Struggling with intrusive thoughts, a racing heart, or the overwhelming weight of anticipatory anxiety? In today's session, we move beyond basic mindfulness and dive into neuroscience-backed tools designed to trigger an instant nervous system reset. As a former paramedic and clinical hypnotherapist, I understand the terrifying feeling of losing control during a panic attack. This 10-minute guided episode provides you with a mechanical "emergency brake" for your anxiety. In This Episode, You Will:Master the Physiological Sigh: A technique proven by Stanford Neuroscience to lower your resting heart rate and stop a panic attack in real time. Stimulate the Vagus Nerve: Use specific breathing patterns to transition from a "fight or flight" stress state into deep parasympathetic recovery. Practice Somatic Grounding: Learn to observe negative thoughts like clouds passing over a mountain rather than being swept away by them. Today's Affirmations for Emotional ResilienceRepeat these words internally to anchor your mind and body: I am safe in my body and this sensation is only temporary. I choose to let go of catastrophizing and return to the present moment. My nervous system is learning to stay calm even when things feel uncertain. I am the observer of my thoughts, not the victim of them. I am worthy of peace and I am in control of my breath. 3 Daily Caring Tips for a Happier LifeTo carry this calm into the rest of your day, remember these three principles:Lower Cortisol Naturally: Prioritize moments of deep breathing to signal safety to your brain throughout the day. Release Physical Tension: Check in with your body—consciously drop your shoulders and loosen your jaw. Reclaim Mental Clarity: When the "inner critic" speaks, return to the breath to find your center. A Note from MartinYou are doing so much better than you think you are. If your mind is racing with "what ifs," please know you aren't failing—your nervous system is simply trying to protect you. Let's give it a signal of safety together. If you found peace in today's session, please consider leaving a five-star review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify; it helps us reach others who are struggling. Confidence is everywhere right now. It's in affirmations, vision boards, therapy sessions, and motivational quotes. But none of that means anything if you haven't built proof that you can actually do hard things. In this Habits & Hustle episode, we get into why confidence can't be affirmed, it has to be earned, and why fitness builds confidence faster than therapy. I break down how real self-belief is built through reps, discipline, and physical evidence, not just positive self-talk. We also talk about why boring is what actually works and the power of “do it anyway” when motivation disappears. If you're ready to stop consuming confidence content and start building it, tune in. What's Discussed (02:25) Why intense workouts spike hunger and quietly sabotage fat loss (04:32) How strict meal timing reduces food noise and overeating (06:59) Why people gain weight in happy relationships (08:47) GLP-1 drugs and the role of “food noise” in weight control (11:40) Why severe calorie restriction backfires and slows metabolism (15:34) Why fitness builds confidence faster than therapy (16:42) Confidence is earned through hard reps, not affirmations (22:29) Why boring daily discipline is the real success strategy Thank you to our sponsors: Rho Nutrition: Try Rho Nutrition today and experience the difference of Liposomal Technology. Text Me!Affirmations can sound cheesy until you're the one who needs a new thought to grab onto. When we stop drinking, we don't just remove alcohol. We lose an entire coping system. [Season 7, Episode 100] I'm so excited to celebrate our 100th episode! We're adjusting the way we're numbering our episodes to show the progress this show has made. I want to thank you for your support over the years, as I started this podcast during COVID so that people would have support in their thinking with all the negativity that was prevalent. I never knew that God would bring us to a point where we have almost 350k downloads, which are not just stats...the stats represent people. They are lives that prayerfully have been positively impacted. And I praise God for that! Thank you Jesus! When I prayed about what this 100th episode should be about, God shared the topic "I have already WON." God is reminding you today that you are more than a conqueror, you have already won, simply because He has gone before you and made a way for you. The WORD that He spoke over your life cannot return void.Continue to listen to His Word, and continue to take Him at His Word. He has caused you to succeed and you have already won. It's Friday. Pause for a breath you didn't know you were holding. Exhale. This week's Soft Landings affirmation is for the woman who keeps mistaking her patterns for her personality. For every midlife woman who's been fighting the thing she does instead of getting curious about why she does it.Today's Affirmation: "My patterns kept me safe. I get to thank them and want something different."The thing you keep doing – the overfunctioning, the over-explaining, the keeping yourself small, the white-knuckling your independence, whatever yours is – it wasn't a mistake. It was a solution. A really smart one, for circumstances that once required exactly that response. It kept you safe. It kept you steady. It did its job.The problem isn't that you're broken. The problem is that the pattern is still running the same programme for a situation that no longer exists. Like a smoke alarm going off because you forgot your bagel in the toaster. So today, instead of fighting it or shaming it or trying to think your way out of it – what if you just said thank you? Thank you for protecting me when I needed protecting. I'm okay now. You can rest. You don't have to dismantle a pattern to be free of it. Sometimes you just need to stop treating it like an enemy and start treating it like a part of you that was doing its best with what it had. That's not giving up. That's actually where the shift begins.Save. Share. Come back when you need the reminder.
⚠️Trigger Warning: This episode discusses past abusive relationships, stalking/harassment by an ex-partner, trauma recovery, family estrangement, and mental health topics including anxiety and OCD. Please listen with care and take breaks if needed. In this episode of The Neurodivergent Creative, Caitlin shares how romance novels have unexpectedly helped her heal from relationship trauma and emotional abuse.March marks the anniversary of leaving an abusive marriage, which brings up a lot of memories and emotional triggers. But instead of viewing healing as a straight line, or assuming that getting triggered means you're back at the beginning, Caitlin introduces a powerful idea: Healing is a spiral staircase. You may encounter the same triggers again and again, but you are meeting them from a different place each time. This episode explores how trauma healing unfolds in layers, how safe relationships can help rewire the nervous system, and how romance novels can model communication, repair, and emotional safety in ways many of us never experienced growing up.What We Explore in This Episode:Trauma healing and the spiral staircase metaphorWhy triggers changing over time is actually evidence of healingLeaving an abusive marriage and rebuilding safetyThe role of romance novels in reshaping beliefs about love, repair, and communicationHow fiction can model safe relationships when real life didn'tThe emotional power of dual POV romance and seeing care from both sidesQueer identity, bisexual visibility, and romance representationLearning to communicate needs in a healthy relationship after emotional abuseWhy “use your words” can feel revolutionary when you've been trained not toReflection QuestionsWhere in your life are you assuming that being triggered means you're “back at the beginning”?What would change if you viewed your healing as a spiral instead of a straight line? Are there stories, books, or characters helping you imagine safer ways of being loved? What small communication need have you been sitting on because part of you still expects punishment?

Ep. 238 Returning to yourself isn't a one-time moment. It's a lifelong practice. In the final installment of the Return to Self series, Maryann Rivera-Dannert explores one of the most important tools for protecting your healing: healthy boundaries. Many women are conditioned to equate love with self-sacrifice, but boundaries are not about controlling others—they are about protecting your peace, energy, and authenticity. In this episode, Maryann shares how boundaries reveal the health of our relationships, prevent resentment, and help us stay aligned with the woman we are becoming. Key Takeaways: • Boundaries protect your emotional well-being and healing • Resentment grows where boundaries are missing • Societal conditioning often teaches women to abandon themselves • Boundaries help you manage your emotional energy • Internal boundaries are just as important as the ones we set with others

Send a textIn this St. Patrick's Day–inspired episode of the Sober Butterfly Podcast, host Nadine reframes the idea of “luck” and explores how sobriety helps you create your own opportunities rather than waiting for them to appear. Instead of relying on randomness—or alcohol-fueled confidence—Nadine shares how clarity, alignment, and presence open the door to the connections, ideas, and moments that can change your life.Inspired by Les Alfred's “She's So Lucky” rebrand and the quote “luck is the residue of design,” Nadine reflects on how removing alcohol allowed her to recognize opportunities she once missed in the fog of drinking. She explains how sobriety helps you move from reactive patterns to intentional living—making you more available for growth, meaningful relationships, and aligned success.Nadine breaks down practical ways to create your own “luck,” including building trustworthy character (and offering yourself grace), expanding your circle with supportive and growth-minded people, serving others without overextending yourself, and developing daily habits that align with your goals. She closes the episode with empowering “lucky girl sobriety” affirmations and a reminder that celebrations—St. Patrick's Day included—can be joyful, meaningful, and memorable without alcohol. In This Episode, We Cover:Why sobriety increases your ability to recognize opportunitiesThe difference between random luck and intentional livingHow alcohol clouds judgment and leads to missed connectionsThe meaning behind “luck is the residue of design”Building trustworthiness and giving yourself grace in recoveryExpanding your social circle with higher-quality, supportive connectionsBeing of service without overgiving or burning outDaily habits and routines that help you create opportunities“Lucky girl sobriety” mindset and affirmationsCelebrating holidays like St. Patrick's Day alcohol-freeKey TakeawaysClarity creates opportunity—sobriety helps you see what's already around you.Being reliable, kind, and aligned attracts the right people and experiences.Your environment and social circle play a huge role in the opportunities that appear in your life.Consistent daily habits compound into long-term “luck.”Celebrations can be just as meaningful—if not more so—without alcohol.Affirmations for Lucky Girl SobrietyI am clear, present, and open to opportunities. My sobriety attracts aligned connections and experiences.I create my own luck through intention and integrity. The right opportunities find me because I am ready for them.Share the EpisodeIf this episode resonated with you, share it with a friend who might need a reminder that their life doesn't have to revolve around alcohol to feel magical, connected, and full of possibility.Subscribe & ReviewIf you're loving the Sober Butterfly Podcast, follow or subscribe and leave a review to help more people discover sober-curious inspiration and recovery support.

(See Episode 174 and Episode 177 for the previous phase meditations.)This one is designed specifically for your ovulatory phase… your season of peak energy, confidence, charisma, and connection.Instead of a traditional seated meditation, this is a walking meditation, created to match the naturally elevated, outward-facing energy of ovulation. In today's episode, Gina talks about the importance of embracing imperfection, particularly in contrast to the common tendency of holding yourself to standards of perfection. Giving yourself permission to be yourself and not judging yourself based on your achievements can do wonders for your sense of self-worth and mental health.Stillpoint Fridays is my once-a-week Friday note — a slower, more personal reflection that's different from what I share on the podcast. You'll never reach it. —Salvador DaliChapters0:27 Embracing Imperfection10:37 Affirmations for Self-Compassion14:59 The Pursuit of Wisdom Over PerfectionSummaryIn this episode of the Anxiety Coaches Podcast, we delve into the concept of wabi-sabi, exploring how embracing imperfection can help alleviate the pressure of striving for perfection. The discussion begins with a reflection on the increasing societal demand for perfection, which can manifest as anxiety and feelings of inadequacy within us. We draw parallels to the music industry, where many artists are gravitating towards the raw authenticity of analog sounds versus the polished finish of digital production. This longing for imperfection invites us to question whether our pursuit of flawlessness is truly beneficial. The conversation encourages listeners to shift their perspective on imperfection, viewing it not as a failing but as a natural part of the journey of self-improvement. It posits that by letting go of the unattainable goal of perfection, we can open the door to self-acceptance and appreciate our experiences as ongoing, evolving processes. Our minds are profoundly shaped by our thoughts and where we choose to focus our attention, suggesting that by embracing imperfection, we can foster a more forgiving inner landscape.I emphasize the relief that can come from giving ourselves permission to simply be ourselves without the weight of perfectionism. The episode provides practical tips on recognizing our limits and establishing boundaries to support our mental health and well-being. It's crucial to incorporate self-care into our daily routines rather than sidelining our health for the sake of achieving more. By identifying our thresholds and maintaining those boundaries, we foster an environment in which we can thrive without succumbing to the pressure of needing to achieve perfection.#WabiSabi, #AnxietyRelief, #Mindfulness, #EmbraceImperfection, #MentalHealthMatters, #SelfLove, #SelfCare, #PersonalGrowth, #Perfectionism, #WellnessJourney, #PositiveAffirmations, #InnerPeace, #StressManagement, #MentalWellness, #SelfCompassion, #JapaneseWisdom, #Healing, #Authenticity, #GrowthMindset, #GraceAndGratitude, #AnxietyCoachesPodcast, #NervousSystemRegulation, #VagusNerve, #CalmMind, #OvercomingAnxiety, #PanicAttackRecovery, #MentalHealthAwareness, #EndTheStigma, #EmotionalWellness, #SelfHealing, #InnerCalm, #AnxietyWarrior, #Breathe #Gina Ryan #ACPSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

When observing comic books, the miracles come in big or small ways. This week on the podcast, we're discussing a resurrection we previously thought unimaginable. Stephen R Bissette, who gained legendary status working on titles like Saga of the Swamp Thing, crafted his masterpiece in the mid-nineties. Tyrant was meant to run fifty issues or more, but only four saw print before disaster struck the industry, and Bissette pulled up stakes, leaving comics to focus on family and a more financially stable situation. We've spent years searching for Tyrant in the dollar bins, picking up an issue here and there. As much as we love Bissette's work on Swamp Thing, Tyrant represents the artist at his purest, most thematically forward. Even at four issues, Tyrant is a masterpiece, expressing the agony and beauty of life, as we follow a Tyrannosaurus Rex from conception to birth. It's easy to mourn the story we did not get, but we must also celebrate the story we did. It is enough, and thankfully, we're not the only ones who thought so. Chris Stevens, of the newly formed Lighthouse Press, convinced Bissette that now was the time to re-release Tyrant in both a Complete Edition and a Deluxe Artist Edition. Stevens also hired cartoonist Jim Rugg (who recently shot a Stacks video with us) to oversee the production of these new additions. Together, they'll hopefully bring a massive new readership to Tyrant and give this lost masterpiece the recognition it never got. We're extremely happy to have Stephen R Bissette, Jim Rugg, and Chris Stevens on the podcast this week. Together, we place Tyrant in the context of its creation and explore why now is the time for its resurrection. We discuss the themes Bissette excavates in Tyrant and where the story was going before he had to pull the plug. We also discuss the heartbreak of pulling the plug and all the humanity within and without its pages. The 90s comic book scene. You had to be there. The Image Revolution. Pouches. Rob Liefeld and Spike Lee making Levi's commercials together. The Death of Superman was going to pay Brad's way into college somehow. The distribution implosion. The speculator flight. Devastation. Apocalypse. Something our earthbound dinosaurs also understood quite well. Please recognize the miracle that is Tyrant's resurrection by visiting the Lighthouse Press Kickstarter page and signing up for notification of its official launch.
