Alisa Childers and I had the honor of interviewing Jinger Duggar Vuolo, author of "Becoming Free Indeed: My Story of Disentangling Faith from Fear." You might remember her from TLC's popular shows, "19 Kids and Counting" and "Counting On." We discuss some of the legalistic teachings of Bill Gothard and how there was an ironic prosperity twist on his Life Principles doctrine. We also ask her about her journey of disentanglement and why deconstruction was not an option for her because of her love for Jesus and truth. She has a humbling and inspiring story.
This week, we dig in with the Duggars, once again! We're recapping season 2 episode 1 of Counting On, entitled "At Home and Away." In this episode, Jessa and the sisters struggle to fit about a thousand people into her and Ben's tiny home and they celebrate Thanksgiving... I mean, a Fall Feast. Enjoy!
Jill Duggar is known for her appearances on TLC as part of the reality television shows 19 Kids and Counting (2008–2015) and Counting On (2015–2017). On this episode, reality TV star Jinger Duggar discusses "harmful" false teachings, a nationwide police shortage — and more:NEWS STORIES:Recruiting and retention are two issues haunting police departments nationwide. Since 2020, a mass exodus of officers combined with record lows in new applicants has resulted in critical staffing shortages. As departments seek to win back the public and retain veteran officers, they're also getting creative to woo new recruits. From catchy videos, to signing bonuses in the tens of thousands, departments are desperate to fill vacancies. Others are turning to more transparency to build public trust. Both sides of the abortion issue are waiting for a federal judge in Texas to rule on a lawsuit that could force the FDA to withdraw chemical abortion pills from the market. This case follows the FDA's decision to expand access to the two-part drug regimen, allowing doctors to prescribe it via telehealth appointments for women to receive the abortion-inducing pills through the mail. The Texas lawsuit claims one of the drugs taken to induce abortion is not as safe as advertised and should not have received FDA approval back in 2000. And finally, three sex businesses have closed in north central Ohio over the last two years, according to Frontlines Ohio. Donna Holbrook who owned two of those strip clubs told the outlet after she and her husband gave their lives to the Lord, "their hearts changed." Now working in real estate, Holbrook also volunteers with a local ministry to help victims of sex trafficking in the Mansfield area. [CW: child ab*se, SA] The first time we met the Duggar family was in a one hour special we discuss at (10:25) called "14 Kids and Pregnant Again", a whimsical look at the day-to-day life of a seemingly loving family. It would go on to evolve 4 more times from 17 Kids and Counting to 18 Kids, 19 Kids its final form, Counting On. We talk about the shiny, glossy side of the show and the sinister undertones of it's rigid and cult-like nature. Their shows were brought to a screeching halt in 2020 by the most horrifying scandal of Josh Duggar. This is the most grim "Where Are They Now?" the show may ever have, with a look back and how different reality is from how we treated cults in the early 2000s. As a former attorney I have so many thoughts about Erika Jayne and what she's going through with her divorce from Tom Girardi. It's all playing out on this season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I tried to quit watching housewives and made it almost a year and a half but now that I have access to it I couldn't help but dive in to find out from Erika the truth of her relationship. I'm surprised to realize the work I've been doing on rooting out patterns of emotional abuse in my own life play into how I perceive their relationship and the lawsuits against Erika. My recent retread into RHOBH this season means I've gotten to witness--and fall in love with--Kathy Hilton. She's hilarious and relatable as someone who seems to enjoy chill and worthwhile conversation as much as I do. She's the mother of Paris and after watching Paris' documentary about being abused and traumatized at a boarding school for troubled teens I have so many thoughts about both of them and what happens when you repress a child's natural personality. I'm reading the book Wired that Way and highly recommend it as a guide to learning how to love the different people around you! Jason Cousineau and Eric Renderking Fisk discuss the history behind the arrest of Josh Duggar by the US Marshals and Homeland Security on charges of downloading and possession of Child Pornography. This show explains how Bill Gothard's Advanced Training Institute from Institute in Basic Life Principles teaches students how sexual molestation and child rape victims are to blame for their own assault. Could it be that the "The Learning Channel" that broadcasts The Duggar's "19 Kids and Counting" and "Counting On" show are somehow responsible for some of this? Could the legions of fans of this show who fawn over these Reality TV show celebrities via their social media accounts be enablers to actual child abduction, rape, and murder? You know... the children who were in those pictures and videos Josh Duggar was enjoying when his wife Anna was taking care of their six - soon-to-be-seven -children? And imagine for a moment... what if a cable network did a Reality TV show on The Making of The Fedora Chronicles and offered us millions of dollars? Would Jay and Eric have the strength to say no? Or demand concessions on their contracts? And could they get a better class of groupies? Jason Cousineau and Eric Renderking Fisk discuss the history behind the arrest of Josh Duggar by the US Marshals and Homeland Security on charges of downloading and possession of Child Pornography. This show explains how Bill Gothard's Advanced Training Institute from Institute in Basic Life Principles teaches students how sexual molestation and child rape victims are to blame for their own assault. Josh Duggar is a former television personality and political activist. He is best known for his appearances on the reality television series 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On. The eldest child of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar's 19 children, Duggar was the executive director of FRC Action, a lobbying political action committee sponsored by the Family Research Council, from June 2013 to May 2015, when news broke that he had molested multiple under-age girls, including four of his sisters, when he was aged 14-15. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/biography/message
On Thursday, former reality TV star and right-wing lobbyist Josh Duggar was arrested by U.S. Marshals; Friday, news broke that Duggar is charged with receiving and possessing child sexual abuse images. These aren’t the first allegations of sex crimes against children for Josh Duggar; in 2015, In Touch Weekly reported that between 2002 and 2003 — when he was 14 and 15 years old — Duggar molested five girls — four of whom are his sisters. Cable channel TLC canceled the Duggar family’s reality show, 19 Kids and Counting, after these allegations surfaced. But the series continued in the form of a spin-off, Counting On. What appears on its face to be an upbeat reality show about a large family is also a window into the all-embracing conservatism of some Christian fundamentalists in the United States. Brooke and Katie are a little late with this week's episode but better that than never, right? We react to the breaking news of Josh Duggar's arrest with no bail, realize that IBS warriors are all hot, and wait with anticipation for the release of BTS' upcoming single, Butter. We also talk about Justin Bieber's dreadlocks, the Oscars flopping, and our small selection of movies that never get old for us. We also discuss 90s/early 2000s country and Chr*stian music slapping, and how humiliating it is to show people your crush.
This week, we finish up Season 10 of Counting On. There are way too many pregnancies to keep track, with 4 babies due in November in the family, it's gonna be the baby-pocalypse. We get through a birth, a death, a photoshoot and a marriage retreat where the Duggar couples make some nests for the sake of their relationships. Come hang out with us!
This week we continue Counting On season ten, and dunking on the Duggars. We chat about the hate for Felicity, the unpreparedness of the Duggars (as usual), and we figure out which of the Duggars would make it in Los Angeles. Come hang out with us!
Hello everyone! We are back this week finishing up Season 9 of Counting On. We talk pregnancy, planes, preparedness and planning (or lack thereof). John David gets married, the Abbie gown is created and we all get really, really uncomfortable for their first kiss. Come hang out with us!
This week, Megan and Gillian return to Tontitown for season 9 of Counting On. This week we get into planes, planes, planes and planes. Wait, I mean we talk about John David and Abbie, Jinger Spicy, and the Worst American Bake Off. Come hang out with us!
This week, Megan and Gillian get into the second half of Counting On, where apparently every woman is pregnant - moms, grandmas, daughters, sisters, wives, everyone is popping a baby out! We dish on Austin's nostril heredity, demonic spawn, and white lady baby name conventions. Come hang out with us!
Megan and Gillian dive into Counting On season 3 this week! Jinger's bulging eyes, the Duggars' general lack of observational skills, and Jeremy's sordid satanist history all are on the chopping block today. If Jinger is the rebel Duggar, then Amy is the black sheep. Fans will remember Cousin Amy from ‘19 Kids and Counting,’ because it seemed like she was always visiting the Duggar compound to hang with her BFF, Grandma Mary. She recently surfaced in a scene from ‘Counting On’ after nearly a year out of the spotlight, so we’re diving into her history with her family, looking into her not-so-strict upbringing, throwing it back to her failed music career, and figuring out what Amy has been up to now that she’s stepped out of her famous fam’s shadow. Another day, another god awful Jill Duggar recipe! The Counting On star has been #blessing us with her questionable looking meals and we just can’t look away. Whether it’s her Cheesy Chicken and Rice Enchiladas, her stew made with ONLY canned ingredients, or her “refreshing” chicken salad, it’s clear Jill needs to take a cooking class ASAP — and obviously not from her mama Michelle. Just in case you forgot about S1E1, there's a lot of vague talk about Josh's *antics*, making a hat fit for a baby girl by putting a bow on it, and some bonkers lighting. Like this godless pod? In 2001, Charlie and Sabrina Balducci allowed MTV cameras to follow them for four months before their wedding. The two spent most of their segments bickering with each other, but what viewers remember most is the infamous scene between Charlie and his limo driver. When the driver was late picking up the groom he threatened him, telling the driver over the phone, “I will gut you like the piece of shit that you are … I will hunt you down like cattle and gut you!” They discuss how they were cast for the show, immediate reaction to the episode, and their life now with two teenage boys.
