these two aspects of healthcare organizations.Anna also shared the concept of the "magic button," where providers found immense value in a simplified, streamlined process. The idea of having a single point of access to manage transactions and receive instant responses became a game-changer, simplifying the lives of providers and driving home the importance of automation. Both Anna and Heidi spoke about the remarkable return on investment they experienced. Anna cited the Data Exchange for Quality Measures (DEQM) implementation, where they saw immediate returns by closing quality gaps and receiving financial incentives. The investment in developing these open standard APIs proved to be worthwhile, not only in terms of financial gains but also in making providers' lives easier. The discussion revealed that the journey to healthcare transformation through initiatives like the Da Vinci Project is challenging but entirely feasible. Success hinges on a combination of collaboration, transparency, and a willingness to embrace change. The ability to iterate and adapt is essential, and organizations that strategically invest in these initiatives will position themselves for long-term success in the evolving healthcare landscape. In this podcast segment, Anna Taylor and Heidi Kriz discuss their experiences and insights regarding healthcare interoperability and the impact of open standards and APIs in the healthcare industry.Anna emphasizes the importance of embracing open standards and APIs, highlighting their potential to transform the healthcare landscape. She encourages organizations to take a close look at their current processes, especially if they are spending a significant amount of time and money on old-fashioned ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) packages. By adopting open standards and APIs, they can free up their employees' capacity, transform their culture, and ultimately improve healthcare.Heidi adds that the risk of not adopting these technologies is greater than taking the leap. She cites the staggering amount of money wasted due to the lack of open standards in healthcare and emphasizes the potential for financial savings and enhanced patient care through interoperability. She also stresses that putting patients and people at the core of healthcare is vital. Both Anna and Heidi underscore the importance of community collaboration, particularly through organizations like Da Vinci, which provide resources and support for implementing open standards and APIs. They encourage organizations to start small, focus on foundational changes, and build a culture of transparency and collaboration. As they conclude, they invite more providers and partners to share their success stories and experiences, urging the community to come forward and tell their stories to inspire and educate others. In summary, Anna and Heidi emphasize the transformative power of open standards and APIs in healthcare, the necessity of community collaboration, and the need to embrace change to improve healthcare for all. The discussion also highlights the significant impact these technologies can have on productivity, transparency, and patient care in the healthcare industry.Learn more about this and other Da Vinci Project Implementations: Da Vinci Roundtable Presentations: https://confluence.hl7.org/display/DVP/Da+Vinci+Video+PresentationsCMS Presentation: Catching FHIR: Lessons Learned from Achieving the First Prior Authorization Automation via HL7® FHIR® - https://www.cms.gov/files/document/hiig-august-2023-isc-speaker-slides.pdfFierce Healthcare Article: https://www.fiercehealthcare.com/payers/regence-multicare-team-fhir-enabled-prior-authorizationRevcycle Intelligence: https://revcycleintelligence.com/features/how-a-better-prior-authorization-process-is-rising-from-fhir News Coverage:KLAS Points of Light Award: https://www.mcg.com/client-resources/news-item/mcg-regence-multicare-klas-points-of-light-award/

This episode is brought to you by Sendlane. Not to denigrate other subscription services, but Shaker & Spoon isn't just "stuff in a box," insist co-founders Anna Gorovoy and Mike Milyavsky. There's passion, a knowledge base, an online community, and the recipe and ingredients. Early feedback to the box called it "a chemistry set for adults," Anna says. "People will stick with you if it's wonderful, if the cocktails are inventive, if everything is exciting and delicious," Anna says. "We've also always focused on the customer experience and aimed to go above and beyond in terms of the support that we provide to anyone who is contacting us, who needs anything, whether it's a problem with their package or just some mixology advice, you know, we're there." Anna says that listening to what people want seems so simple, but it's critical. Shaker & Spoon was a "bootstrap" company from the beginning, so how they spend money to advertise the brand is critical, Mike says because you're essentially paying someone to visit your storefront or website. "Your store needs to be ready," Mike says. "Your product needs to be ready. Your customer experience needs to be ready before you invite the traffic in...these are lessons you learn when you have no money." Shaker & Spoon isn't in retail stores yet, but it's a strategy that could come into plan. First up is a product aimed at the bar industry. Recently, the brand did a large fundraiser with proceeds donated to charities in war-torn Ukraine. Both Anna and Mike are from families that fled from the former Soviet Union. It's an experience that they translate into their business lives. "I sometimes think when you're fearful about things, it's a great example to put things in context," Anna says. "I mean, we love what we do, we do this business, and so forth. And we take the risk, and there's obviously a downside potential. But, you know, it pales in comparison to the kind of bravery (of) coming to a whole new country...it does put stuff in context, right?" In Part 2, Anna and Mike talk about: * What sets Shaker & Spoon apart from other subscription services. * How the brand has generated and cultivated its fan base. * Capturing the right audience for the website. * How to take a tour of the brand's website. * Future plans for a product for the bar industry, which has been reaching out to the brand to feature its cocktails. * The brand's footprint on social media. * The co-founders' thoughts on the Ukraine war - Mike and Anna are refugees from the former Soviet Union. For over thirty years Dr Suzanne Simard has done ground-breaking research on plant communication and intelligence. She is Professor of Forest Ecology at the University of British Columbia and the author of a gripping scientific memoir, Finding the Mother Tree, in which she reveals the highly complex ways trees interact and communicate. Suzanne joins Jessica in the studio. As the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, around 660,000 refugees, most of whom are women and children, have now fled Ukraine to neighbouring countries in the past six days. That's according to the latest data from the UN Refugee Agency. They say Europe could face it's largest refugee crisis this century. Many have fled to Poland where they have been welcomed in cities like Warsaw. But while many countries are opening their arms to refugees, the charity CARE International UK is warning that women and girls can be particularly at risk during widespread displacement in war situations, as they can face exploitation while trying to reach safety. Suzy Madigan is the charity's Senior Humanitarian Advisor on Gender and Protection. The Scottish Government is expected to introduce its long-awaited Gender Reform Bill at Holyrood tomorrow - a law that would make it easier for transgender people to obtain a Gender Recognition Certificate. The BBC's Scotland correspondent Lorna Gordon joins us to discuss. A person guilty of manslaughter or murder is already prevented from inheriting their victim's estate by what's known as the Forfeiture Rule. But should that law be extended to somebody guilty of domestic abuse? MP Florence Eshalomi is attempting to change the law after one of her constituents wrote to her. Tom Guha has had to deal with exactly this since his mother died and his stepfather's behaviour was found to have a direct link to her death. Tom clarifies the circumstances and Florence Eshalomi explains why she wants to alter the inheritance rules. Last month a new high-end sushi restaurant in Surrey came under scrutiny for publishing a dress code that asked women to wear “sexy black ankle-strap heels with a form-fitting top” or “bodycon dresses”. The restaurant has since apologised and changed the “sexist” uniform requests. Anna Sebastian is a Hospitality Consultant who has experience with hotels, bars and restaurants. Ed Sheeran says he never uses public urinals because it's so awkward when strangers want to get close to him. Both Anna & Raven had some awkward encounters with celebrities in a bathroom, but you won't believe what Anna witnessed a celebrity do in a public restroom! Have you ever seen a celebrity in a bathroom?! Who was it?
What is the definition of self-expression? According to Lexico, self-expression is “the expression of one's feelings, thoughts, or ideas, especially in writing, art, music, or dance”. It is an important aspect of mental health because self-expression is an excellent way to find the real version of oneself, become more balanced, and lead a happier life. Reconnecting with your inner child can help you rediscover what you love to do as a result. We begin self-expressing in childhood but usually forget how freeing it is as we grow older. Caring too much about the result and acceptance by peers is to blame. Anna and Nina share some personal experiences from when they were little, and we learn that they have a creative background in dancing and singing, respectively. Both Anna and Nina still love to do intuitive movement between client sessions to release the tension and feel lighter. They discuss the misconception that you need to be good at something to fully enjoy it. Instead, focusing on getting the feelings out should be your goal. Being a little bit dramatic is also a form of self-expression, and these extreme emotions could be a way to open up a dialogue with people around you. Feeling all kinds of emotions is perfectly okay, and taking a day off to be sad might help you get better instead of keeping everything inside. Connecting with other creatives is a way to encourage you to accept self-expression as it is and do what you want in that particular moment. Just letting your feelings out without any objective in mind can be very freeing. You might feel a bit uncomfortable because, after all, you are creating something and might want to share it with the world later on. Honesty is the key here. Your work should reflect your intentions, and it will be evident if you created something to express your true feelings or made it for an audience. Anna and Nina firmly believe that every person has a creative streak, and chasing perfection could hinder your self-expression. Anna shares her experience on how self-expression helped her build her circle of friends who all share similar interests.Listen to the episode on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, TuneIn, or on your favorite podcast platform.Topics Covered:The definition of self-expressionSelf-expression and mental healthNarrow conceptions of creativityBeing truthful and using it for self-expressionPushing past the fear and rediscovering self-expressionResources Mentioned:BCCSLexicoCharles HarbuttSpecial offer:Listeners get two weeks of our membership platform free by going to the website and using the How to Be Human option in the dropdown.Follow Us:How To Be HumanInstagramThe SoulUnity
This week Anna is joined by the vet, Dr Nick Thompson, to chat about a campaign he is fronting called ‘Ditch The Dry'. Talking about ‘ You are what You eat' and why overly processed foods like kibble, compared to fresh raw balanced complete meals, are damaging to your dog's health; and why pet parents could do better by their dogs, helping to minimise common but serious health conditions like diabetes, arthritis, heart disease and obesity. Passionate about highlighting why common dry food ingredients like rice, barley, maize, or corn, make high glycemic diets, which are pro-inflammatory and not species appropriate. And why an anti-inflammatory diet made from fresh meat and botanicals - like many complete balanced raw frozen options - simply promotes optimum health by using quality species appropriate ingredients like fresh, ethically sourced meat.Anna and Nick also discuss whether it's ethical for dogs to be Vegans, and de-bunk the notion that dogs are ‘omnivores', when dogs are simply biologically and physiologically designed to be faculatative carnivores - complete with a carnivorous digestive system. Both Anna and Nick are on the same page on nutrition, and as a vet Nick has been fighting for responsible, species-appropriate raw food feeding for over 25 years. They talk about the international Raw Feeding Veterinary Society (RFVS), as a great resource. As the founding member Nick highlights his pioneering worldwide survey of 79 vets and their experiences feeding raw food. Facebook: Holisticvet LtdInstagram: @holisticvetuk. The United States is facing an affordable housing crisis. Although the past decade has seen a growth in the number of renters in the United States, this growth has been marked by persistent affordability challenges. Rents have dramatically outpaced wage increases, leading to more and more cost-burdened households. And, most recently, COVID-19 has exposed the limited legal protections available for renters. In this episode, host Matthew Martinez Hannon interviews ABF Research Professor Anna Reosti about her sociolegal research examining the consequences of modern background screening practices for rental housing access. Then, Matthew is joined by Jennifer Litwak, Executive Director of Housing on Merit, a nonprofit organization with the mission to create a bridge to permanent affordable housing for vulnerable populations. Both Anna and Jennifer speak about what access to affordable housing looks like across the country, the obstacles facing low-income renters, and how the pandemic is impacting the way people rent. I had been podcasting all morning at this point, and Mykel arrived with Anna and suggested he buy a round of beers. The perfect start to a conversation, in my opinion. I had not met Anna before but quickly learnt she does incredible work in the fields of human rights, social work and public policy and had been travelling around Australia in a pop-top combi for several years listening to the stories of First Nations Australians. What followed was a great yarn that touches on the heart of why we wanted to update our name (to humans aren't robots). Both Anna and Mykel spoke so fluently about some of the challenges that face us as modern humans and the disconnect we often find ourselves in. I particularly loved the concept of Dadirri that Anna brought up - which is an indigenous term for 'deep listening' - something we should all practice more often! I hope you enjoy the chat and please check out both Anna and Mykels work, two shining positive rays of light in a sometimes gloomy world.
In this episode, the Have Fun and Play podcasters discuss the exciting Borderlands 3 announcements and gameplay footage, as well as the an interesting brush with 5th edition D&D. Myron, Anna and JT are all looking forward to Borderlands 3. The new game mechanics, like slide and mantle capabilities, look like they will add some variety to the game. And the individualized loot drops will certainly be a welcome addition. Tom learns that when playing with Myron, no loot is safe. Tom doesn’t sound convinced that the third-person looter-shooter is up his alley, time will tell if he gives the original remastered game a try on Xbox. In other news, Myron and Anna recently played a one-shot game of 5th edition D&D, and it was actually pretty awesome. Before the game each player participated in a game of Roleplayer to build their D&D characters. Both Anna and Myron agree that the simplified mechanics of 5th edition made for a faster playing game, while allowing for more opportunities for theater of the mind role-playing. JT and Tom both seem intrigued by the changes to the core system, but Anna will only agree to a version change if she can continue Caisis’ quest for her epic destiny. Tom suggests a one-shot 5E for the upcoming trip to Gencon. Stay tuned this summer to find out how the Gencon adventure turns out. In December of last year, we attended the first ever SaaS E[quality] unconference, organised by the Women's Work Institute and held in Toronto, Canada. In a room of about 100 D&I champions and leaders, we had a day of fascinating stories, provocative ideas and discussions around Diversity and inclusion challenges in SaaS. On the day after the conference, I sat down for a chat with the founders of the Women's Work Institute, Kristen Liesch and Anna Dewar Gully to hear their thoughts from all the interactions and to lay down some steps for pushing diversity and inclusion forward. A conversation we are bringing to this week's SaaS Revolution Show. Without prior experience in SaaS, Anna and Kristen approached the industry for two very specific reasons. One is that they believe the intersection of services and tech is where the best results can be achieved in terms of fixing diversity issues but also because as they reached out to leaders in different spaces to see if they would be interested in participating in a conference aiming to address this, SaaS was where they saw incredible uptake. Both Anna and Kristen are equality champions but as business strategists, they inherently believe that the topic of Diversity and Inclusion is a business objective above all and it needs to be approached as such. In that, every company should start with Why. Listen on to learn: What problems SaaS leaders experience when it comes to D&I Why diversity and inclusion remains an unsolved issue How should each business get to a clear Why diversity matters to our business? which will be more effective in bringing improved results Improving the diversity and Inclusion at both SaaStock and SaaS is something we will be putting much more effort in 2019. By our side, we have Zendesk, our Global Diversity and Inclusion partner. We already have started the #TakingStockPledge, and look forward to doing many more initiatives throughout the year so stay tuned.

Daily routines. This can be a tough one. Is any day the same? No. Is there a right or perfect time to carry out your daily rituals? No. You have to do what works for you. And we are all different. Try not to fall into the Comparison/Google/Scroll trap - what works for you, might not work for others. It is, however, good to get some routine into your mornings to get ready and “primed” for the days, and ultimately a successful one. Mornings can differ. That’s OK. There is a world of difference between driving a car and riding a bike when it comes to experiencing the world around you. One of the chapters in, "Why Haven't You Read This Book?" was written by one of our guests today, who join me to talk about why they chose to embark on a nationwide journey by bicycle. Both Anna and Peter are employed and are working while traveling and we talk about how they manage it all, problems that they faced, as well as about their experiences and impressions about human nature. I asked them for their recommendation on podcasts and books, as well as who could try such extensive biking tours. You can follow them up on their Facebook profiles and their page Shifts and Higgles.
