As Andrew puts it, Chief Justice John Roberts is “cherry-picking.” He's flying solo in this short edition of Main Justice (more to come with Mary in the next episode). Andrew gives a quick briefing on several of the Supreme Court's most consequential end-of-term rulings, starting with the decision not to hear an appeal in the E. Jean Carroll case. Andrew also touches on the Court's decision to uphold a Mississippi law to allow mail-in ballots that are sent by Election Day to be counted but saves his deepest analysis for two similar cases with opposing decisions: the firings of Lisa Cook and Rebecca Slaughter. While the Court ruled that the Trump administration must have cause to dismiss Cook from the Federal Reserve, it allowed the government to fire Slaughter from the Federal Trade Commission, a decision which Andrew calls deeply flawed showing the conservative majority's support for a “unitary executive.” And finally, Andrew breaks down the Court's narrow decision to uphold birthright citizenship, and why the tight 5-4 split is the story. A federal judge has put a permanent stop to one of Donald Trump's signature efforts to suppress voting and interfere in our free and fair elections. Glenn discusses the implications of this decision and highlights the ongoing pattern of Trump's legal defeats across the country, often at the hands of judges from various political backgrounds. He also emphasizes the importance of upholding the Constitution and questions the current limitations in holding a lawless president accountable.Find Glenn on Substack: glennkirschner.substack.comSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The number 1 group that may be responsible for protecting Federal Judges, empowering them to root out fraud and corruption by the DOJ and Trump, and ring fencing our rule of law, may be the 300+ former federal and state judges yoked together by Judge J. Michael Luttig and Nancy Gertner, who have filed dozens of briefs, motions and applications to give federal judges the support they need and encourage emergency action. Popok reports on 3 such examples in the last 14 days with 35 former fed judges supporting Judge Williams to find fraud on the court by trump in Miami; another 174 federal judges encouraging the DC Fed Appeals Court to allow a judge to continue criminal contempt proceedings against the Trump Administration, and another 101 state and federal judges calling for the disbarment of the “unfit for office” Todd Blanche, Trump's AG Nominee. Popok reports, along with exclusive briefing by Judge Luttig and Lee Gelernt of the ACLU. There's a lot on the docket today. To pull apart the Iran “deal” framework, Mary and Andrew are joined by Tess Bridgeman, an international law expert who served as a legal advisor in the Obama administration through the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran. Tess lays out how President Trump's 14-point memorandum of understanding differs from what was brokered in 2015, and what to watch for as negotiations continue. Before she joins, the co-hosts begin by analyzing several examples of what Mary calls the Trump Justice Department's "consistent effort” to avoid judicial review: their refusal to put into a sworn declaration that they won't move forward with the “Anti-Weaponization” fund and a motion to dismiss a Clean Air Act violation lawsuit against Elon Musk's xAI data center in Mississippi. They also tackle a few instances where, contrastingly, the government has positioned itself “on the offense” this week, including an indictment of 15 protesters on a conspiracy charge against ICE and the DHS' intent to build a border wall through a holy landmark atop Mount Cristo Rey in New Mexico. Further reading: Here is the New York Times piece, Mary referred to about the Las Cruces case: A Diocese Tries to Protect Its 29-Foot Jesus From Trump's Border Wall Here is the Just Security tracker that Mary and Andrew mentioned: Immigration Habeas Tracker: Government Obstruction, Judicial Trust, and Accountability Sign up for MS NOW Premium on Apple Podcasts to listen to this show and other MS podcasts without ads. A federal judge has tossed out U.S. Justice Department subpoenas targeting Gov. Tim Walz and other state and local leaders. Judge Patrick Schiltz called the subpoenas an “unlawful and unethical use of the grand jury process.” The subpoenas were part of a criminal investigation into whether state officials were obstructing federal immigration enforcement. Schiltz wrote that evidence the subpoenas were issued for unlawful reasons was “overwhelming,” and said the investigation appeared designed to harass political opponents and pressure them into taking federal action.A new study recommends Minnesota take action to prevent groundwater contaminated with PFAS from spreading in the Twin Cities east metro. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency report recommends pumping groundwater and removing PFAS. The treated water would then be sent to cities for drinking, or returned to the underground aquifer. Decades ago, 3M disposed of chemical waste containing PFAS at several sites in the east metro, where the chemicals leaked into the environment.About 75,000 spectators are expected to attend the Special Olympics USA Games in Minnesota this week. Competition began Monday at the University of Minnesota and the National Sports Center in Blaine. The games bring together more than 3,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from all 50 states. Events are free to attend, and ESPN will stream some competitions on ESPN Plus.

In breaking news, at least 2 federal judges are considering whether to appoint a Special Prosecutor independent from the corrupted DOJ, to investigate whether the DOJ committed a fraud (or 2) on the Court and should be held in criminal contempt. Popok reports on a new motion just filed before Judge Perry in Chicago Fed Court demanding that a Special Counsel be appointed by her to investigate DOJ corruption even as high as beleaguered AG nominee Todd Blanche, as Judge Coleman in the same courtroom considers doing the same thing arising out of Grand Jury abuse. And while Judges Perry and Coleman consider appointing a special counsel, Judge Williams in Miami may join them after filings on Friday about Trump's bad faith IRS lawsuit filing. After a week of decisions coming in from all corners, Mary and Andrew begin with a court order issued to remove President Trump's name off the Kennedy Center after a failed, last-minute attempt by the administration to stop it from happening. Mary refers to this as “good news in the fight against revisionist history,” which she ties into their second beat: a preliminary injunction issued to restore changes to National Parks that were made after Trump issued an executive order calling for modifications to monuments, parks and memorials to rewrite and censor American history and science. Then, onto a federal judge in Virginia officially blocking the $1.776 Billion slush fund after mixed messaging from the administration about whether it would be set up, plus a decision by Judge Mehta in DC to overturn the Department of Energy's cancellation of $82.1 Million in clean energy grants to “Blue” states across the country. Mary and Andrew also touch on a Massachusetts District Court decision blocking Ken Paxton's lawsuit against the Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue. And last up, they read and summarize the eyebrow-raising grand jury transcripts of the “Broadview Six” case out of Chicago, so you don't have to. Further reading: Here is Judge Mehta's order reinstating the clean energy grants: https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.mad.296214/gov.uscourts.mad.296214.41.0.pdf Sign up for MS NOW Premium on Apple Podcasts to listen to this show and other MS podcasts without ads. A sentencing date is pending for Vance Boelter after he pleaded guilty Thursday to federal charges stemming from last June's attacks on Minnesota lawmakers and their families. That includes the killings of former DFL House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, as well the attack on DFL state Senator John Hoffman, his wife, Yvette, and their daughter, Hope. Under terms of the plea deal, Boelter will spend the rest of his life in prison.More than a hundred men serving time at Rush City prison are boycotting the canteen to protest prison conditions. A federal judge has denied a request from independent journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort to release grand jury transcripts in their case. Target Field food and beverage workers announced they will strike on June 22 — during a game between the Twins and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Also, reading up on dueling 250th celebrations for America (one congressionally approved, one rogue), learning why Albanians are protesting the aquisition and development of a protected island, and seeing how our tax dollars are paying for petty websites targeting Americans. At the detention hearing in the Anna Kepner case, the presiding judge acknowledged that if Timothy Hudson were an adult facing the same charges under the same evidentiary circumstances, he would almost certainly be detained pending trial. The judge characterized the case as "a different animal." He then concluded the hearing without issuing a ruling on detention — and the defendant, a sixteen-year-old charged as an adult with first-degree murder in federal court, was released. The evidentiary record unsealed in the proceedings is substantial. Security footage tracks the defendant's movements aboard the Carnival Horizon the night of Anna Kepner's death. A phone belonging to the defendant was recovered from a trash receptacle in a smashed condition. DNA analysis reportedly corroborates the prosecution's theory. Anna Kepner's body was found concealed beneath a bed in the stateroom she shared with the defendant — a ship operating in international waters, establishing federal jurisdiction. The release conditions have generated procedural concern. The defendant is prohibited from unsupervised contact with minors. Prosecutors informed the court that two minor children reportedly reside in the home designated as the defendant's placement. That apparent conflict was raised in open proceedings.Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer addresses the forensic challenges unique to maritime crime scenes — evidence collection aboard a vessel that subsequently docks and discharges thousands of passengers, chain of custody complications inherent to shipboard investigations, and the enhanced significance of the FBI's initial evidence recovery process under those constraints. She provides her professional assessment of the evidence profile as disclosed in unsealed filings.A criminal defense attorney examines the procedural framework governing juvenile defendants charged as adults in federal court — a circumstance federal courts encounter rarely. The analysis addresses the tension between juvenile detention standards and adult charge severity, the strategic implications of the defendant's waiver of juvenile proceedings, and the practical consequences of the detention decision for the prosecution's trial preparation. The trial is scheduled for September 8th.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? AP correspondent Haya Panjwani reports on a ruling on Trump administration immigration policies.
A federal judge has delivered a significant legal blow to the administration's plans for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. In a 94-page opinion issued Friday, U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled that the institution's board overstepped its statutory authority by unilaterally adding President Donald Trump's name to the venue. The court has ordered that all physical and digital signage bearing the President's name be removed within 14 days. In this episode, we break down Judge Cooper's landmark decision. We discuss why the court determined that only Congress—not the board of trustees—has the authority to rename the historic memorial. We also examine the second part of the ruling, which blocks the administration's plan to close the facility for a two-year renovation project, calling the board's decision-making process "derelict."In this episode, we cover:The Legal Argument: Why the court ruled that the "Trump Kennedy Center" rebranding was illegal. The Closure Block: Why the two-year shutdown for renovations was halted by the court.Congressional Authority: The judge's clear statement that the Kennedy Center's identity is protected by federal law.The Fallout: President Trump's response to the ruling and his stated intent to facilitate a transfer of the institution.Make sure to subscribe, rate, and leave a review to keep up with our analysis of major legal and political developments.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/chaos-culture-radio--3078307/support.Follow Chaos Culture Radio for real conversations that move culture forward.New episodes every week.Share this episode with someone who needs to hear it.
This time John discusses federal judge Christopher Cooper who ordered Trump's name to be removed from the Kennedy Center. And then another federal judge has temporarily stopped the creation of a $1.8bn government fund to compensate individuals who claimed to be targets of political investigation by previous presidential administrations. Judge Leonie Brinkema barred the justice department from taking any steps to stand up or operate the fund - including processing or dispersing claims - until a preliminary hearing on June 12th. And then another federal judge - Kathleen Williams - ordered the IRS case into Trump re-opened and called his 1776 Terror Slush Fund into question. John then welcomes back journalist and political analyst for CNN, Brian Karem, to talk about the ceasing of the Iran ceasefire and his new podcast "Just Ask the Question". And then finally, TV's Frank Conniff from MST3K returns to joke with John and listeners about Trump's pathetic almost cancelled Freedom 250 concert and birthday UFC cage fight.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
A federal judge just temporarily blocked what critics are calling a billion-dollar Trump slush fund designed to reward political allies — while ordinary Americans are drowning under rising costs, layoffs, debt, and economic anxiety. At the same time, some Republicans are pushing bizarre proposals like putting Donald Trump on the $250 bill as corporations report record profits and working families continue to struggle. With recession fears growing, Trump is now focusing taxpayer dollars on “beautifying” Washington D.C. through contracts many fear will enrich connected insiders and political cronies. This isn't leadership. It's a campaign of greed, spectacle, and cruelty. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Trump sued the IRS for $10 billion over an unlawful tax return disclosure, a lawsuit that was time-barred, improperly pleaded under the statute, and lacked any adversity between the parties since Trump controlled the very agencies he was suing. Todd Blanche and the DOJ mounted zero defense, then quietly settled for $1.776 billion in taxpayer money, including a sweeping addendum that would have permanently shielded Trump, his family, his businesses, and his associates from any future federal investigation. On May 27th, a group of 35 former federal judges, represented by ethics attorney Norm Eisen, filed a motion alleging the settlement was a product of collusion and a fraud on the court. By May 29th, a federal judge had reopened the case. By Friday night, the Wall Street Journal reported the White House was scrambling. By Monday, it was dead. Trump has until June 12th to respond to the court's order. Republican senators, Mike Pence, and now the federal judiciary all lined up against it. In Round 9 of Musk v. Altman, billionaire witnesses including Ilya Sutskever, Satya Nadella, and Bret Taylor stepped before a federal judge and nine jurors to defend the future of OpenAI, but several of their admissions may have handed Elon Musk critical ammunition. In this episode of The Valley Current®, Jack Russo breaks down the courtroom psychology, billion-dollar financial conflicts, explosive testimony about Sam Altman's leadership, and the growing legal battle over whether OpenAI's nonprofit mission was quietly transformed into one of the most commercially powerful companies on Earth. The stakes are no longer just personal reputations. They may determine the future structure of the AI industry itself. A federal judge in Washington handed the Trump administration a temporary legal victory tied to proposed changes involving voter registration lists and mail ballots. Civil rights organizations argue the effort could create confusion and barriers for voters, while election reviews continue to reject widespread voter fraud claims tied to mail voting. Leon Black has faced mounting scrutiny over his long and deeply intertwined relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, particularly after newly surfaced court filings revealed an aggressive behind-the-scenes legal effort tied to a woman accusing Black of rape connected to Epstein's network. According to the reporting, Black's legal team privately contacted federal Judge Jed Rakoff in an effort to challenge and ultimately reverse a multimillion-dollar compensation award granted to the accuser through an Epstein victims' settlement fund. The woman, identified as Jane Doe, alleged that Black sexually assaulted her as a teenager at Epstein's Manhattan townhouse. The Guardian's reporting detailed how Black's attorneys argued the settlement process had been manipulated by fraudulent evidence and sought to protect Black's reputation from what they characterized as false allegations. Critics, however, argued the case highlighted how wealthy and powerful figures connected to Epstein continue to wield enormous legal and financial influence long after Epstein's death. The legal battle became even more controversial after a federal judge sanctioned Jane Doe and her former attorney for falsified evidence tied to parts of the case, though the court still allowed portions of the civil rape lawsuit against Black to proceed. Black has vehemently denied ever meeting or assaulting the accuser and has refused settlement offers, framing the allegations as entirely fabricated. Still, the broader controversy surrounding Black has persisted because of the extraordinary extent of his documented relationship with Epstein, including revelations that Black paid Epstein roughly $170 million for financial and tax-related services over several years despite Epstein already being a convicted sex offender. The case has become emblematic of the larger questions surrounding Epstein's network of elite associates, the power imbalance between wealthy defendants and accusers, and the ongoing struggle by survivors to seek accountability within a legal system critics argue often bends toward those with enormous resources and institutional influence.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Epstein-linked billionaire accused of rape privately reached out to federal judge to defend his ‘good name' | Jeffrey Epstein | The Guardian

In a recent joint update to Judge Paul A. Engelmayer and Judge Richard M. Berman of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, top Department of Justice officials — including Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, and U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton — acknowledged the massive scope and challenges involved in releasing millions of pages of investigative materials related to the Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell cases under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. In a letter filed with both judges, the DOJ said it has reviewed “millions of pages” of files including documents, audio, and video recordings, and made “substantial progress” in identifying and redacting materials to protect victim identities. However, the department stressed that it cannot provide a specific completion date for when the entire review and release process will be finished, citing continued quality-control checks, document management preparation, and redaction efforts as necessary steps to comply with the law while safeguarding sensitive information. The update came amid political and legal pressure after the statutory deadline of Dec. 19, 2025 passed with only a small fraction of the files publicly released. While the DOJ insists it is working toward releasing the materials “in the near term,” lawmakers, victims' advocates, and the public have sharply criticized the slow pace and heavy redactions, arguing the department is failing to meet both the letter and spirit of the transparency law. Separate court actions around the same time saw Judges Engelmayer and Berman grant motions to unseal certain grand jury and investigative records in the Maxwell and Epstein matters — interpreting the new law as overriding traditional secrecy protections — but the broader document release effort remains ongoing.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:DOJ says it will finish releasing Epstein files "in the near term," but doesn't offer specific date - CBS NewsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-epstein-chronicles--5003294/support.

A federal judge just apologized in open court to Cole Allen — the man accused of trying to assassinate President Donald Trump and his team at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia M. Faruqui told the 31-year-old suspect he was “sorry” for the harsh conditions in D.C. jail, including suicide watch and solitary confinement. Allen, who allegedly showed up armed and fired shots at Secret Service, received an apology while many January 6 defendants have faced far worse for far less. In breaking news, a Federal Judge has dismissed Trump's $10 billion dollar defamation case against Rupert Murdoch and the Wall Street Journal for publishing an article detailing what they claim was Trump's hand written pornographic hand drawn “letter” for Epstein's 50th Birthday, pasted into a 2 volume scrap book by Ghislaine Maxwell, the very same birthday submission that was published by the House Oversight Committee.
