Before he could legally drink, Ian Bick was already in the thick of the nightclub scene, not as a patron, but as the owner of Tuxedo Junction in Connecticut. Drawing from the excitement of youthful partying, Bick's events were anything but your typical high school get-togethers. But when the glitz started to fade, and the revenue wasn't flowing as he'd imagined, desperation knocked on his door. Instead of seeking advice or potentially shutting down, Bick veered down a dangerous path, one that entangled him in a web of deceit, old debts, and new investors. On this episode of the James Altucher Show, hear from Ian Bick himself – how youthful ambition can quickly take a wrong turn, and how a teenager found himself running a $500,000 Ponzi Scheme. From the highs of Tuxedo Junction to the lows of a prison cell, Bick's tale is a cautionary one, now featured on HBO Max's "Generation Hustle."Listen to Ian's Podcast: Locked In with Ian Bick | Podcast on SpotifyVisit Ian's Website: Ian Bick------------What do YOU think of the show? What if hustle is not wrong? And what if flow is not wrong? What if you always have a choice? There is a movement to stop the hustle lifestyle. I totally get it. I literally killed myself in my businesses and worked 365 days a year. I had bronchitis for a year and coughed my way through life for that entire year. I kept going and going until I completely cracked. I invite you to create a new possibility. What if you always ask question instead of choosing anti-hustle or choosing hustle? Here's a question you can ask, “What is required here?” You will have moments, days and seasons when hustle is required and there will be moments when slow and flow is required. IN THIS EPISODE, I TALK ABOUT:Ask a question before you conclude that anti-hustle is the best way. Ask, “What is required here?” My Q1 had the energy of ease and my Q2 has the energy of drive. Dragon on The Couch: The Dragon ventured to the theaters to see Licorice Pizza (Theaters), which she found out way too late wasn't a Barbara Streisand biopic. She thought it was very good, but not as great as Berto thought it was. Dragon next watched The Tragedy of Macbeth (Apple TV+/Theaters), which was in the original old English and she therefore found very boring and hard to follow. Finally, she talked about one episode of Generation Hustle, S1E3 “The Many Lives of Jeremy Wilson” (HBO), which was about a conman. She enjoyed the series, but specifically recommends this episode. Berto on the Bed: Berto watched the latest Guillermo Del Toro film Nightmare Alley (HBO), he thought it was really good, but it really falls apart the last 30 minutes. Next, Berto watched Hearts in Atlantis (HBO), an adaptation of a Stephen King novella. Berto really enjoyed it, despite previously having no desire to have seen it. Next, he watched Wild Things (Netflix), which he thought was a bad movie, but a perfect example of a late 90's sexy thriller. Berto discusses WWII in Color: Road to Victory (Netflix), a docuseries which, rather than telling the story of the war as a whole, tells it as a series of smaller stories. Berto really liked it and recommends it for anyone into that topic. Finally, Berto gives a quick recap of what else he's watched: Mission: Impossible III (Prime) was a good action, spy film; Hellraiser: Bloodline (Paramount +) was not good and seemed very cheap; and Voyage of the Rock Aliens (Tubi) was a musical that was so bad and crazy Berto enjoyed it. On this week's deep dive, we watched the 2006 action film 300, currently streaming on HBO and Netflix.

The HBS hosts discuss scams, cons, gig work, and what drives us to live and work at full speed. In the immortal words of Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr. (aka, T.I.) "If you don't respect nothing else, you will respect the hustle." In this episode, Dr. Leigh M. Johnson takes the lead in an analysis of how "the hustle," in all senses of that term, define our lives today. We look at the HBO docuseries Generation Hustle-- which tracks the stories of 10 young scammers, con-artists, and/or sociopaths-- before trying to pinpoint the economic and social conditions that make these kinds of hustles so appealing to GenY and GenZ. Then, we turn to the "side-hustle" (gig work), an increasingly necessary hustle in the lives of workers across generations. Finally, we ask: why are we working so hard and in such a hurry all the time?Full episode notes available at this link.

Take a guess! Brian talks about a new tv series he's watching on HBO Max called, Generation Hustle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3WsXrSFnxo Transcription Business TV Show: Generation Hustle. Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live. Wanted to hit this is gonna be a quick, quick, quick one. I just want to recommend a show for you, I've only seen the first three episodes. I'm watching it on HBO Max, I believe it's across HBO, but it may only be on HBO Max. Either way, it's called, Generation Hustle. Go and watch this show, it is all about con artists and people doing something that is fooling other people in a sense, it's worth seeing. It's one of those things, I was not all that interested in growing up. Well, I mean, you're always interested in the movies where it was the fun con artists, you know, the Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, or, oh, what's the other one that I can't think of off the top of my head, The Sting, you know, good con artists movies. But those are just fun little things. But this is serious, these are actual situations, actual people that have been around for years. And they even have an episode on the Wework scenario that I talked about earlier, in another, another episode. So go check out Generation Hustle that the thing about con artists, here's what you can learn from them. Anything that can be done for bad can be done for good. And these people are certainly in most cases, doing things for the bad reasons or for the bad results. But a person who has that type of creativity can just as I don't know about just as easily, but they could work and use that energy in a good format. And you can pull out so many good nuggets, and I will, I'll get into specific episodes, maybe in a few weeks or a few months here. Go back and pick out some of my favorite episodes of this show. Because there are so many good gold nuggets. It all has to do with human behavior and how people view things The good stuff, not the bad stuff. Without you know you just messing them over. So generation hustle worth watching. It's one it's an anthology series, so every episode is completely different. So just make sure and go out and watch that. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. That's all I got for tonight. Hey, go grab a copy of my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. Get a free one at AmazonProofBook.com. AmazonProofBook.com. We'll be back here tomorrow night. In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.

Executive Producer and showrunner ANGIE DAY is one of the smartest people I've worked with in my career. In this episode, I chat with Angie about her latest project, HBO Max's "GENERATION HUSTLE," a captivating, shocking and important 10-part documentary series, which shines a light on the world of scams, con men, pyramid schemes, gaslighting, hustlers, and get rich quick schemes.Filmed during the pandemic, Angie explains how they managed to pull off a complicated, highly stylized docu-series with multiple directors and crews filming simultaneously in dozens of locations. And this eye-opening series covers a crucial topic - how anyone can believe a charismatic individual or big, visionary idea that ends up being a dangerous, often costly scam.We also discuss Angie's diverse career, as she has also executive produced the sitcoms, "Odd Mom Out" on Bravo and "Donny!" on USA. Find out how she is able to produce effectively in both scripted and unscripted television, something that's not easy to pull off.
Mortal Kombat (1:52), Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom (7:37), Two Distant Strangers (12:26), A Love Song for Latasha (15:46), Generation Hustle (18:17), Oscar Recap (22:35) and it ends with the Message Of The Week (25:55).
Welcome to Episode 157 This week we get to talking right away and start the conversation talking colleges and cruise ships, Steve's has recruited a maid service and shares his experience with that, Ben Affleck has new dating woes even though he's freaking Ben Affleck, and then we somehow find a way to pit DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince up against Hall and Oates. No, seriously. When it comes to what we've been watching: Dan gives his review of 'Without Remorse' starring Michael B Jordan (Now on Prime Video), We both give our opinions on the first Millarworld submission to Netflix 'Jupiter's Legacy', and HBO Max's 'There Is No "I" In Threesome'. Dan talks about Hulu's 'Trafficked with Mariana Van Zeller' , and finally Steve gives his thoughts on HBO Max's 'Generation Hustle' as well as 'The Good Fight' now on Paramount+. We wrap things up with Dan giving Steve (and hopefully YOU) an introduction to Chinese recording artist Wing. There's no way you won't adore her. That's the show, folks. Chew on it a bit and leave us your thoughts at heroesofnoisepodcast@gmail.com or leave us a voicemail at heroesofnoise.com. We'll be back before you know it. That's a promise. Look out for a new Patreon episode this week as we're coming back after a month off.You kids be good now. Until next time.. Peace

Now through May 16, or while supplies last, U.S. residents 21 and older can enter the “Reunite with Buds” giveaway from Anheuser Busch with proof of vaccination.GENDER REVEAL EXPLOSION: Kathleen continues her interest in the potential drama of gender reveal parties when reading a recent article stating that 80 pounds of Tannerite, an over-the-counter, highly explosive substance used for firearms practice, was involved in a gender-reveal stunt at a quarry in New Hampshire. The explosion generated earthquake reports over state lines. FALWELL JR SUED BY LIBERTY UNIVERSITY: In a follow up to Episode 13, Kathleen laughs as she reads an update regarding the status of Jerry Falwell Jr. and Liberty University. Liberty is suing their former President for $10 million, citing conspiracy, breach of contract, and claim that Falwell failed to live up to the school’s moral code. Kathleen’s recommendation to Falwell Jr: “when you get drunk and do stupid things, Jerry, just say sorry.” Amen…he might wish that he followed Mama Termite’s advice ☺ BANKSY GRAFITTI HIGHLIGHTS CHRISTIE’S JUNE SALES: UPDATE! In her continuing fanship for street artist Banksy, Kathleen gives Termites an update on the auction of a recent oil painting “vandalized” by Banksy. His Subject to Availability oil painting is set to highlight Christie’s June 20th century sale. The work is considered one of the artist’s most important pieces from his series of “vandalized” oil paintings and features a defaced rendition of Albert Bierstadt’s 1890 painting of Mount Rainier National Park. SUNKEN SUBMARINE: In response to feedback from her Termites, Kathleen reads an article regarding a missing Indonesian submarine sunk and was just found in the Bali Sea. She compares the disappearance to the missing Malaysian Flight 370, which she is still obsessed with finding out the location of. CHERNOBYL’S DOGS: Kathleen has long followed the disaster that took place at the Chernobyl reactor in 1986, and is excited that a recent update has emerged regarding the dogs that were left behind as refugees of the disaster. The article discusses the current status from the aftermath where tens of thousands of people were evacuated from the Ukrainian city of Pripyat and evaluates the relationships of the guards maintaining the perimeter of the reactor site and the abandoned dogs seeking companionship. THIS IS A ROBBERY, BOSTON: Kathleen has been spending a lot of time lately watching Art-related documentaries, and becomes immediately drawn into the drama surrounding the Boston art heist from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, as documented on the Netflix docuseries “This Is a Robbery: The World’s Biggest Art Heist.” Kathleen provides her own thoughts on the motives behind the robbery as well as the current location of the paintings and plans to visit the museum when she plays The Wilbur Theatre in Boston in September.
