Now that the majority of people are working from home, how does the idea of the digital commute come into play? Visit https://www.bodyshotperformance.com/topic/podcasts/ for the complete show notes of every podcast episode. Topics Discussed in this Episode: How the absence of a commute has affected people’s daily life and wellbeing The idea of the digital commute What my digital commute looks like Key Takeaways: A lot of people used the time they spent on a commute to decompress or to gear up and gear down for work. Beyond just getting to and from work, the time that people spent commuting was an opportunity for them to get their head together as well as decompress. The digital commute is people creating time for themselves to have the “commute” that they used to have by simulating their journey to work and use it as an opportunity to get some headspace and think and plan ahead. Action Steps: Do your own version of the digital commute. Do things that fit the DOSE principle: dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, endorphins. Reverse the digital commute at the end of the day and do something to decompress, so when you walk back into the house, you feel like you’ve had a bit of distance between work and finishing. Leanne said: “Whatever you do, make sure it fits with this principle of DOSE… which is dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, endorphins. Something like human touch, human contact, produces lots of DOSE.” “Don’t wait for [your employer] to mention the digital commute. This is something you can carve out of your own time or just have the autonomy to carve out of the day.” If you want to register your interest in some of the ideas that I’m putting together with Bodyshot Performance, send an email to anne@bodyshotperformance.com. Welcome! Friday is always one of my favorite days of the week. I love getting to hang out with some awesome people on our coffee talks. If you’d like to join our live Friday jam sessions, head over to takeactioncrew.com. We’d love to have you join us! Once you’ve joined, you’ll be able to ask your own questions each week to help grow your business. Today we’re going to talk about how to run Facebook ads for your brand and everything you need to know about how to get started. Keep in mind that you always want to start by planting seeds and build out content from the start to avoid putting all your efforts into one platform. However, it can be frustrating to wait for months for that content to bring organic traffic to your website. So, there is definitely a time and place to use Facebook ads. It allows you to instantly drive traffic and get eyeballs on your content. However, you have to consider that when you’re paying for ads, you need to find a way to recoup the cost and make money. That’s why I always suggest selling digital products to start. You can also start by creating your email list, which we recently taught how to do in our email fast track workshop. Remember, consistency is key. If you are posting on Facebook every day, you have a good chance of getting in your audience's feed. The more that they interact with you, it lets Facebook know that they want to hear from you. However, you won’t get full reach without paying for ads. How to Use Facebook Ads To Grow Your List If you don’t have an email list and don’t want to wait for months to see progress, I recommend paying for Facebook ads to get a head start. All you’ll need is to build a lead magnet and landing page. Even if you don’t have anything to sell them yet, you can use the content you’re creating to drive traffic to your website. I would pay for up to 1,000 subscribers without having a paid product. Because once you have a list, you can sell to those people in the near future once you do have products ready to go. Once you have your list, you can ask people directly what content they are looking for to help make the content creation process easier. You can also build a list by doing a giveaway as another option if you don’t have your lead magnet ready yet. The quality will be less than leading people to a lead magnet. However, it’s much cheaper to get leads. You have multiple options, so there is nothing stopping you from taking action now! The Value of Selling a Digital Product I recommend starting with a digital product, and you can incorporate a physical product later down the road. This helps keep your funnel going so you don’t run out of inventory and break your process. Start with offering a digital product on the thank you page of the lead magnet, and you can sell your physical product after that. Remember, once you capture a person’s email, you’ll be able to reach out to them on a regular basis, so you’ll have plenty of time to sell your physical products. Once you start to see your lead magnet converting at 20-30% on the front end, you need to get a digital product created quickly so you can start bringing in some revenue. When you start sending out emails, ask yourself what you’re putting in front of people that you can start recouping income from. It can be as simple as adding affiliate links to your blog post or implementing ads to your website. Coffee Talk Q&A Q: How far out should I start to promote my workshop? A: In all honesty, it just depends. I recommend starting out promoting two weeks out at the most. You want to keep it close enough that people will keep your workshop top of mind. It’s also essential to make sure that you provide frequent updates as you get closer. You want to keep in touch with those who have already signed up for your workshop and are waiting for it to start, as well as those who haven’t signed up but are still interested. Q: Should I create an ebook or mini-course first? A: I would say you should do whatever is going to be the easiest. For me personally, I recommend starting with an ebook or guide first. You can easily use the content that you’ve already created in the past to create a rough draft, so it should take too much time compared to getting a course ready to go. It’s also usually cheaper as well. Once you have an ebook or guide created, you can use it to outline a course. While you’re building out the course, you’re able to bring in some money from the guide, so it’s a good place to start. Q: How much should I spend on Facebook Ads per day? $5 is the minimum I would spend a day. That will be enough to get started as you test and start to get data back from the first few days. You need to give Facebook some time to learn more about your target audience and the type of people interested in your product or service. So even though you have to pay for ads, it’s considered an investment in your business. As soon as you start to grow your list, think about what you can offer on the backend to make back the money you spent on ads. It’s much easier than you might think. The key is to get started and take action sooner than later! Q: Is there a minimum number of months I have to sign up for Brand Creators? No, there is no minimum time frame for Brand Creators. We offer month-to-month, quarterly and yearly options. However, we designed the program to serve as a way for us to work with you month after month as we help you grow your business in the process. We have worked hard to make it possible to connect you with other business owners who are in similar situations as you. This allows you to learn from others and to let you know that you are not alone. We expect a commitment on your part because we know that if you’re truly committed, you are going to see results. Stop consuming and focus on taking action. That is why we created Brand Creators to help you make it possible to do that. Q: Are people from ads less engaged than other leads? A: No matter how you find new customers, you need to put in the work to build a relationship and establish trust from the very beginning. At first, people will not be committed or dedicated to you or your brand because they don’t know who you are or what you stand for. As you start to build goodwill, you will gain their trust in the process. For me, it’s helped to show up consistently no matter what I have going. To show that I genuinely care about my community and what they are looking to accomplish. Q: Best advice you’re received from a mentor or parent? A: My mother always taught me to always be open and honest. She said that it was important to always be transparent. My father always taught me by doing and taking action. When I was doing the Rock Your Brand rebrand, I messaged Pat Flynn. I was struggling with how to move forward. He told me to take a step back and think about how someone would describe me in five years. What would I be known for? This got me thinking and motivated me to move forward with the rebrand. I recommend using the same exercise for yourself if you’re struggling to figure out what you’re going to do next. Thanks for joining me today! As always, I am here for you, I believe in you and am rooting for you. It’s time for you to take action and go rock your brand. Topic for this episode: Noah rounds off his training by taking host Dane Sharp through 'Presentation & Closing', 'Post Sell' and 'Asking for Referrals'. Hello and thanks for joining me on Dream Job Ready. I'm your host, Dane Sharp, and I'm excited to bring you the finale of a special 6-part mini-series with professional sales coach, Noah Cohen, where we dive into and break down the sales process. We've received some amazing feedback about the previous 5 episodes with Noah, so if you're just discovering this show or missed episodes 34, 35, 36, 37 and 38, please go back and give them a listen. Noah has turned his sales training into a condensed and generalised take for our listening benefit. He's also provided some scripts, tip and communication templates here: Topic: Presentation & Close. Tip for Episode: At any point before this stage, if you can not proceed further, you are not to pitch or present. You must address their enquiry or concern and solve it before moving forward to the next step. "[Name], Earlier you told me X was important to you. You also say the steps you've taken to fix it and the impact it has had on you. Have I missed something? (If positive) share how your solution fixes their issue or provides to them what they need and ask when you can get started and close. Topic: Post-sell and referral. Tip for Episode: Deal with buyers' remorse. "[Name], you mentioned that you wanted x but then after discussing it you were happy with what I suggested, Are you still ok to proceed?" This will allow the prospect to own their decision and reduce the chances of a cancelled sale, later. Tip for Episode: How to ask for a referral: "[Name], next time you talk to a friend, college family member or even a neighbour and they mention they need (product or service), would you feel comfortable introducing us?" Yes, sure... "Great, when that happens please take out your phone and text me their name and number, and I will get in touch. Is that ok?" No... "Not a problem at all [name], what do I need to do for you to feel comfortable?" Here's the agenda for our six episodes:Introducing the Sales Process & Training (EP34)Rapport & Trust (EP35)Setting an Agenda (EP36)Discovery Funnel, Needs Analysis & Questioning (EP37)Uncovering a Prospect's Budget & Understanding their Decision Making Process (EP38)Closing the Sale / Getting a Decision / After the Sale (this one!)Noah offers free online sales training on his website www.cohentraininginstitute.com.auI worked with Noah at Groupon and he's had experience training and coaching sales consultants across retail, finance, insurance and HR. Where are you viewing life from? If your life is lived in the mind, which is where most people are localized. This is going to pull from the books, from what you’ve heard, from your lineage, from society. “Here’s how it’s supposed to look when you feel good, success…”. Your mind can only go after the building blocks that it has been programmed after. If you are going about life in the “doer” way, you’ve basically disconnected yourself from flow. In flow is where the magic happens. In flow is where you awed with life because everything seems to be new and unexpected. Things don’t seem to arise spontaneously in the mind, people have thoughts that seem to come out of nowhere, but generally speaking, we’re repeating over 95% of the same thoughts we’ve had before. So it’s not really spontaneous. However, your average person does probably feel like their emotions or their felt sense in their body is spontaneous all the time. You wake up in the morning and feel good. Or bad. There's a spontaneity to the way the energy is moving in the body and how we are experiencing emotion and felt sense. So if you’re committed or you’ve been trained to live in the mind. Then spontaneity is unknown. But there is a way to get in the flow with the spontaneity of the body. That's what you will learn more about in our conversation. Tune into today's episode now! “Our entire society is programmed to not feel certain emotions. Discomfort is bad. Managing Expectations Consciously and Reclaiming Unity: Episode 233 with Guy & Ilan Ferdman In this week's episode of the Old Souls & Seekers podcast, we're excited to bring to you a conversation around how to manage expectations and disappointment consciously. We also dive deep into the massive spiritual shift that's happening in the world right now. “Let’s start loving our expectations, let’s start loving the parts of us that gets really disappointed when things don’t work out the way that we think they should”- Guy Ferdman In today's episode, we dive deep into the topic of expectations. Have you ever felt that the more you want something in life, the more it seems to get further away from you? Like that new relationship, more money, or more happiness. Why is that? When you want something so badly and expect something so high, it very rarely meets your standards, and you get disappointed. We will share with you how to deal with this in a conscious way that is practical and will set you up for less frustration and more peace of mind. We also dig into the powerful shifts that are happening in the world at the moment, consciously and energetically. As the old paradigms and patterns that have not been serving us are being questioned and replaced with new ones that are more in tune with source energy, the world is slowing shifting towards more alignment. Keeping ideas secret is fundamental to protecting them, this is the case the world over. When you have a new idea, you’ll need to carefully weigh up who you disclose it to and howTopics Discussed in this Episode:How to protect ideas against theft by competitors and othersThe importance of confidentialityHow the patent system worksThe rationale behind IPWhen to use a non-disclosure agreement (NDA)The case of Microsoft’s Tablet PC versus Apple’s iPadHow to maintain your competitive advantageThe use of confidentiality to keep methodologies and recipes a secret Key Takeaways:Keeping ideas secret is fundamental to protecting them. And in business, you need to be very, very aware of this. And it’s the same the world over.Confidentiality is one of the core three IP rights, and it’s a very important way in which ideas, systems, processes, and databases are protected.Every great innovation began simply as an idea in someone’s head, and the patent system will only grant a patent on innovations that are not in the public domain. The trade-off that the state gives us for revealing our ideas is a monopoly right, so keeping them secret initially is a vital way of protecting ideas. The state is constantly doing this balancing act. The rights that they give have to be strong enough to encourage the creation of intellectual goods and divulging of information in return for a patent, but not so strong as to stifle creativity or prevent the wider use of those ideas. If you’re coming up with something innovative, expect others to jump on the bandwagon and copy.Copyright does not protect the underlying ideas. It only protects the way you express them. The copying of ideas may pose a serious threat to your business. The more crucial your idea, the more steps you should probably take to protect it.It’s how an idea is implemented rather than the idea itself that determines how well it’s received in the market.Develop the skill of knowing what to reveal, how much to reveal, and what to keep confidential about your ideas.Keep your idea a secret if you think it might potentially be patentable. If information about it leaks out to the public domain, it is no longer protected. When you have new ideas, carefully weigh up who you’re going to disclose them to and how. That’s how you manage the bloody world of competition. There are huge commercial advantages to being first to market, but you need to constantly improve and refine your offering if you’re to maintain that advantage. Keep staying ahead of your competitors. Even though they copy you, make it so that you’ve already moved on and actually improved the product and learned new insights.

Managing remote teams has never been more critical than it is right now. For remote teams to be successful, they need to operate in a culture built on trust, collaboration, and teamwork. They need to know the rules and expectations from the beginning. When you put people first, higher production and KPIs will follow. This isn't just feel-good stuff. There is data to support it. According to a 2019 Harvard study done by Marcus Buckingham, when you have high trust with a manager or leader on the team, your employee engagement goes up eight times, which is a proxy for performance. Teamwork must be a strategic priority. Heading into the fourth quarter is the perfect time to stop, take an honest look at the culture in your law firm, and reset for 2021. What are you doing to create a collaborative culture and build trust? Jason shares why he created Cards Against Mundanity and how he uses this exercise as a tool to create empathy in building successful teams. I recently created a poll on my Instagram account, (be sure to follow me, @clairetheheartbreakcoach) and in the poll, I asked whether or not you should talk about your ex on a first date. The majority of people said no, you shouldn’t talk about your ex on a first date, and I could not disagree more! Talking about your dating history, and learning about the other person’s, can be really helpful for understanding where each of you is, and what you’re looking for. People use the term "the ABCs" to refer to the basics, the building blocks. But recently, I got to thinking about the scene in a movie where Alec Baldwin berates a sales force to "Always Be Closing." He was just one word off! See, the "ABCs" of tactical preparedness, one of the fundamental building blocks, is that you should always be learning. Because if you aren't learning, you're not growing... and you WON'T be able to face unexpected challenges in life! As it turns out, Modern Combat & Survival has done a LOT to help people learn... ...just as our audience has helped us to learn at the same time. What that means is that MCS has actually CHANGED how people, including our own employees, train for self-protection and preparedness. In this week's podcast episode, Modern Combat & Survival's Buck Greene sits in for Jeff Anderson to describe 3 lessons he learned from MCS that actually changed how he approaches these topics in his own life. Here's What You'll Discover In This Week's Episode: How the Rambo-style "survival knife" might actually be completely unnecessary for preppers and survivalists! The tool you can use for self-defense that most people haven't considered... and it's definitely not a gun. The single most important "bugout lesson" that MCS teaches. How it's possible to be "too prepared" for bugging out! The "square range mistake" that so many shooters make! So, we have to ask: How has MCS and its podcasts, blog posts, and emails changed how YOU approach self-protection and preparedness? Head on over to our blog and leave a comment to let us know, because we can't wait to hear from you!

As we pivot into the next generation of technology for the 21st century, we’re taking a look at the only intellectual property rights to be mentioned in the U.S. Constitution – patents. We’re joined by Rob Masters to explore how patent litigation has evolved over the years, how it continues to develop, and how the courts and the American Congress have impacted the value of the American patent in the modern era. Robert Masters is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in Sheppard Mullin’s Washington, D.C. office. He focuses his practice on intellectual property law, routinely handling patent, trade secret, copyright and trademark/trade dress litigation in courts throughout the U.S., before the International Trade Commission, before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), and before international arbitration tribunals across the globe. What We Discussed in this Episode: How has the value of the patent evolved over time? What happens if an injunction is issued against a patent holder? What two litigation venues in the U.S. are the least friendly to patent infringement defendants and why? What did the Supreme Court decide in Ebay v. Mercantile and how did that decision affect patent injunctions? What are non-practicing entities and what effect do they have on patent litigation? How did the court define “willful infringement" in the Seagate case? How did the 2011 American Invents Act and inter party review process develop? According to Section 101 from the Alice v. CLS Bank decision, what subject matter is eligible to be a patent? What is the current state of patent eligibility? Why do Standard Essential Patents matter so much? Are there certain countries that are more favorable to patent filings? A community for women business owners around the globe to help each other grow. What You'll Learn in this Episode: How to be the most efficient at networking events. How one connection can change your whole career. How to overcome mindset limitations. Quotes: "We strategically match our members, with the potential power partners that they need to know in order to grow their business, to get the resources they need, and to really enjoy everything a lot more as they're going along." (5:30) "In order to grow your business you need to have a really strong foundation of understanding what your mission, vision and values are." (14:06) "The largest part of marketing has always been understanding your target audience. It's this intersection of knowing your target audience, surveying them, and finding out what platforms they spend their time on." (16:31) About Meghann Conter: Less than two percent of women-owned businesses in the United States ever hit $1M in revenue—a startling fact that prompted Dames Founder, Meghann Conter, to take serious action. She knew that traditional networking and community building wouldn’t be enough to solve this problem, and her experiences swapping battle stories with other female business leaders told her it was time for something new. A community where women who have already reached that level could share their wisdom and be inspired to help other women get there too. She envisioned a global network of like-minded collaborators who laugh often, hug when they feel like it, and reach new heights together. Learn More Here

“He rejected me.” This is something I have heard clients say to me before, and is a story we so often believe about our situations as though they are a fact. However, the situation is neutral, and rejection is just a thought you have. In this episode, I dive into ways in which you may be rejecting yourself, putting this into the thought model, and how to create space for Mr. or Ms. Right to enter. I hope this episode helps you know that you are not someone who is rejected. You are loved unconditionally and deserve the best love life beyond your wildest dreams. It starts with believing it is possible, and with that belief, you can create the result.I am currently working on creating a course coming this November called Stop Wanting Him Back and Find Someone Better. Today on Extraordinary Women Radio, I am happy to introduce you to Rebecca Rosen - Opening the line of communication between the spirit world and our day-to-day world. In this Episode: How a 19-year-old Rebecca found her unique "gifts" and "purpose". Exploring the Psychic abilities and the power of the spiritual guides. Tapping out our "Intuitive Capabilities". How to process the messages coming from the spirits. Roles and functions of the "Team Spirits." The message of the Spirits in our current state and Rebecca's hope for the world. Rebecca's encouraging words to the people. Internationally acclaimed best-selling author, spiritual medium, and speaker, Rebecca Rosen has made it her mission to open the line of communication between the spirit world and our day-to-day world. Rebecca’s spiritual journey began in 1997 as a college student struggling with depression and a debilitating sleep-eating disorder. Following months of therapy and medication, Rebecca finally, out of desperation, began to pray. On one particularly unremarkable day while sitting in a bookstore, she felt compelled to write in her journal. That’s when her deceased Grandmother Babe, answered her prayers. Rebecca was flooded with words that she involuntarily transcribed, or channeled, not even realizing what she was writing. The handwriting was Rebecca’s, but the words were her Grandmother’s. Because she, herself, was skeptical, Rebecca asked for proof that what was happening was real. Grandma Babe told her three specific things she wanted Rebecca to share with her father, Grandma Babe’s son. All three turned out to be true and were things only her father and Grandma Babe could possibly know. For the next 18 months, Grandma Babe was Rebecca’s guide, giving her life lessons and even predicting specific personal events that would later come true. At the end of this time, her Grandmother told Rebecca to fulfill her life’s purpose, and ultimately help others. Rebecca’s journey as a medium started with personal readings for family and friends, which were uncannily accurate. These experiences were shared with friends, and then friends of friends. After working his way through and up to corporate America and reaching the perceived success level of managing a $580M labor line and over 22,000 employees across the US, Canada, & Puerto Rico. Josh Knutti says he was never satisfied. So he set out on his own to acquire a $10M corporation. After working and negotiating to get the deal done for over a year it finally was revealed to him that the seller had used him to increase the price and sold the company 3 days later for cash. This sent Josh in a negative mental health spiral so bad that he ended up in a fleabag motel with Jack Daniel, cocaine, & a shotgun ready to end his life. Thankfully the gun literally malfunctioned and it did not go off. After he did A LOT of work virtually trying everything to regain his mental health & positive self-image it was at that point that he realized that one of the main reasons why he was in that motel was because of his thoughts and the way he viewed the world. It was at this time that he vowed to spend the rest of his time, money, and life to help as many people OverCome life's obstacles, the biggest one being themselves CONNECT WITH JOSH: https://www.overcomingyoupodcast.com/ QUESTIONS ASKED: How has the way you view yourself evolved? Gratitude is a very positive character trait, but a gratitude practice or an “attitude of gratitude” is both more simple and more complex than it first seems. Beginning the day or ending the day with a journal practice of gratitude for one or three items has become very popular in the personal development world. This is great, but might not be the whole picture. While there is a clear benefit to focusing on the positive aspects of your day rather than the negative, when you can detach your judgment and be grateful for your difficulties, stumbles, and misses during the day, gratitude is world changing. Highlights of the Episode How people usually practice gratitude Gratitude for the struggles The ease of being grateful for the positives How gratitude for the positives can actually be a negative thing How to reframe your life and your running through gratitude What to do if you’re having a hard time shifting to gratitude Resources mentioned in the episode: Our other gratitude episode - Episode 67 The Real Life Runners Tribe Thanks for Listening!! “When you have an itch, there is an ART to how to approach it. The A is for ask, R is for research, and T is for test. “Choosing to leave the comfort of stable, well-paying work in order to pursue our passions is an intimidating prospect. For many out there, making that transition can be a struggle and it can feel like there is a lack of resources at our disposal to get our ideas off the ground. Joining me today is Reneta Jenik, the Founder and CEO of ‘Foodom’ - an Online Marketplace dedicated to making meals affordable and accessible to busy families that want to eat cleaner and healthier, while at the same time reducing their waste close to zero. After realizing that other families were experiencing similar concerns, she embarked on a journey to create what is now a successful in-home meal preparation startup. Though Reneta did not come from a background in the food industry, the skill set she developed at previous tech giants such as Intel, became invaluable in her current venture at ‘Foodom’. She believes that the core marketing and business practices that were present at previous jobs were just as prominent in creating the framework for her startup and helped her to navigate the company structure. In today’s episode, we discuss why Reneta decided to transition out of corporate culture and start a small business, how Covid-19 has impacted her team’s approach to processing and manufacturing issues, as well as marketing insights and advice for budding business owners! In today’s ‘solocast’ of the Agile Coaches’ Corner, Dan Neumann is exploring the art of metaphors. Metaphors can be a powerful tool to illustrate important ideas and concepts of agility — if used well. Dan shares the pros and cons of using metaphors in an agile setting, how to use them effectively whatever your role may be, and how metaphors can be a really powerful tool to add to your arsenal, regardless of what level you’re at in the organization and who you’re trying to communicate with. Key Takeaways What is a metaphor? A metaphor is a way of using a concrete image/example to help connect to an abstract thought Taking an abstract idea like agility and then comparing it to something that is very concrete Metaphors help us connect abstract things to familiar ideas Examples: “All the world is a stage.” — Shakespeare, “Life is like a box of chocolates.” — Forrest Gump What to keep in mind when using metaphors: Be aware that we can sometimes bring in biases and/or unintended constraints that are not helpful Using a metaphor may impact the way a person is looking to solve a problem The way in which a metaphor is used is going to affect the way that someone is going to think about different problems Common (and not-so-common) agility metaphors: An 8-hour endurance race (where the goal is to see how many miles you can go in a set amount of time) can be compared to an agile software development project Building a car as compared to product development (the metaphor of construction helps to connect the thought of agility with regard to transportation) Agile gardening vs. Agile farming (illustrates the contextual differences when you’re doing small-scale agility [the gardening] vs. commercial, industrial-scale agility [farming]) Sailboat (a metaphor technique used in retrospectives): i.e. “What are the fair winds that are blowing your boat across the water?” and “What are the anchors?” (i.e. what is keeping your boat moving forward to its destination) Metaphors can also be used to show where agility does not make sense (i.e. you don’t exactly want a McDonald’s lineworker being agile when they’re making your burger; you want the same burger every time you go there) House metaphors: “If you’re building a house you have to build a solid foundation” and “You wouldn’t build a house one room at a time” (these can be good for user stories as well as illustrating the desire for pre-planning) Pros Metaphors are powerful in that they cause the brain to react differently Metaphors can help teams move away from a really concrete way of thinking about a problem to a much more abstract way, unlocking some new potential There are lots of different ways of using metaphors to help connect people to this abstract concept of agility Cons An issue with metaphors is that they can sometimes be militaristic (i.e. using military metaphors, such as those seen in Team of Teams) Some metaphors bring in gender biases (i.e. “don’t get your panties in a twist”) — this baggage is not appropriate and brings in stereotypes Metaphors about games and sports (because agility isn’t a win/lose scenario) Art metaphors — not everyone will be able to relate to the message (it’s important to be aware of your audience) Imagining your team as a machine in a metaphor can bring in some constraints you don’t necessarily want Mentioned in this Episode: “How the brain finds meaning in metaphor,” ScienceDaily “Through Their Own Words: Towards a New Understanding of Leadership Through Metaphors” “Why Metaphors Are Important: Metaphors are not just a literary technique; they are a psychological technique” “The Power of Metaphors in Communication” Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World, by Stanley McChrystal with Chris Fussell, Tantum Collins, and David Silverman Want to Learn More or Get in Touch?
