Odd Mom Out's Sean Kleier steps Behind The Rope. Yes, Lex Von-Weber from Bravo's classic scripted series Odd Mom Out. So many questions, so little time. Sean chats with us about how he originally met series creator Jill Kargman. Based on her book Momzillas, Odd Mom out chronicled the wealthy mommy clique that resides in New York's prestigious Upper East Side. Sean explains the casting process, what attracted him to the role of Lex Von-Weber and how much fun it was to act on this Bravo series each week for three years. Part of that fun was due to costarring with, not only Jill Kargman, but the brilliant Abby Elliot and Icon Joanna Cassidy. Sean chats about off camera shenanigans between cast members, why the show ended and where he thinks Lex Von-Weber would be today. Of course, having been on Bravo, we chat about Sean's own experience with our friends “The Real Housewives” and of course Mr. Andy Cohen and his infamous Watch What Happens Live appearance. We also chat about Odd Mom Out's multitude of guest stars including, but not limited to, Jill's sister in law at the time, Drew Barrymore! We figured today a great day to share this blast from the past chat with the one and only Sean Kleier.  @seankleier @behindvelvetrope @davidyontef BONUS & AD FREE EPISODES Available at - www.patreon.com/behindthevelvetrope  BROUGHT TO YOU BY: HOMECHEF -  HomeChef.com/VelvetRope (18 Free Meals, Pus Free Shipping On Your First Box, and Free Dessert For Life) ONESKIN - oneskin.co (Get 15% Off With the Code VELVET This Skincare Which Targets The Root Causes of Aging) NOOM - noom.com (Sign Up For Your Trial Today So You Can Manage Your Weight For The Long Term) INDEED - indeed.com/velvet (Seventy Five Dollar $75 Sponsored Job Credit To Get Your Jobs More Visibility)  RAKUTEN - rakuten.com (Members Earn Cash Back On Everything They Buy Through Rakuten or The Rakuten App) LIFEMD - lifemd.com/VELVET (Visit lifemd.com/VELVET To Start Your Weight Loss Journey Today) SPECTRUM RESORTS - spectrumresorts.com (Start Your Vacation Today) ADVERTISING INQUIRIES - Please contact David@advertising-execs.com MERCH Available at - https://www.teepublic.com/stores/behind-the-velvet-rope?ref_id=13198 Learn more about your ad choices. Performance is as much science as it is art says this week's guest, Javier Muñoz. But Javier also knows that the Universe is vast and always looking out for him.  Javier is one of the kindest, most sincere people on Broadway and this conversation is filled with beautiful moments so don't miss a second. With stage credits that include the 2006 New York Musical Theatre Festival's off-Broadway show hit All Is Love, In the Heights, and of course Hamilton (where he took over for Lin-Manual Miranda and earned the title of “Sexy Hamilton”). TV and film credits include of course the 2021 release of In the Heights, Blindspot, Odd Mom Out, Shadow Vaults, Eureka!, Central Park, Quantico, and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. He is now starring alongside Jessie Mueller in My Heart Says Go, a musical concept album which is available for streaming now.  Connect with Javier on Instagram and listen to My Heart Says Go! Don't forget to catch the companion podcast Javier did on The Theatre Podcast With Alan Seales as well. From an early age, Javier recorded “Fame” and learned the dance moves and mashed them with popular music, and created his own music videos. In 5th grade, Javier went on his first camping trip and discovered a true night sky filled with stars and it fully changed him. From there his dream was Astro Physicist and study Astronomy. Science is just exploration, curiosity, and asking questions and that's exactly was a good actor does with a script. Javier was a first-generation college student. Mentors are, literally, everything! It took Javier a long time to become introspective and really look inside himself. In 2002 Javier got HIV and couldn't book a gig for anything so he quit the business and took a job at a high-end restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. He decided to do this one last show that his friend Josh has written and while in the rehearsal room, he meets someone who wants him to audition for In The Heights. He agrees to do two weeks at Manhattan Theatre Club. Unfortunately, his part in the show got cut and this lead to him taking over the lead after Lin-Manuel Miranda Next thing you know Lin-Manuel Miranda put Javier through “rap school.” When it came time for Hamilton, Javier and Lin teamed up again to create the character of Alexander Hamilton. Javier got a direct offer to do My Heart Says Go and he took it without even seeing the music and script. Whatever you chose is right, because you chose it. When things don't work out or go my way I really do trust that it's for a reason. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Now starring alongside Jesse Mueller in the musical concept album, “My Heart Says Go”, Javier Muñoz has truly come a long way from being a science nerd to a Broadway actor. Javier talks about his passion for theatre and performing and the importance of having a hobby outside of your job, which in his case includes exploring other creative artistic hobbies like doing film and tv, doing voiceovers, writing a new book, or diving into his activism. He originally had to quit acting in 2002 to work full-time as a manager at a restaurant after a string of unsuccessful auditions. A firm believer in the universe knocking at your door, Javier decided to get back into theatre after getting encouragement to audition for “In the Heights”. He talks about his relationship with the other cast and the special bond they have, and how his parents pushed him to continue pursuing his acting career. Javier gets vulnerable as he opens up about being a cancer survivor, getting diagnosed when he was doing “Hamilton”, how it affected his career and coming to terms with it, and his healing journey.  Javier Muñoz is an actor with stage credits including the 2006 New York Musical Theatre Festival's off-Broadway show “All Is Love”, Broadway's “In the Heights” and “Hamilton”, where he took over for Lin Manuel and earned the title of “Sexy Hamilton”. Jill Kargman is not your neighborhood soccer mom and she doesn't play one on TV, either. Her dark sense of humor and love of all things goth might put her out of place at most “mommy and me” gatherings, but this is especially true on the swanky Upper East Side where she originates. However, Jill isn't one to waste her time worrying about what other people think. Instead, she worked her alchemical writing magic and spun this into comedy gold, using her position in society as inspiration for the screenplay – turned book – turned TV show, Odd Mom Out. She also plays the feature role in the show, utilizing the talent honed from acting in numerous plays during her time at Yale. Jill's creative journey has taken her from arduous internships to writing rooms to the confines of her home office and back again. Jill now plans to return to the big screen as she sets out to script a film inspired in earnestness by the life of her teenagers. Thanks for listening! Executive Producer and showrunner ANGIE DAY is one of the smartest people I've worked with in my career. In this episode, I chat with Angie about her latest project, HBO Max's "GENERATION HUSTLE," a captivating, shocking and important 10-part documentary series, which shines a light on the world of scams, con men, pyramid schemes, gaslighting, hustlers, and get rich quick schemes.Filmed during the pandemic, Angie explains how they managed to pull off a complicated, highly stylized docu-series with multiple directors and crews filming simultaneously in dozens of locations. And this eye-opening series covers a crucial topic - how anyone can believe a charismatic individual or big, visionary idea that ends up being a dangerous, often costly scam.We also discuss Angie's diverse career, as she has also executive produced the sitcoms, "Odd Mom Out" on Bravo and "Donny!" on USA. Find out how she is able to produce effectively in both scripted and unscripted television, something that's not easy to pull off.

Odd Mom Out’s Sean Kleier steps Behind The Rope. Yes, Lex Von-Weber from Bravo’s classic scripted series Odd Mom Out. So many questions, so little time. Sean chats with us about how he originally met series creator Jill Kargman. Based on her book Momzillas, Odd Mom out chronicled the wealthy mommy clique that resides in New York’s prestigious Upper East Side. Sean is kind enough to answer our many questions about off camera shenanigans between cast members and chat with him about why the show ended and where he thinks Lex Von-Weber would be today. Of course, having been on Bravo, we chat about Sean’s own experience with our friends “The Real Housewives” and of course Mr. Andy Cohen and his infamous Watch What Happens Live appearance. We also chat about Odd Mom Out’s multitude of guest stars including, but not limited to, Jill’s sister in law at the time, Drew Barrymore! We also had to ask Sean about his recent guest star role on Fox’s 9-1-1 and what working with the likes of Jennifer Love Hewitt and legend Angela Bassett was like. Finally, we chat about the recent announcement that Odd Mom Out is now streaming on Peacock TV. You are welcome. Don Gunvalson and Lee Radziwill step Behind The Rope. Ok, it is Jordan and Justin Meyers, the famous, or as some say infamous, Brothers behind these two well known Twitter Monikers. First off, we discuss how these Brothers decided to become Twitter sensations in the Housewives world. We say sensations, but some say Blocked By. In fact, as of air date, Don Gunvalson and Lee Radziwill are blocked by several Housewives including, but not limited to, Kyle Richards, Shannon Beador, Tamra Judge, and Kelly Dodd. Not a bad record. Of course, we also discuss what Vicki Gunvalson and Carole Radziwill had to say when they contacted the boys. We can only imagine. These two boys are here here to bring the shade. We discuss every franchise: RHOBH (Who really lives in Beverly Hills and who doesn’t, we told you these boys are shady); RHONY (Cast shake ups, anyone); RHOP (This epic Season 5 and the Monique / Candiace physical altercation); RHOA (Give Marlo a Peach and Nene’s ongoing contract issues); RHONJ (David’s IRL Friends); RHOC (How does one get blocked by more than half the current cast); RHOD (How will the franchise be without LeeAnne Locken?); RHOSL (Coming Soon). Their tweets actually caused a major feud at a RHONY reunion past between Carole Radziwill and Luann de Lesseps. Then there was the time that the Lee Radziwill Twitter account was mentioned on Odd Mom Out by Abby Elliot’s Character. Also, have you seen their twitter this past week when PK, yes our friend PK, came for them for making a comment about our beloved Dorit NOT knowing this was not the real Don Gunvalson & Lee Radziwill. Jill Kargman is not your neighborhood soccer mom and she doesn’t play one on TV, either. Her dark sense of humor and love of all things goth might put her out of place at most “mommy and me” gatherings, but this is especially true on the swanky Upper East Side where she originates. However, Jill isn’t one to waste her time worrying about what other people think. Jill’s creative journey has taken her from arduous internships to writing rooms to the confines of her home office and back again. Jill Kargman spares nobody and nothing in her books Momzillas and Sometimes You Feel Like a Nut, and in her late, beloved TV show Odd Mom Out. In real life, too, the actress, comedian, and writer finds very little that's sacred. In a hilarious and wild conversation, Kargman talks about life in DORITO (hint: it's a neighborhood in Manhattan), being shunned at her daughter's ballet class, the problem with traveling by private jet, and how she responded to anti-Semitism at her son's private school. Plus, we learn about the proper size of a bialy and gain more insight into Jordana's dynamic with her mother. "Hi, are you Jewish?" It's a question you may have been asked in any number of towns or cities by a smiling bearded man wearing a yarmulke. It's one of the trademarks of Chabad, the Hasidic movement that dispatches its young men around town to help Jewish strangers perform a mitzvah—Jewish women are offered Shabbat candles, and Jewish men are encouraged to put on tefillin. We've always been fascinated with this practice, with some of us finding it charming and others, frankly, terrifying. So we did the only thing we could do: We went to Manhattan's crowded Union Square during lunchtime, accompanied by our very own Chabad sherpas, to see what it was like to talk to absolute strangers about religion. While we're asking questions: Is it OK to say "JAP"? That's what we'll be discussing at our live show Wednesday, June 18, at the JCC Manhattan. Jill Kargman of Odd Mom Out will join us to screen a short film we made about the persistence of the Jewish American Princess stereotype. In honor of July 4th, we're celebrating the diversity of American Jewish life—which, as we've learned, goes well beyond eating bagels on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Up first, we get a crash course in the history of Jews in the South from Stuart Rockoff, who created the Encyclopedia of Southern Jewish Communities, a rich online resource from the Institute of Southern Jewish Life. Next, Sammy Potter tells us about driving an hour to synagogue from his home in Yarmouth, ME, and why he wants to return to Maine after college. Yemile Bucay then describes her Mexican Syrian family's move from Mexico City to San Antonio, TX, and how she ended up raising her family in Great Neck, NY. Rabbi Tirzah Firestone follows to tell us about the Jewish Renewal movement in Boulder, CO. Finally, from Tulsa, OK, a vibrant Jewish community in the American heartland, we speak with Rabbi Marc Fitzerman and his children, Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Nina Fitzerman-Blue, about the unique landscape of Jewish life on the Arkansas River. Plus we hear from a couple listeners! Our donation drive is live! Our Jewish guest is writer and food historian Michael Twitty, whose book The Cooking Gene: A Journey Through African American Culinary History in the Old South, won two James Beard Awards this year. He describes being told that a book by a black, Jewish, gay man would never succeed (and how it felt to prove them wrong!), explains how most of the foods we eat today originated in Africa, and tells us why Jewish food is more than just gefilte fish. Our Gentile of the Week is Simon Doonan, creative ambassador-at-large for Barneys New York, whose latest book, Soccer Style: The Magic and Madness, is out in time for World Cup madness. He returns to the show (last time is here) to dish on life with his Jewish husband Jonathan Adler, tell us what to look out for in this summer's World Cup, and explain why, despite being British, he calls it soccer, not football. Finally, fan favorite Molly Yeh calls in to tell us about her new Food Network show, Girl Meets Farm, which premieres June 24. The book is set in New York City, where he's lived for the past 18 years, and follows a charming and successful professor named Andrew P. Cohen as he descends into a very peculiar kind of madness. Ruby tells us why he made his protagonist such a specific male archetype, and explains the difference between American and Israeli literary culture (he didn't discover Philip Roth until he moved to the U.S.). He also answers questions from listeners who read the book along with us, such as, "Why does the main character live near Columbia if he teaches downtown at NYU?"
