Welcome to Day 2614 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2614 – The Road To Jerusalem: Why Are You Looking Among The Dead For Someone Who Is Alive? Putnam Church Message – 04/20/2025 Sermon Series: The Road to Jerusalem Message 3: Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? Last week, we explored The Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. We answered the question, How do we respond to Jesus' Triumphal Entry today? 1) Believe that Jesus is the Messiah. 2) Serve him as King. 3) Proclaim his praises. This week is the third and final Easter message about The Road to Jerusalem. Today, ask the question, Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? The passage we will cover today is Luke 24:1-12, pages 1642-1643 of your Pew Bibles. INTRODUCTION: Today is Easter, Resurrection Sunday. We have followed Jesus and his disciples on the road to Jerusalem in the last two weeks. Last week, we witnessed Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. But a lot happened in that one week between Palm Sunday and Easter, this week that we often call Holy Week. Let me recap the events of Holy Week for you. On Monday and Tuesday, the conflict between Jesus and the religious leaders escalated as he drove out the merchants in the Temple Court of Gentiles. On Wednesday, Judas met with the religious leaders and arranged for Jesus' betrayal. On Thursday, Jesus met with his disciples in the Upper Room and shared the Last Supper with them. Later that night, Jesus was arrested while praying in the Garden of Gethsemane. Early Friday morning, Jesus was tried before Pilate and sentenced to death. By Friday evening, Jesus was crucified, dead and buried. Saturday was a Sabbath day of rest. And so, at last, we come to Sunday morning. Only seven days had passed since the triumphal entry, but so much had happened in between. Imagine how the disciples felt at this moment. They were in shock from the events of Thursday and Friday. They were in mourning over the death of their Lord and friend. And they were hiding in fear for their own lives. Jesus had warned them that the road to Jerusalem was the road to suffering and the cross, but somehow, they did not understand. But now Sunday morning had arrived, and everything was about to change. (Read Luke 24:5-8 and pray.) 5 The women were terrified and bowed with their faces to the ground. Then the men asked, “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? 6 He isn't here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee, 7 that the Son of Man[a] must be betrayed into the hands of sinful men and be crucified, and that he would rise again on the third day.” 8 Then they remembered that he had said this. OPENING PRAYER “Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is alive? (

Chinese 'military unification' influencer 'in theory' must go by 24th Interior Minister Liu Shi-fang says a Chinese national who advocated for China's annexation of Taiwan through military force should, "in theory," leave the country within 10 days of receiving her deportation order. According to Liu, the woman received that deportation order on Saturday. Speaking during a legislative hearing, the interior minister said the deportation order is "somewhat similar (相似的)" to registered mail - where the time starts from the day after the recipient receives the letter. .. and if "it was delivered to your house but you didn't receive it until the next day, then counting would start from the third day, which means there is some wiggle room." The statement comes after the National Immigration Agency this past weekend announced that a deportation order had been sent to a woman identified by a public social media account known as "Yaya in Taiwan." St. Kitts and Nevis foreign minister visits Taiwan The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Saint Kitts and Nevis' foreign minister is visiting Taiwan this week. Israel Launches New Strikes Against Hamas Israel launched new strikes against Hamas and promised ‘increasing military force' after talks on on further hostage releases stalled. Early Friday morning, Israel's Prime Minister's office said it instructed the army to strike Hamas across Gaza. The statement said it was because of Hamas' repeated refusals to release its hostages and its rejection (拒絕) of all offers it received from the U.S. presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and mediators. The strikes come after nearly two months of a ceasefire to pause the 17-month long war where dozens of hostages were released for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. Hamas is believed to have 24 living hostages and the bodies of 35 others. Sweden Gives Uganda Funds for Ebola Sweden has announced new funding of $2 million to support Uganda's response to the ongoing Sudan Ebola Virus Outbreak. A judge ruled he was illegally squatting inside Katrina Freitag's property and had to vacate the premises immediately. But last minute, Hickey's attorney convinced the deputies on scene to contact their supervisor, who in turn told them to stand down for now.Earlier this year, Steve Hickey told Brandi Kruse he would move out of the Ravensdale house he was staying in if the judge ruled against him. Well the judge ruled against him, effectively making him a criminal squatter in the eyes of the court since he's now trespassing. Katrina Freitag is the rightful owner of this house. But Hickey is still refusing to vacate the property and a showdown with law enforcement is now inevitable. Somebody help this man come to his senses. He's now starting to believe his own lies. But in this recent video, Hickey boasts about making tons of cash as a social media influencer through social media revenue, sponsorships, and licensing deals with tv stations. By my estimate, Hickey likely clears more than $200K a year.

Early Friday morning, Israel conducted a "limited" strike on Iran in retaliation for Tehran firing a barrage of missiles and drones at the country last Saturday. Reports suggest Iran doesn't have immediate plans to respond to the most recent attack. However, U.S. lawmakers fear a wider Mideast war is on the horizon, with the House proposing several bills throughout the week. One such bill passed that would redesignate Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen as a terrorist group. Senior Fellow and Military Expert at Defense Priorities Daniel Davis joins to discuss the current state of play in Iran. House Democrats took an abnormal approach and helped Republican leaders move forward with a test vote that could advance a bill that would provide $95 billion in aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) faces pushback from some House GOP members who feel that Congress should not pass the bill without including provisions for the Southern border. Speaker Johnson's fate lies in the hands of the vote, with some Congressional Republicans threatening to oust him. The House will officially vote on the bill on Saturday afternoon. Two burglars broke into City Drugs in the pre-dawn hours of Friday, Oct. 7 and made off with prescription medicines. The two men, believed to be African-Americans, were dressed in black and wearing masks when they threw a cinder block through a front glass window just before 4:30 a.m. A crowbar was used to help gain entry and one of the burglars went in and straight to where the medicines are kept and took approximately 1,500 oxycodone pills, said Danlee Eckstein, investigating officer for the Grove Hill Police Department. Bitcoin enjoyed a 6.5% rally on Friday morning to bring its exchange price to a two-week high of US$20,500. Gains were still being added at the time of writing though for what it's worth, Bitcoin's dominance against the broader crypto markets still seems to be falling. Ethereum is also at a two-week high of US$1,700 after adding around 4% this morning, with continuing bullish action observed at the time of writing. As a result, the crypto markets shot through the US$1tn barrier. All large-cap network tokens including Cardano, Solana, Polkadot and Polygon added between 5% and 10% of their respective market capitalisations. Terra Classic (LUNC) remains the top performer over the past seven days having almost doubled its market cap to over US$3bn, although this morning saw a 2% reversal. Oracle network Chainlink and highly scalable blockchain solution Cosmos (ATOM) were also strong risers this week. On the flipside, fan-engagement token Chiliz and centralised finance platform Nexo were the biggest losers, having encountered double-digit losses. In the decentralised finance (DeFi) space, total value locked across all protocols has remained essentially flat over the past week, and currently stands at US$59.5bn.

The Certified Lover Boy era is once again heating up. Early Friday, Drake fresh off his investment in a plant-based chicken company shared a fairly lengthy preview of a new song. If the caption is any indication, the track in question could potentially end up with the title “Fair Trade.” Lyrically, the song sees Aubrey reflecting on “losing friends and finding peace” while lamenting the “dirt” thrown on his name by unnamed individuals. Per Drake, that dirt has since turned to soil, allowing him to grow up out of it. Elsewhere, Drake tells a mystery person he's “gotta be single for a while” because “you can't control me.” He also disputes imitation being a form of flattery, stating it's instead “annoying” to him. Don't save him, cause he don't wanna be saved. Early Friday morning, an article from Rebecca Stevens A. on Medium, a site for amazing writers, hit my phone. It is entitled, "Is it True What They Say about Sex With Black Girls?" Read it here: https://medium.com/illumination-curated/is-it-true-what-they-say-about-sex-with-black-girls-223333aeb10d I immediately thought, "What do 'they' say?", as I read the article. I know what I've experienced; however, I wanted to hear what someone else who lived mostly outside of the United States experienced. Would we be similar? Would we be different? We had a similar experience as black girls growing up. The article resonated with me and it resonated with Ashley, my co-host. We are, indeed, two spectacular, single black women navigating a cruel world courageously. I immediately alerted Ashley and this podcast episode was born. Wait, let me back up... it's not really an episode as much as it is an experience to be had and savored, if you can stand the heat. We provide a 30 minute warmup prior to diving into the deep, and I'm warning you that we go deep. There are many words that people who are NOT black women use to describe us. I say it's time to take back the narrative and the power from those who do not walk in our shoes. As we continue Season 2: Relationships, Passions, Obsessions - this episode promises to be one of the most provocative yet. We challenge YOU to tune in, take notes and give us feedback. Early Friday morning, Kathrynne (15) got on a plane to fly to Suriname (in South America) for 9 days with a teacher and a small group of girls from school. (This picture was taken at a park there yesterday.) This is the girl who — just 5 years ago — was scared and completely uncomfortable to be around kids her age. This is the girl who has struggled with so many panic attacks and anxiety. The girl who was incredibly angry with us when we made the decision to put her in school after always homeschooling (she was so fearful of having to be around kids she didn’t know and to be in so many unknown situations all day long). This was the girl who was terrified to get on a plane to South Africa with us just 4 years ago. It’s our heart’s desire to raise self-sufficient adults, not co-dependent children. So over the past 5 years, we’ve slowly pushed her to do a lot of uncomfortable things, because we knew the only way she would grow wings and fly was if we gently nudged her out of the safety of our little nest. We often wondered if we were making the right call and we spent a lot of time crying out to God for wisdom and direction for the next step. God has been so faithful to give us wisdom — even when it’s meant making really hard calls (like quitting homeschooling). We look at her now and see that is was SO worth it — she’s a confident, outgoing 15-year-old with more friends than we can keep track of and a social calendar we struggle to keep up with. A girl who loves Jesus, life, adventure, travel, and people. A girl who excitedly jumped at the chance to go on trip to Suriname (her first international trip without us)! We’re still finding our way in what it looks like to parent teens. And I know we’ve made plenty of missteps. But we continue to just look to the Lord to give us wisdom for each new day, each new situation, each new unknown... and we trust Him to be faithful! Also, watching your kids go on their own adventures, jump out of their comfort zone, stretch themselves, and live courageously is one of the most rewarding things as a parent... even if it involves a lot of our own letting go!

As tensions between the two nations escalate, countries around the region appealed for calm. We'll talk about what might come next.

This week's show starts by examining Trump's ever changing statement on Charlottesville, VA. Trump would end up setting a more measured tone renouncing Neo-Nazi's and other hate groups, but then on Tuesday Trump became combative with reporters and argued there are two sides to the story, specifically calling out the “alt-left.” The shift has seemingly shaken the White House as Trump goes off message again. Next, we look specifically at the ever evolving White House. This week it is the exit of Bannon. Early Friday news broke that Bannon had mutually agreed to leave, but that afternoon it became clear that Trump had asked him to step down. By late Friday reports emerged that Bannon would be returning to Breitbart. We talk generally about the White House churn and, specifically, what a “freed” Bannon means both for the news cycle and the White House. After that the Guys discuss Hope Hicks, the 28 year old interim communications director. We also respond to some listener mail.
